They say it's about the journey, not the destination. This is true of many things. Pizza delivery is not one of them.

TFW you know what you want to happen but the words aren't cooperating. Why is plot suddenly so much harder to write?

Glad to see I'm not the only follower of Lord Cato, god of wisdom, on this most auspicious Superb Owl Sunday.

Bio

I am an adult, though I don't usually act like it. I'm a voracious reader, and not overly picky about books. I am artistic in a variety of areas, including music, drawing, writing, and sculpting. I have a minor obsession with dragons, and love the color violet. Fantasy is my preferred genre, be it past, future, urban...as long as it has a fantasy flavor to it. I also like scifi, mystery, and some horror. I am crazy, and I like tormenting my characters. But I don't bite...much. ^.~

Amuné sighed in relief as Nymira put her knives away. "Hush, Wyth," she told the still-hissing moorcat. He quieted, but still didn't move out from between his girl and the strange woman. "We're not double-crossing you, promise!" she added, looking back at the Dimuran. "Uh, me? I'm Amuné Ris, ma'am, nice to meet you." The girl automatically fell back on the manners her parents had told her to use, not really sure how else to try to smooth things over.

She eyed the blood on the woman's clothing, but Nymira didn't seem ready to accept help, so instead the girl moved over to Ethan. "Did she get you? Are you okay?" It didn't look like the woman had, but Amuné wanted to be sure. If left untreated, wounds could go bad quickly. Her mommy had taught her that. "And...ah, what are we going to do about the bad men? Should we just leave them here? What if they follow us?" The child chewed on her lip, clearly worried.

The girl stayed near the road as Ethan made his minor detour, but rustling and the sound of metal on metal brought her running. And there was Ethan, and Nymira, and one of the bad men out cold on the ground. But the Dimura was attacking Ethan! Why would she be doing that?! They'd been sent to find her and help her, didn't she know that? "Don't hurt him!" Amuné shriek, both angry and frightened. Had Norman known this would happen when he sent them? But no, Norman wasn't a bad guy, he'd just been worried for his friend. The girl considered sending Wyth to help Ethan, but he was doing a good job of keeping himself from getting hurt already. She couldn't look away, though she didn't want to watch the fighting. It was scary.

Ethan went down, but flipped himself back up somehow, and then he was scrambling backwards, and lost his sword. Amuné bit her lip, but the man caught Nymira's wrists. Then they were apart, but Nymira turned to face the girl and Cecil, and Amuné's eyes widened. Wyth moved in front of her protectively, his fur bristling as he hissed a threat. Should the Dimuran try to hurt his girl, she would regret it!

"No, don't hurt her, Cecil! She's not an enemy. She's the one we're supposed to find!" the girl told the Machina. It would be bad if he did to Nymira what he'd done to the bad man on the bridge. The woman wanted them to leave her alone, but that wasn't a choice. "We can't!" Amuné protested. "We told Norman we'd find you for him. He's worried."

insane and /insane/ are different, @Rtron.
In Over 11 yrs ago Forum: Advanced Roleplay
@xodus Oh is THAT why they don't go crazy? See, if anyone had that kind of sanity to tap into, they could do Chrono tier stuff I bet.

Sparks: Wait you mean Julie's using /our/ sanity to cast her temper-tantrums? Not cool, dude!

Additionally, withdrawal might be tough, but I'd think it's /possible/. or we need details for people that don't use alchemy often, because I think Bits will go long periods without using hers. Potentially on the scale of years.

But it sounds like the Code is just the links -- so thoughts, not actual information. Unless it's augmented by computers somewhere.

The trio hurried to the edge of town, following the sparse trail of blood. But when they reached the last of the buildings, there was no one in sight. Amuné lifted her hand to shade her eyes against the sun, squinting, but she didn't see anyone. Ethan suggested separating so they could search more efficiently, but immediately vetoed his own idea. The girl was glad; she really didn't want to split up. But then how to find where Nymira had gone?

Cecil was growing panicked, worrying that he'd need to give back his battery, or be salvaged for parts. Amuné hesitated a moment, but moved close to the Machina and patted his arm reassuringly. "We won't let that happen," she declared, putting as much certainty into her voice as she could. "You're keeping that battery, and nobody's going to take you apart." Just like they were going to help Nymira -- if they could find her.

She looked around again, thinking. The land was pretty flat, so they'd surely see the bad men and the woman they held captive if they were in the open. Even horses wouldn't be able to go far enough to be beyond sight that fast. That meant they were either behind a building, or in the trees. "If we can't see them, they probably went that way," Amuné said aloud, pointing at the stand of trees. "Wyth, far! Search!" The moorcat fixed his girl with a stubborn glare. No way was he leaving her alone when there might be dangerous people!

@xodus I still would think if you didn't use alchemy, you won't go insane, even if you have the ability.

And I wanna know what happens if there's not enough Chronos, or too many. I mean, they have to do something with the people with that ability even if there's not enough slots.

The child gave a silent sigh of relief when Ethan didn't think to question why she was so sure. She watched as he listened at the door, but there was no one inside. The place was rather messy. Maybe there'd been a fight? Amuné wouldn't have been surprised; the Dimuran woman seemed like she'd fight if she could. As Ethan headed for the basement stairs, she gave Wyth a soft command. "Defend, Wyth."

The moorcat went to join the man, his senses alert. He smelled blood, and that meant someone or something was hurt. He didn't want whatever had hurt them to get to his girl, or her friends. But it was empty, and now the other two joined them downstairs. Wyth followed the scent of blood, and it seemed the man had the same idea. But it was just blood. Whoever had spilled it was gone. Losing interest, the moorcat returned to his girl.

Amuné's eyes were wide at the sight. This was the right place, but where was Nymira? Had the bad men taken her somewhere else? Could she See if they had? She darted a glance at her two companions, but Cecil had a better idea. They could follow a trail if the woman was bleeding, perhaps. And Ethan seemed to have an idea of which way they'd gone -- it would be funny, considering how he never knew which way to go, but not in these circumstances. "I think you both have good ideas. So heading out of town, and seeing if there's a trail. Come on, there's no time to lose!" If the people taking Nymira had horses, they'd never catch them once they got on the roads. She hurried up the stairs and back outside, looking around for any trace of blood that might indicate which way their quarry had gone, sending up a prayer to Saint Edos that Nymira was still alive when they got there.

Why are Viles so strong? Is there a reason, or just to make them hard to kill?

@Grif of Hearts Bits doesn't go up close and personal because she tries to avoid using alchemy and you kinda need it if you're up close against an alchemist...but she's very good at unarmed CQC. Weapons are tools, just like everything else.

ACTUALLY! I think maybe anti-alchemy grenades are in her future, because if nobody can use alchemy, those best at pure fighting would have an advantage.
