I'll be going on a two week vacation starting tomorrow and don't know how often I'll have Internet access. Thank you for your patience. I'll try to be more regular when I get back.

"No, nothing's wrong," Tera replied, "I was just...listening to your conversation." Tera had always known that she was a quiet person, but it had never occurred to her that she was 'noticeably quiet'. "I guess these cogs really are optimized to our personalities; Mayura's main function is observation."

"Um, yes," Israfil agreed a little too quickly, then asked, "What did you have in mind?"
"Why, yes you can," Pharazon replied to Arienne's question. Pharazon came as close to 'beaming' as their generally expressionless demeanor would allow, pleased to see such professional enthusiasm. "You can see catwalks that lead right up to your cogs' cockpits. At the end of the catwalk is a diagnostics console. Consult it for more information on your cogs, and let the console scan your drives to gain entry into your cogs. Now each cog is unique from what I can tell, so what you find inside may differ from mine, but my cockpit lets me run practice simulations, so I'm assuming that yours' will also."
Maya stayed silent for a bit. She didn't like how the program recruited from the civilian population. Where they were headed, the pilots would certainly have to face the grim reality of combat. "alright, well, I really just wanted to introduce myself. Good luck with your training." Maya left the comm link and exited her cog.

"I think our mission starts when we leave hyperspace," israfil said. He checked his drive for information on the current mission. It revealed the destination and ETA. It should take a little less than 24 hours to get there, so I suppose I'm free until then." Israfil wondered why Mike wanted to know.
Eponine had half-expected to land on the tiny ice planetoid, and that the witch would come hovering over the horizon to attack her, so she was slightly surprised to have actually broken through the surface, though she did manage to land on her feet and activate her shield right before making impact with the far side of the inner wall of the ice sphere. When the witch launched icicles at her, Eponine reactively enabled her shield to shrug off the projectiles, feeling her magic drop for each icicle that bounced off of her. She looked up expectantly, waiting for Violetta to jump down, melt a hole through the ice ball and join her in her fight against the witch. It took a moment before it dawned on Eponine that Violetta may not be joining her as soon as she liked, and standing there looking upwards only made Eponine an easy target for the hostile magical abomination directly above her.

Dodging another flurry of icicles, Eponine summoned a second hammer and began spinning in place like a top, her arms outstretched, swing the hammers. After gaining enough rotational inertia, she tilted her spin slightly and launched one, and then the other hammer at the witch, hoping to do some damage. Before the hammers hit, Eponine summoned another hammer and prepared for a retaliation from Byrea.
Count me in!
Sorry, I've been a bit busy, But I'll definitely get a post up tomorrow.
I forgot to mention, but your group of cogs will be called a 'Lance', and you can refer to your fellow pilots as 'Lancemates' (this terminology is taken from the BattleTech universe). Pharazon is Lance Leader. Groups of strikecraft will also be referred to as 'lances'.

You have free time to explore. You can let me know either in IC or OOC where you want to explore and I will make a post detailing each area. The areas are listed out in the Opening OOC post, but they are:

Bridge - Where the Captain, Commander and other officers are controlling the ship
Hangar - Where you currently are, where the cogs are stored and where maintenance is done on the cogs. In the center is the Cadmus Reactor itself, the machine that manufactures and upgrades cogs.
Mess Hall - Where you go to eat and socialize.
Barracks - Living quarters, showers, gyms, offices. Your luggage has already been moved there.
Engine Room - Where the Tachyon Harp Engine is located. Also where thruster propulsion is located along with other essential support systems. Where you'll find most of the engineers that don't work on the cogs.
Infirmary - Where the doctors and nurses work. Also where the brig (on-ship jail) is located.
Pharazon saw Corina's nod of approval and returned an expressionless nod of acknowledgment. Pharazon also noticed Arienne's fascination with her cog, which relieved Pharazon who suspected that Corina and Arienne may have had misgivings about the project. Such misgivings no longer seemed to be a concern.

"Ah, Ch-Chie, e-even if your cog is great, p-please try to be more more respectful of your comrades," Dr. Alberton said in a deflated fashion.

Pharazon tried simply to ignore the Albertons altogether, "If you don't have any questions, then you have twelve hours of free time to unpack, explore the carrier, or catch up on sleep to get a head-start in aligning your biological clocks with Universal Space Time if you didn't get a chance to do so at the Space Elevator. A map of the ship has been sent to your personal drive accounts along with a fleet encyclopedia, which should be useful if you are confused about terminology or protocol. You have free access to all parts of the ship. For the time being, the Bridge and Engine Room are open as well so you may explore those locations if you wish. Usually, you shouldn't go to those places if you have no business being there, but..." Pharazon looked at Dr. Alberton, expecting him to explain why such protocol-breaching levels of freedom had been granted.

Dr. Alberton jumped in, "Ah yes, well since the cogs are based on your personalities, it is hypothesized that if any strong forces were present to change or alter your personality, way of thinking or decision-making processes, your ability to pilot optimally may be negatively impacted. A decision was made to give as much freedom and flexibility to the pilots as possible as long as it did not compromise the mission or jeopardize the safety of others. This is also why you were not subjected to professional military training."

Pharazon's eyes lingered on Chie for a fraction of a second too long when Dr. Alberton said his last remark. "And there you have it," Pharazon concluded, "If you would like to talk to me, I'll be in my office in the Barracks."
"Don't worry, we'll take things slowly," Maya reassured Claire. It would be pointless to force people to get along. "So it seems both of your cogs are non-combatant-types. That's kind of reassuring; it means that the committee evaluating cogs weren't just looking for weapons of destruction." Maya knew from her time in the fleet that fringe groups in the Ascendancy thirsted for conquest and revenge, and she had seen their influence spread among the military. That two out of seven cog prototypes could be non-combatants meant that maybe their influence hadn't spread as far as she feared.

Mike's last statement struck Israfil. It meant Mike didn't abuse his power. "I guess you're a normal guy, like everyone else," Israfil said, reassured, "Thanks for showing me."
Because Eponine's body was slowly losing the ability to feel due to her wish, and cold already had a numbing effect, cold became one of the first sensations she stopped being able to notice easily. So the cold wasn't bothering her as Violetta expected though, it did make her muscle movements alternate between sluggish and erratic at times, the effects of slowed muscle metabolism combined with the instinct to shiver. This didn't make it any easier for her to traverse the ice trees as she followed Violetta, lagging a bit behind.

When they saw the giant ball of ice hovering below them, Eponine was bit relieved. It was large enough that she could land on it without slipping and falling into the endless sky, and it seemed like the likeliest place for the witch to be. Without another word, Eponine jumped down from the branch she was one and right before she hit the ice ball, turned on her shield and activated 'reject', making sure that she incurred none of the damage from the fall while transferring all the force of the impact into the ball. What happened next would depend entirely on how strong the ball was; would it absorb the shock, would it shatter, or would it do something else entirely?
