My Very Brief Bio

Male, 33 years old. (I'm even more dead than before.)

Likes (other than writing and roleplaying): I'm into all genres of music. I love to cook. I love the outdoors, and walking through the park near my house. (Yes, really.) I read a lot of thriller/mystery novels. And I usually watch seasonal anime. (Or cooking shows. Because Western Media provides even fewer things that are worth watching.)

But as for my many other neglected hobbies, I've played basically every sport. (Soccer and Bowling being my favorite of the bunch.) And I'm trying to play more video games. (Going through my never-ending Steam library.) Plus, I've dabbled in making electronic & metal music, and I used to play a number of instruments. (Guitar, French Horn, etc.)

My 1X1 Interest Check: SleepingSilence's Tavern (Want 1x1 RP's? Please come in.)

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Beyond a doubt, having been in forum roleplaying. The medium has slowed down increasingly. While I too agree with the sentiment it will never truly die, it will likely never be as populous and widespread as it once was or even nearly as intense as it had been. It is more than just say, the issues of community or other, and rather it is just an overall trend. People have become more flighty, less committed, less active, and that is not just here in the medium but as a whole.

It is my expectation it will slow more and more, becoming increasingly a bygone relic, and that interest will only continue to expand elsewhere especially with Discord.

Horse. Shit.

People aren't RPing any less than before, they're just doing it in other places and in other ways.

Perhaps, I'm mistaken. But from the looks of it, neither of you actually disagree. The topic at hand was about forum roleplaying specifically. So when someone says "as a whole", they're more than likely describing 'the forum medium as a whole' versus one particular site. Otherwise, I don't know why "and the interest will expand/grow elsewhere" would be included. If it was meant to be a universal sentiment on the decline of roleplaying.
Knowing most will likely feign to disagree. I'll give you an honest answer, so you don't feel crazy.

Yes, yes it has. The site has most certainly dwindled from years prior due to an incredibly toxic group of individuals that were left completely unchecked and unstopped until most the players I RP'd with stopped entirely.

But recently? Eh, group roleplays from my knowledge have been pretty limited to certain circles and ongoing affair for a while now on this site. (For instance, well over half of the current front pages of casual and advanced have RP's at least several months old.)

And 1x1's, which I'm sure differ for everybody, have been a little shakier in terms of people ghosting this year for me. Just compared to the last one. But perhaps you could chalk it up to the year being a bit depressing.

(But I don't know if the discord's moderation has improved. Nor do I remember how many members were on previous years compared to this one. But the '100' I see on average, does sound a bit low.)
Banned for taking so long to ban someone.
Related to receiving bad advice, that's actually a good rule of thumb.

As any kind of creative, especially someone that actually tries, you will receive bad faith or shallow critique eventually in your lifetime.

So my personal tip is, "Ask your critics to elaborate." Then, if it's not a legitimate place of criticism. You can watch them crumble like dust, make it about you versus the work itself, or pivot topics on a dime. You know, the 'cuz I said so' types, who can't actually answer the counterpoints you raised.

Because it's only truly the worst advice, when it comes from malice and envy.
And I'd love to reply to this thread with something gaming related to counter balance the petty back and forth, but I've really only been playing a MOBA with friends. And those hardly count as real games, so out of luck in that regard.

(Thanks forum, for making this double post possible.)
I see how quickly you abandoned the spelling insults when you yourself put a quote without a closed bracket.

This is what you said. (And on a tangent, that isn't even correct in the first place. Since it wasn't a quote.)

And even if it you did relate it grammar. It's not that either.

Also, have you looked up the Last Of Us 2's team bitching and sniping at Jason Schreier yet? Or do you still want to embarrass yourself by claiming I wasn't correct all along?

(And here, I'll post your own reply for you. ^_^)

"I don't care about that." (I know. I said that.)

"Snide comment that fails to land." (Believe me, I'm already looking forward to it.)

"I'm just gonna skirt over the fact this whole conversation was debating over if 'Naughty Dog attacked its critics' and 'did that lead to bad PR'." (It did. You claim it didn't. But I'm right. That was fun, can't wait to see the inevitable reply two weeks later. c:)

Oh, and for the love of sanity, don't actually reply with an excuse why it took so long to start arguing with me again. It's a joke.
The amount of time I tend to spend at a word processor versus actually writing words is just fucking infuriating sometimes.
