It’s none of my business what people say of me and think of me. I am what I am and I do what I do. I expect nothing and accept everything. And it makes life so much easier.

“There is no such thing as a new idea. It is impossible. We simply take a lot of old ideas and put them into a sort of mental kaleidoscope. We give them a turn and they make new and curious combinations. We keep on turning and making new combinations indefinitely; but they are the same old pieces of colored glass that have been in use through all the ages.”

Sorry for the delayed post, aside from the other RPs, time just wasn't on my side this week.

So yeah...hard times for ol' Kelly :)

At this point, she's in the middle of nowhere (more or less) but if she heads in the same direction she was driving, she'll see a gas station about a mile up the road. I'll let you take it from there...

Keep in mind though, she would most likely be reeling from her experience, as her human mind hasn't quite caught up with everything.
Echoes of the past, variations of sounds, smells, and taste all collide, begging for attention. Kelly took the wheel, leaving the chaos and gore behind her, continuing in the direction she’d decided on back in the forest. The sign “Thompson Street” appeared up ahead, indicating what road she was currently travelling on, but real question was, where they hell was she? It seemed like the stretch of road went on forever, allowing her mind and body to settle, as though she were slowing coming down from a high. Music, the volume turned down rather low, could be heard through the speakers, something likened to a classic rock song, but slower, taking her mind back suddenly to the hospital.

An overwhelming series of emotions and thoughts soon flooded her mind..

The security guard near the fence beyond the courtyard, his throat ripped out, and bloodied body lying still on the wet grass. Another soon followed, same as the first, as the blood covered her body, and the taste on her tongue was pure bliss. She fled, the adrenaline carrying her more than any fear of man, as she bolted through the dark forest. But what slowed her down? Ah yes, the tranquilizers she’d been hit by numerous times before exiting the perimeter of the hospital. The wolf pushed hard and fast, as quickly as it’s strength could carry her, whipping past all forms of forest creatures, thick branches, and across small streams of water, before finally slowing and collapsing.

Flash forward to daylight in the forest. The two boys, the creature within could have easily torn them apart, never wincing once or hesitating at the thought, but Kelly had partial control at that moment. Enough to warn the older kid, and spare his life. But no...it was the hunger that took over shortly following, a hunger that had her on four legs, running barefoot and naked through the cool forest, until she caught her prey. The flesh and blood once again on her lips, running warm and free down her chin and onto her bare chest. She was covered. The wolf had to run again, and this time…oh god, this time!...an innocent man and his canine companion. Torn to pieces in the blink of an eye, with no regard for either life….

Kelly quickly snapped out of her emotional roller coaster long enough to swerve the vehicle before it crashed into another oncoming truck blaring it’s horn. In that moment, as the truck passed, time seemed to slow down for Kelly and she could see the older man driving, his fearful yet disgusted expression as he stared at her. And just as quickly, she found herself off on the shoulder of the road heading toward a rocky berm, but nothing could be done at that point as the car came to a quick stop when it hit the mound of stone and dirt, throwing her forward against the deployed airbag.

The realization of not only her physical & naked state, but of past events hit her all at once, as she felt the pain, not only of her dark deeds, but her wounds. Her insides hurt, and without warning, she vomited onto the passenger’s seat, a mass of blood and digested meat strewn everywhere, and the scent repulsed her even more. Whatever was happening to her, it was as though the wolf had abandoned its host, its fearlessness gone, replaced by emotions.

Terrible human emotions that left her paralyzed with indecision at that moment.

@Xandrya
@Thundercrash Yay!

btw, Vin & JJ were actually outside the mines, but we'll eventually be going in when Nate arrives to do some 'esssplorin' :)
@Xandrya Just for you and your lack of geekiness ;)

Hah, well if it's a Balrog we encounter, I hear they are satisfied by means of sacrificing feisty women ;)

@Subject Zero
@Xandrya
Sorry to hear (read?) that @AcerRo. But I've been there so I know how it feels.

In any case, we'll continue along as best we can, most likely go exploring into the mine and hopefully not run into Dwarves, or Dire spiders (oh wait...wrong genre...)
What? A stowaway?? You will be found!...eventually ;)

Anyway, welcome @LegionPothIX to the RP and (I assume?) to the Guild site! Great CS as well, very interesting read.
Congratz & GL on the interview @Sep!
posted again...just because
[ Security Central - Prelaunch ]

The Ark was in it’s preparation stages for launch, and Gavon was as ready as he could be for the first lift. He’d flown plenty during his tour with the Relief Convoys, but never outside the planet’s atmosphere, and certainly not into deep space. The thought of an airless environment outside of the ship left an unsettling feeling for sure, but no doubt, just like anything he’d encountered throughout his life, there were going to be drastic adjustments made. Even training in Zero-G simulators weren’t enough compared to the real thing, but then again adapting to any situation is one of his strong points.

“Follow the protocol from this morning’s meeting.” Gavon continued his instructions over the comms. “Four teams of two Agents assigned to each deck’s quadrant. And keep it low profile, just a routine sweep of the main corridors, branching hallways, etc as discussed. Squad leaders, keep a check-in with Central every two minutes. Rally point will be the Hub for all Agents not assigned to posts along the corridors.”

Gavon stood behind a seated Natalie, as she pulled up various camera feeds throughout sections of the Ark, accessing entry logs in restricted areas, and streaming data that went much too fast for the Chief to follow.

“Glad you’re the one having to stare at all that mess.” He mused, nudging her in the shoulder.

“It’s not a ‘mess’, Gav” She said, continuing to key in several cypher codes. “Think of it like I’m conducting a symphony and every instrument, every tool, has it’s place in the grand scheme of the composition.”

“So now you’re a composer?”

“In a way.” She snickered. “Besides, your neanderthal head and biceps are better used for bashing things, yeah?”

“I suppose.” He shrugged, catching something on one of the monitors and leaning closer for a better look. “Oh for cryin’ out loud...”

“I need two Agents closest to sector 8-F to break up a meeting currently being held in Storage Unit 5.”

“Copy that Chief, we’re on it.”

Natalie shook her head as she continued her work, trying to hide the smile forming across her face. “Really Gavon? You call two teenagers making out in the storage unit a ‘meeting’? ”

“Hey, you know that subtlety isn’t my thing, but I don’t need the team distracted right now. And you know as well as I do that all personnel need to be secured in authorized areas.”

She looked over at the security feed from the high angled camera in the storage unit. The adolescent couple, embraced in each other’s arms as though nothing in the universe was going to happen, seemed happy at least for the moment. Natalie sighed as she half-smiled, musing of younger and simpler times, where responsibility wasn’t first and foremost, and every decision wasn’t a matter of life or death. The world had it’s problems, it’s wars, famines, hunger, and death. But dreams seemed to hold it all together, dreams of a better life, a home, a family. She snapped herself out of the wishful thinking, turning attention back to her work.

“Did you ever think about what we’ll find out there in the unknown, Gav?”

After a moment, with no answer to her somewhat rhetorical question, she turned to realize that the Chief was gone from the room. And taking a deep breath, she went back to pulling up various records and logs, hoping that the launch would prove a success...for everyone’s sake.
