Wow, Zork? That's a title I haven't heard in a while. Interested to see how that would translate onto group forum format.

Can we still give state the direction we want to go by typing a single letter? N S E W
@Lexicon
You have quite effectively described how I spent many weekends a ways back, before the horrors of responsibility caught up with me. Bravo.
"DAMNIT..." growled Keystone, finally understanding the particulars of his situation. Against his nature, the best way to help prevent the loss of life and get any answers at all was to run. Fast and far, until lasting respite could be found. His presence hurt those who could defend themselves. With regret, he heeded the Captain's advice.

Aboard the carriage, he looked to his companion so far in this two-day tragedy, "You don't like to run; I don't like to either. Today we run. If I hang about, Dark & Ugly'll get even stronger. Their best chance to live involves me sodding off until I find out what's in my head and how I can help it."

He paused for a moment, and continued, "I understand, Sir Knight, if'n you and I part ways now. But I can't fight it as I am, and I need answers. Too many people've snuffed it already."

As soon as distance was put between himself and the fighting, Keystone tried to reestablish the mental rapport with his new friend.
Keystone stopped to take a breath behind the phalanx of guardsmen. Ordinarily this was not his way, taking refuge behind others in times of crisis, but he was under the distinct impression that we was being singled out for something more important than challenging the living dead to a fistfight.

While he had some experience dealing with intercranial visitors, this particular room in the Chateau Keystone having been fairly recently vacated, this presence seemed different from the last one. Possibly more benign, but this remained to be verified. Remembering his preferred method of communication when surrounded by injured, scared, and possibly paranoid survivors of an undead assault, Keystone concentrated on articulating words and feelings internally.

"Ok, we have a moment. If you can hear this, who are you, what the bloody hell is going on here, and why did you choose my noggin to declare Sanctuary? I need to know why it's so damnedably important, or I'm charging right back in there to give those guards a hand."
The last tenant to rent a room in his head didn't quite hijack. It wouldn't shut up a lot of the time, mostly whispering at him to do things or offering its opinion, wanted or no. One time it did make him sleepwalk, though. Eventually, he was able to put up a privacy screen of sorts between it and himself, but that's a different animal, I'm guessing.

Asking! Of course, makes perfect sense. The Captain has a few seconds at least, guess now's as good a time as any.
Couple of questions:

Interested in helping the Captain not die. More specifically, this isn't the kind of guy that likes others to fight instead of him. With, sure. Not so much for. That would put us in a situation similar to earlier, however. That in mind, if it comes down to it, how far away are we from Cap?

The voice in his head - this particular character just came out of a game where a spirit attached itself to him. He's becoming quite the spiritual medium, it seems. He could communicate with it by speaking out loud or by articulating the words in his head. It gave him a kind of crazy vibe to the rest of his group at first, but he learned to deal with it effectively until the spirit's business was through and it went on. Nonetheless, is this a similar situation, as far as Keystone can tell? He has some questions for his new involuntary best friend.

@Joegreenbeen
It looks like I may have to restart, actually. The other three members have disappeared on me. Very sad, I had high hopes for this RP setting and the characters involved.

@DMZ
Will do. Best of luck doing whatever it is that prevents 'net service. Sounds positively horrifying.

Unless it involves bacon. Exceptions can be made for bacon.
@DMZ
Edit done, tone changed somewhat, Paladin doing Paladin things.

Personally, I've always pictured Turning Undead looking something like this:

Too bad we can't have a Half-Orc Stare...

Ah. I intuited from the description that the wards were weakened, but still somewhat intact except for where the horde broke through where it was already weakened (i.e. where we entered or where it was tested earlier), and where the big guy walked right through. With that in mind, the hole in the ward where we entered had undead actively spilling through it. With that mindset, the quickest way out would have been behind Mr. Happy and his Pulsing Sword of Impending Dismemberment.

To be quite honest, I read the description to say that the wards were in process of coming down, and where they were fully down it would be a hard fight to get through, possibly slowing us enough as to allow for our impending evisceration by the above mentioned Mr. Happy.

I am somewhat relieved to get the news that I misinterpreted the description of the wards. I still plan to try and snag the sword in the earth, but prefer now to make Plan B (going out the way we came in, where I am certain the ward is down) the new Plan A. It occurs with the Bracers active, even a little remaining ward is going to smart. The assumption based upon description here that we would be taking electrical damage from ward.
