They say it's about the journey, not the destination. This is true of many things. Pizza delivery is not one of them.

TFW you know what you want to happen but the words aren't cooperating. Why is plot suddenly so much harder to write?

Glad to see I'm not the only follower of Lord Cato, god of wisdom, on this most auspicious Superb Owl Sunday.

Bio

I am an adult, though I don't usually act like it. I'm a voracious reader, and not overly picky about books. I am artistic in a variety of areas, including music, drawing, writing, and sculpting. I have a minor obsession with dragons, and love the color violet. Fantasy is my preferred genre, be it past, future, urban...as long as it has a fantasy flavor to it. I also like scifi, mystery, and some horror. I am crazy, and I like tormenting my characters. But I don't bite...much. ^.~

@MintRolls So Hestia is *more* likely to choose a lady, but...I can see her choosing a man if he's the nurturing type. I was thinking of playing a young doctor or someone still in med school to be a doctor. Does this sound reasonable?
@MintRolls I am interested. Debating between Hades, Persephone, or Hestia.

I do have a few questions. Firstly, do you have an age range in mind for characters? Secondly, where are we starting? Like, in terms of the world? Because if one person is in London and another in Hawaii, it's going to take a while to meet up. Thirdly, do you have an idea of how fast this rp will move?

@Azure Bubbles *waves* hey there~
Rhylaen

The harshness of some of Lorenzo's assessments made Rhylaen wince internally, but he had good points. She was surprised to recieve light praise for her actions in the fight. She should have been watching the skies, should reacted to Atty and Serah much faster. Yes it was a worthwhile trade in a mock skirmish between teams, but in an actual battle she would be dead, and that was no good. She clapped when some of the others did as well at the announcement of the squad leaders. Ava and Asolfo. She didn't know either of them well yet, She'd have to remedy that sooner rather than later.

Arrish's laughter threw her. Was something funny? No, no one else was laughing.... She was distracted almost immediately from that thought by the offer of a steak dinner. Steak was absolutely delicious, and not something the cafeteria served, most likely. Certainly they hadn't yet. "Steak? Yes! I come," she declared.

Sparks

Sparks' cheeks burned. Lorenzo's words cut deep. He wasn't a coward...was he? Yes, naturally cautious -- looking and waiting for good openings. What good would it do his team if he was eliminated? He wasn't a scout -- he was a support unit, armed with long range drones but only a single actual weapon. And technically his drones were for repair, not offense, most of the time. At least he had the sense to take the criticism quietly, unlike some of the others. Griff calling him a coward too hurt less -- the man didn't like him -- but it still stung.

He waited for an opening, listening to the various responses. When he found one, Sparks addressed Lorenzo. "May I have permission to work on the various Framewerks -- with the assent of their pilots, of course? I can think of a few improvements that could be made to various systems, and I'm sure more will reveal themselves over time."
Sparks

"I have that cloaking field precisely because I wouldn't survive such a volley," Sparks told Aurora with a smile. "It was a close fight. I was out of drones at the end." As for the pink frame, Bug suggested that Arrish was responsible, but not the one who'd done the actual programming, which Arrish didn't deny. Hm. A little disappointing. And it sounded like there was more to it that a prank. Interesting. The mention of the pictures had Sparks grinning all over again. Bug and Arrish seemed to be good sports -- unlike Zel-Ghin, who appeared to be sulking. Sparks could hardly miss the sound of a full water bottle hitting the floor after he'd batted it away. Unfortunate. Well, it took all types. "That was some creative use of fallen frames, Bug," he added. "Not to mention the idea of using other frames as relays for my drones. I wonder if anyone else would be willing to allow that...I'll have to ask around later. For now, we should probably head to the briefing room."
Rhylaen

Griff was very awkward about accepting Rhylaen's thanks, but she supposed that was in keeping with his general attitude towards her. She then turned her attention back to the fight. She couldn't understand why Mema-Ka had abandoned his frame. He hadn't been in a desperate situation, and leaving the cockpit was almost a certain death sentence when fighting other Framewerks. To her immense disappointment, the fight between Ava and Arrish resulted in a crippled Horst, and then the sneaky Sparks was able to finish Arrish off. Curses! That meant a win for Team Mango. Still, it had been close, at least. Sparks was the only survivor of his team. That had to count for something, Rhylaen thought. It was a shame that Elora had run into trouble so early on. That had spread Team Apple out, and the situation had only gotten worse from there. But that was the point of training -- to learn.

Sparks

Sparks took a moment to just sit in the VR pod before trying to get up. He'd succeeded in defeating the Horst and Arrish, he was pretty sure, and had taken only a grazing Maser shot himself, but that didn't mean it was easy to switch modes. "Dancer, you still good?" A chime from his suit's comm system confirmed that the AI was still with him. "Excellent." Sparks climbed out of the pod and got to his feet, surveying the room. "What I really want to know," he said to himself, "is who turned the Cockroach pink. It had to be one of Team Apple." His gaze flicked over the Tevranian, Rhylaen. A possibility, but unlikely. The same went for Elora. Griff? Definitely not. Aurora...had the skill, but would she have the desire? He didn't think so. Mema-Ka was a bit of a mystery. Sparks hadn't gotten a good feel for the young man yet. Arrish, though. Sparks recalled the response image the man had sent of himself and Bug with a smirk. He definitely had the personality for it. But did he have the skill? Only one way to find out.

Sparks made his way over to where Arrish and Aurora were talking. He waited for a pause, then offered a handshake to each. "Well fought," he said. Then his attention focused on Arrish. "I have to know, though. Are you the one responsible for turning Bug's frame pink?"
Leilani Suldevi

A lot had happened over the course of a few short minutes, but it seemed things were more or less resolved. With the arrival of Headmaster Arteus and his second, the witch Brunhyldia, things settled down further. Leia listened carefully to their instructions, and when the new recruits were given leave to do as they wished, she made her way over to the request board. The matter of the lost children immediately drew her eye -- as did the gnome Rem and her various golems. It seemed Rem was also interested in the second request.

Leia trailed after the assistant librarian when she went to speak with Brunhyldia. "I too would like to look into this matter -- although I would appreciate it, Rem, if you'd give me maybe half an hour to put my things in a room and put on my armor. I wouldn't want to be caught unprepared, after all, on the off chance something does attack us while we're down there."

With confirmation from the gnome obtained, Leia asked one of the staff members for directions to the part of the tower that held lodgings for the residents. She didn't bother unpacking most of her things once she'd found a room, but she did put on her leather and plate armor and grab her shotgun, which she sling over her shoulder. As promised, in half an hour she was ready to go, and returned to the entry hall.
Sparks

Sparks took a deep breath. Mema-Ka was dealt with, but it looked like Ava had left him Arrish and Horst. A transmission from Arrish confirmed his suspicions. And he was pretty sure Horst had spotted him while he was killing Mema-ka. He keyed open the comms channel. "Honestly, I'd offer you a cease fire, but...I doubt Lorenzo will accept that." Making sure his cloaking field was intact, Sparks then circled around, using buildings and fallen frames as cover, until he had a good angle on the Horst that didn't involve staring down the barrel of the Horst's gun. "Check my aim, Dancer," he muttered, as he unleashed the Arklight Thunder on his target.
Sparks

Sparks blew a breath out through his mouth as his final drone went offline. He was down to just the Arklight Thunder. Still, Arrish had shown impressive resolve and creativity. He couldn't fault the man for that. He might have gone after the Horst again, but his sensors picked up Mema-Ka coming at him in the air, over the top of the building he had the Guinevere behind. Surprising that he'd been seen -- but he had just attacked with a drone, so he supposed his cloaking field must have flickered. "Dancer, keep that hatch locked. I don't want him getting in, even if I disconnect. Got it?"

"Affirmative."

The young man was armed only with a Maser and jet boots, so Sparks wasn't too worried, but it didn't hurt to be certain. "Sorry man, this is gonna hurt...." He muttered under his breath as he activated the Arklight Thunder's Tesla field, before Mema-ka could grab onto his frame. If the rocket boots deactivated and Mema-ka fell, Sparks would follow up by stepping on him.
Rhylaen

Rhylaen wasn't sure about the way Griff talked to her, but at least he seemed to be trying to be nice. She could accept that. She also accepted Stella's headpat, though she really didn't like being treated like a child.

And then Stella tried to put Griff in the corner. Rhylaen folded the blanket she'd been draped in under one arm -- it was already plenty warm in the room, after all -- and approached the "naughty" pair. "Griff. ...Thank you." She hadn't expected him to try to protect her when Serah and Atty attaacked. Maybe from another member of the team it wouldn't have been so strange, but it seemed like Griff was making a genuine effort, and she appreciated that, even if he went about it in an awkward fashion.
My group was playing Pathfinder's Ironfang Invasion. We were going to fight the blighted Fey Queen....Instead, we *blew her up* with a bunch of gunpowder barrels. It was great.
