Current The Wolfman (starring Lon Chaney Jr.), Silver Bullet, The Howling, and Dog Soldiers are all good werewolf movies, what are you on about?

@wheels depending on the context you can often get away with leaving the title for last. If you insist on a title while writing, a "working title" is a placeholder until you think of something better

Bio

Bios are stupid; oh, sure, everyone can see them, but I bet nobody reads them.

Rude hand gestures and shpadoinkle, there.

No, I wasn't drunk when I wrote this, but I was very tired.

Busy week, here in the US, so no worries/rush about submitting characters, hope y'all are having a good one!
It's been awful quiet; that's what I get for starting just as the weekend rolls around.
Cool
<Snipped quote by RickyG85>

Sorry if my earlier question came across oddly;; — what I really meant was just to understand what kind of equipment and tools Moles, Ruin-Rats, and Rangers rely on. Since everything collapsed so fast, should I assume they mostly use scavenged 2025-era tools and weapons, or is there room for improvised or adapted tech in underground shelters?

2025 is the most advanced you'll be able to find, the surface and smaller shelters will rely more on stuff that's adapted/scrounged and held together with duct tape or something, yeah.
@RickyG85 Heyy, I’m interested in joining, but I’ve got a few quick questions! Since civilization fell in 2025 and tech varies between communities, what kind of post-apocalyptic tech people commonly have access to? Also, is the story set in a specific country or is it in a fictional region?

Hmmm... Well, what I described would imply (I thought) that nothing is really "common", certainly not on the surface. But, in the larger bunkers I suppose some civilians still have smartphones? I've been doing rpg's since I was 15; I know you're trying to get at something, but I can't quite figure out what?

Honestly I hadn't thought of where it would take place. My mind defaults to North America.
@RickyG85Few questions if you don't mind:
- What is the age of adulthood? Life expectancy of normal people during this era?
- Does hydroponic/mushroom farming exist for large settlements?
- How human-desired are they? Like given a mortally wounded Giant and a mortally wounded human side by side, what would a Giant go for?
- Also tech level? Like 1945 for the Outside World as was portrayed in AoT?

I'll try to whip something up soon.

Those are some good questions! In order:
-It varies; Undergrounders try to protect their youths at least until age 15 and the more well off Mole colonies can manage the mid 80's for people who live safer lives. Meanwhile Rat's in their more survival focused groups could expect a kid to start pitching in as soon as they're old enough to hold a knife or lift something heavier than a stool, and might look at you like you just said "I'm immortal" if you tell them you're 45.
-Yes.
-Pretty strongly, but, They'll go after whichever is closer or caught Their attention first.
-Civilization as we know it fell in 2025, so the disparity of tech level between human communities can also be radical, but the ruined state of the surface also makes it much less reliable, up there.

Does that sufficiently answer your questions?
In Greek mythology, "The Gigantes" are where we got the word for "Giants", as well as the idea of them. The tale where they featured most prominently was called "The Gigantomachy", and was considered the end of the Greek legends.

How appropriate, than, that for us, Their arrival signaled one thing:

The End.

Nobody knows where They came from; speculation was all over the place. Reports put them anywhere from 5 to 20 meters, rising from the seas, emerging from the earth, charging down the mountains. By the time everyone knew They were real, They were everywhere, They couldn't be reasoned with, and They couldn't be stopped.

The big cities got hit the hardest, one or more charging in faster than they could evacuate, or even sound the alarm- millions were consumed by Them in just the first 2 months.

Our armies tried, but were also among the first to fall. They were too strong.

We fled underground; hiding was our only option. Some say there are floating colonies out on the seas, but for now, underground is all we know-

The Surface belongs to Them.

We manage to get by with what we have, but sometimes we have to go up, for scavenging and forage. Sometimes we even catch radio signals from other shelters!

It's dangerous to go up, but the bold and brave who keep managing to return earned a place of honor among the survivors. They come back with tales of having to flee, or even fight Them, and the lengths they have to go to in order to survive! Officially, they're just called Rangers, but the people's eyes light up with hope as they start to call them

Giant Slayers

Welcome to the Giant Slayers rp!

This is a post-apocalyptic setting, where the surface of Earth is too dangerous for human civilization due to the presence of colossal predatory creatures that resemble humans and primates. Humans have been living primarily underground for at least 5 years since They came. People call these creatures Giants, or Them/They collectively.

I'm keeping character sheets minimal:

Player:
Character Name:
Description: written or image is fine
Mole/Rat (put a line through the one you aren't)
Occupation:
Gear:
Background:

submit characters in the OOC first, and please don't put them in the character tab until they're approved.
wow, really? I didn't think this'd get this much attention in a week, thanks, folks!

I guess I'll get started on an OOC!
@princess

I hadn't thought of factions- raiders come to mind; scrappy outlaws, some of whom have managed to survive on the surface and declare themselves the king of one ruin or another on the surface, and aren't too friendly towards the "moles".

As for killing Them... They're abnormally strong, at any size, 20 meter class and above are effectively kaiju; find somewhere to hide, and hope they haven't caught your scent. the "smaller" ones can be killed with sufficient artillery, but that is not in ample supply. Even before the fall of man, some battles were won, but it was a bit like the opening battle of The Last Jedi; sure, some forces managed to kill a colossus or two, but the losses required showed it was not a winning, long-term strategy. Those who do have old world super weapons settle for disabling the beast in such a way that prevents pursuit; blow off a foot/leg, or topple a building on it, and run like hell before he digs his way out. Or, critically wound one when there's a plurality, and the others will turn and eat that one instead (because cannibalistic predators).

The Giants don't regenerate, and their anatomy isn't all that different from ours, the issue is scale- A skull that's 10 feet tall is going to be very thick, so even with a tank, head-shots aren't a guaranteed kill. Even if you try to go for the eyes, tank gunman aren't snipers, and They tend to close the distance pretty quickly once you have Their attention.

any other questions?
