Being truly on my own is a bit of a weird feeling. It's never really happened.

Let it never be said that sometimes extreme brevity isn't the most appropriate post, though. Everything is a tool.

"It was the first place I went, since..." Hibiki answered, looking down at her state of dress once again, "It looked like some sort of office building. But if you're here, then anywhere could be home."

She was quieter than normal on the way to the shelter, frowning again as something had occurred to her. If Miku wsa here after all and dressed, did that mean that the others might end up arriving after all and in different places? She was rather glad to have ended up in Japan after all... her foreign language skills weren't the best, though they were definitely better than when she had started attending Lydian. Though it would be nice to go to another country to actually look around peacefully.

It was strange to be going to a shelter for something other than to check on other people, even if she'd had to do that before she got Gungnir... but once there, following along with the lines and picking up the essentials was easy enough. She even managed to get sandals to make up for her obvious "rushed evacuation" (not that she had even the faintest say in the matter). The food, though... cup ramen was so little... they would have to do something about the food situation soon, there was no way that she could hope that there were more shelters to survive on this little!

Maybe that blonde girl had some ideas?

Funds were secured... if not immediately, enough would be coming once something more troublesome than a pair of angry dragons began to terrorise New York. It meant that the first step in properly opposing any invading threats was possible: secure a base of operations and then begin to talk about it, rather than to conduct a philosophical debate in a UN agency--though he might need to take up the white-haired lady on that later, she seemed like an interesting person to talk with.

"I was going to see if I could acquire our normal office or something like it, if this is the same New York as ours. If Yuyuko likes food, then maybe you would be able to find her?" the larger man answered, thinking. Leonardo often ended up delivering food or in diners... or with Zapp, which added bars as well. If they were trying to find someone taking a food tour of New York then Leo, even if this wasn't Hellsalem's Lot, probably stood a good chance.
Nero

The Emperor was beginning to get the feeling that she had seen her Master less over this past week than might have been expected, even in a facility of this size. She had been busy preparing what she could in the time available--medicines and the like, mostly, though it seemed unlikely that Servants would be getting injured much. Though if they did, at least she had ensured that the medicine wouldn't be bitter! It was hard to find many of the ingredients, but there were enough to make a start on some of the recipes from Apicius, and the blonde had made sure to make the potions and the like part of that...

It was surprising how much the basket she was carrying could hold.

However, following the directions to the briefing room treated her to a terrible cacophony. There was only one other person around who had as much of an interest in the arts as she did, and yet... why did she have to be so bad at it? Not that this was terribly important at the moment, with Nero dramatically throwing open the door and making her presence known. Mostly by standing right in front of Elizabeth. Trying to talk over the singing was a forlorn hope.

"Lancer! This is not an auditorium!"

She'd probably get the point once other people arrived. Or assume it was an audience.
Isabelle d'Antibes

"I will work it off soon enough," the nun said dismissively, not sure why Saber was suddenly worried about her long term health when they were about to enter a violent fight for their lives. If there was any time to focus just on eating what you could now, it was when their deaths could happen any day. Though with that excuse and her own role in the church, it would justify a habitually poor diet... such as the one that Isabelle followed whenever left to choose her own meals.

It wasn't gluttony if you needed all that energy to stay in fighting condition, she was certain.

With the cheeseburger added to the order, it was just a matter of waiting for their food, then going over to the window to start eating... a somewhat disconcerting sight, seeing someone so delicate wolfing down an entire burger with barely a pause to breathe. "Can you fight without showing off... them? It seems like that might be a clue for our opposition."

Assassin

Replacing the light came a cloud of mist that seemed to die down but not... entirely. Some form of mist continued to hang around the patio where the summoning had taken place, yet not enough to obscure the figure that had been summoned: that of a short Japanese woman. Yet despite her height, she was undoubtedly an adult... the open kimono and lack of much clothing left little in the way of imagination for that.

It also meant that Evangeline should have no incentive to struggle with her Servant over the sake offered, or to try and divest an apparent child of the gourd at one hip. Or the already-full dish that Assassin had somehow been summoned with.

Not that Assassin's attention was on her: it was on the offering. "Is this for me, Master...? Fufu, you should have brought more people... who am I to play with?"

    • Endurance: E
    • Agility B
    • Mana: A+
    • Luck: A
    • Noble Phantasm: A
  • Class Skills:
    • Item Construction: A. Though possessing this skill in a normal fashion as a magus, and to a high rank, if left alone to create what takes her fancy, Nero is liable to start making quite strange constructions--or planning grand architecture, which her Master is unlikely to want.
    • Territory Creation: A.
  • Personal Skills:
    • High-Speed Divine Words: B-. Gained from a certain magus claiming himself to be the son of god reborn or some similar nonsense, his knowledge of lost magic was certainly remarkable--and with Nero's own grecophilia, she has learned an astonishing amount (no doubt helped by her other abilities). Though able to cast High Thaumaturgy at the speed of a Single Action spell, she often has to stop and remember exactly what it is that she wants to cast--though in a drawn out battle, repeatedly using the same spells would be no slower than comparable Casters. A magecraft highly suited to offense.
    • Imperial Privilege: EX. Imperial Privilege is an ability that, due to the insistence of the owner, Skills that are essentially impossible to possess can be obtained for a short period of time. In cases when the Rank is А or above, even the "burden to the body" can be acquired (such as Divinity). For Nero, the relevant Skills are Riding, swordsmanship, fine arts, Charisma, Military Tactics, wrestling, pankration and other skills as a military ruler that she never had the time to learn. As her migraines are suppressed, the skills are only lost when they return--thus, most of the time, she will retain whatever skill it is until the next morning.
    • Migraine: B-. Though not able to make an antidote to the poisons ultimately responsible, she is able to make an alchemical remedy that prevents them. Her efficacy as a Caster would drop drastically if they were to resume as normal.
    • Pontifex Maximus: B. A more familiar but more limited form of Magecraft, having a surprising amount in common with some of the Church's later sacraments. Allows invocation of the gods as a medium for spellcasting, with a rank of B sufficient to call on most for minor spells, and for greater efforts the gods that one has familiarity with. In Nero's case, this is Jupiter, Venus, and Mars.
    • Seven Crowns: C.
  • Noble Phantasm:
    • Name: Aestus Domus Aurea
    • Rank: - (A-B when used for attacking)
    • Type: Magecraft
    • Effects: Traps, weakens, and sets up an environment more suited to whatever the Emperor wants it for. Good for everything from pinning enemies to weaken them and win a fight up to forcing a cookery contest and providing the necessary utensils. In this manifestation as a Caster, the line between intentional magecraft, accidental magecraft, and a Reality Marble is even more blurred.

Why did people who could fly always make cryptic statements before leaving? He hadn't explained anything--or even if he had another name--before disappearing. What she sought? She wanted a way home so she could find Miku, did that mean that she wouldn't be here for long and could find her way home?

Answer: apparently not, with a very familiar voice calling out for her just a moment later--barely enough time to turn around and catch the other girl before they both ended up on the ground. Again. It wouldn't have been the first time that had happened, but it was nice to not get their clothes all dirty again... even if those clothes were still her pyjamas and Miku had managed to get dressed somehow.

"Miku! You were brought here too?" the brunette responded, relief nevertheless creeping into her voice. Even if she was trapped alone, away from home, and with no proper clothes, at least Miku was here with her, a warm place to come back to... though with her focus on Miku she was only half aware of the conversation going on and the leaving officer.

"Eh? Where are we going? The shelter? But there's nothing left to hide from."

The UN understandably wanted to form some group to deal with the crisis and an offered proposal but it was strictly lacking in... details. The representative had shown that there was some crisis going on, but Klaus had already known that simply from the fight that they already had to do. In old New York giant winged reptiles were not a regular occurrence and nor were people able to fight them on even footing, though of course some had existed in secret. Whilst he had helpfully established that this was less of a localised phenomenon than the collapse, his proposal hadn't really given them any more information or a suggestion beyond working together.

An agency under UN oversight might have too much friction with the jurisdiction of sovereign countries, and a vast amount of criminal damage in the mere process of fighting off any potential monstrous invaders. Working on a UN council would probably lead to a lot of paperwork and criminal charges, but if there was funding to be had, maybe it could be one source and those of them brought there could form a less public group to confront the threat. Or, in other words, he could establish Libra once again.

But before that could be suggested or discussed in any way, two girls appeared from nowhere, one rather militant and the other oddly old fashioned. Then promptly left again, leaving none of them the wiser. Not wishing to be missed out on if everyone did start talking at once--and aware of Leo's question, though that was a much harder answer--the redheaded man raised his hand.

"Does anyone know who they were or what they were arguing about?"

It seemed related to their problem, but cryptic statements could easily be interpreted to be relevant even if they weren't.
Sir Tyaethe Radistirin and Lilianna Belwiss

"You don't say?" the knight groaned, looking around at the rest of the people that had come with them... and noting that absolutely zero of their magically inclined members were in the vicinity. Wonderful, they were just going to have to stay here, waiting... which made this time to approach the servants and ask them where she could get water. The sticky blood was all the incentive needed to get directions.

She wasn't the only one to approach those around them with an inquiry--though in Lilianna's case, it was the far more practical "if any of the other knights come in, please send them straight here." They didn't want to have their spellcasters meandering about the place trying to find them...
Isabelle d'Antibes

She had wanted to summon some great saint if possible, or a holy knight. A dashing figure without disastrous personality flaws, that would loyally serve for the entire war and understand the import of the Church's duty in verifying if this was indeed the Holy Grail. In other words, what she preferentially wanted was a Saber or a Rider-class Servant, with Saber being preferred for its greater power...

And as a nun, living as virtuous a life as possible with her condition, she was certain that her own personality would be a perfect catalyst for someone like that, but the ritual had other ideas, taking her physical flaws and summoning... she had no idea. Isabelle's knowledge of Asian heroes was completely nil, nor was her ability to look up information in anything other than a large old-fashioned library on par with others of her age. At least she could rest assured that she had summoned the strongest Servant, likely because of the number of technically-swords that she carried hidden in her habit at all times, but...

So to sum up her week, she'd been awkwardly trying to get to know some strange Japanese (she'd found out that much from the obvious features and her own family history) lady, who started to hurt her neck whenever she made eye contact. Finally, her support had told her to get to know Saber, particularly on this night of the beginning where it was best to stay out of the way of other Masters lest they decide the Church wasn't neutral ground.

So, tonight, they were down in Redrock, ordering burgers.

"Can I have... two cheeseburgers, a chicken sandwich, two large fries, that chocolate icecream you have advertised out front, and a large coke?" the nun asked, reading off what she'd written down, before turning to her somewhat-disguised Servant (not that she was subtle either). "What do you want, Saber?"

On top of that, only the newcomer in that group is actually flying.

"Tachibana Hibiki, member of S.O.N.G. Um... you wouldn't have some other name we could use?" the girl said, taking the person floating in the sky mostly in stride--but not without a degree of apprehension, given the last person that she'd seen able to pull off something like that without any apparent effort. But his name was just depressing... and he didn't look all that anguished, either!

It definitely wasn't unusual for the police to approach him rather than some of the others running around... though that would normally have been due to previous experience with the police department. Maybe it was because he was actually on the ground and not caked in blood? In old New York, that sort of thing would be alarming rather than just off-putting.

"I agree that we should meet with your superiors if this will lead us all to have somewhere to stay. That this is New York suggests that none of my assets are available, and I expect that this extends to the others here."
