Being truly on my own is a bit of a weird feeling. It's never really happened.

Let it never be said that sometimes extreme brevity isn't the most appropriate post, though. Everything is a tool.

Probably somewhere between.
I do strongly advise people to not try and kill our only lead to what is going on. It would be quite problematic.
Tyaethe Radistirin

The first shot came as a surprise, even whilst on the lookout--maybe, if the captain hadn't already been moving and action wouldn't have risked more problems, she could have got it, but still... this assassin had some pretty impressive stealth. Unfortunately for her, Tyaethe had a pretty good idea of what was going on, and wasn't going to let her vanish again.

She also had to deal with the second arrow though, and her hands were quite full of sword--not really appropriate for cutting things from the air. Nor sufficiently intimidating enough to maybe get a bit of co-operation.

So, one second the bolt was being loosed, and there was one small vampire standing right in the way, cheerfully taking the shot to the chest and seeming rather unbothered by it all. Staring at the obviously-a-Nem assassin. "If anyone tries something lethal, I'm knocking them out."

How would they solve anything if someone killed the assassin?
I am not sure any level of religiosity is liable to have divine intervention happening whilst you're tramping around a forest. Strange lot. :p
I am sure you'll think of something, and then I need to keep the investigation route a secret. :p
Guild Staff

The girl who came to answer Nehir's attention fit a mould quite common amongst the guild staff: young, hair--in her case a strange pale green--in a bob, and from what could be seen over the counter wearing a grey jacket with its own little capelet over a ruffled blouse. She was also, going by the slight point to her ears, presumably half-elven, and considerably more off-balance than your average clerk; stumbling slightly as she got into position and coming dangerously close to smothering the nem before she straightened up professionally.

"The three of you will be all?" she asked, doing the first necessary check--that there weren't more people ready to take the job. It was always awkward if too many tried to do one task; out of courtesy to avoid the client's pay being split too far and to prevent competition between their own adventurers, most jobs were sharply limited in how many could register before the notice would be taken down. Of course, if everyone died, it would go back up... with a commensurate increase in difficulty. "Your names and ranks?"

To have the staff actually remember your name was generally either a sign of great success, alarming failure, or unusual circumstances.

@ghastlyInc
Tyaethe is moving into position. Not much point to making a post because I don't think I could avoid indicating what's going to happen.
Oh, what's wrong?
There is no IC reason that I would have to say no to the actual quest; I don't think it would be IC or actually contribute to be immediately dismissive for the OOC reason of "I am running the investigation"; and if I were to respond negatively immediately that would also be one extremely short post. Given the other consideration that if Shir were to say yes I wind up in the position of now having nobody to interact with, this is kind of a troublesome situation for me to respond in.
... you're missing the point.
