As someone who once unironically used grey-on-black text .... don't. Its impossible to read on OLED screens, which include most modern phones.

Sometimes I feel like this site is a Thai buffet. I'm sure there's delicious things here, but for the life of my I can't find anything that really speaks to me right now.

When not prepping for my D&D table, I should spruce up some of my stuff here. Not all of my old content is the garbage I presumed it was. But some things I wrote we won't talk about ....

Reflections on characters past: "Adi really was a spoiled brat. How did I ever think her motivations were compelling?"

Just putting this out there so I'm not spammed with tags later. I do not intend to participate further at this point. I have too many concerns to be comfortable doing as much lore work as I previously intended.
@DeadDrop We're exploring the theories and complexities of running an RP in an unprecedented fashion. If you have nothing to add to that discussion, I respectfully ask you say nothing. I would remind you to check the section this is in and be aware of the standards of writing that are expected here.
@The Harbinger of Ferocity There is no set of rules & guidelines sufficiently exhaustive to entirely eliminate the need for administrative decision-making. No matter what you do, it will be tested. I would be interested in seeing that problem solved, as I don't particularly see a democratic process as being able to replace that.

To once again bring my skepticism back into play I have the legitimate concern that an attempt to solve the 'GMless' concept will weigh down what is an otherwise fascinating cyberpunk world in red tape. Throw up too many rules/regs/restrictions and it will take a toll on interest. I also think a lot of people are comforted by having a GM as an end-all/be-all authority on lore details and such (which isn't strictly present here).

For brevity's sake I'll avoid commenting on the trust issue beyond saying I fully disagree.
@BrokenPromise That's actually a really interesting take because it's a potential solution to a problem I'll inevitably run into with Tear the World Down. There's a character duality, a physical character and a guiding spirit, and per the lore there's 12 of these guiding spirits. That's pretty much written in blood & stone and cannot be changed. The problem I'm in is what happens when a character who's already been written into the story a substantial degree has to drop? (or in a real case I'm having to deal with, ejected for inactivity.) Per the lore, the character can die and the spirit has to select another chosen to place in their tutelage.

I've so far felt like forcing join-in-progress players to choose from a prefab list of spirits they didn't write (previously an important element of character creation) plus all the history of that spirit in the RP thusfar would be too off-putting to potential players and severely hurt my ability to get new blood in to replace old. I kind of want to adopt this now reading your thoughts but at the same time I'm concerned about that possible outcome. The last thing I want to do is suffocate my RP slowly by making such an experimental & unconventional move.
if they even got to know of it in the first place instead of those toiling under them in the pyramid just handling it as it came up.

Oh of course it doesn't make it more than halfway up the ladder. :P Some subsidiary-of-a-subsidiary med-tech firm has some labs getting razed by gang members and a mid-level manager wants to keep his job, so some files get sent down the ladder until they eventually end up at a buried "security consulting" firm where we finally get away from talking heads and get some real people to go fire some real bullets and make real problems become imaginary. That's how corpsec works. Nobody making more than a quarter mil a year even knows when that shit is happening.
I have to completely rewrite the sheet now. Not working with framework lore so I have to change out a lot of references. It does mean I get to instance Panopticon and its massive web of subsidiaries, but that also entails a lot of development work.
SSL cert expired. AFAIK Mahz is already aware of this. Should be fixed promptly.

From a technical perspective, an expired cert makes it possible for a phishing attack to be completely undetected if you choose to visit the site anyway ... but I would question why anyone would be trying to steal your login credentials for a roleplaying forum.

EDIT: Looks like the cert was fixed already. That was excellently timely.
The Corporate Agenda calls for the intervention of a few troubleshooters

You rang?
@Zelosse Wait when did you get the fancy GM tag?
I don't follow with the whole "the GM can't be a player" notion. I've never imagined that to be an issue if the GM wants to play as well, provided they can keep up the work of GM and player and don't engage in the usual undesired behaviors (metagaming, powerplaying, etc.). It may not be the same as being solely a player, but I've yet to have any issues with it.

That aside, you had my attention at "Cyberpunk" regardless of how much skepticism you may or may not have attracted. To that end I'll be watching. Further involvement is TBD, probably pending some reorganization of my current RP portfolio.
