Current I'm a pretty good writer and former site staff; I still deal with imposter syndrome every time I log on. You're definitely not alone. And t's worth trying anyway.

I just finished The Secret History, a very Gen X book. Never Let Me Go before that, which I'd recommend to any writer outside the MFA atmosphere who wants to know emotonal restraint.

This looks very promising, I'm interested in joining. (That is, if you have any room)

Considering we haven't accepted a single soul yet, we've got nothing BUT room. ^_^

I was hoping if you could tell what season exactly the rp would be starting in? Winter? Summer?

Spring.

i like that name

lol Sorry. Billings is the fictional town name.

The OOC is 80% done. I've just got to find time today to sit down and write out setting details.
Fictional small rural town.

Quick question - does 'standard zombie' = good old fashioned shufflers? As opposed to the modern 28 Days Later scream-y sprint-y things.

Yep!

Are you an American? And I was thinking about being a reservist as the military has always been my passion but I feel like I couldn't survive off the money that they give you for that, so I had to look elsewhere.

I am, yep!

For most reservists it's just in addition to whatever their day job is. Not that I know anything about your country's situation. ^_^

Can you tell us more about the surrounding area of the airport?

It'll be in the OOC, which we're working on now. Off the top of my head, it's situated around smaller mostly farming and livestock towns and one large town, a few days ride from a large city.

Yeah, it's just that in zombie RP's you have the stereotypical ''look I was a soldier, now I can be a bad ass.'' type of characters. Not saying there's stuff wrong with that, I just prefer playing a normal guy.Pretty cool that you're an NCO then, I was joining the Dutch armored infantry but sadly there were no job applications available.

It was a cool ride, yeah. (I'm a reservist these days.)

Oh, we're well aware of the stereotype. lol I want people to have fun, and feel free to let their imaginations roam. But this game has a set standard, and we'll make sure nobody breaks that at any stage, especially character creation.

Saying ''it's a big risk'' makes me all the more excited to go and try it.. :P I am guessing that since it's been a year I can't play the inexperienced guy? I like starting from the bottom instead of being a bad ass ex-marine (there are no ex-marines, but you get what I'm saying) zombie killing machine who has plenty of years of experience in situations like that.

I'm a senior NCO who knows plenty of people from every branch. There aren't a lot of military people who could transfer their skill set easily to a zombie outbreak. If a military character (outside of SpecOps--who won't be allowed anyway) has any real advantage in the situation, it's the conditioning to operate through stress (but after a year in that's cancelled out), firearms handling (also cancelled out by now) and leadership.

I'm sure if you want to play someone more or less 'new' you can, you'll just have to come up with an angle that lets you do that.

Are we intended to leave the airport and settle down on our own or are we supposed to stick around? More or less; will it be free roam or is there some plot making us stick around?

The airport is already a pretty successful settlement by the time each PC gets there. We're talking a good year after 'the fall', so everyone should by now have learned the value of not being alone. There is a plot in place, but a character can do what they like. I won't be playing a member of the survivor group, so if one or two folks decide to break from the group, I'll have no problem handling that IC.

It's a big risk to do that, but they could do it, sure. The plot isn't constructed in such a way to funnel players from one place to the next. Survivors do what they want, but the plot will have a way of catching up to everyone.
