Bio

My Name is Shadow Daedalus, but I will accept pretty much any diminutive form you can come up with.

I like to RP things with fighting and grit, but chilled out RPs are good too.

I'm a little out of practice, so my writing style falls anywhere between Low-Casual and High-Casual.

Wide range of tastes, like Sci-fi, Modern, Fantasy and Historical

I don't usually play more that one character at a time, and I'm more comfortable as a male character, but I might try to expand more in the future, you'll have to wait and see...

Not very interesting, so feel free to ask me questions :D

my character is already asleep, so a timeskip works for me

As he laid back on his sleeping bag, skimming through countless weapon schematics in his eye's data library as he contemplated various potential enhancements for his original Huntsman's Weapons, Daedalus was mildly surprised but entirely grateful for the minimal reaction he had garnered. He could feel a few inquisitive gazes on him and caught an outburst of amazement from the faunus talking to Cinna and Aquarius, the man earning a brief nod of acknowledgement from the cyborg in question, but he had yet to be accosted about his blatantly in-human appendages and their abilities.

Sighing softly to himself through his nose, he put a mental bookmark into his browsings before closing his internal database and shifting his cybernetics suite into low-power mode. Externally, the lights on his arms, spine and eye dimmed out before he lowered himself into his sleeping bag and pulled it over him. His eyes slid closed as he settled into a sleeping position, his head lulling to the side and facing toward the assembled group as his breathing became softer and he gently coaxed himself to sleep.

Since returning Tori's greeting, Ryuu had been content to stand back and allow for the remainder of the group to work out the details of the planning. It wasn't his mission after all, he was only tagging along for the payment, so he was content to follow someone else's lead within reason. He stood at the edge of the group, one arm resting casually on Ryujin's sheath as he distributed more of his weight away from his still-healing wound, listening as Tori and the still unnamed woman in blue took the reins on the mission.

He started thinking over the two options presented: If they took the longer route, they would be able to better preserve their fighting strength but the situation would go unaddressed for longer, but conversely if the mission was a matter or urgency, the shorter route would afford them a faster reaction time at the cost of being worn down by potential combat enroute. He turned his head to make his thoughts known, but before he could open his mouth he was cut off by the irritable wolf faunus. He turned to the man with a sharp expression, bordering a scowl. His initial impression was that he would be an abrasive element at worst, but now he was less optimistic.

He was saved having to scold the bratty Huntsman by the woman with light blue hair, Azu. He shook his head to cool his temper, before he turned back to the two impromptu leaders, pointedly ignoring Silme.

"I'd like to preserve our strength by avoiding unnecessary combat, but if this is as time sensitive as you make it seem then it would make more sense to cut through the forest."

Daedalus was quiet for a few moments as he thought about the question, watching out of the window as Beacon Academy drew closer, but he couldn't recall many of the details. He knew roughly how it worked at Atlas Academy, but each of the kingdoms operated differently so he expected the same of its Huntsman Academies. That unfortunately meant that he was going into this blind, and a small frown made itself onto his face at the thought.

He turned back to Cinna, but before he could open his mouth to speak, the entire transport shook from the rough landing and he mentally cursed. His internal processor instantly kicked on and made several minor adjustments to the servos in his legs, compensating for the sudden shift and keeping him stable and upright. He glared slightly at the loudspeaker before addressing the girl clung onto his arm. "It's fine, don't worry about it. I'll see you around." He returned her gesture with a curt nod before heading in a slightly different direction, his hooded figure gliding through the crowd like a blade through water. Grabbing his case of luggage, he followed along with the rest of the crowd as he waited for the Headmaster's speech to begin.

As Daedalus stepped out of the changing room, he scanned the main hall as he looked for a spot to settle, narrowing his eyes at the students that decided to stare at his cybernetics. His sleeping clothes consisted of a black tank top and black pants, leaving his arms and the top of his spine exposed. He knew that he would have to let people know eventually so he'd rather have it done quickly, like ripping off an adhesive bandage. He spotted 2 familiar faces and 2 of the students that had caught his attention on the airship, namely Aqua, Cinna, the blue-themed boy and the clumsy squirrel faunus, and gravitated towards them but didn't intrude on their conversation. Instead, he drifted towards one of the walls, setting his plain black sleeping bag down and unrolling it parallel to the wall. He laid back on the material, eyes gazing aimlessly as he retreated into his mind, unsure if he should enter any of conversations around him.

Daedalus hadn't completely stopped paying attention to the happenings on the deck, vigilance being an important trait for Huntsmen, but he'd stopped listening to the various conversations around him. Without a present threat or any pressing objectives to worry about he'd let himself relax, although the only tell was a loosening of his rigid posture. His arms were still clasped behind him, but they hung at his tailbone instead of held tightly at hip-level and his body swayed a tiny amount as he shifted his weight from one foot to the other. He'd left his eyes to gaze aimlessly across the passing scenery, although they probably hadn't lost their intensity.

A voice spoke up from beside him and he flicked his eyes over towards it to see the red-headed girl from earlier. "As you wish, I don't mind." Now that he was listening to her speak, he could detect a hint of a Mistral accent. He assumed that she'd moved to Vale long enough ago that her accent had been watered down, hence why she was enrolling at Beacon as opposed to Haven Academy, but it's wasn't really his place to ask and it wouldn't benefit him to know. She spoke again, prompting him to focus on the building approaching from the distance. He wasn't excited, per say, but he had to admit that he was looking forward to his time there. He was determined to make good of the gift his adoptive mother had given him as a Huntsman, and this was the last step of that journey. She paused before giving her name, and Daedalus responded by turning his body and extending a hand. It was probably a bit formal for the setting, but he wasn't exactly comfortable in social situations. "Daedalus Atsali. You're right about Beacon, it truly lives up to the name."
@AdmrlStalfos19 I guess Daedalus counts as a Lightning user? his Icarus system uses Lighting as one of its damage types
@Agent 47 You just love the idea of Daedalus and Aeshcel on the same team, don't you?
Well, Agent already said was going to make teams of people that are opposed to each other. I'm probably going end up teamed with a clumsy person and a person that hates his cybernetics for one reason or another
Maybe... I mean there's plenty of A names so any of the team names could have Aeschel in them

For most of the journey, Daedalus had kept to himself, trying to draw as little attention to himself as possible. To hide his arms, his sleeves were rolled down and his hands covered with plain black gloves; his eyes were closed and his hood was up, covering the metallic plates welded onto his reinforced spine and obscuring the details of his cybernetic eye, making it look more like a metallic eyepatch at a glance. He recognised many of his fellow Signal graduates, a fair number of whom were already familiar with his abilities, but many of them were new faces, which usually in turn meant being subjected to a fusilade of questions he had no intention of answering. Hence why he was hiding his obviously unusual features, at least while he was forced to travel among the other new students.

At the announcement of the loudspeaker, his eyes flicked open and instantly locked with those of another student who had been staring at him for the past 3 minutes. The softly glowing lines of orange code on the black of his cybernetic iris rotated back and forth like automatic lenses as they scanned and quantified the student's data, determining him as someone of little threat. The unnatural glow and the contrast to the cool grey of his other eye was apparently enough to unsettle him as he looked away, so Daedalus took the opportunity to rise from his seat and leave the room, opting to relocate to the viewing deck.

He stood by one of the windows, arms behind him as he looked out across the open sky. Instead of standing in awe, however, his thoughts never left idle as they moved from one item to the next as resolutions were found. He posed a hypothetical scenario to himself and thought on possible approaches to resolve it, went through a diagnostics check on his internal systems and even though back on Nero and Argento, the twin gunblades he wielded before his emergency reconstruction and wondered if he should rebuild and improve them, to serve as both a set of back-up weapons and a memento of his time in Atlas. He was drawn out of his thoughts by two thuds in quick succession, of a body bouncing of glass and then the same body hitting the ground, and he turned his body at the waist to watch the fallen faunus man with a neutral gaze. He made no move to assist him, instead watching as a red-headed girl helped him up. He mentally sighed to himself, and made a note to avoid him during the entrance test. Clumsy was a bad trait for a Huntsman, and it made him a liability, so Daedalus didn't want to end up on his team.

His line of thought broken, he slowly moved his gaze across the other prospective students on the bridge. He recognised Aquarius, a fellow Signal Graduate, speaking to a blonde-haired girl a few inches taller than herself, but most of the others were unknown. Now that the clumsy faunus was finally standing, he noted that he was abnormally tall, towering over the redhead he was speaking too, but seemed to lack the muscle to match. The girl he was with also had a slim physique, so he wasn't expecting much of a brawler-type from either of them. The last person to catch his eye was the blue-haired boy in the hat, leaning against the wall somewhat impatiently. He seemed vaguely familiar, as if he'd met one of this person's relatives before, but nothing stood out to him so his mind quickly moved on. A soft digital sound came from his scroll and he rolled up his right sleeve enough to remove the device from its place on his wrist.

Asimi, ever the doting mother, had messaged him to check up on him and a small, soft smile came to his face. He let her know that he was close to arriving and that he was ok before putting the device away and covered it with his sleeve, the smile falling away into a neutral expression as he turned his head back to the view outside. Dwelling on his classmates, and potential teammates, now would do little good. Might as well as wait until the entrance exams before passing any further opinions.
