Current I mean, some people want to do it for the reason it’s supposed to be for, but it being all but outright mandatory, well.

@Ricky: I never thought about it like that, but it really can be, huh? I checked out the Mormons for a stint, and I can 100% see that being a reason behind them pushing that.

Tricks them into thinking it was their choice, when it was structured for them to fail.

The Amish doing that strikes me as a psychological way to keep people there. Isolate them > send them out > get culture shock > return to the comfortable rather than figure out a foreign culture.

Ashifa: Shoving/forcing the religion on someone isn't what Christianity should be about. I'm sorry if/that that's what's going on for you.

Victoria carefully lifted part of the chain necklace inside as Alex spoke. Though it looked fairly thin and delicate, it had a surprising yet satisfying weight to it, and the otherwise silvery metal glinted a rainbow of hues as it shifted in the light.
“Th-thank you,” she said quietly, the slight fear in his tone threatening to further wet her own.
She took a deep, steadying breath as she placed the box and chain on the counter beside the sink, then reached up to unhook her own necklace. She had just carefully slid the pendant from its chain when he turned back to her, then switched the chins out as he continued.
“There you go, letting all the flattery get to your head,” she said in a poor attempt at humor as she returned her pendant, now on the enchanted chain, around her neck. It hung slightly lower than before.
“Think they’d look in Antarctica?” she grumbled to his offer, slipping the ordinary chain in her pocket. She followed him toward the door, and glanced to the kitchen window, the evening sun shining through the curtains. “Wait. I thought vampires couldn’t go out during the day. So far, I haven’t met any that abide by that restriction.”
Seaella watched the two Dracon’s converse, not fully caring about their conversation. Still standing a few feet from the table, she slowly inched her way toward the only table of a normal height in the manor, her gaze switching between the dracons to the fruit and back again. She froze when Serapis looked toward her, the thought of the food momentarily put from her mind.
She stared at him at his question, pulling her sister’s staff closer to her and trying to steel her expression, as she had seen her sister do on many occasions. Alas, the efforts proved in vain. Did she dare tell him about their pursuers? Would doing so risk them being turned away from their help? Would not telling them end even worse? She glanced uncertainly up at the stone topping the staff, its powers dormant in her hands, as if hoping it would answer her silent questions.
“We,” she began quietly. She paused to swallow. “We were being followed,” she confirmed carefully. “We think we lost them, but we can’t be sure.”
Thayva and Serapis encountered the food fight together, and she headed the clean-up. I assume that, up until "Now, if I may say it," he was addressing Thayva, so thought I would bring up that little reminder. :-)
Despite Pahn’s tone, Anora scowled at being called ‘child.’
“I’m not a--O-okay!” she finished in surprise as he easily lifted her into his arms then strode to the side of the crater as if the mud that had hindered her own steps did not even exist. When he jumped up to the surrounding concrete of the street, she instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck as if that would help prevent her from falling. Her eyes pulled from him only once they were on the solid street.
When he placed her on her feet, she took a couple steps back, her awed gaze never leaving him. She released a breath she had not realized she held, her gaze coming to rest on the unusually colored bead of blood streaking down his skin.
She absently started to nod at his question, but stopped, the feeling of being watched again stepping unnervingly down her spine.
“How should I know?” she breathed, wrapping her arms loosely over her midsection.
Everything from the way he looked at her to the strength and power in his presence kindled a war inside her. A part of her yelled for her to run the other way, telling her she should be afraid of someone who just destroyed a city block, and who knew what else where his spears had landed. The ghoul she had chased was one thing, but the being standing before her? The gray-skinned man? The reptile woman? Sure, she always thought she had a fairly open mind, but they were a league all their own. Something far above her head. But another, stronger part wanted, needed to know more about him. It longed for the side of the world he represented. It told her she was safe, here, with this perfect stranger. He seemed so familiar, as if she knew him, yet she had never met him before in her life. She had no reason to trust him, no reason to have dared risk her life to try pulling him from his silent, unmoving rage. Yet, she did, and she had, some sort of pull compelling her forward. She wanted to see him safe, the thought of him being in harm’s way making a knot form in her stomach.
Confliction contorting her face, she snorted and shook her head, breaking her gaze away from his and taking another step back.
“This... this is insane! she hissed, her body and hands moving animatedly and emphasizing the last word by quickly moving to and from her temples. A haze of glittering purple inadvertently flashed over her fingers with the action and her emotions. It made a few strands of her hair stand on end from the unexpected electricity, and her eyes glowed for a short second. Still, she could not bring herself to look away from Pahn for long. Curiosity, intrigue, and confusion burned in her violet gaze. Her voice rose slightly as she continued. “Who are you? What are you?” She took another step back, the mud on her thick-heeled boots leaving prints on the concrete. She glanced almost disbelievingly around at the destruction surrounding them, and ran a hand exasperatedly through her hair. “What on earth is happening here?”
She stared at him intensely, daring him to not answer her. She pulled her hand from her hair and placed it tenderly on the side of her injured shoulder. Her spirited movements made the fabric pull and ruffle irritatingly against the small wounds, reminding her once more that this was not all just in her head.
Anora spun around when police and firetruck sirens sounded from further in the city, the irritating cacophony growing swiftly louder. She inhaled and took a backwards step toward Pahn, before turning back to him.
“You said you clean up after yourself well, right?” she asked in a rush, glancing back over her shoulder. “Might want to hop to it unless you want to explain this to Homeland Security or something.”

Izzy raised her eyebrows at Zach as he gulped down water, then added a tub of butter to her small pile. She retrieved a pan from one of the cabinets and placed it on the stove top, her face twisting in disgust as she watched Zach wring out his shirt.
“You can’t think of anywhere more sanitary to do that?” she asked, turning the burner on. “The bathroom, for instance?” She turned from him to collect a spatula, then went to return to the stove, but Zach was closing the distance between them.
Recognizing his mischievous expression, she pointed the end of the spatula threateningly at him and stepped away. “Don’t you even think about--!” Her protest ended in an appalled groan as he forced her into a damp, reeking hug.
“GET OFF ME!” she shouted, trying to wriggle from his grasp and push him away, her attempts aided by the handle of the spatula as she tried to jab it into his side to make him back off. “Unless you want to make your own breakfast!”
He's fantastic! :-D No worries. I understand completely. I have my own game of catch-up to do with roleplays and PMs here thanks to the holiday and whatnot. I'll get to work on an IC post for this either this weekend or sometime next week, if you're good with that!

Just one thing to keep in mind: Earth is modern-day, and the story, as of the moment, based long after the inspiration of Carroll's book, so Wonderland would be known to the world through that. Of course, that's all up for change if you would like!
Surprise crossed Rayadell’s face at the animal’s apparent understanding of his rider and, more importantly, its lack of hostility. She tilted her head slightly, her silvery eyes narrowing in suspicion. Not bothering to hide the expression when Calanon looked to her, Rayadell returned his courtesies with only a simple, nearly imperceptible nod, then turned toward the direction leading them to the quickest path she had found on the map.
She kept a fair distance between her and Brogach, her suspicion turning into curiosity about the beast’s lack of aggression.
Does it not have that sixth sense? she wondered, her gaze shifting from scanning the surrounding road as they began their journey toward the north, to the pair just in front of her.
She paid little attention to how long she and her new companions walked for, the silence between them neither comfortable nor uncomfortable. When at last they left the town behind, entering a part of the sparse forest, Rayadell closed her eyes for a moment and inhaled deeply, relishing the earthy scents that had replaced the harsher smells of human habitation.
As they reached a hill, Rayadell took the lead, pausing at its crest to take in the view before them. Her gaze lingered on the mountain pass. It had been so long since she had ventured into the heart of mountains. They held the promise of adventure and danger, of beauty and mystery. But most of all, it possessed a sense home. An impatient longing settled over her face and seeped into her bones. She wanted to discard her cloak, spread her wings, and glide over the long stretch separating her from the mountains dusted in a glittering layer of snow.
The gentle clomp of the elk’s hooves interrupted her thoughts, making her scowl. She turned her head toward the two, her irritated expression turning to one of contemplation.
If the animal had not shown any unease toward her thus far, perhaps it was worth a try. After all, it had been nearly as long since she had traveled by steed as it had been since her last visit to the mountains.
“How fast could your friend travel with two riders?” she asked slowly, cautiously. The itch to get to the mountains made her shift her weight from foot to foot as she glanced at them over her shoulder.
No worries! It's not an important thing, really. :-)

I did, thank you! Did you get to spend it with friends and/or family?
@OfWindAndRain

Many thanks! :-) I had all of that, to be sure. It's always nice to be surrounded by loved ones. Did you get the same opportunity, I hope?
She was asking what happened with the two girls.

Also, sorry, I forgot about Nick. Edited his bit in. xD
