Yeah, I like that idea! And feeding on humans would not get the raw meat that they need to survive also. This may mean that they will have to kill to survive because they will need human blood and any kind of raw meat.... Hmmm -evil smile- I think we should reverse the eye color, just because it would throw everyone off. Just imagine Devin's Elder coming after him and his eyes turn white. She then thinks she has him, only to find out she does not. Hehe!

So, I took what we both said and made a list of each of the traits that make up werewolves and vampires according to how we made them. This is what I got.

Werewolf:
Dominance
Pack
Raw Meat
Pack Magic
Healing

Vampire:
Independence
Blood
Impulsion
Controlled by master

From here, I made a lit that should include everything about both monsters in one form or another. Take a look at the list and let me know what you think! ^.^

Hybrid:
Pack Mentality with greediness over food
Pack Magic (To be shared between Devin and Avina as equal alphas/masters)
*Note – This pack could either be the two of them until possibly more hybrids, or it could be a pack made of wolves and vampires. (The idea of vampires being able to be pulled into a pack could be interesting to explore.)
Strength of a wolf
Speed of a vamp
Impulsion
Blood
Raw Meat
Healing of self, as well as the ability to heal others by sacrificing their own blood

Truly, she hoped that they could out run the Marrok. Saddened, Avina looked down at the floor. If he found her with Devin, she would be forced to kill him. Avina would rather take her own life, rip her own heart out of her chest, than kill him. This connection she had with this vampire was unlike anything she had ever experienced or heard of before. With ease, he was able to tear down her walls that she had spent centuries building, but it was more than physical or emotional. It was unexplainable. “Let us hope so.” She whispered more to herself then to him.

Avina put everything she felt into her wolf. Her fear, her confusion, her attraction, and her anger all filled the beast until the She Wolf was near a full outrage. Once again, they missed and Devin pinned them to the ground. Instead of feeling fear or anger, excitement ran down their body as his hand gently stroked their fur. Turning their head, they nipped at his hand just hard enough to break skin. Then he was off of them and they scrambled to their feet and looked around the meadow only to see nothing. Up. Avina whispered. They looked up at the tree and narrowed their eyes.

Avina and She Wolf were going have to be cleaver as well as strong. They took two steps forward and let their paw buckle under their weight. While the leg was still tender and healing, it was not pain they could not handle. However, they had a feeling that if they acted injured then Devin would come running to their rescue. After all, he had expressed his desire to protect them before. Their nose hit the dirt hard and a rock caught the side of their face, cutting the skin under the fur as they allowed the whole weight of their body to fall forward towards the ground. Dirt lifted around their body as it landed, and they made sure to keep their injured leg tucked at an awkward angle. A voluntary, high pitched wine came from their mouth as they closed their eyes tightly. Their ears stayed alert, listening for any movement while blood pooled around their face.

Going off the assumption that white eyes mean they are at their strongest, then how about we say their eyes are white when they are a wolf? That is an interesting idea, and kind of temping. Though if they can only feed in werewolf form, eating could become very messy. To start off with, they would not be able to compel their victims. Then their teeth would more like rip flesh rather then pierce it. Not to mention, if they are hungry and still have to go through the pain of change it could cause a very temperamental and uncontrollable wolf.

Yes, strength and speed for sure! A werewolves instinct revolves around dominance which is showed by strength and will power. Mostly will power. They also run on pack mentality, you fight as a pack, hunt as a pack, hurt as a pack, and live or die as a pack. Raw meat is was fuels them. Raw meat is to werewolf as blood is to vampire. Also, Alphas have what is called pack magic. This basically means that they have control over the pack, it is part of the pack magic willingly given to an alpha that makes less dominate wolves submit. If a wolf is being dissident, the alpha pulls on the pack magic to boost his or her dominance. It is pack magic that allows an alpha to bring a new wolf into the pack or help another wolf heal faster. It is pack magic that binds them all together and keeps order basically.

Why instinct make up a vampire? I am thinking we can just take the best of both worlds and put them together. And if it a struggle for either of them to adapt, then all the more fun! ^.^

I think a faster heart beat would be more interesting. Plus, the faster heart beat would mean that they would need more blood thus the vampire part coming in. What would you think of them being able to change into wolves like a normal werewolves but would keep the vampire eyes and the vampire teeth just thicker? So even in wolf form, they could take blood. The harder part would be mashing the instincts of a vampire with a werewolf.

I agree! I think I am going to leave the bond thing alone for now. Though I think meshing them into hybrids could be really fun and would fit in well with what I have planned with the Marrok. ^.^

There would be aspects of how our hybrids would work that need fine tuning, but it is doable. Again though, I am not really sure what I think of this idea. I feel like I am putting too much thought into it rather then just letting an idea spark.

As far as how they would change, and who would change first, would depend upon how our hybrids worked. Would they have a beating heart like a wolf or a cold one like a vamp. I would say being aline is important to being a wolf mostly because their change comes from breaking bones and tearing muscles only to rebuild in a different form. The rebuilding would need live cells I would think.

What are you think of this idea? Would it be a good reason behind their strong bond? If it is not the reason behind the bond, and we still like the idea then we can always use it latter in the story.

I'm sorry to hear about your head. I totally understand how a headache can be crippling. :( I hope you feel better soon!

Okay, I am just making sure that she bite him or throw him around without actually permanently injuring him.

I'm not sure yet if I like the idea rolling around in my head. But basically they are meant to turn each other into hybrids and start a whole new species. Again, not really sure if I like this idea...
