Raising her voice against the cold wind, Fernstar looked down on the small kit and flashed her a grin, hoping to quell her nervousness. Honeykit was going to make a very motivated apprentice; and her training would be watched closely. "Honeykit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your Warrior name, you will be known as Honeypaw. Your mentor will be Spidernose. I hope she will pass on all she knows about Clan life to you." Fernstar stood and beckoned with her tail for Spidernose to step forward and meet her apprentice. She knew she had chosen the right warrior to mentor Honeypaw; Spidernose was strong and wise. "Spidernose; you are a wise and confident warrior and I trust you will pass on your intelligence and warmth to your new apprentice. Please greet her and watch over her."

Fernstar jumped down from the Highstump and leaned down to place her head on top of Honeypaw's and let out a purr of pride. Although she trusted Spidernose to watch over Honeypaw, she knew she would worry while she was gone to the Moonpool. After leaving Honeypaw to her new mentor, Fernstar padded towards Redleap, Stormheart and Sunfur who were seated close together. Sitting in front of them, she wrapped her tail over her paws and said in a firm tone, "You know where to search right? Blackpelt and I will be leaving with you, after he fetches the traveling herbs. Please do not return until sunset, and I give you permission to hunt for yourselves while you are away from camp." She gave the three warriors a quick nod and turned to pad towards the medicine den. It was time for their journey to begin.

Fernstar tried to relax her muscles as she considered Spidernose's insight. Perhaps she was right. With the Clan's medicine cat and leader leaving camp and Maplestream missing, the Clan was going to need all the protection they could get. Maplestream was a valued member of the Clan yes, but she is also a very talented and strong Warrior who could for the most part look after herself. Fernstar would of course keep her eyes and ears peeled for her best friend while she journeyed to the Moonpool. "You're right Spidernose. Two warriors is enough to conduct a small search I suppose. And with myself and Blackpelt being gone, the Clan needs most of its warriors here in camp." Fernstar turned her attention to Stormheart and Sunfur who would be going to look for Maplestream. "Stormheart? Sunfur? I would like you to leave camp at dawn and travel in the same direction as Blackpelt and I as we make our way towards the rapids on the northeast side of our territory. If either of you catches her scent along the way, we will split off and Blackpelt and I will continue on our own way. Do not come back to camp until sunset; she must be found. If she has not returned by the time I am back at camp we will send another search patrol and go further into our territory; even out of it if we have to."

Out of the corner of her eye she noticed Honeykit emerging from the nursery, looking small but curious. Her fur warmed at the sight of the tiny kit she had found a few moons ago. She was so glad the half dead kit was able to find the strength to stay alive and be brought to the Clan. It was a miracle she had been alive in the first place; given the incredibly harsh leaf bare as well as being soaked to the bone. She surely should have frozen to death. But she supposed StarClan must have had a purpose for the resilient kit, Fernstar had taken her in as one of her own. I wonder if I will ever have kits of my own. . . Snapping out of her thoughts, she called out to Honeykit, her voice raising with pride and ceremony. "Honeykit! Please come sit beneath the Highstump. I believe you know what day it is." Fernstar looked on with amusement as Honeykit approached the Highstump, her tiny paws leaving scuff marks in the snow as she hurried clumsily forward.
@The Elvenqueen Yeah I was planning on posting soon. I've been having some really tough days with my bipolar lately and just haven't really been functioning all that well. I will post within the next couple days

As the patrol padded away from camp towards the DuskClan border, Riversong wondered what Cloudstep meant by "learn something about each other." Does that mean he wants to know more about me?. . . She tried to stifle a purr as she asked casually while opening her jaws to taste the air, "And what is there to know about you, Cloudstep? I would like to pick your brain." Although she didn't know very much about the quiet tom, she had been intrigued by his thoughtful nature and somehow had a feeling he was very kind. Maybe they could share a piece of prey later. In the time she had been with MistClan, Riversong hadn't had very much contact with cats from the other Clans; but she was eager and curious as usual. Even though she knew it was against the Warrior code to trespass, she couldn't help wanting to explore the caves she had heard so much about on DuskClan's territory. Exploring new territory was always able to scratch the itch of her curiosity. Maybe a night patrol would soon be necessary. . . As they neared the territory close to the border, Riversong made her way to a clump of ferns and marked it with her scent. As she padded towards a small tree a few fox lengths away, she heard the sound of pawsteps approaching and stopped facing the border. She waved her tail in Cloudspet's direction and beckoned Haileye to stand behind her. Over the top of the shallow hill, a orange and black tortoiseshell she-cat stopped and eyed the MistClan patrol warily.

Riversong lifted her tail, raised her muzzle and spoke. "Hi, I don't believe we've met. I'm Riversong, and this is Cloudstep and Haileye" she meowed as she gestured towards the others in her patrol. The small she-cat nodded at them curtly, and Riversong thought it was odd that the she-cat was out on a patrol alone. Didn't DuskClan send warriors out on patrol together? She pressed on, curiosity driving her words. "May I ask your name?" The DuskClan cat stopped in her paw tracks and flicked her tail in a combination of irritation and amusement before replying smoothly, "You MistClan cats sure are friendly. You'd think we were kits meeting at our first gathering for StarClan's sake. Petalwhisper; I'm DuskClan's deputy. And I was just returning to camp." The deputy turned tail and trotted over the hill and disappeared from view. Riversong glanced at Cloudstep, flicking her tail in amusement and letting out a chuckle. "I hope they're not all like that!

@Ambra Yeah I'm still here. I've been really stressed and desperately trying to find a job. I also have just been reading other people's posts and following the story. Was there anything important happening on the Discord?
Maplestream: WillowClan Territory

Flinching against the cold, damp wind Maplestream pushed her body as flat as she could against the layer of thin snow as the large rapid roared beneath her in the gorge only a few tail lengths away. She tried not to think about the steep, dangerous drop down into the rushing, violent rapid she knew would swallow any cat who was unfortunate enough to fall in. None of us are good enough at swimming to survive that. . . She had been trekking through WillowClan territory for most of the day and was sure she was pretty far from camp because she couldn't smell her Clanmates scents or their borders anymore.

While she had been exploring their territory, she was surprised at what she had discovered. Despite the land around the camp being easy to navigate and somewhat predictable, the territory got more complicated, random and dangerous the further she went. Fallen frozen trees, sharp rocks, and of course the freezing, rushing rapids that connected at different points among the gorges. She had to admit she had no idea where in particular she was going, nor where the Moonpool was. But when thinking about it, she supposed her goal wasn't actually to find the Moonpool itself. She just needed to know the territory well enough to be able to report back to Fernstar before she left the camp at dawn exactly what to expect outside the Clan's borders. She cared about her friend so much and would never be able to forgive herself if something happened that she could have prevented. She had been traveling in what was mostly a straight line for a while now so she finally decided to head in a different direction to gauge another part of the territory.

As she padded in a westward direction, she felt her stomach growl and realized that she hadn't eaten anything since she left camp and knew she had to stop to hunt. Opening her jaws to taste the air, she picked up the scent of mouse and quietly followed the smell until it led her to the roots of a large pine tree where the ground was sheltered from the layers of snow. As she crouched beside one of the larger roots, another smell hit her muzzle. She was sure it was another cat, but not one she recognized. It smelled foreign almost. Like whoever left it wasn't from this area. Her curiosity peaking, she began circling the tree and scenting the nearby clumps of bracken. She tilted her head in confusion as another two scents, very similar to the first but slightly unique in turn entered her jaws. Three cats? I've never seen any cat that wasn't a WillowClan warrior anywhere in this forest before. And their scents are so intermingled it's almost certain they came together. Forgetting about the mouse she was stalking, she padded slightly to the right following the scent which lead through some denser, tough grass to a damp patch of mud and dead leaves. Maplestream stopped in her tracks and looked at the ground with apprehension as she suddenly realized what she was seeing. The leaves had been trampled and the damp dirt disturbed in multiple places. Their scent trail disappeared. Whichever cats had been here knew that rolling in wet leaves and dirt would mask their scent, and they didn't want anyone knowing they were here.
