Ravi assessed the unfolding situation, laying low and still as tension tingled from tongue to tail. “Okay, only one's coming. And it's getting closer. What should I do? What should I say? If we can get that bird off our backs and flee, that would be the least risky to our team's safety...I think...”
While primarily focusing on the skies at the edge of the entrance, he was still listening to his surroundings. Everyone else seemed prepared for the initial fight, but the rest remained ambiguous between what each member considered moral and safe. Realizing that Celina had charged in to save the other pokemon. It was alive, but helpless by itself. Should they willfully let it perish? Would that be something he could stomach? Speaking up in calculated tone to clarify that this needed to be a unified decision. “When it nears the ground, I should be fast enough to attack first. I’ll wrap around its body and make it unable to escape. Then you all can follow up with attacks wherever its exposed. But we need to unanimously decide if we’re going to try to help defeat the other hostiles. It will be our best chance if we swarm them now. But if even one of us stays behind, we’ll all be in grave danger.”
It was a definite risk either way and he didn’t possess the coldness, nor courage to sway his members one way or another. Believing whatever choice they made would be correct and executed by Ravi without hesitation.
Well crossed fingers that dice rolls and statistics won't play a part in this. Since we aren't aware how acutely aware they are of their surroundings yet. All of them could have been solely focused on attacking that one bird. So if the sing does fail, maybe that also spares them from noticing another target to rush. Since Sing is normally a 50/50 ordeal (55% in games to be specific) and if it is distributed individually, means some may fall asleep and others might immediately now know something is up and start trying to locate and frenzy attack the source. (Though they're huddled up together so maybe 'luck' could consider that as a group...)
I'd say it was a good action in IC. As it makes sense for a moral character to try to stop another innocent being from getting hurt. But in OC, it feels like a Leeroy Jenkins moment where a character aggro's an aggressive party of monsters when the rest of the party isn't prepared for it. :P

Since they all needed to prepare for high stake situations, he put his thoughts on the backburner to let them simmer. They’ve been vulnerable to attack once already and it was fortunate enough for them that it was only a single foe. But what if that was just the beginning? Ravi turned his head around towards the others as Jeri exclaimed they worked together, showing off his sly grin and speaking the same energetic tone. His inadvertently sinister vibes slipped in with his excitement. “Yesss! Nobody needs to fight alone and sssuccumb to an early demise.”
Seemingly not to be undone in awkwardness, Ravi watched Trevor eating charred sticks from the smoldering remains of the fire. Ravi shook his head a bit in disapproval. Disregarding what that might do to their digestive system, it didn’t seem to lead to an effective result. Having a grasp of what he wanted to do, he slithered over and offered up a friendly suggestion. “If you’re trying to breathe fire, maybe you just need to trick yourself in feeling a sense of danger. If pokemon are anything like humans and animals, our survival instincts could potentially make us more proficient. Of course, that’sss simple ssspeculation.” As Ravi circled Trevor, but he kept out of his personal space, albeit just barely. ”Might I recommend that we train through mock battles between usss? It would be the safest and most effective method. We could even have others observing to step in if it goes too far.”
But tensions put his advice on hold once others started expressing their concerns of what had been going on outside. Something up in the sky? Ravi quickly went toward the entrance and peered up through the rain. He wasn’t even able to see the other pokemon being swarmed by a murder of crows. But they still appeared hostile as Ravi frowned and only grew more nervous at the sight of Celina flying towards them. Unconsciously calling out for her. “Come back! There’s too many of them!”
There was too many elements that could go wrong. They didn’t know the strength or level differences between them. The wind would be louder the higher she climbed and strong enough that it could impede her ability to retreat. Not knowing her moveset or what she intended to do, but he figured it had to be something other than merely fighting. Regardless of what she intended to do, it was not an ideal situation to charge in alone. If they faced them at ground level inside the cave, they’d have better numbers and odds to fight them off. Now it seemed less likely that she’d be able to rush back in, so the group could lay low and stay hidden until they left.
@Evanist I'll let him further clarify if he wants to touch on anything specific. But he mentioned that after our sleep, we're now lvl 5. But we didn't auto-learn the moves, we're just most inclined to want to use them. So your character could probably learn astonish and sing, you'd probably just need to be situations were you might use them.

Ravi’s body squirmed like a sugar rush. But he’d argue that he was merely high on life! That thought followed an internal pity laugh to sympathize with his own pun. Intensely gazing and grinning while frenetically swaying like he was fascinated by the flickering flame. Maybe it was odd, but nothing felt out of the ordinary for him any longer. Likely sharing similar feelings of how strange their behavior was, assuming it was due to having slept unlike the rest. Though his mind still needed the snooze button for another minute — and the next minute after that. He couldn’t fathom shutting down when he just wanted to dance to the rhythm of the storm.
Unaware that his heightened instincts were as pervasive as the falling rain, as he was unconsciously soaking up all this information that weighed on his psyche. How the hell was he getting back? How the hell was he going to survive? How the hell could such small things measure up to such an enormous-feeling world? These questions would drown him far faster than a flooded cave. This life was like a game and he needed to learn the basics in order to play. Oblivious to the reason why he was struggling to suggest a simple theory. In reality, he was mentally exhausted from leaving nothing to random chance. From his previous desire to wrap around the tree, to his bizarre movement now, he was practicing the moves that he wasn’t even aware of. Fortunately his swagger had no intended target, so nobody began smashing their heads into the cavern walls. Instead training himself to be unafraid of the ongoing weather, since a single cold drop had previously sent literal and figurative shivers down his spine. Wait, do snakes have — nevermind.
So despite the deafening sounds that surrounded them, Ravi was all...ears? Anticipating a shining proposal that became a seemingly unanimous agreement for lights out. Responding with a stunned expression and an awkward silence as he watched and processed everyone else getting comfortable, before his mind contorted to reach a pleasant realization. “Oh...more sleep is good too! Yep, that’s probably a good idea!” Smiling again as he prepared a dirt bed and closed his eyes. And now was when his mind decided he’d have plenty of thoughts to spare and he’d dwell on them for the rest of the night. “The early bird catches the worm! I just hope I can catch the bird...not that I’d eat the bird. Not saying that they don’t taste good...would saying someone tastes good be a compliment or creepy?” Thankfully still able to get some sleep as his slumber was abruptly interrupted by Vi’s growl. Not reacting spooked, just lazily opening his eyes and wiggling his tongue out. Immediately igniting his curiously as he confirmed with his tongue touching his teeth that they’d grown into an overbite. Had he undergone a growth spurt? Carefully inspecting himself before looking over at his team members that were already awake, or were likely to be woken in the same way he’d been. It seemed they’d all grown from yesterday, which made him happy, since that only made them more capable.
Ravi slithered up to the others peering at the edge of the cave to notice the ‘lake’. He uttered aloud, speaking to nobody in particular. “Hmm...it’s likely the rain will outlast the fire at this rate. Not that that’s such a bad thing.” Such an obvious lie probably didn’t do anyone favors, but he kept on smiling. Using a jubilant energy in his voice when seeing Celina flutter up to fly outside. “Good luck Celina! Be safe! Don’t fly too low and get snatched up!”
In hindsight, she probably could’ve done without the latter sentence. But he couldn’t help imagining a snake pokemon like him leaping into the air for a feathered snack to tickle the taste buds. No, he wasn’t thinking about eating a team member or even another pokemon. That idea made him nauseous. Maybe just a little nibble...not like that! More like a teething puppy desperate for something to chew on, just to rid himself of the urging sensation to bite. Doing his best to keep himself restrained from doing anything else to disturb anyone further. He’d apologize when the Swablu returned for being insensitive.
Trevor may learn Ember before he learns smokescreen for example. It’s all about what you put time into.
In an attempt to theorize and rationalize that idea, I just want to run some logic through that. The reason Charmander normally learns Smokescreen first, is because as the saying goes "Where there's smoke..." So if we were to learn by doing, I'd imagine a Charmander would try to meditate build up heat in his mouth and spew it out. Maybe by getting angry or passionate in some way. But you'd be likely to get smoke to come out, before fire...
There's plenty of other circumstances and moves I could see this apply to without that same kind of question being raised. I was just curious if just training for specific moves was the main barrier to learning them. Like, on that same note, is it possible Trevor's character who knows more about the game than the other characters might be able to game the system in a way, because he would realistically have more idea on what moves he might be able to learn. So in his specific case, maybe he very well could learn ember before smokescreen because of his more intimate knowledge of the pokemon world?
So hopefully you understand I'm not trying to be purposely meta or anything. Just trying to have a better understanding of how that might work.
Another question is in the game, we'd normally level up through attacking any wild pokemon we'd see, though obviously in this circumstance it would probably make enemies for that character quickly. Some moves seem straight forward to practice, like biting or scratching. But how about certain moves that would likely require others, or something else to practice on? Like thief, or seismic toss. Or status ones that are meant to effect the other user like Swagger or Charm? Would we simply learn by doing? Or would it actually need to be done to others, so we'd be able understand how to use said move more effectively? (Since we'd actually see the intended effects.)
