Liking the concept. I'm guessing it was an animatronic that killed his wife? If so I think I've just the thing for William's history with Duck-Billed O'Malley.

"You saved them from another of your kind, and prevented reprisals against that individual creature."

I'm thinking O'Malley and his band came to the park at some point before Covid for a crossover event. During the event, one of the park's animatronics arranged an 'unfortunate accident' to claim William's life for nefarious purposes. But O'Malley was nearby when the accident happened and was able to save William just in the nick of time. Since the attempt was staged as an accident, neither William nor O'Malley were aware of the animatronic's role in making all of that happen, so there was never any reprisal against the perpetrator. Strangely enough though, relations between Scott Williams and Peter Greyson quickly soured in the wake of the accident and no future crossover events between the two venues were ever planned after that.

Cassidy's mother's maiden name is McDevitt. Cassidy herself never knew her maternal grandfather. But from what little she's learned about him over the years, she's decided that isn't such a bad thing.

Skobeloff arched an intrigued eyebrow at the realization that Rudrick and Shieldwing were behind them. "Huh. That's funny..." The drake mused to himself.

"Maybe we should go in and check on them? Make sure they're okay?" Stargaze spoke up then.

"Hold on a sec. There’s a thing you should know." Skobeloff said in response. "Rudrick and Shieldwing are close, but they're not here yet... Which is kinda weird. I mean, they left before us, we stopped for a bit when Tamba joined up, and Rudrick can literally fly. So they should be here already. But somehow we beat them here, and we didn't even bump into them on the way. Funny, right...?" After a moment, Skobeloff realized he'd gotten off topic. "Anyway, point is we've got choices. We could go check on the others... or we could just wait here for Rudrick and Shieldwing to show up. I don't really mind either way. So... what do you wanna do?"

Upon receiving no answer, Skobeloff decided to wait for the two stragglers to catch up.

"I have never felt better in all my life." Miss Light answered, giving no indication that she noticed the dwarf's hand when he waved it in front of her eyes. "All is right with the world."

"So you find joy in my presence or existence? I suppose that is one way of thinking; Finding joy in the company of others, even if they are just strangers," Feathreen said thoughtfully. "But...that answer does raise an issue. It can be easy to think something or someone is there, when they actually do not exist. So, how do I know that you exist? Or rather, how do you know that I exist?"

"I know you exist because something as beautiful as you couldn't possibly not exist." Was Miss Light's reply. "And you know I exist because you wouldn't have cast off from the jetty unless you were sure there were passengers on board your gondola."
