OK, so I had originally planned for the shuttle leaving gate B5 to be only for the cog pilots, so I'm going to say that Mike's flight was moved to B5 as well(because he missed his original flight, which was for general staff, the day before or something). I hope that's ok with you. I'm also going to have Tera arrive at the gate before Israfil and Mike get there, since they're late and Tera will arrive at the gate on time.
Solomon's train reached the top of the space elevator and he got off, making his way through the hallways and malls of the spaceport. he had arrived a bit early, so decided to grab a drink before heading to his gate. Unfortunately, the line at the vendor booth was unusually long today. He looked at the back of the person in front of him and wondered if the man was Ascended or Wildtype. Solomon grimaced as he thought about how in the past, Wildtypes were required to wear identifying clothing, and how that was no longer the case. If he could know if the person in front of him was Wildtype, he would remorselessly use his mind control to have that person get out of line for him. Of course, Solomon would never admit that so self-centered was he that he was incapable of using his telepathy to read minds, only to control them. Rather than risk trying to control the mind of another Ascended, Solomon waited patiently until it was his turn to place his order. Solomon arrived at his gate well ahead of schedule. He had been thinking of the glory that he would bring to himself in service of the Ascendancy when he noticed two young women waiting at the gate. They seemed to be the first ones to arrive. if they were Ascendeds, then he would say they were probably overacheivers, but if they were Wildtypes, he would say they were overeager sycophants. Holding his drink in one hand and scratching his head in dismay with the other, Solomon missed his purely Ascended upbringing, where confusing Ascendeds with Wildtypes wasn't an issue he had to worry about. At the moment, he wasn't sure whether or not to be polite to every new person he met, so he just sat down, a bit away from the two and kept to himself.
Sure thing, Mike can be on the same train/elevator as Israfil. So in case I didn't make it clear, the train is actually an elevator that takes passengers from the planet surface up to the spaceport which is like a space-station, but it is tethered to the planet by the space elevator. The spaceport is like an airport, where people board shuttles that take them to other orbital, untethered space stations, or to fleets in orbit. As for ranks, I am using the following link. Changes I am making are that for combatants and command posts, we will go from Ensign to Fleet Admiral, whereas for non-combatants like Mike, we will go from Seaman to Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy. If Mike's just starting out, make him a Seaman, if he has some experience under his belt, you can make him a Petty Officer 3rd Class (PO3).
Yes, a character like that would be good. At least for now, Asteria's repair is good only for surface-level damage. The hangar has a team of technicians who are responsible not only for repair, but for general maintenance, calibration and fine-tuning. And mechanical prosthetics are absolutely allowed.
Posted the first IC post! Also added some locations to the first OC post. As a reminder, a 'concert' is the term I will be using for a fleet of spaceships. Some of the locations have background music. For the time being, introduce your characters (you can do flashbacks if you want), and get the twins to Gate B5 of the spaceport. Let me know if you want them to have arrived early, on-time, or late like poor Israfil. Or if you prefer they take a different shuttle, that's fine too.
It has been more than 70 years since the end of the Race Wars. During the unstable non-aggression that followed, the three empires: the Federated Alliance of Sol, the Ascendancy, and Horizon, have attempted to address lingering racial tension within their own borders with varying degrees of success. Border skirmishes continue to flare up as the empires fight over disputed territory. Unification of the galaxy is, for some, a dream of lasting peace and an end to conflict; for others, the ambition to dominate. A technology exists that was too time-consuming, too costly to implement in the heat of war, and only now, it has begun to bear fruit. A technology that is an uncanny merger of mind and machine, a technology capable of finding unprecedented ways to implement existing science to create novel weapons, a technology that is touted by some to be, "the final evolution of conflict". --- "Will Mr. Eihon, Israfil, please report to Gate B5?" came the monotonous voice over the PA, "Your shuttle is waiting for you to depart. I repeat, will Mr. Eihon, Israfil, please..." Israfil dropped his shoulder bag nervously, as the other passengers in the space elevator train turned to look at him quizzically. A few months ago, he was notified that he had been selected to be one of the first generation of cog pilots. This came as something of a surprise, as he was sure he had failed in his pilot assessment. He was nervous and excited, yet despite that, he had overslept and now he was waiting for the long train ride to take him all the way from the surface of the planet to the attached spaceport, from where he would be shuttled to the carrier upon which he would serve. He hadn't yet seen his cog and wondered what it looked like and how it operated. He expected to find something defective and deformed, expected that some terrible mistake had occurred and that he'd get blamed for costing the Ascendancy innumerable sums of money that he'd never be able to repay. He took a deep breath and tried to calm himself down. he had to tell himself that maybe this was his chance to shine, maybe this was the niche he had been looking for all his life. The train began to slow, and when it finally came to a complete stop, indicators gave the passengers permission to unlatch themselves from their seats. In zero-gravity, Israfil floated forward, guiding himself along with handrails and automated ziphandles that would take him to where he needed to go.
Alright, I've got all the ensigns up (Israfil, Solomon, and Tera). Claire and Blythe will be starting out with the rank of ensign (also, come up with a last name for them). There is still a Lieutenant Junior Grade and a Lieutenant for the Cog Team that I need to put up, as well as the captain of the ship, for starters. However, I will try to get an opening post up in the IC soon and introduce the higher ranking officers as they come.
Name: Tera QAZ (Pronounce 'Kaz') Rank: Ensign Appearance: Tera identifies as a young woman and has chosen a suitable physical chassis. She has shoulder length black hair and piercing red eyes. She wears glasses simply for aesthetic reasons, though it adds to the thoughtful, perceptive air she has around her. Physical Age: 11 Mental Age: Adult Race: Quantum Citizenship: The Ascendancy Personality: Unlike some Quantums, Tera has chosen to explore and embrace her humanity, taking a completely human physical appearance and attempting as much as possible to engage with others to explore and express emotions. Still, her upbringing has taught her to value reason and logic, so she can come off as awkward and reserved, and she is very shy around humans, while being much more open among other Quantums. She has inherited from her predecessors the knack for reading body language very accurately to detect pain and emotional distress, and is often very caring and compassionate. History: Before the Race Wars, while the first Quantums were built to be nothing more than war machines, the Ascendancy, in order to fill in essential duties that were beneath Ascendeds, manufactured a large population of working class Quantums. Tera's predecessors were nursing Quantums, created to serve in hospitals under the guidance of Ascended physicians and managers, and did not get involved when the Quantums rebelled, sticking to their creed of saving lives. Her predecessors simply waited out the violence until Quantums eventually were granted civil rights. Having not suffered terribly at the hands of their human overlords, Tera's predeccessors raised her to cherish life and respect the humans. It is perhaps for this reason that she was randomly selected to take part in a cog-scan even though she had no intention of joining the military. Theme Song: Little Wing - JAM Project Cog: Mayura Physical Description: Mayura has a svelte build and is slightly smaller than other cogs. It has decent speed and fairly low armor. The massive sensor array on its back fans out into iridescent, radiating fins. Its main color is blue, supplemented by white and green, with a dash of red. Tactical role: Reconnaissance, communications, espionage, tactical positioning. Evaluation:
  • Cog Score: 5
  • Pilot Skill: 3
  • Mental Fortitude: 10
  • Obedience: 10
Weapon/Equipment/Special Systems List:
  • Beam rifle
  • Bayonet (attached to beam rifle)
  • Garuda sensor system
Name: Solomon Lear
Rank: Ensign
Appearance: Solomon is of a thin-medium build, and of medium height, though he dresses to make himself appear taller. He has neck-length, dark green hair and golden, condescending eyes. When his face is not cold and arrogant, it is a wide, sadistic grin or subtle grimace of contempt. His pale skin reflects his pampered upbringing.

Age: 21
Race: Ascended
Citizenship: The Ascendancy
Personality: Solomon is nothing if not arrogant. An Ascended supremacist to the fullest degree, his superiority complex is backed by his high performance statistics. He is an achiever and is used to praise and getting a free pass when it comes to harassing, belittling, and abusing those who are weaker than him. To other Ascendeds, he can be chummy and sometimes even a bit humble, though he never truly sees other Ascendeds as his betters, at best they are his equals.
History: Raised in an environment of success, Solomon was groomed to be the best and to mingle only with the best. Since the Ascendancy established the merit system, it has been Solomon's goal to earn the title of nobility for the Lear family name. If his performance as a cog pilot is exemplary, he will get his wish.
Theme Song: Ghaleon's Theme - Noriyuki Iwadare

Cog: Legion
Physical Description: Legion is tall and thin with disproportionately broad shoulders, blade-like feathers, called 'bits', draped regally along its body, though the bits that are on the shoulder point upwards like spikes. The antenna array on Legion's head looks like a crown. Legion is a high mobility, low-armor unit. The bits are self-propelled, remote-controlled weapons platforms that fly around, firing beams from unexpected angles. When connected to Legion, these bits lend their thruster output to compensate for the additional weight. Legion's primary color is white, and secondary colors are gray and gold.

Tactical role: Formation disruption, damage output, deception, large area suppression, control effects.
Evaluation:
  • Cog Score: 10
  • Pilot Skill: 9
  • Mental Fortitude: 8
  • Obedience: 7
Weapon/Equipment/Special Systems List:
  • Lemegeton array - The array is the part of Legion's computer system that allows Solomon to control the bits remotely through the intricate crown-like antenna on Legion's head. The bits need to refuel occasionally by reattaching to Legion. The Lemegeton array has also been shown to amplify Solomon's particular brand of telepathy, mind-control.
  • 18 Demon Bits (3 mounted on each forearm, 3 mounted on each shoulder, and 6 mounted on the skirt)
  • 72 Light beam cannons (4 per bit)
  • Beam spear
