Bio

I'm an adult with a family and responsibilities that take priority, as well as mental health issues that can cause me to not get on this site for periods of time. Just know I will get back to you - hopefully within a few days. Right now my schedule is in flux until I get everything figured out properly so I cannot make promises to respond quickly.

If you've come here looking to RP, please note right now I'm not accepting any new projects. Thanks for the interest, and I wish you luck on your quest.

I recently started working on getting published, and have self published one story so far. Check it out on Amazon - Into the Night by Alexia Wynd. You can also check out more of my work - short stories and the like - at my recently started Patreon: patreon.com/storiestocaptivate

The talk with Lavinia had gone well. The plans to make things up to Gwen...had gone as expected. Training with Gwen was, not exactly as unpleasant as it had been when they were younger, but exhausting nonetheless. The fact it was better than when they were younger was likely because the training was her idea instead of forced onto her. It would have been better if they didn't train exactly Gwen's way, but she was trying to make up snapping at her sister - so she didn't argue the remote training while in the buff.

Saving a girl and her family, and inadvertently recruiting her into the guild in the process, on the way back had been just a bonus to traveling so far to go train. But that was nothing of a shock compared to the bustle of activity the guildhall transformed into in their absence. What was once a quiet, nearly empty hall doubling as a tavern, had transformed into quite the hub of activity. There was never a shortage of tables to wait - or people looking to talk to someone in the guild. Her sister had drawn quite the fan base, though clearly not for reasons she liked. Ria, herself, politely dismissed admirers that thought she might be a bit more forthcoming than her sister.

As it turned out, spending two weeks helping sell her business helped. Not as much as she hoped, but it was good. Good enough she was getting a bit more confident on being able to maintain it if she were to go out on missions. In fact, it was just good enough that she'd managed to connect a few new applicants with some previous ones still waiting for matches. It was still too early to tell, but Perry and Laki seemed quite happy still the last time they stopped in for lunch yesterday. Now she was at a pretty important impasse in what to do. Continue trying to expand the business, or give it up to help with jobs. There was no shortage since they had come home, so it wasn't like there was any need to save jobs for the others in the guild. Besides, if she was honest with herself, she did like training with Gwen, and utilizing her magic more than just letting it idle while she played happy assistant innkeeper.

It couldn't hurt to take a mission to decide, she thought as she looked at the board. With all the bustle of everything going on, she found herself tuning everything out rather than trying to take it all in. Her gaze passed over all the listings - some of which she'd helped make the space to hang up - as her sister dodged fans and even Holly said something to the room.

Her gaze stalled on the posting asking for assistance with a student uprising in Era. Leon went there, so maybe he'd be willing to help quell a bit of rabble. It would certainly make things easier if he was still on the roster, and even moreso help blend if some of the people knew he was a student and didn't know he joined a guild. The rank was below her status, but it was above his. The perfect blend, really. And maybe being on campus would be good - give her an excuse to be away for longer given how weird Lavinia had been acting recently. Not so much avoiding, but the blood mage seemed to come down with something every time they talked recently.

With a shrug, the water mage took the flier with her as she turned and glanced around the hall until she finally spotted Leon. She walked over with the usual chipper skip in her step to stop in front of Leon. A broad smile graced her face. "Good morning, Leon. I was wondering if you'd like to come with me on a job." She offered the older mage the flier in her hand.

"I'm doing fine, and so is Asher." Ria chirped in her usual chipper way, with a glance at Lavinia after assuring their newest guildmate was okay. They still seriously needed to talk, especially if Lavinia was going to be so loud and seemingly proud about the state of his genitals after her swift rearranging of them. The reason why her favorite reading companion had reacted in such a way was still confusing. She couldn't think of any reasons for it - rational or otherwise. At least if Gwen had done it... Which only served to remind her that she still needed to talk to Gwen and figure out how she could make amends with her sister for reacting so poorly.

With a blink her attention turned to Holly. It was just like their armored powerhouse to hand wave her condition. Especially at the benefit of others. But the water mage wasn't going to be deterred so easily. "Just because you can handle pain, doesn't mean you need to." The smile was back in place and she bent at the waist to examine the armor a bit. She might not have been a smith like Asher, but she could certainly pick up on damage to it. "Just like an ice bath, but not as shocking, alright?"

The younger mage didn't wait for a response that it was okay or not. She put a finger to the gap between Holly's helmet and chest piece. "Rejuvenating Waters." Just like before, the water of the spell flowed from her finger to fill up Holly's suit and soak into her skin. Unlike before, of it seeking out to replenish her energy and heal, it would feel refreshingly cool on her sore muscles, and colder where she was bruised. Ria didn't have the power left to put into it to heal deep wounds, but minor cuts and some of the bruising would certainly be mitigated. "Now you two should get on the ship before they decide to disembark without some of us."

Ria's attention turned to Lavinia. "I'm going to make sure Luke is okay since he was up close with the thing. Then you and I are going to have a little chat about that groin injury our friend Asher had." Her voice had lost that chipper tone. These were facts. She was going to check on Luke, and while she left out the part about talking to Gwen, she certainly was going to make sure she got to the bottom of why Lavinia had kicked poor Asher.

With that, she turned and headed off to where her sister and their not-brother were boarding the ship. It only took a quick assessment to realize Luke was still injured. She had no doubts that had Leon not been focused on healing Felix, he would have helped out Luke. But an unconscious kid certainly took priority over someone with just a gash on their head. Still, she cast her spell again, and offered it to him to actually heal the wound while she summoned up a tiny bit of water to help wipe the blood from his face.

Her attention turned to Gwen. "I need to talk to Lavinia about why she reacted the way she did to Asher. After that, I would like to discuss us, perhaps, taking the next week or so away from the guild to train? Just us. Or, something else?" She wasn't saying the part they both knew - that this was to make up for her being a jerk when Gwen was just concerned about her because she'd forgotten her sister had just met Asher and Cloven in the minutes leading to them entering Era. "Think about it. I'll check back in with you guys when I'm done with Lavinia."

Ria spared a glance toward Gwen as her sister ran. That painful ache in her chest reared its head again when she did. She'd make it up to her. Things would be okay between them again. Right now, it would just hurt, but she could manage. She always managed. Which was why she turned her attention fully to Asher when the older mage drank the water.

A cheerful smile blossomed on her face as she watched the healing waters take affect. It was slow, and she couldn't actually see the healing process, but she saw it in how he relaxed. A soft chiming laugh escapes her at his comment. "Thanks, but I think I'm a bit more mortal than that."

Her gaze turned to the others around them. The people approaching now that the water was gone and her sister had fled. She didn't lose her smile. Simply standing and moving to be the shield between Asher as he regained his composure and the crowd, but kept her back to the crowd for now. It looked like everything was going well. People were being helped, most of the injuries had been dealt with. It hadn't looked like Leon got around to healing Luke but at least it looked like Felix was going to be okay, and Lavinia healed Zenith just fine. Lilliana looked okay. Marduk looked well in control. Cloven was showing off. Gwen...she'd put off that longer. Holly might need some more help; she had run back into the fray. Gras -

Asher drew her attention again with his offer. Her smile grew a bit more cheerful with a soft laugh. "Yeah, I need to at least check on Holly and maybe heal up Luke. Other than that, it's just the townspeople, and there are good hospitals and other healers in this city."

With that, Ria turned to go over to check on Holly. Only for a group of people to swarm her. It seemed some of them had talked to her sister before with some of the questions. True to her nature, she put on a smile and gave pretty simple answers. Yes, the nudist was her sister, no she wasn't ashamed of that. Yes, it was awkward sometimes, no she wasn't going to try to convince her sister to change her nature.

Then there were the other questions. Like about what happened between the two guildmates - one attacking the other. If she was dating the half-naked guy. Or if she was dating anyone. These threw her off but she still managed to answer with a smile and her usual cheerful tone. It was a misunderstanding, no she wasn't dating anyone. And having to add in a polite rejection to someone that asked if he could take her for dinner in thanks for helping protect the city. "All I did was keep the dragon from razing the city in fire. The others deserve the real thanks. Perhaps one of them would accept the offer?" Though she wasn't entirely sure why the guy blushed when a few others laughed and nudged him; maybe it was a joke she hadn't caught on to?

"If you'll excuse us, as much as we love the attention, it was a difficult fight. As others have said, we would all appreciate a bit of space to properly recuperate after the fight. If you are interested in contacting any of us, our guild is located in Crocus. Outside of that, distance is appreciated. Thank you." Ria offered a slight wave and more cheerful smile as a parting before continuing on her way to Holly and the others.

The skip was even back in her step by the time she stopped next to Lavinia. "How is everyone here doing? Holly, are you still okay after I healed you in the fight? I was focused on the fires after you jumped back in. Just want to check in on my way around." Okay, so maybe it was a stall tactic to give her and Gwen some more time apart before she went over to heal up Luke. It was also partially a distraction from the fact Lavinia was right there. Yes, Lavinia was right there and could heal Holly if she wanted, but she was also probably tired from fighting and then healing. They still needed to talk about the whole her kicking Asher thing, but that could wait. For now, she wanted to just keep herself busy and she'd deal with all the confusing stuff one at a time later. Just like Mom used to say: How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.

So much happened so quickly, Ria wasn't entirely certain there was an order to it. Her brain felt like it was on lag from, well, everything. Asher's magic was warming, especially with the same warmth seeping in through the cloak on her back from his arms wrapping around her to help, and it certainly helped her start feeling warmer. Her brain just felt sluggish. Especially when Lavinia and Gwen approached. Only for - in rapid succession - Lavinia to kick Asher extremely hard in a very sensitive spot after shouting for him to die and calling him a freak, Cloven to say some really confusing things that hit something inside and confused her further, and her sister threatening two of their guild-mates while insinuating she didn't have the right to give permission for others to touch her as well as demanding an explanation...while disrobed.

Her eyes grew with each subsequent issue. Her mouth opened to respond to any of what happened as Asher crumbled to the ground and Lavinia stormed off and Cloven left his own way. All she managed to do was wide eye look from one guild mate to another with an increasing sense of panic at the unfolding situation. Her arms dropped to her sides, letting go of Marduk's cape. The cloth fluttered to the ground around her feet. All she'd wanted was to be able to warm up so she could be useful still. There were people around them. People that probably still needed help. There were buildings destroyed right outside the Magic Council's head quarters. There were still members of their own guild that were down.

An ache built in her chest and clouded up her head. But at least she didn't feel cold anymore. Not in the same sense as she did. She felt...numb?

Lips that almost never frowned cracked at the edges, the slightest down turn as she finally focused back on her sister. "Explain myself?" Her voice remained even, though not with her normal cheer. Just...even.

She flicked her hand out toward her sister while her other arm moved in a wide arcing gesture. Muddy water from the ground around them swirled up to wrap around Gwen's chest and waist as a makeshift tubetop and mini skirt respectively as other water swirled up to form a thin barrier around the trio (with poor Asher almost forgotten on the ground to recover from the hit) from the growing crowd. "There is nothing for me to explain. Asher was assisting me and Cloven was talking to me. Whereas you are threatening members of our guild, in front of a crowd of strangers, after Lavinia attacked one of them."

That ache in her chest built. She tried to ignore it like she always did, but it kept pushing back. That tiny frown was all she afforded to slip through her carefully built defenses. It made her head hurt. Why did Lavinia kick him anyways? She isn't impulsive enough to do something like that. Especially since she didn't even make some maniacal laugh or quip or...anything to help explain the sudden outburst. And what did - She stopped before she continued to ask that last question. The pang in her chest hurt more, and she could feel the temptation for water to build in her eyes. She closed her eyes and focused on breathing calm.

No, she wasn't going to cry. It was fine. She could fix the pain Lavinia had caused Asher. She would figure out why Lavinia was acting erratic and help her work it out. Gwen was just being protective; she'd been unconscious and woke to see someone she had only met when they were being sent on this mission hugging her sister. Then Cloven...Okay, why did he have to be so confusing? She needed to breathe and put on the good face. They were in a city the guild had saved from really being destroyed, surrounded by strangers that were looking for information. There were people still trapped in places; Rune Knights were already working to help, but that didn't mitigate the tension still in the air. There was no time in this moment for her to have issues when there were others that needed the help.

She just needed to breathe. Why did the air around them make it feel so hard to breathe?

What chill may have left Ria looking pale surely lifted. She looked her normal vibrant color, if not a bit more pink from head to toe from the thoughts racing through her head. It certainly wasn't from the warmth Asher had been helping her with before, but Just take a breath, count to ten, and release it. She heard her mother's voice in her head as a comfortable whisper, a memory of her early days of controlling her magic and getting frustrated she wasn't advancing as quickly as was expected. So she did just that, took a breath, counted to ten, and released it.

She opened her eyes and the frown left her face. "Gwen, please go check on Luke. We still have guild mates that need my help, and I haven't checked in with him since the fight stopped. Felix got hurt, really bad, and Luke went to check on Leon healing him. I'll come check in with both of you when I'm done helping the others that need it. Okay?"

Though Ria didn't give Gwen the chance to say if it was okay or not. She simply turned her attention to Asher as the barrier of water fell down around them. Crouching beside the injured mage, she put a hand on his shoulder and cupped her other hand next to his mouth. "Rejuvenating waters," she said as a ball of glowing water swirled into existence in her hand. "Here, drink this. It will help you recover from...Lavinia."
@KnightsTemplar sorry, didn't see this because I have this list archived.

Ria's brows rose upon hearing Cloven's voice behind her. She turned, hugging the cloak tighter when the movement kicked it up away from her bare legs. Perhaps next time she would keep this little incident in mind and control what she chilled better. It was a snap moment judgement call that she hadn't exactly thought through to try to help save the silly boy's brain. As long as Leon could heal up the other injuries. But none of that had to do with the present predicament of the dark robed mage offering to warm her in exchange for answers to questions.

"Um..." was all she got out before Asher spoke up.

She glanced at Asher for a moment while he spoke before turning back to Cloven. How do I let him down gently? An apologetic smile twitched onto her face until she could hold it without it trembling in her chill. "Cloven, that's a very nice offer. Like Asher said, I do need to warm quickly so I can get back to helping the others. I can't exactly cast properly while cold." Her smile warmed up a little more.

"But if you have questions for me, we can certainly talk once we're done helping with the clean up here and are back at the guild." The fact he wanted to charge his warmth for questions was intriguing after all. It made her wonder what he wanted to ask. If they were questions she had answers for. Hopefully she remembered this, in case he dropped it as soon as they left; she would make it a point to start the question and answer session.

She turned back to Asher, and the smile vanished for a brief second. Her eyes widened and brows rose to see the older mage had removed his shirt and had taken on the slightest glow. That quite flash of surprise vanished under an appreciative smile. "Short of having a proper insulating coverage - " and for me to not be wearing wet clothes too "this will certainly have to suffice."

Ria stepped forward and pressed her body against Asher's. Her arms tucked up to unintentionally create a partial barrier between her chest and his torso, but more to help funnel his heat into her core. It left her fists pressed up under her chin as she turned her cheek to rest against his shoulder.

Her gaze drifted over the others, passing over Lavinia sitting with Gwen - who thankfully was awake again. She'd have to check on how her sister was doing after she was warm and so long as everything else was being cared for. They could still prove useful in rescue and clean up efforts and that kind of took precedence over mental well being.

The smile on her face faded when she saw Zenith was still on the ground and no one had helped him yet. Why hadn't...? Her gaze snapped back over to Lavinia. "Lavinia, sweetie?" She managed to call out loud enough for her voice to carry. The heat radiating from Asher was already helping. "Can you please help Zenith?" She motioned with a shift of her elbow. "He could use some healing and I'm not quite able to help him right now."

The fleeting warmth of the hand on her shoulder, helping steady her, didn't last as long as Ria liked. It hadn't been until the cloak draped over her that the girl realized just how chilled she felt. The last time she felt this cold...Right. The water... Was she truly so tired that she spaced on the fact she'd just managed to convert the temperate rain into a sphere of frigid water? That was entirely possible. She was already tired going into the day.

Leon was helping Felix, and Marduk found Gwen. Marduk found Gwen unconscious, her brain corrected a few seconds too late. Her eyes widened and she moved to stand, but barely managed to sit back on her heels without shivering too badly. Instead, her hands gripped the edges of the cloak the older mage had placed on her and hugged it tightly around herself. It wasn't much, given that it was as soaked as her own clothes, but it was better than mostly bare arms. She wanted to stand up to go help Gwen, but she wasn't going to be doing her sister any good. Not being so cold her teeth chattered already. Besides, the unfortunate thing was there wasn't any damage to heal, and she wasn't entirely sure she could summon up the strength to heal anyone right at that moment.

The ground shook, pulling her attention toward their two strongest mages and some guy that had just punched a hole in the dissipating clouds overhead. Blinking helped clear her sight enough to realize...she really needed to warm up. Her gaze drifted over the others until she finally spotted where Asher had gotten off to.

Just gotta manage to stand up and go over there. Not too far, she promised herself. It took a bit of effort, and one hand had to leave the cloak to brace on her thigh to stand, but she managed. Small steps brought her slowly closer to the other mage. She finally stopped, desperately hugging Marduk's cloak around her as she fought to control the shivers shaking her body, just inside arm's reach but trying not to crowd him.

"Asher?" She paused and cleared her throat to try to speak louder than the drained whisper his name came out as. "Would you mind lending some body heat? I ended up chilling myself while I was trying to help Felix. I need some help warming up."
No rush. We won't be picking back up until Saturday at the earliest.

It wasn't until she was shaken that Ria's concentration on the spell finally broke. She switched her footing to catch herself from falling at the sudden break in focus. What was once a torrential downpour calmed in mere seconds to a nice relaxing rain; it would clear up soon, but given the amount of latent magic discharged in the atmosphere that could be minutes or an hour. Her eyes shot open and her arms slowly lowered to her sides. It took a moment for her to process what the guy - Asher, her brain reminded her a few seconds too late - was saying. It was over? "We won?" she parroted as her brain fumbled to grasp the concept. The dragon was huge and powerful. No, not dragon - right, from what she read, dragons didn't do that.

Her gaze swept out past the barricade, her brain only vaguely recognizing Asher said something else, to look at the rubble and death beyond it. The not dragon was turning into specks of light and drifting upward. Dragons didn't do that. Not from anything she read. Maybe Grasidia would have more information to share. When the time was right.

A soft dusting of pink colored her cheeks and a smile touched her lips at Asher's final passing remark. I actually saved people. I put out the fires. I chose the right spells, she thought to herself. Was it wrong to feel giddy at that moment? With so much destruction around them that she couldn't prevent, it felt like it should be wrong to be happy about putting out the other fires. That despite not going with her gut to put up walls to prevent further damage, she prevented spreading fires. A shake of her head brought her out of these thoughts. They wouldn't do well to dwell. She'd just let herself feel happy about what she was able to do.

With a little jump, Ria trotted off to follow Asher to the others gathering with Grasidia. She slowed from the slight skipping steps to a more subdued walk as her gaze scanned the members gathered. The smile slowly faded, and her brows pulled together. "Luke, where's-" Her attention turned to Luke, only to spot Felix definitely hurt and definitely unconscious near her brother. The question froze in her throat.

Rushing those few last steps, Ria knelt beside the boy. She reached out to check his pulse but pulled back sharply and shook her hand. Too hot to the touch. Her head snapped up to Luke first, but her gaze traveled to the others. "Where's Gwen? He's burning up. I'm going to try to cool him, but please, someone find Gwen."

She turned her attention back on the boy unconscious before her. She didn't feel strong enough right then to use rejuvenating waters; she'd get the spell off but it would do basically nothing. She'd used too much energy for the storm. Her brain raced through a dozen different options in a few seconds before she summoned up a small bubble of water entrapping air around it. She placed the bubble over Felix's mouth and nose before holding her hands out over his body. Her eyes closed. The rain falling around them pulled toward her hands, collecting to grow larger and larger and encase him in a sphere of water that lifted him off the ground to suspend him in the liquid. The air bubble over his mouth and nose would allow him to keep breathing, and let the water do it's work.

Her brows furrowed as she concentrated on the water around him. It was growing hot from the heat radiating off him; that wouldn't do. She touched the water and focused on the sensations she felt of diving in the frigid northern seas, the chill of the water; she focused on that memory and forced the water around Felix to chill like the water she thought about. She wasn't sure when, but at some point she'd started shivering. Her skin felt clammy, and it was getting harder to focus on keeping the water around Felix cold.

It wasn't until she gasped for air, not realizing she'd been holding her breath for - well she didn't know when it'd started - that she finally dropped her hands to her sides to catch herself from falling over. Each breath came as a thirsty heave. The shaking didn't stop, and she wasn't entirely sure she could even move one of her hands from being braced beneath her without falling over. Her gaze weakly focused on the unconscious boy before her.

The water encasing Felix would slowly wash away, lowering the boy to the ground rather than violently dumping him. The air bubble around his mouth and nose washed away with the rest of the water to collect in a puddle underneath him.
