Current I'm a pretty good writer and former site staff; I still deal with imposter syndrome every time I log on. You're definitely not alone. And t's worth trying anyway.

I just finished The Secret History, a very Gen X book. Never Let Me Go before that, which I'd recommend to any writer outside the MFA atmosphere who wants to know emotonal restraint.

DEFINITELY do a Halloween themed event for the game.

Comic book games NEED events. NEED. Keeps shit fresh.

Halloween, maybe a Mojoworld, etc, etc. Too much fun to have.

I understand the perspective of thinking anime/manga additions might give a little too much choice or that they’d struggle in fitting. I think it’s an interesting discussion to mention, but I’ve always been rather neutral towards the concept of singularizing it with the already great swath of Marvel/DC/Indie that we have going here.

I’ll take this into consideration when going forward with the new game.

You’re my favorite sumbitch, Byrd.

Understandable, but a shame. Perhaps you’re just having a dry period and it’ll come in time. If it does let me know as I love working with you.

Batgirl would probably be available for play (It'd be Robin's second year as Batman's partner and I have some ideas lined up.) if that's something you would want to do.

Welcome to the Guild!

Let me know if you need anything. <33
Sounds like...make the damn OOC already, @Gowi ;)
Who's second?
Admittedly as a GM I am very constructive on my settings with defined lore and guidelines within a timeline. But do know that any timeline I setup is not entirely concrete in Maximum Comics but rather a sort of "alpha build" that's waiting for a suggestion from another player. I am cooperative even if I am very pro-structure. I think I can try to work with everyone to making sure there is a balance between creative freedom and structured lore though I might need some suggestions and input down the line regarding that.

I think a lot of Maximum's problem was it was a decade into the "return" of Superheroes in the public eye which is why in the reboot I will be setting it three to four years after the resurgence. This leaves a lot of superfluous lore yet to be made and leaves a lot more creativity for players to utilize whilst still having a good background skeleton to launch from.

1) I've been considering replacing a sample post with a link to a reference post instead. Showing what level you write at rather than the old system I've had.

2) Make them better! or perhaps redesign a character that isn't great into being excellent.

3) That's up to you and that friend, of course. People don't have to focus all the time on solo arcs, if there's a group story you want to work with then that is probably ideal and fine.

Nothing can be done about 2. It's just when you come into the game. Although I also force people to focus on one character for a while, so.

Yup!
Peter Quill had spent the morning wandering. Cosmicdude had told him where and when he would find the first target, but the shiny stone bracelet he'd been given much have been broken or something--it got him to Earth hours before he needed to be to run into the first target. Which was stupid. Why would he want to just waste time on one of Earth's biggest cities? There were reasons he hadn't returned to Earth, even when he had the chance before.

Like, at least two good reasons.

He wasn't comfortable on Earth. This was reinforced when he followed a smoking hot chick (because what else was he going to do with hours to kill but walk around and scope out the chicks?) into a book store. Some young punk pointed at the walkmen on his belt and laughed at it, like it was a relic from a forgotten time. Like it was worth pointing at and pointing out. Worse, the hot chick he'd been scoping out chuckled at it, too...but that was okay because then she smiled at him. And called it cute.

So screw that kid

But the worst of it was that he wanted something to drink, and maybe a snack, but Earth didn't take credits. And when he tried to find a place to exchange credits for dollars, he couldn't find a bank where the teller didn't laugh at him. Who knew his home planet was filled with a bunch of jerks? Just another reason for him to not come back; that everyone on the planet seemed to be a jerk.

But there were the hot chicks, too, so it lead to a debate in his head as he leaned against a brick building on a street corner and waited. Cosmicdude said he'd know the target when he saw him; walking duck. Which just sounded stupid, almost as stupid as a walking plant, or a walking, talking, Raccoon.

Almost, anyway.

"Hey, Duck." Star Lord piped up as he saw the duck waddle forth, coming off the wall with a light kick of his heel, moving a few feet to stand in front of the duck. "Universe is ending. Big cosmic looking dude told me where and when to find you; said this would be more important than a...Hou." Whatever that meant. "You wanna help? Some big reward in it for you," Quill added, giving the Duck the lie as instructed by the cosmicdude.

Let's get this rollin'!
Me, personally, it comes down to three factors:

1) I hate sample posts. (HaveIevermentionedthisbefore?)

2) Are the great characters taken, especially women? (There's just not a lot of great female characters in comics--subjective, I know.)

3) Can I jump into a scene with a friend from the get-go? It can be insanely difficult for me to keep focus and post a number of times before I can start collaborating; the very reason I do Group RPs to begin with.

During the heat of the semester, like now, I can sometimes only average one good post a week. So if that's not an issue for anyone, I could join a new comic game.
I could go modern or 80s, either way.
