Bio

I'm an adult with a family and responsibilities that take priority, as well as mental health issues that can cause me to not get on this site for periods of time. Just know I will get back to you - hopefully within a few days. Right now my schedule is in flux until I get everything figured out properly so I cannot make promises to respond quickly.

If you've come here looking to RP, please note right now I'm not accepting any new projects. Thanks for the interest, and I wish you luck on your quest.

I recently started working on getting published, and have self published one story so far. Check it out on Amazon - Into the Night by Alexia Wynd. You can also check out more of my work - short stories and the like - at my recently started Patreon: patreon.com/storiestocaptivate

Yeah, I'm sure that's fine.

This was crazy. As soon as she put the roar out, it was shooting more flames. This wasn't like any dragon she'd read about. The fact it seemed to be regenerating and growing stronger with each burst of flames. Ria blinked. That was it. Gwen's ice could help, but not directly. They needed more than just cyclones.

Of course, the dragon sent tremors through the ground and if it wasn't for Asher's little bunker, she was pretty sure she would have been toasted along with buried. She only barely recovered before Marduk lay Holly next to her. Heal one of their strongest mages? She nodded, unable to get a word out before the old man was off. Her gaze snapped down to Holly.

She knelt next to the armored mage. Placing a hand at the seam where Holly's helmet met her chestplate, she closed her eyes for a moment. "Rejuvenating waters." The water poured from her hands, glowing a brilliant blue as it flowed into the armor to soak against Holly's clothing and skin. As it was absorbed, it would give her back energy, make the aches hurt a little less, and stop any bleeding. Broken bones wouldn't mend, not fully anyways, but they would certainly hurt less and be useful. Likely they'd all end up hurting come the dust settling. "Best I can do without you drinking it, and we don't have time for that."

Standing, she looked up at the chaos still exploding around them. "We need to keep the fires at bay." Her gaze drifted over everything. This was far more destruction than she wanted to be around. So many people were without homes because she didn't notice it sooner. How did she not see it sooner?

Her attention turned to Holly for a moment. "Get back in the fight." Her gaze shifted to Asher. "Please stay close. I'm going to need cover."

That was all the warning the water mage gave. She closed her eyes and braced her feet. Raising her hands above her head, a large magic circle appeared under her feet, and another matched swirling over her head. Wind kicked up around her, blowing her clothing around violently. A scowl crept onto her face, but she didn't notice. She focused her energy into the toward the clouds and sky.

Darkness swirled overhead. The clap of thunder. The circles exploded into tiny sparkles. Then came the rain.

First, a drop here and there. Not more than a breath later and the skies seemed to open up in a downpour. Her brows furrowed, muscles locking to keep her held firmly in her stance. The noise around her died beneath the sounds of the water falling to the ground, onto fires and dusty debris to put out the flames. The only smell wafting into her nose was the rain. Droplets hitting her skin and soaking her clothes helped calm her panicking nerves. All she could focus on was the clouds overhead, and sending as much rain as quickly as possible down onto the city below.

Riding on the leaf was quite the surprising experience. It was remarkably smooth yet she had no desire to look over the edge. Ria could feel it in her chest how fast they were going, and it was certainly a lot faster than she felt a human really should travel. Maybe they'd get a ride back the normal way instead of speeding through the sky with naught but their magic to protect from a fall. To say her thoughts were preoccupied by the travel conditions and left her oblivious to anyone around her was an understatement. Especially when she realized just how close Cloven was sitting to her only when they were thrown by the leaves.

She didn't think twice about the decent, instead reflexively casting "Water Make Cushion" as she fell toward the ground. Water swirled up to shape into a dramatically over-sized pillow and helped soften the impact to let her land delicately - though not entirely caring of the fact she was in a skirt and hadn't bothered covering up the fact that wind didn't work with gravity in a fall.

Smoldering buildings, bits still on fire, the dragon readying to roar. She stood still and swept her surroundings, trying to take everything in at once. There was way too much to process. Just like home. Her pulse quickened but it felt like a lump of ice filled her chest. Her eyes widened as she fought to keep her breathing normal. You're stronger than last time. You can do this. You have more control than last time. You can do this. She told herself enough lies for other things, and ended up believing them. Theoretically, this lie should work too, right?

Gwen yelled something, taking her attention back to the chaos before her. "Right." She nodded. Fires could go out later. The important thing right now was making sure it couldn't cause any further damage. Especially when it was blowing more fire.

Ria ran and slid on her feet to stop behind Asher's cover. The way she stopped had her feet braced perfectly for her spell. Her eyes narrowed as she scowled at the huge beast. "Cyclone!" Thrusting her hands out together, a torrent of water shot forth - spiraling larger and larger the further away from her hands it got - to engulf the flames being shot at them and hopefully put them out. If this worked, she knew what she'd be doing from this point out.
I'm up for going on hold. If when you come back you aren't feeling it, I'll support dropping it.

Crash. Ria flinched when she finally heard the racket from the kitchen. There'd been a pixie summoned, right? Oh no. Right. That was going to be quite the mess. Well, then she would be helping Leon clean the mess. After all, the poor boy couldn't be left to take care of the dishes used to make everyone lunch; those weren't his fault. She was about to reassure Leon he wasn't going to be alone in cleaning when the guild master drew attention.

Wait. Era? A dragon? She looked at Gwen, trying to gauge how her sister felt about having to go back. Not good, but then again, it was to go after a dragon. Geeze, a dragon. That was both terrifying and amazing. She'd read plenty on dragons and the wars mages waged with them, about their strengths and weaknesses, the special skills slayers possessed in order to defeat them. It would be great to see one in person, but if it was angry enough to attack the city's capitol - the Mage Council of all things - then it was likely not something to be taken lightly. She couldn't let herself get distracted.

"Wait, what?" Ria blinked, realizing that was exactly what she'd done. She heard her name called by Gwen, and...They were going? They were all seriously going to take on the dragon because Torys intercepted a distress call? It would get the guild some recognition, something they needed given how slow it was getting any kind of business for their various minor enterprises, but this was a bit crazy.

Which was exactly why she needed to go. She couldn't just leave any of them to an uncertain fate. Not when she could help protect them from serious injury. "Okay."

She turned to Torys with a smile. "I hate to leave the guild in such a state, but it seems like one of Leon's pixies make the kitchen into quite the state. Leon and I will take care of it all when we get back. I recently placed up some more fliers so if anyone comes to register for the matchmaking service, could you please have them fill out one of the forms? There's a stack behind the bar. Standard rate is seven thousand jewels per form, up front, and I have a folder under the forms for filled out registrations."

That was when she heard Zenith protesting Felix coming. While the younger mage didn't need defense, he also didn't need doubt. "Why should his age matter?" Ria asked with a blink. "We're supposed to encourage growth in each other. Benching him when he's capable and anxious for a fight only stifles that growth." It wasn't like they were sending Felix to fight by himself. She wasn't going to point it out aloud for Felix's sake, but the guild proper was going to be there. They would make sure he didn't die. Getting hurt, well worst things could happen.

Sandwich math done again, she made sure to collect another two sandwiches since Felix didn't want his. They still had a few members that needed to eat. As she passed Holly, she offered the armored mage one before continuing out to join what was the rest of her 'team'. She offered one to Lilliana and the other to Cloven. "Here, you two should eat. Lilliana, I know you must be hungry after just getting back. Cloven, always good to have something in your stomach to give you energy for a fight, and you should team up with us."

There hadn't really even been much of a beat between her offer and the production of the sandwiches. That was perfect. Zenith seemed to be on the same page. "Thank you, Zen. I'll help with the dishes after I finish tidying up." She moved from behind the counter anyway, making sure to pass out the sandwiches.

"Welcome back, Gwen," Ria cherped as her sister headed straight for the food. Luke and Holly both beat her to telling her twin to put on some kind of clothing, so she redirected. She was about to ask her sister where Lilliana was, until the other slayer entered the hall - and assisted with the clothing predicament. "Welcome back, Liliana. How was the mission?" It was customary for her to try to engage the guild's resident dragon slayer whenever the girl made an appearance. Given the state of the girl, she wasn't surprised to not receive a response. Surely the older mage wasn't going to be coming back down to eat anytime soon. She'd make sure the girl had food. Well, perhaps they could just make her something else when she woke up. This sandwich wasn't particularly good cold.

Instead, the water mage served up three more sandwiches, and expertly carried them with her as she walked toward Lavinia and Marduk. She didn't interrupt the conversation, but placed a plate before each of them on the small table near the couch. She turned to Felix before he addressed her, intending to hand him the last plate.

To say his request surprised her was an understatement. Her brows shot up and her mouth even dropped open in a soft 'o' for a moment. A quick blink, and the look vanished behind her standard cheerful smile. She offered him the sandwich. "Here, you should have something to eat before you start training. But, unfortunately, Sweetie, I have quite a bit of chores to do left today. Maybe some other time?"

While some might have been restless because of the lack of jobs, Ria managed to keep herself busy just fine. The guild may not have hosted all that many as customers of either their talents or their food, but that didn't meant there weren't chores to do. Things needed to be kept tidy - just in case. One could not simply overlook chairs out of place, dust on tables, or dirt on the floor. It didn't matter if the tasks were completed the other day - fresh particulate would come whether the guild was a bustling place of business or not. She hoped it would be the former sometime soon, if only for the sake of getting at least one or two of their mages out of the hall and helping others. Until then, though, there would be other things more pressing.

Like running errands around town. She'd already finished her shift as guild cook, and cleaned the pots and pans she'd used to make breakfast for the guild members that came in earlier in the day. The errands weren't truly necessary - mostly window shopping after her telling herself she was looking for something other than the selection of flowers she chose to grow in planters around the guildhall to give the place more color - but they helped her get her face out there. Her name and her little business of helping people connect with just the right others were becoming well known - at least, when compared to the name Fenixtear. Enough people knew about it, and used it, to help pay the bills and keep the guild fed. That was what counted, right? Eventually people would know more about Fenixtear, be looking for a guild of talented individuals to help them with their problem...a guild that didn't charge the insane rates of more widely known guilds.

Today wasn't really much of a chatty day with the town proper though. It'd been a few days since she slept any significant amount of time, and she was starting to feel it. The bounce wasn't quite in her step the way it usually was. Her natural smile felt a bit heavier on the edges, though it grew dazzling every time she saw someone looking at her. So after only an hour out of the guildhall, and with having put a few more fliers up on notice boards that significantly lacked ads for her business, Ria walked back to the guildhall. Before turning down the alley to the entrance, she paused to give herself a moment to breath and collect herself before putting her usual bright smile in place.

Armful of forms and leaflets in hand, she opened the door and walked into the guildhall. Her gaze landed on one of their most senior members first. "Oh Grasidia, you're here." That was about all the consideration she gave the small hall. She closed the door and headed for the bar counter as she continued, "Do you want me to see if Zenith is in the kitchen to get you something to eat?" It wasn't so much to take up her usual spot, but because she liked to keep the registration forms handy during the day. If someone saw her flyer and wanted to enlist her services, she wanted to have them close by instead of having to head to her lodging to get them.

"Or a drink?" She didn't cast her gaze around the guildhall as she set to organizing the liquor and glasses. "Sorry if anyone was looking for me while I was out, but I'm back now." That was when she finally did glance up, to offer her guild mates a cheerful smile. Her mind was already going over other things that she could do to keep her energy level up. The liquor was organized, but perhaps the tables needed cleaning again? Or maybe she could reorganize the planters; the ones over by the eastern window had been there an awful long time and maybe could do better near the western window, and vice versa. There was always reviewing registrations for her business. Baybern and Melody made such a lovely couple, and their recommendation to a few of their friends had certainly helped.

She blinked a few times quickly to get her mind back on task. "So if there's anything I can get anyone, just let me know. 'Kay?" Her smile flared up for a second before settling into its natural chipper state.
Shit. It was the first thought to pop into Vincent's head when the girl with her back to him grumbled about following. He didn't want this to turn into a bad situation. The last thing they needed was gunfire or bodies. He wanted survivors, at least one of them wanted to be alone. That was fair enough.

He was about to respond when he heard the jingle of the bells. Cody's ears twitched against the cloth of his pants. His breathing stayed even while his pulse picked up its pace. It took a quick flick of his wrist to be holding his gun correctly again, finger on the frame but at the ready. As much as he'd hoped it wasn't that way, the facts were before them. Cody hadn't smelt the pack. It wasn't surprising, but he'd hoped that wouldn't be the case. Having his handgun ready wasn't much good if it was a bigger breed. Smaller ones, it wouldn't be too bad because they weren't exactly breed for surviving in combat. Even some of the larger ones could be stopped with a handgun, but the surest way was choice shots.

Vincent nodded when attention turned his way. "Yes, ma'am." The words came out without a second thought. It wasn't about the tone of her voice or the fact it was an order. It was just concise acknowledgement over the idea, and the politest way to acknowledge the girl. There'd be time for exchanging names after everyone was secure - if they didn't bolt as soon as they could. This wasn't exactly the ideal spot to make a stand, or the way he'd play out taking down a pack. No telling how many were out there, or what they were until they caught sight of the creatures.

A muttered phrase in German, and Cody skulked around the corner to join the girls as Vincent (trusting the situation was dire enough to not waste time killing him) turned his back on the girls to make sure he kept an eye on the door to the kitchen from the dining room. He retreated backwards with his gun aimed at the ready, just in case. He'd deal with getting Cody up if they went to the roof if they had to. For now, the freezer seemed like a great place to hole up.
