Man, that stinks. Companies are so unwilling to train new employees nowadays. While schools continue to say that you'll learn important skills "on-the-job", companies expect people to come out of schools already trained. There's this stupid gap that no one's willing to fill, and it becomes an unreasonable expectation on us, the prospective employee.

Well I'm not going to give you any job advice unless you want me to, since I'm sure everyone else you've talked to have probably said more or less the same things. If you need to vent some more, feel free to do so. Use this as an avenue for escape and release.
"Ah, I see, I'll be counting on you then," Israfil replied, he was a little disappointed that they wouldn't be teammates, but at least they'd still be working closely. Israfil went up to Sion and apologized, "I'm so sorry for being late, sir."

"Apology...accepted," Sion replied, trying to keep his voice from sounding too short. Israfil expected Sion would say more and when he didn't, Israfil sort of just bowed awkwardly and went inside the shuttle.

Tera got up and went in the shuttle as well. When she passed by in front of Sion, she nodded to him slightly and gave a gentle smile. Sion, who had maintained his stoicism up to this point, smiled back in reassurance, and gave a quick, wary glance at Solomon.

Sion stood by the gate to make sure everyone got in the shuttle.
If you're open to talk about it, I'm here to listen, but if you'd rather keep it private, I'm not going to pry.
Israfil couldn't help but smile a bit at Mike's carefree attitude. It was amazing how Mike didn't seem at all nervous at having missed a flight for a military assignment. "I am," Israfil answered in response to Mike's question about being a cog pilot, "a-are you one as well?" he asked, despite hints to the contrary. He felt he was starting off on the right foot this time, making friends with a fellow pilot before they even arrived at the carrier. As they approached gate B5, however, Israfil got the distinct feeling that he was starting off on the wrong foot, because of the look that two of the people already there, Sion and Solomon, were giving him. Solomon, of course, was glaring at Israfil for being late, and trying to guess his race. Sion on the other hand, was trying to gauge whether Israfil's tardiness was due to haplessness or disregard. Sion would prefer the former, as not everyone can choose to be on time even if they wanted to, whereas the latter would imply an insubordinate personality, which would contradict Israfil's assessment. Schedules and plans mean a lot to Sion, so deviations bothered him considerably, though he tried his best not to let it show. This however did not make a good first impression for the team; Sion was foreseeing a lot of friction between the ensigns. "Well, everyone's arrived, I am Lieutenant Junior Grade Sion RHS, you can call me lieutenant 'Reese'. I will be your commanding officer. Please board the shuttle in a timely manner." Sion decided not to add, "we are already late," to the end of his sentence as he didn't want to create any more tension.
So at this point, none of the ensigns have seen their cogs yet. They will see them when they arrive on the Incubator and visit the hangar. As for Asteria's healing ability, I was thinking that it was a nozzle attached to a hose attached to a tank. The tank is filled with nanomachines. Asteria has to be close to the patient cog in order to heal it. The Asteria has a portion of the Stern Algorithm in itself, which is how it can make the nanomachines repair cogs. This also gives the Asteria the ability to become sentient in the future. I'll leave it up to you to slowly build up the plot of Asteria (and Nyx) becoming sentient.
Solomon glared daggers at Blythe after hearing her response. He opened his mouth, about to say something offensive when a voice cut him off with the finality of a guillotine. "Quantum." came the third reply to Solomon's question. The answer came from Lieutenant Junior Grade Sion RHS, who had just arrived at the gate himself. "It should be time to board soon," he continued, derailing the topic with brute force, "but we're missing someone." He walked over to the gate attendant and said something to him. The attendant pressed a button and moved his mouth closer to the microphone attached to his kiosk and made the following announcement, "Will Mr. Eihon, Israfil, please report to Gate B5? Your shuttle is waiting for you to depart. I repeat, will Mr. Eihon, Israfil, please..." --- Israfil's face lit up a bit against his better judgment, "Oh...I-it's a pleasure to meet you." His face suddenly darkened. Someone introduced himself just to be friendly, and they'd have to part ways soon, never to each other again. "W-well, I'm heading over to gate B5...I'm already late enough as it is. I...I hope you have a safe trip, wherever you're going."
Name: Catherine "Control Tower" Hargreaves Rank: Captain Appearance: The captain is svelte and feminine, with a sly look in her sharp, violet eyes. She dresses professionally when not in uniform and keeps her long, lilac hair in a bun. Age: 36 Race: Ascended Citizenship: The Ascendancy Personality: Catherine is collected and exudes a calm that many actually find intimidating and threatening, a feeling that she is calm because she knows more about you than you do of her, and this gives her an advantage over you, that her knowledge of you is something she can and will use against you. This is a true assessment on most people's parts because her telepathic ability is in fact mind-reading. She is so good at it in fact, that she has earned the nicknames "Control Tower" and "Silent Bridge", as everyone working on the bridge does not need to speak since they merely need to think what they wish to report to her and she already knows it. Catherine keeps this ability muted outside of her bridge as all her bridge officers signed a form of consent before working under her. Unexpectedly, she tries to make all her working relationships personal, as she believes that the greatest loyalty can be had from personal relationships, and has a tendency to get to know everyone on her ship. History: Despite her rank, Catherine's history of service in the galactic navy started as a commander. Before that, she was with the intelligence division. Her stint as a commander was really just to acclimate her to commanding a ship, since intelligence wanted her to to have direct control of the Incubator Project. Theme Song: Boomer Kuwanger Jazz Remix - The OneUps
Tera headed to gate B5 and saw three people sitting in the waiting area, one of whom was sleeping. She gave a subdued smile, first to Blythe and then to Solomon as an initial greeting. She could tell that something was clearly bothering Solomon, but Blythe was a little harder to read. But Tera wasn't going to push herself on them and sat down equidistant from both the sisters and Solomon. "...hey..." Solomon began a bit weakly, but then refilled his confidence, "Hey! You guys Ascended?" He couldn't take it anymore, all this having to guess. Anyways, he figured that if someone was Ascended, they should say so proudly, and if not, then they'd better answer because they were being asked by an Ascended. Tera looked at Solomon with a bit of apprehension, and answered "...Quantum..." Solomon had tilted his head in Tera's direction when he heard her, but lazily rolled his head away with a quiet, "pfft", after actually hearing her answer. He glared at Blythe, waiting for her response. --- "Ah!...uh...Hi...Mike. I'm Israfil...d-did you need something?" Israfil replied as cordially as he could muster, wondering if he had done something to offend this person. It was unusual for someone to come and greet him simply out of politeness. He then suddenly remembered that his name had been shouted over the PA only moments ago, making him feel embarrassed at giving this person his name.
Name: Maya Encarnacion Rank: Lieutenant Appearance: Maya is physically attractive in the conventional sense, having a very good figure, a healthy tan, big brown eyes, and long, dark brown hair, though she dyes her bangs pink. Age: 27 Race: Ascended Citizenship: The Ascendancy Personality: People's first impression of Maya is usually one of gentleness; she often comes off as a big sister or motherly type. What often throws people off is that she can be very enthusiastic and gung-ho, and when it comes down to it, can exude a serious and commanding presence. Her telepathic ability is to sense nearby danger moments before it actually reaches her, giving her an uncanny ability to react to life-threatening situations. History: Maya is Ascendancy nobility on her mother's side, who was one of the chief scientists for the final stage of the Ascendancy branch of the Cadmus Project. When it came time to pick the first cog pilot for the Ascendancy, Maya's mother recommended her. before that, Maya was already serving in the Ascendancy Galactic Navy and had already demonstrated her ability. The decision-makers thought it was fitting that the inception of the project should be spearheaded by Ascended nobility. Theme Song: Okkusenman - JAM Project Cog: Obsidian Physical Description: Dark, bulky and massive, Obsidian is heavily armored, using military martial arts as it's primary method of dealing damage. The Obsidian's Primary color is black, its secondary color is green, with some white and gold mixed in. Tactical role:Combat initiation, tank, vanguard. Evaluation:

Name: Sion RHS (pronounced 'Reese') Rank: Lieutenant Junior Grade Appearance: Sion vaguely identifies as an adult male and has chosen an appropriate chassis. He is fairly tall, and has short maroon hair and red eyes. Age: 48 Mental Age: Adult Race: Quantum Citizenship: The Ascendancy Personality: Sion embodies the stereotypical 'robotic' personality, being emotionless, cold, and obedient. It is part of the Quantum's core programming to have emotions, so Sion's personality is more of an idiosyncrasy or a personal choice. However, unlike other Quantums who choose the path of emotionlessness, Sion does not in fact see emotions as a human weakness, he merely has an unrelenting sense of duty and believes that clear-headedness is the most efficient path to mission success. History: Sion was created by the Ascendancy towards the end of the Race Wars as a soldier. Throughout his short campaign, his mind has been uploaded into various machines of war and thus has very little attachment to his body. After the wars ended, he remained with the Ascendancy military and was even part of the Cadmus Project since his mind was an ideal case when it came to comfort in different machine bodies. The Cadmus project finally completed and became the Incubator Project. A promising young Ascended was recruited to be the first cog pilot, while Sion became her reliable support. Theme Song: Shinra Company Re-orchestrated - Nobuo Uematsu Cog: Fury Physical Description: Fury is not humanoid, it looks instead like three jet fighters stacked together, belly to belly. The three parts can separate and operate independently as Sion is comfortable controlling all three, though he only sits in one of them. It is lightly armored and fast, while each separate part is even faster. Each jet also has a pair of hidden arms. The primary color of Fury is red, it's secondary colors are black and white, with a dash of gold. Tactical role:Sniper, long-range precision damage, guerilla skirmishing. Evaluation:
  • Cog Score: 7
  • Pilot Skill: 10
  • Mental Fortitude: 9
  • Obedience: 9
Weapon/Equipment/Special Systems List:
  • 3 Beam sniper rifles (mounted on the belly of each jet) - When combined, can fire a devastating charged beam shot
  • 6 Light beam guns (mounted in each hidden arm)
  • 6 mass daggers (mounted in each hidden arm)
