"Well, we should be getting back to work," Balio interrupted.

"What? But-" Sunder interjected.

"Let's. Go." Balio said with finality.

"A-alright," Sunder repleid, defeated, "Well, see you later, E-Eline."

"Maybe you're right," Harin acquiesced. "Well, time to continue working." He got up with Gil, and went back to the foundation for the new house, though Gil started working on something else with the wood that was lying around.
"Intriguing..." the man muttered before he closed his large book, his golden eyes falling on his prisoners. A cold, aloof air followed him as he walked over to the 14 year old looking vampire. "Igraine, it has been quite some time. I remember when you were just a toddler. London's little miracle. You were quite the demanding princess even then. Your father never paid you any heed though. I have yet to understand why you still remain in Amaury's domain, but perhaps you crave his blessing. I can tell you now that such an endeavor is... nigh impossible." Unlike his demeanor, his voice was soothing and calm, welcoming even. Marc felt some sympathy for the girl. To live in the shadow of someone so... cruel and inhumane was heartbreaking. "If you find you can deal with the pain no more, you are always welcome in my halls. It would not be the first time I've had someone with his blood in my House." the Elder extended an invitation to the girl. Beneath those eyes of hers, he saw that Igraine could be greater than what she was. Whether or not she would listen, well... It was Amaury's daughter he was talking to, so he doubted she would defect to him.

He strides just in front of the human, running the powder through his hand. "This is a new product brought from South America called coca. It can be used as an anesthetic for certain surgical procedures, but it is mostly abused as a nervous system stimulant. Before now, it had yet to reach England. I am sure Amaury imported it, the clever fiend he is." he lectured, probably boring the two of them with his scientific approach to his wording. He diverts his stare to Igraine. Without missing much of a beat, he jumps right into another lecture. "This was stolen right from under your father's nose. Although Amaury did not notice, Louis Ventrue took it from him. I am constantly amazed by that man's boldness as it was in plain sight of Francois and I. Ventrue, I assume, sent his Aspirant on a suicide mission then since he would, naturally, not know what this coca was. The man is too... ignorant... to understand his actions."

Afterwards, the Elder produces two filled needles from his robes. Each contains a foreign, purple sizzling liquid. "Now, I hope I have informed you of enough to be at peace with one another. You will go back to your masters with what you have learned from me. Igraine, I shall return your narcotics and pike back to you, as I don't wish for you to be harmed tonight. Amaury has zero tolerance for failure. And you, human, shall return to Ventrue with what you have learned, but do not be surprised if he has forgotten about your task already." With that, he took one needle and injected the substance into Augustus' veins first. No amount of writing would break their chains. Then Marc advanced on Igraine, implanting the same liquid into the Grangrel. At first, there was no impact on them, but that would soon change.

"This liquid will ensure you don't remember this place. You will remember my words, but nothing of what you have seen. Also, don't try to kill each other. I'll be watching you."

With that, both of Marc's captives went limp.

Augustus and Igraine wake up in a deserted alleyway, backs against the wall and lumped upon one another. The vampiress' pike is wrapped up again, and the human's pistol hangs from a holster at his waist. Passersby comment on them, either mistaking them for the homeless or two lovers.

Igraine wakes up and grabs her head in confusion. She finds herself on top of the human and quickly gets off. She gives herself a quick once over to make sure she hasn't been touched or violated in any way. Assured that nothing had been done to her, Igraine picks up her pike and looks down at Augustus. She considers ending him here, but Ravnos' words held her back. She doubted that she could expressly disobey an elder while in his territory immediately after he had issued those orders and expect to live. She slings the pike over her shoulder and makes sure she still has the block of coca. While the human wasn't much of a threat, the fact that Ravnos had told him all about the coca was worrisome. She didn't know what the erratic Ventrue would do with such information. It was also troubling to know that Ventrue had managed to steal it off of her father in the first place. Either way, her mission was accomplished, she could return to the nest and present the brick to the Wraith; she might even offer it in Lady Park's behalf, the Wraith would know Igraine retrieved the coca, but maybe it would make Elizabeth more appreciative of Igraine. But Igraine still couldn't shake the fact that letting this human run free was a good idea. Unsure what to do, she roughly prodded Augustus with her foot. "Hey! Wake up!"

Alban had just poured them a glass of wine and taken a swig of his when those words came out of Shizuka's mouth. His eyes seemed to expand twice their size in horror, and he immediately started choking on the wine that hadn't yet met his stomach, coughing up a storm. He balled up a fist and beat on his chest until the coughing ceased. "W-W-Wife?!" the blond man stammered out, still in shock. He quickly held up both of his hands, staring at each of his ring fingers. Fortunately, there was no ring there. "O merci, mon Dieu!" (Oh thank you, God!) he triumphantly spoke, clasping his hands together in praise.

Breathing out and relaxing, Alban let out a nervous laugh, reaching back and scratching his head. "Sorry, I don't have a wife, Shizuka. The only women in my life are my daughter and my mother. Lucille was..." he pauses for a moment, considering how to phrase his words. "She was a surprise. Her mother, well... She wants nothing to do with either of us. She went back to her parent's estate in Seoul, I think..." Al's expression took on a more serious appearance when he got onto the topic of Lucille's mother. He couldn't forgive her for abandoning her daughter and responsibility as a mother. There was a certain malice for that woman lingering there in his heart for every time his daughter cried out for her mother, only to have no one there to take that place.

Al suddenly raised up the menu, taking a large gulp of wine and thumbing through the entrees. "Soooo... do you see anything that catches your fancy? I would suggest the boeuf bourguignon or the frog legs. I dont know if the frog legs are as good as my mother's though. She's from Louisiana in the United States, so she was practically raised on them." he cheerily stated, bringing back his smile and diverting the conversation away from heavy topics. The blond definitely didn't want to turn a fun night into a depressing one.

"I-I'm sorry, I simply assumed..." Shizuka apologized, "I'm sorry for bringing it up. You've done a fine job raising Lucille on your own..." She tried to reassure him and comfort him somehow but wasn't sure if she was doing it right. Seeing that Alban didn't want to dwell on the subject, Shizuka tried to match his cheery mood.

"Frogs?" Shizuka asked in surprise. It wasn't unheard of, but it was definitely something that was more iconically French. "Yes, I think I'll try the frog legs," Shizuka said, the dish having piqued her curiosity, "Even if they don't turn out to be as good as your mother's," she added with a bit of humor. Shizuka knew very little about Lousiana's culture and French influence but she remembered Alban saying this restaurant reminded him of home. "You're mother's American? Do they eat frogs in America? Are you American or French?"
I've been lurking around your interest check and even though I have enough RPs to keep me busy, it's hard to pass up a good superhero RP.

I wasn't sure where to put 'weaknesses' since her weaknesses do not really have anything to do with her power. For the most part, she's just a flesh and blood human, weaker than average. Her high damage attacks require precision (ie. shooting a laser from her hands), while any attack that has a large area coverage does fairly weak damage and is used for suppression (cymatic* disruption field). Rather than being 'powerful' Interference is 'versatile'. The power suit only slightly augments her strength and durability, and she has very little combat expertise. She cannot turn 'invisible' though she can attempt camouflage, and she can make herself 'unhearable'. She's also pretty hard to sneak up on since she's basically a walking radar/sonar. Her strength mostly lies in her plans and plotting; she has a tendency to pinpoint very specific weaknesses, like finding just the right frequency to shatter a wineglass. When it comes to supplying the other Assassins with tools and weapons, Eileen is the Oprah Winfrey of dangerous gadgets, and loves 'upgrading' her friends.

Let me know if this is an acceptable character.

* For those who are unfamiliar with the term 'cymatic', here's an example:
Marco took Leonard's hand, "Alright," he agreed with Rebecca. "I just want to know that she's okay, that...we're all okay..." Marco said, looking around. "Make sure she comes out eventually. We'll go check on Rana." Marco headed to the lift with Leonard and Alice. "S-Stella, where's Rana?"

Stella paused for a moment, accessing the ship's surveillance, "Ms. Haq is on the bridge."

"Thank you," Marco said and got into the lift, pushing the button for the bridge.

Arriving at the bridge, the lift doors opened, Rana stood there looking at a large screen that showed a map of the galaxy. Another hologram of Stella stood next to her.

"These are the Pathfinder systems?" Rana asked.

"Yes," Stella replied.

"Then set a course," Rana said, "We're taking the fight to them."
"They seem like nice people. The father's a fisherman. I'm looking forward to having fish. Haven't had fish in a long time," Sunder said.

"Hah!" Harin guffawed again, "my boys are at that age." He looked at Gil, who turned away, embarrassed, "And I just want to see them settled down, give me some grandchildren. But I suppose as elves you can take your time with these things." He meant it in an unoffensive way.
Asteria and Nyx were too far apart to combine. Meanwhile another of Fury's subunits was shot and disabled, leaving Nyx alone, surrounded. Fury's main unit, which had stayed behind with Orpheus and Mayura, was unable to clear a path for Nyx. Sion didn't want Orpheus to fire on Nyx's position for fear of hitting Nyx, though it probably would have cleared out a good number of the harassing strikecraft.

Then, having taken care of some of the enemy ship's cannons, Legion swooped over to the swarm of strikecraft, sending his demon bits to shoot down the strikecraft with precision. His distraction gave Nyx the opportunity it needed to make its way out of the cluster of enemy fighters.
Flashback:

@MyCatGinger

Having left the Shining Kettle, Shizuka made her way back to campus and to her dorm room; there were still several hours until her dinner with Alban, just enough time to finish grading the final projects and exams for Dr. Matsuoka's class. While she was grading, Shizuka looked outside at the dreary weather; well, at least most people thought it was dreary. Shizuka didn't mind the rain, in fact, she rather liked it. The cold and the wet had a somber, muting, calming effect on the world, while it simultaneously revitalized the earth.

When it came time, Shizuka headed out, taking public trasnportation to get to Le Bistro, where she'd meet up with Alban. While riding the bus, she got a text from Shou asking about the grading. Shizuka texted back to let him know that everything was ready to return to the students on Monday.

"Oh, no. Don't worry, I've only been here for 5 or 10 minutes. I'm an early bird, I suppose." he responded to her, noticing her eyes dart to and fro as though she was expecting someone else. Al was a bit confused by that, but he played it off. Perhaps she had just seen someone or something behind him. "You've seriously never had French food before? You've been missing out on a lot, mademoiselle!" the blond man exclaimed, adding a pseudo-French accent to his last sentence. He quickly opened the door for her, and ushered her inside.

The restaurant's aesthetic was very authentic inside, very much resembling the Parisian eateries he had been to in his time in France. The floor consisted of black-and-white tiles, the ceiling, a nice cream color, was adorned with many lights, and the walls were a mahogany brown. If Alban didn't know better, this place could be mistaken for being a real French diner. Their hostess, a young Japanese woman, greeted them with a curt bow. "I have a reservation under the name Voclain for 9:35. There's 2 of us." Alban told the hostess. Checking the list over, the woman quickly found his name. "Right this way please." she told them, now holding two menus in her hand.

They were led to a private booth in the corner of the restaurant, away from the prying eyes of the public. A single flickering candle was sat in the middle of the table, its small flame dancing to its own beat. Fortunately, there weren't too many people eating here this late at night on a Sunday, so the restaurant felt relatively exclusive and quiet. As they sat down, their waiter came over. "What can I get you two to drink?" he asked them. Al thought for a moment, rubbing his chin. "Can I get a bottle of red wine and two glasses? And of course whatever she wants." the blond man requested, shooting a look at Shizuka. "If you want the true French experience, you'll need at least a glass of wine with your meal! It accentuates the taste."

Alban appeared to be entranced by this restaurant, a giddy smile on his face. "This place reminds me of home... It feels like forever ago." he uttered, his eyes sparkling in the light.

"The wine will be fine," Shizuka said to the waiter. Since she wasn't very experienced in this environment, she decided she'd simply go along with Alban's recommendations. Shizuka didn't drink often, she'd had sake a few times at formal events, and beer when she went on outings with her classmates, but never in great quantities. She had never had an alcoholic beverage that wasn't made from grains, sake being made from rice, and beer being made from barley or wheat, so wine made from grapes would definitely be a new experience for her.

However, the short walk from the entrance to their booth made Shizuka feel uneasy. Shizuka looked around one last time in a futile attempt to locate Alban's wife, but the size of the booth and the fact that the reservation was for two was evidence enough that it really was just going to be the two of them. "E-excuse me but..." Shizuka began feeling rather awkward, "I was looking forward to meeting your wife..."
Also, @Stern Algorithm Shou sent Shizuka a text about marking papers, hopefully she doesn't have too much fun!
;)

Whoops, I saw it but I forgot about it. I'll have it mentioned in my next post.
"Awesome. I'll see you then, Shizuka!" Alban expressed with delight. Lucille broke eye contact with the pink haired female to wave good bye to her new friend, a bright grin on her face. "Bye, Shizuzuuu!" With that, they let Shizuka get back to work and strode back to their table. Al took 2500 yen from his black wallet, inscribed with "軸" ("Axis"), and placed it on the table, enough to cover their purchases plus a decent tip for both their waitress and the magician. Before he could usher his daughter out the door though, Lucille ran over to the pink haired woman and hugged her.

Chuckling to herself, Amity found it adorable Lucille was butchering her lyrics, "Close enough". This song wasn't her greatest hit but it definitely was an energetic one, she glanced at Copen only to see him looking at her...very intently. Nervous now, she stood up and placed 23,000 yen on table. "Oh look at the time... I should get going..." She gave Copen a wave and stuck out her tongue in a cute fashion, and promptly started towards the door.

Shizuka bid the father and daughter farewell and took the money back to the register, writing down how much was in excess of the actual bill; an amount that would be tallied up at the end of the day and distributed among all waitresses, and now, magicians. But when she picked up Amity's money, here eyes widened. This must be a mistake, but Amity ran out of the building and got in a car faster than Shizuka could call her back. Shizuka consulted the barista about what should be done, but he merely chuckled to himself and told Shizuka to leave it be and simply be grateful for her customer's generosity, the barista having seen past Amity's disguise and being well aware of the extravagant spending habits of the rich and famous.

When Shizuka left, she took her allotted share of the accumulated tips of the day, while a good portion remained for Zac.

-Sunday, 9:29pm-

Alban stood underneath the awning of Le Bistro, the French restaurant on Shine Junction that he was treating Shizuka to. Both of his black gloved hands hung beside him, while he faced the darkened sky. He longed for a moonlit night, yet the dreary, overcast skies denied him one of his favorite things in the world. His cheery 4 year old daughter was nowhere to be seen, as his mother had come by earlier in the day to pick Lucille up. Grandmothers needed to spend time with their granddaughters after all. Tonight was a casual outing with a new acquaintance, one that his mother was especially excited to hear about.

'Al! You're going on a date with someone?! I am SO happy for y'all!' the distinct Southern American accent of his mom popped into his head.

Alban didn't really consider this a date though. He barely knew Shizuka, although he did think she was rather attractive. However, looks weren't the basis of what he was attracted to. He needed someone who could help him raise his daughter, someone who was supportive, accepting, and compassionate. Tonight wasn't going to be about romanticizing a lady, it was going to be about having fun and showing her his gratuity. He glanced down at the clothes he had changed into. A nice, brown pea jacket with a white dress shirt and dark blue tie underneath. He stuck with jeans to keep it casual. It was nothing fancy, but he looked decent at least.

His gloved hands reached into his jacket pocket and brought out his modestly sized smart phone. A press of the side button and the bright illumination hit his eyes. 9:30 the phone's clock read. Almost time to start heading inside. After all, he had made reservations for 9:35 just in case one of them ran a little late. It was always good to be prepared, he thought. Pocketing his phone, he looked both ways down the street, searching for Shizuka. He had no doubt she'd be here soon though.

Before arriving, Shizuka had gotten a text from Alban, saying that Lucille would be staying with her grandmother so it would be "just us two". The funny thing about the word 'us', is that the one being addressed can never be sure if 'us' included oneself or not, in this case, Shizuka assumed that it did not include herself, and referred to Alban and his wife. Wearing a raincoat and holding an umbrella, Shizuka arrived at Le Bistro. Seeing Alban, she quickened her pace until they were close enough to talk.

"I hope I didn't make you wait long," she said apologetically. Straightening up, Shizuka blinked in mild confusion, her eyes darting around Alban's head, her gaze peering over his shoulders, looking for the person she expected would be present. Shizuka decided to pay it no heed, 'Mrs. Alban' was probably waiting inside to get out of the rain. "Thank you so much for inviting me. I've never had French cuisine before. I'm really looking forward to it."
