It’s none of my business what people say of me and think of me. I am what I am and I do what I do. I expect nothing and accept everything. And it makes life so much easier.

“There is no such thing as a new idea. It is impossible. We simply take a lot of old ideas and put them into a sort of mental kaleidoscope. We give them a turn and they make new and curious combinations. We keep on turning and making new combinations indefinitely; but they are the same old pieces of colored glass that have been in use through all the ages.”

Hey chica, I was going to give you some local info in OOC but decided you'd probably Google map it anyway :) And it worked out great since Kelly had a phone at her disposal...well, until she disposed of it.

Otherwise, the next post should be an interesting series of events :)

BTW, any feedback on the progress/story/mood, etc that you'd like to share? Anything you want more or less of?

(oh, and thanks for putting your old avatar back...so much nicer on the eyes)
@DarkwolfX37 Not to mention the fact that a truck being throw through the air will probably start a civil war...

I think this next scene is being over-complicated, so for now, let's assume things are de-escalating after Nate's sudden intervention:

@Stitches If you and/or @Biscuits wants to post then go ahead. So Abi & Brooks didn't get the warmest welcome, but we all now know why were here (for the most part) and I'm hoping that @AcerRo's next post to allow us all to work together against whatever it is that's coming...
Based on the last post so far, I think it would be safe to assume no one is going to be shot. I think enough "reasoning" has been thrown around to keep Eli from going ape shit for no good reason and to lower his gun seeing that both Brooks & Abi are cooperating.

To your point, @Stitches, I don't know why any of our characters would be mixed up this right now who isn't (in some way) already forced to. The "powered people" are being hunted by a shadowy organization that would rather put a bullet in your head than keep you around to talk it through, and I think just that threat a lone keeps everyone either moving, or sticking with a group they can trust as there is safety in numbers.

...However, yes, I do believe Eli is smart enough not to kill a couple of people who he may find to be allies in the end, so I think you are okay to post with this assumption.

My thought was that since Brooks seems to be good at "reading" people to a degree, perhaps he was able to surmise that Eli wasn't out to kill either one of them and takes point on the conversation from there. Something that can wrap this whole mess up, yeah?
“An extraordinary creature indeed.”

Doctor Zvikas stood but a few inches away from the cage as he gazed upon the beast within it’s steel bars. The once human woman now transformed into a creature of fear and destruction, an abomination to most who seek only to destroy that which they don’t understand, and yet to others, like Zvikas, an evolutionary wonderment. The creature’s amber eyes glowed with an intensity and fervor that would be considered a warning to anyone who approached the cage. A warning that a swift and gruesome death was coming for them. However, Zvikas had lived enough life times that his fear of death, no matter what the cost, had all but vanished and was replaced with an unquenchable thirst for the truth of their existence. Ghosts, Wraiths, Demons, Werewolves, and even the creature most disliked by the Werewolves, the Vampire.

Zvikas was one such vampire, a rare species indeed, as most vanished into hiding or a final death over the countless centuries passed. Their bloodthirsty urges, pursuit of power, and general reckless abandon caused his kind to fall and crumble into the dust whence they came. The doctor, however, chose an unlife of service and creation over his time as an immortal, rather than discord and destruction, keeping himself more human-like as to better blend in with those he co-labored with on a day-to-day basis. His experiences with the supernatural were rather sparse, much of it undocumented, but the intrigue had never departed from him nonetheless, and with a new species of werewolves to study, he hoped to discover a secret hidden away since the beginning of time.

The beast slowly paced the cage, continuing to lock her gaze onto the doctor, perhaps seething over the possibilities of ripping his throat out, but seething regardless. A werewolf doesn’t do well in confined spaces, especially not a cage built to withstand the raw strength and power they can unleash. The bars themselves were slightly bowed outward, and patches of dark fur scattered on the ground, an indication that the wolf had attempted, but failed to escape. Zvikas lifted his clipboard and scribbled down a few notations for later, namely to be present during the creature’s physical regression to a human woman. How long was the process? What did the body go through in order to process all of the shifting and reforming of bone, muscle, and tissue? Was there a way to control the change?...

“You may not be able to fully understand what I am saying to you, Miss Novikov, but know that you’re safe here for as long as you cooperate. Miss Denver, on the other hand, I am unsure about as her escape has proved to be a rather unforeseen variable.”

The doctor lowered the clipboard and crossed his hands in front of him, stepping one pace closer to the cage.

“There are those who wish to harm our kind, you see, out there in the world. Hunters...who would stop at nothing to ensure that we never exist again.”

Zvikas paused for a moment, exhaling a deep forced breath and collecting his thoughts before continuing.

“You and Miss Denver are not the first werewolves I’ve encountered. There was another, many years ago, who escaped this very facility and was never seen again. He had become a friend of sorts during his stay, as we shared a common unnatural curse, but his intentions were beyond these walls. He spoke of uniting against the established resistances, of destroying the foundation of the human hunters and their followers. But it doesn’t have to be this way, as I’ve learned to live amongst the mortals for more years than I can remember, and if I’ve learned anything about them, it’s that they fear what they do not understand. The humans need to be made to understand and exists side-by-side with our kind, not destroyed to preserve it.”

Another pause came, slightly longer than the first, before concluding.

Soon, Miss Novikov, I will need you to seek him out, and you will then gain the freedom you are entitled to...”

The brisk chill of the morning air crept gently up and down Kelly’s skin, causing a tingling sensation that woke her from the undetermined amount of time she was asleep. The breeze passing through the tall dense forest, rustling of multi-colored leaves that blanketed the ground, water rushing through the nearby river, and the chirping of various species of birds all created a symphony of sounds which her senses picked up with precision. The familiar scent of bacon assaulted her nose as well, causing her mouth to salivate and stomach to churn as a hunger and thirsty previously unmatched grew within. Amongst her senses, however, her head swirled and ached from the side effects of the tranquilizer agent, likened to a hangover three times worse than any she had experienced.

As her eyesight and hearing focused, refined, and adjusted, two male voices, those of young boys, were heard close by. Skinny and reddish-brown hair, they looked to be brothers, the younger about twelve and the other at least a few years older. Both had on light outdoor clothing for cool weather, and holding fishing rods, tackle boxes, and bag slung across their back.

“I don’t know dude...maybe she’s dead?” The young kid’s voice took on a worried tone.

“No you idiot, I saw her moving just a minute ago” The other, slightly older voice stated matter of factly, taking another bite of his breakfast sandwich.

“Um...so why would a black naked woman be down here near the Taunton River at seven o’clock on a Saturday morning?”

The older kid reaches into his pocket and holds his phone up with the camera lens pointed toward Kelly’s location, with the sound of a camera shutter following.

“I don’t know, but this shit is going up on Facebook.”

“Kevin, no! We need to tell Dad so he can call the police.” The young boy said, his voice sounding even more worried as he sniffled a few times. “I don’t like this...”

“Fine you chickenshit, you go run and tell Dad and I’ll stay here...and, um keep watch.”

The smaller kid ran off down the decline in the direction of the river below, as the other stayed, staring at his phone and punching in something on the screen.

“Dammit.” He grumbled. “Frickin’ internet service out here sucks…”

@Xandrya
Actually...Nate is simply an equal opportunity asshole and does not discriminate.
Vincent really didn’t like Eli.

In fact, in light of the situation, Nate was becoming his new best friend. Comparatively.

Seems like all Eli could do was point fingers and yell out commands at everyone like this was the military. But what did a city guy who essentially grew up partying his life away know about the military, or any of this? Vin never owned a gun, and never felt he had to own a gun, even in the face of all the shit that goes on in the world daily, he never felt insecure enough to want a weapon. Maybe it was a sort of street smarts he had developed over the years, knowing well enough when not to put himself in harm’s way, and or to simply talk his way out of a sticky situation. But good looks and charm only got him so far and out in the wasteland of the Kentucky foothills, no one cared much about vanity, and guns probably spoke louder than words would on any given day.

At Eli’s request, Vin took a few steps forward and reached down to grab the gun where it landed, his hand shaking a bit while trying to keep from dropping the weapon and looking more like an idiot. As he rose back up, he gave Brooks an acknowledging nod, which was more like a “thank you for not shooting me” gesture. He couldn’t help but feel bad for both the old man and his wayward kid, knowing exactly what it’s like to be suddenly swept up in a whirlwind of shit you can’t control, nor would ever want to be a part of. But here we are nonetheless. Vin reached into the driver’s side window, searched around for the switch to the headlights, and turned them off with a quick flip of his wrist before stepping back away from the truck entirely. Who knows what was about to crawl out of that thing.

On the other side of the truck, Vin noticed the little girl suddenly recoil a bit at the sight of Christi’s German Shepard, which, as far as Vin was concerned could easily tear the skinny chick apart with no problem. But, no doubt the dog was trained well enough by her master not to attack without real provocation or if Christi herself was in immediate and direct danger.

Vin looked back over to Eli and nodded.

“Okay Wyatt, I did what you asked, so can we possibly put all the fucking guns away before your inner cowboy decides to get us all killed?”
.... anyone's. Vin is long overdue...

I would necessarily say "long" overdue, but I was waiting for everyone's rotation :/

I'll have a post up soon.

Violet is a lot more likely to go around telling everyone she meets that she's got superpowers than she is to try to hide it...

We have duct tape for people like Violet.

But seriously though, I PM'd @AcerRo and brought up a possible intro idea for Violet, provided it was in line with his own plot for the next scene. So...we'll see.

Although if you and @memetrash101 want to collab than that's fine too :)

@Xandrya

Right there with you chica.
Yep, he'll try anyway as he can be persistent when he actually wants something, regardless of the moral standards and delicate sensibilities of others ;)

And yeah, he wouldn't know that Abi was faking the drama, so we'll see...
