My Very Brief Bio

Male, 33 years old. (I'm even more dead than before.)

Likes (other than writing and roleplaying): I'm into all genres of music. I love to cook. I love the outdoors, and walking through the park near my house. (Yes, really.) I read a lot of thriller/mystery novels. And I usually watch seasonal anime. (Or cooking shows. Because Western Media provides even fewer things that are worth watching.)

But as for my many other neglected hobbies, I've played basically every sport. (Soccer and Bowling being my favorite of the bunch.) And I'm trying to play more video games. (Going through my never-ending Steam library.) Plus, I've dabbled in making electronic & metal music, and I used to play a number of instruments. (Guitar, French Horn, etc.)

Hope you have a wonderful day!

To avoid repeating things I've said before. If I do a direct comparison with roleplays I started and track how long they lasted. (Total word count.) In comparison to 2019. The difference is staggering. From more roleplays in general (albeit PM/off site) and from what was once months at most, became almost a whole year for at least a few of them.

But in 2021, I may focus on different avenues. Novel writing, maybe. Personal fitness? Haven't quite nailed down my "new years resolution" yet. Though it might turn out to be a very different year for me, regardless.
I have not and will never shop online for groceries.

My roommate did, and I got to put away what little did arrive. The highlights include a single bag with the following, a single small green banana, 5 avocados, dish soap, and a single dollar's worth of ham slices.

(Coincidentally, I happened to go grocery shopping for the *third* time this month. And I stepped in a big ass puddle on my way inside. Because 2020.)
@Ammokkx Yeah, that's fair enough. Like I said, I'm sure that I wouldn't have burnt myself out in the way I did. If I wouldn't have even bothered with the job stuff. I just figured that it was something to do, because I was told that they're quite useful to have. (Though I have done some of those tribe quests, if I've not mistaken.)

Also, related and unrelated to prior statements. My friend's obsession for Final Fantasy 12, has saved me from playing more Prequel Borderlands. So I can't help but be thankful for that.

Now I only need to actually be in the mood to start playing video games. '>.>
I didn't die.

This, but without any irony?

Well, uh. I certainly did the things that I tasked myself to do. Thus, I was more productive and optimistic person than I was last year in almost every way. (Not that it amounted to very much in the end.)

Though through my wasted efforts, Christmas went better than last year. (And many other things were going better until recently too.) So I won't lie, my highlights kind of got drowned out by everything and everybody else. But um...at least I had a few this time?

And I'm sure that I'll be having an enjoyable/extended time with a friend of mine tomorrow. So there's something to look forward to, at least.

Plus, unlike many years prior, I won't have to worry about moving in the most inconvenient season. So there's one burden that I avoided. But then again, I suppose there's still a few more days for something to come along and burn it to the ground.

(Oh, and my dark sense of humor is still intact. Does that count for something?)
@Ammokkx In MMO veteran land, I scratched the surface. (Mid 50-ish? I believe.)

I mean, I could easily see myself spending more time on the story and side quests for a bit longer. But I just can't sit there and cook/fish. I'll go insane.
I can't say I agree with you on this, because with the armory boost and the adventurer in need stuff plus just good old dungeon running, levelling jobs has rarely been enjoyable. Plus leves and the like make the crafting jobs way easier than ever. I'm curious what aspect you didn't enjoy and if it was POTD then I guess that's understandable.

It sounds like you do agree, maybe? I dunno.

*shrugs* I don't know how much "fun" I had playing FF14 exactly. Since the combat is fairly mindless for the class I played. (Summoner) Admittedly, I wasn't exactly enthralled by the story either. (Which is supposed to be its greatest strength.) But it was an alright experience. (Probably due to playing with others. Though it *is* that kind of game.) Certainly never runs out of quests to throw at you, even if a lot of them are "teleport to one side of map, and then teleport back again."

But I was just itching to play an MMO again. Though I was really starting to feel the grind while trying to level certain jobs. Since most of it involved finding particular items that I needed to craft. Having no NPC that sells that item. Using the shop, then dreading the fact that everyone sells things overpriced and in bulk. Soul sucking is a hyperbole. But it was just tedious enough that I wondered if I could be playing more engaging things instead.
Seeing how much they took advantage of the PS4's touchpad. Call me a skeptic on that front.

Well, Christmas nearly cut my Steam wishlist in half. So I have an absolute fuck ton of new games to play. (Including those recently recommended.) So hopefully that will keep me occupied and capable of having things to talk about.

Such as my first impressions of Ori's sequel, which seems to be an improvement gameplay/combat wise. Though its opening certainly fails to be as emotionally effective this time around. But I haven't played more yet because my friend's now making me spend most of my time playing more Borderlands with him. (This time it's the Prequel.) So, I will be thoroughly sick of 'Spambush: The Game' sometime in the near future, I'm sure. Especially since the Prequel is already starting to feel like a lesser version of 2. (And I'd rather be playing Ori over Borderlands, at the very least. But I'm not anti-social enough to say no to a friend. So, endlessly grind I must.)

Also, if I can complain about grind for a moment. Final Fantasy 14 was a solid time sink. (While playing with others.) But holy fuck, leveling jobs in this game genuinely feels like soul sucking work. So in the same way people hope for the new generation consoles not to be massive disappointments. I will wish for a future MMO (or hell, I'll even take a MOBA) that might actually be fun.

Plus, in a way and reason I can't specify. (So feel free to use your own imagination.) My roommate has thoroughly destroyed his Switch very recently. So maybe I'll ask to acquire his joystick, and save myself the literal months long impossibility of finding a single left blue joycon at any retail store. (Mwhaha. Nintendo, why do always have to keep your products so understocked?)
In the same vein of not really listening to music. We have music skits.

So, this was a thought that I scrapped putting here about Cyberpunk 2077. Regarding Cyberpunk's tweet about assuring refunds, and Sony's robot customer service rejecting those request en masse. Which proceeded to lead Sony to outright remove the thing from the store a day or so later. (A store that probably still has a mountain of unplayable shovelware still on it. Like 'Life Of Black Tiger'.) Though I didn't know if that said more about the game, or Sony.

But now, after seeing videos of how it performs on both console versions, and how Microsoft removed it from their store too. On top of everything else that was fairly predictable considering its long development.

For what its worth, my roommate has been playing it nonstop and has been pretty adamant that it's his favorite game eva. So perhaps it will be worth looking at, after the upcoming patches...

Also, here's your laugh for the day. Unless you do live in Australia.
