It’s none of my business what people say of me and think of me. I am what I am and I do what I do. I expect nothing and accept everything. And it makes life so much easier.

“There is no such thing as a new idea. It is impossible. We simply take a lot of old ideas and put them into a sort of mental kaleidoscope. We give them a turn and they make new and curious combinations. We keep on turning and making new combinations indefinitely; but they are the same old pieces of colored glass that have been in use through all the ages.”

Welcome Demon of the Melons to your new home! There are so many awesome RPs going around that you'll get your melon's worth for sure!

Oh, and @paragloan...we'll talk later ;)
Spell check and proofreading is a beautiful combination...

I get that there are people from different countries that RP here and the language barrier can be a cluster, to say the least. A few misspelled words or lack of correct punctuation here and there is no big deal. But, PLEASE for love of Olivia Munn, just make a concerted effort to proofread your shit before you click the "POST" button.
Hmmm...most of what was said already I am in total agreement with, so I'll hit on a few brief points that stick out to me...

The Good

I love a well developed character with a lot of layers that pull you into their story, unraveling their own deep-seeded history one post at a time (rather than front loading their entire story). I am a huge advocate of well written character descriptions, but not over doing it to the point where I can't use a bit of my own imagination to fill in the blanks.

The Bad

With regard to character descriptions, I don't mind having a photo attached to compliment a well-written description, but when it is used as a replacement, then I find that to be a let down and frankly it shows laziness on the authors part.

Also, I'm not a fan of using different color fonts to distinguish between dialogue, as I find it to be distracting. However, I can tolerate it as long as the colors contrast well enough that I don't have to strain my eyes to read it (sorry @Zardoric, lol...I now you love that dark purple...). And also, I can't only handle the dialogue being one color. I don't want someone's post to look like a Christmas tree O.o

The Ugly

Hmmm, Probably when people disappear (especially a GM!) with no rhyme or reason for their absence, allowing the RP to slowly diminish. Life happens and we ALL deal with crap every day, but if you can't post then please just bow out gracefully and let everyone else know. If you make a nasty habit of joining and leaving RPs, then it will eventually kick you in the ass and no one will want you around.
What’s in it for me?...

Yeah, it’s a loaded question for sure, but one I’ve been asking myself since I was a kid. And why shouldn’t I? Shit, I don’t see any reasons not to milk this sorry existence for all it has to offer, but I don’t go that far. Just enough to appease my own curiosities I suppose, or maybe I do push things further beyond the edge of the world, where you feel like one more step could mean you’ve just ended it all. Nah, I know I’ve slipped off that edge plenty of times, but I just keep falling with no fucking view of the ground below. I haven’t hit anything yet. I’m untouchable...

...Where the hell was I go with all this?

Vincent, you asshole...

A song from Filter, something from their early album, played softly in the background, streaming out of the many surrounding speakers in the back patio area. The large swimming pool glowed a soft bluish-white from the sublevel lighting along it’s perimeter, casting a stark shadow over everything floating on the surface. The time was...who really knew, but sometime after midnight and way before the morning sun was ready to show its face. Vin slowly drifted along laying on a bright green inflatable pool raft and dressed solely in a pair of white washed jeans, his tattooed arms outstretched, making the mythical wyvern creature inked on his chest almost appear as though it were in flight. His body, however, was unmoving, yet his eyes were open and staring intensely up into the starlit sky. Plastic red cups, empty liquor bottles, half inflated beach balls, and a myriad of men's and women's clothing were left floating in the pool or hanging off the large rocky cascading waterfall. This had been a good night. A night that would be easily replaced by massive hangovers, puking up everything still left in our stomachs, and most likely getting shit stolen. Yeah that hurt the most, and yet it was the inevitable byproduct of inviting complete strangers to your top-level apartment for an all night “fuck the world and crash” party.

Oh yeah, it's all worth it in the end, right?

“Hey, Vinny!...” The faint female voice, layered in some kind of British accent, echoed loudly from across the patio, snapping Vin from his reverie, almost causing him to tip over into the cold water.

“Who? W-What the fuck?..” His words came out slurred yet surprisingly coherent, as he turned his head to find the source of the interruption.

“You're Vinny, yeah? Shite, didn't ya hear me the first five times?”

Vincent focused and caught sight of the tall, leggy dark-skinned girl crouched down at the edge of the pool, her long dreadlocks partially covering her face and half naked body. She steadied herself with one hand while holding a mobile phone in the other.

“Eh…yeah...Vin. Don't call me ‘Vinny’, I hate that. And who the hell are you? And where is everyone else?...” He said with a confused expression, looking around the empty patio area as he pushed himself along the wall, floating closer to the mystery girl.

She stared back at him, her head cocked a bit with a sour look across her face. “Really?...we met last night at the opening of your tatt shop over in Buckhead, genius. And I don’t know, people were leaving throughout the night. Something about having to work in the morning. Shite, I need to work in the morning...” The girl then held up the phone, which Vin noticed was his. “But, that doesn’t matter now, someone claiming to be your ‘brother’ is on the line and needs to speak with you…”

Vincent tried to sit up on the unsteady raft, only to lay back down, more so from his own lack of balance and coordination. He scooped up some water, splashed it on his face, and wiped off the excess from his eyes. “My..My brother?...what the...I don’t even have a brother. And why the hell did you answer my phone?”

The woman gave a sideways smirk as she massaged her pounding forehead. “Look, I don’t know, it was sitting next to me and kept ringing, so I answered it. Do you want this bloody thing or for fuck’s sake I’m going to throw it in the pool!…”

“No!...yeah, I mean…yes, give me the phone please.” He reached over to grab the phone from the girl, who stood up, and staggered over to one of the lounge chairs.

Vin took a deep breath, trying his best to clear his head from all the chaos bouncing around, before putting the receiver end up to his ear. “Yeah? Who is this?”

There was a brief pause on the other end, before a male voice spoke, his tone somber and cracking. “Vincent…”

“Shit...Benny...what happened?” This was a guy Vin thought he’d never hear from again, not since the incident with his sister, Trish, Vin’s ex-fiance who left him for some rich chump.

“Dammit Vin, I’m over at Mercy Hospital, and Trish...she passed away an hour ago man. Her heart gave out due to a mix of prescription drugs and booze. Vin, I fucking told her to stay clear of that shit! I-I just don’t know man...”

Silence between the both of them seemed to last an eternity. Vin laid his head back against the plastic headrest on the raft, staring up at the starry sky yet again, and wondering if he’d even feel anything for what had happened to her. As much as he didn’t want to, and as much as she hurt him in the end, he felt it. He felt the sucker punch of life once again, and it hit like a mother fucking monster truck.

“...Vincent?” Benny spoke up, clearing his throat in the process. “Look man, I just thought you should know. But, I gotta go bro...”

Benny was gone, and the phone came to a rest on Vin’s chest as he kept his eyes fixed toward the night sky. Reaching his right hand over to his left shoulder, he rubbed the inked portrait image of the girl who broke his heart all those years ago, slowly closing his eyes to calm down the raging onset of a coming migraine from hell.

And, as if by some twisted and perverse coincidence, the surrounding speakers streamed an all too familiar song by Alice in Chains that they both shared back in Seattle when things had been different. When life seemed to make sense, and the rules didn’t matter.

“Shit, Trish...not like this…”
Classic movie and even more classic clip!

btw, first post is up! Buckhead represent! W00t!
And suddenly I feel like I'm in a league of our own.

There's no crying in roleplaying!
Added my character to the IC, and should be throwing in my first post by tomorrow.

And btw, a huge thanks and slap on the ass (professionally, of course...) to @Xandrya for recommending this RP to me the other day, and thanks to @AcerRo for taking me in ;)
Name: Vincent “Vin” TreVayne

Gender: M

Age: 35

Place of Birth: Seattle, WA

Sexuality: Hetero

Relationship Status: Vin was engaged to a girl he’d been together with since his late teens, and through unforeseen circumstances, the relationship ended.

Occupation: Co-partner of several tattoo shops along the East Coast of the United States, mostly located in upscale areas, Buckhead being one of them.

Skills: A vast background in traditional art, with a focus on tattooing and the use of various inks and their properties.

Appearance: Vin stands about 6’1, tall and lean. He generally keeps a closely trimmed beard or clean shaven face, and a neatly comb head of thick dark auburn hair. His wardrobe tends to lean toward a “chic rocker” fashion in blacks & grays, more so to impress the higher-end clientele. His arms, chest and back are covered in various tattoos of fantastical venomous creatures, tribal & gothic patterns, life, death, and various symbols that only he may know anything about.

Personality: Vin comes off as relatively light-hearted and easygoing, and yet can easily be identified as borderline narcissistic due to the fact that he seems to “know everything about everything” and holds nobody else but himself in high regard, which can reflect in his close professional and personal relationships. He is inherently stubborn and critical about a great many things, especially related to artwork, and his intense focus can be misinterpreted as being “socially disconnected” when in the middle of a project as he doesn't tolerate distractions very well.

Generally, however, he’s a guy that goes along to get along, and enjoys to socialize in circles where there may be an opportunity for gain or pleasure. As an artist himself, he loves art, especially body art, which he’ll gladly discuss with anyone who will listen to his incessant ramblings which inevitably circle around to him talking about himself.

Other than that I think it is a good post, good to pick up on the fact that Sol'id doesnt know that Gavon isnt a crewmember, that gives something to work with ^^

Yeah, I loved that he included that! Gavon would definitely play the part for all it was worth then :)
Yikes @POOHEAD189...interesting post, but several discrepancies that, unfortunately, made an ex-Imperial Intelligence Agent look like a complete rookie, lol.

- Destroyed probe droids, that, for all intents and purposes, would have detected your presence & location (or at least one of them) and immediately sent a red-flag back to Gavon.

- You would have had to travel quite a distance to get to where Gavon was behind the door, whereas, by then, he would have at least caught on to you by being alerted earlier from the probe droids.

- Once alerted, he definitely would not have been sitting at the door waiting for you to blast it open, lol

- And tbh, why go through all that trouble to scan an area, check for life signs, and essentially keep his operation as covert as possible for it all to be for nothing, lol.

But seriously, no worries :) I know you were struggling for a post and also trying to move things along, but (as with any character) you would need to take into consideration their background, skills, experience, etc and incorporate that into your posts.

Essentially, I see just about everyone's character on some sort of equal grounds, but they are able to handle certain situations differently (As en example: some are combat oriented, or stealthy, or good enough with computers to use the ship against their enemies, etc)

That being said, based on So'lid and Gavon's background, they should at least be equal in most things, but just have different ways of executing their plans. I think a fair assessment would be that So'lid uses more frontal (shock trooper) assaults, whereas Gavon uses stealth-tactics. Two sides of the same coin I suppose :)

In any case, if you don't mind taking some of the above advice and possible revising your post to where it makes a bit more sense, then that would be great. Also, don't hesitate to send me a PM if you have any ideas! I'm open! :D
