Well what if he nullified all pain but then he suddenly combust into flames? He wouldn't be able to feel is so how would he know it's fake? Plus Lobos doesn't always try to induce pain through mental abuse. He can simply say he has a clone clone fruit and make 50 clones while the real one just sneaks from behind and strikes. Buuuut that's not his fighting style most of the times xD he'll probably just go out fighting regularly at first

its more the fact he has no fear of pain to make him hesitant that would make it easier for him to figure out
