SilverRain reportin' for duty! I hope this RP has space for me - I'll be taking up Yylya, from Infamous' repertoire of characters.
Next goal: Kita zoomies (as a cat).
Another of the Overlord's rules implemented:

If I must have computer systems with publically available terminals, the maps they display of my complex will have a room clearly marked as the Main Control Room. That room will be the Execution Chamber. The actual main control room will be marked as Sewage Overflow Containment.

After a long yawn, Kita stretched herself out. It was only a short nap, but it felt like she had been asleep for days! Kita rolled up her plans and headed out the door. She navigated the hallways by memory as everything was deliberarely mislabelled to mislead the heroes. She soon came upon the smelter where the metal from the heroe's armour had been melted. However, there were some that still held a bit of shape.

"So what should I do with them now?" said Kita to herself. She had to think of some ideas before going to D'ren. "We can turn them into commemorative coins, but what if the heroes get a hold of them and try to piece them back together?"

A smirk came across Kita's face. "Oh I know" she started with a more evil tone. "Why don't we just curse the molten metal? The heroes will then unwittingly come in contact with it, thus ending their life!" said the catgirl with triumph.

"Except that if they break the curse, that hero stink is still there" said Kita, thinking a bit ahead. Except that more than once has she gotten herself into a knot because of overthinking?

"Vaporise it then" replied Kita.

"No. It takes too much energy. And since, didn't the D'ren have a collection of weapons somewhere? Maybe I should ask him what to do"

"What? Without any ideas of your own? You have a brain, right?"

"Stop tormenting me and making my life hard!"

"Okay, okay. That's it. Either we curse the metal, vaporise it..."

"Or turn into sand and scatter it into the sea!"

"...Purrfect!"

And with that, Kita beamed happily and checked to see if they could repurpose the massive meat grinder into a metal grinder. Hmm... if Kait was here, she would be so good at this. The two catgirls were from the same litter, each with their own winning points. But try as she might, the grinder didn't produce anything as fine as metal dust. Did this castle have anything that could do that?

Kita felt that she should see if the engineering department could do anything in regards to this. But first, it would be best to run it by the Evil Overlord. Kita went along the hallways, her kitty ears listening for the Overlord's voice. She heard it in the distance and poked her head out around the corner before joining the Evil Overlord.

"D'ren, the batch of heroes have been processed and pulped. The numbers are as usual, however, there seems to be armour that did not fully melt in the smelter. Would it be a risk if we just chop the armour into bits? I'm concerned the heroes might be able to collect and piece it back together again, being the avid collectors they frequently are. Should we grind the armour into metal dust and scatter it into the sea?"

I flipped the Guild over to a new server just now.

Lemme know if you notice a difference in either direction.

It seems faster - especially the PMs page. Also yay for getting notifications for subscription updates! :D

Is that... ants? *sprays*

Update: Nerfed ghost-mode

Ghost-mode no longer displays "Invisible".

Instead, it simply says if you've been on within the past 12 hours.

If it's been more than 12 hours since you were last online, then ghost-mode doesn't apply anymore and the forum shows an accurate timestamp.

Also, the friends list now correctly checks if your friend has ghost-mode enabled.

Yay, Ghost Mode! Thanks Mahz! :D
I like the idea of the points system @SilverRain had, but bribing people to help almost feels shallow.

Oh, I meant the points system would be applied to everyone, including newbies. It's just an incentive for them to become more active before the excitement dissipates. :)

The grandmaster knights were also often respected members of the community and generally pretty nice people (until I became grandmaster knight, ofc). It gave me a pretty good reason to be active there, because I looked up to these guys and wanted a nice looking lance to go under my name.

Thanks - it's titles like Grandmaster Knight which makes me want to become more of a member. The time spent online as a measure sounds good too.
How about a 'Newbie RP' area? Brainstorming here, so this needs to be tweaked. Essentially, a free for all, do whatever you want forum stickied/tacked onto the Introductions forum. It's aim is to bring out the RPer in newbies and get that engine running. Everyone here has very few posts - it's to make them comfortable and not be daunted by those with 1000+ posters. Easy-to-join threads for Free/Light, Casual/Medium-length and Advanced/Long-length. Eventually, those who have gotten themselves comfortable can start to check our real RP forums. Caveat: we might get a huge clump of newbies becoming oldbies staying in the new section. It could be a very general thread idea like "You come to a door, what do you do?". I have no idea how to handle the diversion of plots within however, so build upon this or take it apart. :)

A tangent that might also help in the onboarding:

On an old forum I visited, I was very motivated by the leveling system they had. 10 points = Soldier, 50 points = General and so on. I was no longer the newbie with 5 posts. I was someone reaching the Soldier rank. So I talked and participated more. It helped develop my forum's persona instead of letting me waste away in silence. The cherry on top was that our ranks were colour coded and had picture associated with it - like those strips you see on the Navy's shoulders. The visual picture element meant that we could instantly see each other's ranks. It was a fun rank - nothing competitive.

Other smaller ideas was a points system where you could use your post count to buy armor. It was just text. E.g. Under my name, I had the equipment of kitty ears for 20 points and evening gown for 50 points. It was more boring, but some of us like the cosplay element.
