. . . . . .

She was strong. He was right. Frustrating as it may have been to give up on the fight he wanted to win, it was likely the correct choice to move under the protection of Aer. This confirmed that these people were after he or Aerith. That was a very unfortunate thing to have happen. It meant that he had done something before this most recent "checkpoint" that had drawn this mysterious group's attention. If he had to guess, it was warning his previous saviours of the impending ambush.

Despite his mind racing a mile a minute, he didn't voice out any of these thoughts. Now was not the time for it. Instead he focused his mind. Whispering under his breath, he cast his magic. His body strengthened, and his mind racing just a little bit less, he was ready for what was to come. He wouldn't be the primary combatant for what was to come. Still, he could do his best to follow up with what Aer needed. Even though these opponents were strong, and mysterious, he had long learned that they weren't invincible. He had functionally ended in a draw in his very first fight with them. And he could track the path of the weapons that were shot at them.

For a brief moment, he considered picking one of the weapons up. After a moment however, he discarded the idea. It was better to stick to what he knew. If he tried to use some random new bladed weapon, he was more likely to injure himself or an ally than he was to finish off an enemy. He would stick to his fists.

His breathing slowed and his stance widened. He was ready for the fight to come.

Back. Back again.

It was frustrating. So very aggravating. The rage that Hiro felt. The humiliation of losing. Over. And over. And over. It smoldered inside him. This was not to say he had never lost a fight before. Of course he had. He would lose all the time when h was growing up and training. Practicing. Improving. But never like this. It seemed that no matter what angle he took on his approach it was never enough. And that meant that he wasn't strong enough. Not strong enough to win his way out. It was a truly infuriating and baffling experience to him. Even with the addition of the little bit of magic he knew, it was not enough. He felt so close though. It always felt like he was just a hair from coming out on top. Still, it had been time to change plans. He would later come back at them with a vengeance. He would be stronger. He wouldn't lose.

These thoughts were so prevalent in his head that he had even forgot to keep thinking about ways to get back home to his own world. It just. It ate him up. But now was not the time to keep thinking such things. He saw the small figure. It wasn't just the house. It wasn't the place and time. It was one of them. Him or Aerith. But why?

The only thing that he could think of was the incidents with the robbers when they had first arrived in this world. There were no other times that he had drawn attention to himself. Not to his knowledge at least. Still, now was not the time to be pondering all of this. He voiced his thoughts to Aerith briefly before stepping up beside Aer. She seemed the helpful sort in the time that he had known her, and he had heard nothing but good things from the others. He didn't want to cause too much of a commotion in a public area though. However much he wanted revenge on the hooded figures that were after him, he didn't want to endanger anyone innocent. As such, as stated before, he stepped up beside Aer.

"Heads up. I think we're being followed. Don't draw too much attention if you check."

His voice was low. So low that it was unlikely that anyone other than Aer could hear him. Now, others might take this the wrong way if they were just watching, but it was more important to let the strong people around him not get caught off guard should something happen. And hell, maybe he was overthinking it. Maybe the figure just looked similar, or maybe they were just on their way to the house that he had been ambushed at previously. Still, it didn't hurt to be careful.

Back. Back again.

He remembered. The scorching pain of flames on his flesh. The grit of burned wound rubbing against itself while he fought. He remembered. Pain. But also, a stalemate. He didn't win. He hadn't expected it. Who in their right mind would guess that a magic flamethrower would fire at them. No one, that's who. But it didn't matter. What mattered was that he hadn't won that fight. It was. . . . frustrating. He was so sure in his victory, but it was not enough.

An now, he found himself back on this street. Back with the same people as before. Back having the same conversation. Did he die again? He couldn't remember. The last thing he remembered was blacking out. He supposed it was likely he had died if that was the case. Hmmm. Then there was a decision to be made. His heart was grim, but his face was still impassive. His mind raced. What was he going to do. There was absolutely a safer option than the one he took last time. Maybe if he stayed at the clinic no one would try to kill him. Maybe Fritzi was really the cause of all of this. The paths were open before him. One led to an inferno. The others were still dark and unknown. He felt the phantom pain of the flames across his body. Fuck. It hurt. He never wanted to suffer through that kind of pain again.

It was then, that he was called over. Aerith. She clearly also remembered. She was trying to get things sorted out. Hiro hoped that she would be able to plan around the fact that his decision was already made.

Hiro heard Chieko mention going with her group. That was probably a good option. Still, he smiled and patted her head before she turned and left.

"It's good you've found a path that keeps you safe. Keep an eye out for your friends."

He watched her leave before turning to Aerith. His eyes were set and his gaze was firm.

"This might sound strange, but I'm going with Fritzi again. I won't lose this time. It's something I have to face."

In one movement after that, he went over the Fritzi and informed her of his decision to come with her. For him it was once more, for her, it was the first time. Still, Hiro wanted to face that inferno again. He knew how this path would go, and he would face it.

This was certainly. . . not what he expected. To be immediately confronted with something outside the norm. Though maybe he should have expected it, given that very little time had passed while he was in this world without some catastrophic even occurring. And now, there was some person that he had never seen before who knew him. This was. . . . awkward to say the least. But he wasn't past the point of no return mentally yet.

That point came when he heard the door close behind him. The spell on his body was still functioning, as it had really only been a few moments since he had cast it. Every muscle in his body was taut. Ready to fire off at a moment's notice. His ragged breathing from panic steadied. He held his ground and opened his senses to the limits, waiting for any possible action to occur. This was how he won so many fights. Even though his physique was strong the say the least, he was a technical fighter. He used his superior sense to outmaneuver his opponent.

Still, his body was screaming at him that it was a dangerous situation and his mind agreed. He could die. It wouldn't be optimal, but it was possible. Before that happened, he had to gather as much information as possible. It might help him get out of it.

"What can I help you with? I'm not sure what you need."

The chair still held lightly in his arms was ready to be used as either a shield or a weapon, whichever was most necessary at the time.

It was then that Aerith attempted to open the door.

Hiro was. . . . certainly surprised when Fritzi pressed her forehead to his. Not embarrassed though. Absolutely not. He also didn't have a fever. His body just ran hot. Of course. There was definitely no other reason than that. Right. Anyway.

Hiro took a step back and waited to see what would happen. A cloud of dust. A stream of water. Those seemed. . . . . situationally useful at best. Though if Hiro could shoot a cloud of dust in someone's face mid fight, it would certainly make it easier. Still, he had yet to test out his own power. He closed his eyes and breathed deep. Wiping away the dirty surrounding around him. In an instant he was alone. Nothingness. Through just a few moments of steady breathing, he felt his body harmonize, all in balance. He was in as close to his peak physical and mental condition as he could be given the rather. . . . unfortunate circumstances he had found himself in. Taking one last deep breath, he almost sighed out the word.

"Jiwald."

It was almost that easy. He felt. . . lighter. Stronger. His body felt in a state just higher than his peak fighting form. If he went for the World Championship belt right now, he felt like his odds had gone up from around 70% to closer to 95% or even higher. It was amazing. Power, limitless energy flowed through him.

Now, the energy he had gained was obviously not limitless, but standing still and not using any of that energy felt pretty good. In short.

Regardless, his eyes shot open and a grin, more honest than any smile he had shown his entire time in this world, was plastered across his lips.

"Alright, well. I think we can get to work then. I'll move the furniture that needs to be taken outside. . . Oh. And Fritzi. You can just call me Hiro."

And just like his words, he got to work. Cleaning and moving furniture wasn't something that took up his whole mind, leaving him space to think. He had found something new. Of course he hoped that he would be able to go home as soon as possible, but at the same time he had found something. A path. A way to continue growing stronger. A way around the wall he had run into. It was almost a blessing to be brought here. Almost.

@Everyone lmao

Just when Hiro was falling into the flow of the conversation with Fritzi, it all went sideways. Everyone showed up. All the people. People from Earth. There were more of them. Honestly, Hiro had no idea how to take it all in. There was arguing and discussions abound, and he had no idea what he needed to do. That. . . elf. . . oh yes and elf. That was also most men's fantasies. . . . What would it be like to touch the tips of her pointy ears?

. . .

. . .

. . .

Anyway. . . . . . While they were conversing, young man dressed in clothes that were also clearly not from this world approached. On his approached he broached a rather thorny topic. Hiro was indeed that young boxer, but the way the question was asked seemed strange to him. It seemed as though the youth was just trying to feel him out. As such, Hiro decided he would answer in kind before addressing the real situation at hand. What would he do from here?

"My name is Nobuhiro Nishioka. Whether that answers your question is up to you."

The line was delivered evenly. He was clearly not mocking the young man, but he didn't want to answer him in a straightforward manner. That aside, it was time to decide what to do next. He could go with the elf and legally assert himself into this world. She had said that she was an adventurer, and if any profession fit him in this world, it as likely that. He didn't have that many skills to his name outside of his analytical mind and his fast eyes.

On the other hand, he could go with that exceptionally trustworthy seeming doctor. Something about the man drew Hiro to him. It also just so happened that some forms of medicine were Hiro's other skills. After all, before he got big, there were not always medical specialists around to treat Hiro's wounds from fighting. In his spare time in youth he had indeed studied bones and musculature to a small extent. At least to the extent that it could help him in a fight.

And last was Fritzi. Hiro couldn't deny that there was an appeal to working around such a beautiful girl all day, and though she was mysterious, she seemed to have a good heart. In fact, the very part of her being mysterious was something that drew him. He felt as though there were definitely things that he could learn about this world with her that he would never have learned otherwisealsomaybeifhewasaroundherlongenoughhewouldgettotouchheranimalears.

The choice was difficult, but it was made easier by the second as he saw people flocking to the elf's side. Part of the reason he was hesitating was the fact that he felt somewhat responsible for Chieko and Aerith. When he was the chuuni girl go toward the obviously strong adventurer's side, he felt relieved. He could make his choice. With all that said, Hiro turned back to Fritzi. He gave her a very real smile, unlike what he had been showing just a little while earlier.

"Thank you for the offer, I'd like to take you up on it. But first, I believe that someone promised me a free pair of shoes."

He flashed her a charming, toothy grin. He only wondered how many people would see past the the dullness of just cleaning houses and realize that the best way to learn of the area was to live the life.

Plus, something felt off about applying for a passport in this area when he should even really exist here. Even moreso after hearing talk of people stalking the streets with blood on the brain.

Unlike the others, Hiro did not pat the small girl on the head. He had already filled his quota of that in the last hour. Next time though. Probably. Anyway, he waited for everyone to finish speaking before adding on his two cents to the animal eared lady in front of him.

"That sounds great, I would be happy to be a repeat customer. My name is Hiro, and I will take that nicer outfit with the deep red shade and black trim. I feel like that one fits me the most."

He flashed a brilliant smile, illuminating his usually somber face. It was getting a little crowded here, but maybe that wasn't a bad thing. There were upsides and downsides to adding people to the group at this point. On the downside, it becomes increasingly likely that their secrets are found out and someone realizes that the three of them are truly not as they seem. On the other hand, when trying to blend in, you should be among a crowd. They would only stand out more and more if they were not with others. And the more people to blend in with, the less they would pop out to observers.

These thoughts were all running through Hiro's head while he carried on this conversation and observed his surroundings. Were one to pay close attention to him, they would realize that there was not a moment when the boxer's eyes stopped flicking from place to place. Taking in the surroundings and absorbing any information that could potentially be useful if something were to happen. His head was unfortunately filled with thoughts more than just how soft the animal eared beauty's ears must feel. Truly tragic.

Regardless, after voicing what he wished to purchase, he turned back to and dipped his head to Irene. He flashed another smile, but this one much more sincere than the showman's smile he had been showing earlier. His eyes were much softer than they had been all day while his lips curled up.

"Thank you both for your kindness. This place is like a whole new world to me and I'm not sure what I would have done if I hadn't run into kind people like yourselves."

Those words were from his heart. He remembered that they had been welcoming before he had died as well, and even if they just felt like they were repaying him for telling them of the ambush earlier, he knew more than that.

It didn't take a lot of waiting before Vasilis came back with their ride. When it arrived, Hiro stood. Impassive. The look on his face was unchanging, as though he had seen such a sight a thousand times before, and no longer had his childlike excitement over the ground dragons.

On the inside however, this was not the case.

"Oh god. Oh god. What. The. Fuck. Is. THAT!?!?!?"

His indifference was actually just Hiro being stiff with fear. He didn't know what to do. He didn't know how to react. Irene said it was fine, and the driver seemed to treat it like any horse or whatever. . . . But was that really okay!? That thing. Was. A dragon! What if it suddenly turned on them? Vasilis seemed extremely strong, but could he fight a dragon? Hiro seriously doubted it.

Still, he needed to man up. Man up and get in the box. Let the dragon pull him.

He didn't pet it.

Anyway, while they were seated in the carriage, Hiro mostly just sat back and listened. Obviously it took every ounce of his self control to not pour sweat while he sat there, pulled by a dragon. It really didn't bother him. Not at all. He could totally focus on the conversations going on around him.

About halfway through the trip, Hiro started to loosen up. In fact, a small smile crossed his lips when he saw the little Chieko next to him acting all aloof. While no one else was paying attention, he reached his hand over and pat her head.

"You did good earlier."

Eventually, they arrived at their destination. Hiro was only a little bit panicked as he got off the carriage. This panic only vanished when the cute wolf girl entered his site once more. Even though technically he was surrounded by a cute girls right now, there was nothing to be done. Animal girls were a man's justice after all. He couldn't be held accountable for the beliefs that he held deep down.

Regardless, he stepped forward to "discuss business" with the animal eared beauty.

"I don't believe we mind speaking informally. I personally am looking to purchase some clothing more in line with this country's customs."

It was then, that after patting around his pockets, the smile fell from his face.

"Ah. . . I seem to have left my money this morning. Haaaaaaa. I have no idea where it could be. Well. It seems that instead, I need information. Is there any thing that I could trade or somewhere I could earn money in this area?" He believed that he could probably trade a good number of things, including what he had on. He had been getting ready for a press interview before he was transported after all. That meant that he was wearing very high quality materials, some of which were probably considered such even in this world. At the very least, he had to ask.

Regardless of what happened, he could stay around Irene and Vasilis until they were no longer interested in having him around.

Thank god. He wasn't dead. Yet. Hiro's blood was still pumping, and adrenaline was still flooding though his body, but that didn't stop him from thinking rationally. He was used to the adrenaline. What he was not used to, was magic. People with flames shooting out around their body that can flip and fly around like they aren't even affected by gravity. That still bothered him. God, hopefully that would change eventually.

Regardless of his thoughts, he had saved the two people, and they had saved him in response. Good. That said, he was still a little off put that they were not trying to immediately leave the area that was likely still trying to figure out a way to murder them all. He would have to push for that as soon as possible. In fact, as soon as possible pretty much meant immediately.

Actually, wait. Aerith had clearly remembered what had happened. Chieko probably had as well. But it seems as though Irene and Vasilis had not. He hadn't really thought about it prior, but that was strange? What was the criteria? It seemed likely to him that the people that were originally from this world didn't remember the little time loop that they had previously been in. That was. . . . . interesting. It made for a bit of a dilemma. What were they to do if this happened again? Should they just take the same action that they knew would get them out of the immediate predicament? But what if that only caused the loop to happen once more?

This was a problem.

But now wasn't the time to worry about that. It was time to get out of here and hope that nothing untoward would happen once more. He forced a smile.

"Ah, yes. My name is Hiro. Pleased to make your acquaintance. Now, as much as I would love to get to know more about this place and you, may I recommend that we relocate to an area that hasn't recently tried to kill us?"

The smile on his face said that it didn't really matter to him either way, but he hoped that his words would be enough. Hopefully Vasilis wasn't cocky enough to ignore any present danger for laughs. At the very least, he seemed to listen to Irene, and she seemed the smart sort.

"Guhaaaaah."

With a gasp of fresh air, the surroundings changed. His vision was no longer tainted red and fading to black. Instead, Hiro found himself standing where had he been probably only a couple of minutes prior. He was back somehow. That was good. That meant he wasn't dead. Had he just imagined it all? Was it all some sort of extension of this seemingly long acid trip?

No.

That wasn't possible. He knew that that wasn't the case as soon as the girl, 'Aerith' she said her name was, called out his name. They had stood here before. She even brought up those two people that they had met before it happened. Fuck.

FUCK!

It still hurt. Hiro could feel the blades piercing his skin and the bludgeon ending his life. He was no stranger to getting hit in the face, but a lethal swing was something different. It had imprinted itself on his psyche. That one moment was something that he wasn't going to forget for as long as he lived.

However long or short that might be.

But he had to think. There had to be a way out of this situation. What happened? An ambush. He could still feel the rush of bodies flooding out onto the streets. Was there any warning? Any signs? Hiro dug through his mind, hoping to remember if anything had happened to signal they were about to get jumped.

. . .

. . .

. . YES!

A flash of inspiration passed. When they were walking down the streets, those windows had been open, but just before the ambush they were pulled shut. But why were they chosen? Details. He needed to think of the details. The rags of his attackers stuck out in his mind. They were poor. Very poor. It was obvious by his clothing, and partially by his companions and the other two that they had met that they were well off. Fine materials and fabrics. Obviously they would be targeted in a slum like this. Now. What to do?

Every instinct in his body told him to turn tail and run. But to where? They were already heading in the direction that seemed toward the wealthier districts before then. The other direction would probably just lead them even further into the slums, and that would only spell disaster.

Hiro took a deep breath to straighten out his mind and still his pounding heart. He couldn't panic. Calm. Think it through calmly. Those bandits weren't trained, and he was sure he could handle a couple of them in a fight. He just had to worry about another large ambush like before.

If that was the case, he had to move fast. Aerith probably had the right idea. They needed contacts in the area. And someone that could handle themselves on the mean streets like this. It was only now that Hiro took a moment to glance over at his remaining companion. The little chuuni girl who reminded him of darker times. She seemed worried and unsure. It only then crossed his mind that she must have been in an even worse state than he was. She didn't even have the power to fight back. It must have felt terrible.

The tension drained a little from his frame and his eyes softened from their usually short glare.

"We have to go help. Those two people are our best ticket to a safer situation right now."

His voice was soft, but firm. With one swift movement, he grabbed Chieko's hand and took off running down the road. In the same direction they had gone prior. It didn't take them long before they made it to the area they had just been ambushed and passed it. The window was still open and he didn't see any sign of attack yet.

He kept running. He made sure to keep a pace that the younger girl could maintain, but they had to meet in an safer spot. He had to move faster. He wasn't far behind Aerith when she made contact.

He ran past. He made sure that when he passed, his voice could be heard, but he was not so close as to trigger any protective response out of Vasilis.

"I saw signs of an ambush up ahead. Care."

He did what he could. The most important thing to do now was get to safety with Chieko.

And so he ran. If Chieko was too tired, he would pick her up and carry her, but they had to get to a safer area.

He ran.
