Cassie sniffed in annoyance at Rebekah's retort but didn't reply. If the TV had been a CRT, no doubt the image would be experiencing fluctuations right about now. Cassie passive-aggressively got up from her seat, and sat back down on the other side of Jack-Jack, blocking his view of Rebekah and Mako. "So John," Cassie spoke to Jack-Jack, using his given name, "As supers, we need to learn how to use our powers responsibly, isn't that right, Mary?" She took a berry from Mary's basket, "Thanks for the berries, by the way." She gave the pair in the kitchen a side-eye, half-expecting something to explode.
Hey all!

So @The Kid Lantern mentioned me in a few previous spots. I've been taking the time to read through the OOC and IC, and I've finally caught up. Here is my character who is essentially a 'mutant' in the X-Men sense of the word in that she was simply born with her powers. She is essentially a Dr. Doom archetype, though with bits of Magneto (superhuman supremacist) and Iron Man (uses tech and works closely with the government).

Archetype: Advanced Techno/Evil Genius
Name: Fang Ai Ling (Eileen Fang)
Alias: Interference, or Dr. Fang
Age: 35
Powers: Eileen was born with the ability to control phenomena that exhibit mathematical wave behavior starting with sound and light, possibly getting into gravitational waves in the future. She uses technology to augment her abilities relying on harmonics. The light and sound is emitted from her body. She is also blessed with a very high intelligence and her personality gives her a certain degree of charisma.
  • Sound Wave Emission/Reception: Eileen can emit as well as absorb/hear audible sound as well as sound outside the audible range, allowing her to mimic voices, make herself completely silent, send out shockwaves, fire disorienting beams of ultrasound, produce the brown note, have superhearing, tell when people are lying, etc.
  • EM Wave Emission/Reception: Eileen can emit and absorb/see visible light as well as light outside the visible spectrum allowing her to fire microwaves, create flashbangs, camouflage, have x-ray vision, night-vision, etc.
  • Gravitic Wave Emission/Reception: Not yet.
Equipment:
  • Power suit: Provides minor protection, mainly used to focus or augment her sound and light abilities, gives her control of her 'locusts'.
  • Surveillance Swarm: a swarm of microrobot drones in the form of beetles/locusts used mainly for spying and eavesdropping, though Eileen can also use them offensively by laying them around in intricate patterns that amplify the harmonics of an area, augmenting her powers.
  • Blast Bludgeon: a long, bat-like triangular rod that functions like a tuning fork. Eileen uses this to triangulate the harmonic frequencies of objects she strikes with it. After several strikes, she is able to determine the vibrational frequency that is most destructive to the particular material she is striking. She already knows what frequency works best for concrete and bone-through-flesh.
Weaknesses: Her power is purely offensive, her body has typical human frailty. Her armor protects her somewhat, but isn't that strong, and cannot withstand a direct punch from someone with 'peak physical condition'. Without her suit, her power is also extremely unfocused due to waves' natural behavior to dissipate in all directions and losing power as a function of distance. Her most powerful abilities also often requires specific conditions for maximum effect, namely the creation of acoustic/harmonic zones with the aid of her swarm.
Alignment: Villain, STRIKE Chief of R&D, Agent of STRIKE
Personality: Pleasant, bookworm, Machiavellian, curious, idealistic. Or: Sweetest. Supervillain. You. Ever. Met.
Appearance:
BRIEF Bio: Eileen went through her life as a model citizen. Eileen was obedient and went through life without incident. In secret, Eileen practiced her abilities; the more she learned about the scientific and mathematical properties of light and sound, the more powerful she became, able to emit anything on the electromagnetic spectrum, and all frequencies of sound, especially the inaudible frequencies. Her intellect allowed her to achieve a high profile academic career doing research for the government. Her research is in optronics: using photons instead of electrons for data storage and transfer. To harness light in this way, Eileen relies on crystals, which she has an intuitive understanding of thanks to her powers; she uses light and sound to deduce the refractive and acoustic properties of crystals before she creates devices to harness them. Optronics will be significantly faster and more powerful than electronics, so Eileen plans to make artificial intelligence based on optronic hardware. Mostly her work is in weapons development, creating efficient laser weapons and sensor technology for the military. As a government researcher, she decided to risk letting her mutant side show little by little because she wanted more from life. Slowly she revealed herself, showing off her harmless abilities, and figuring out the best and safest way to be a mutant working in the government. It wasn't long before the 'proper authorities' in the form of STRIKE came to acquire her. She leveraged her research position and her overall compliant nature and then she started demonstrating the more 'dangerous' applications of her abilities in order to get noticed, pretending that she had 'only recently' figured out these abilities in order to become a government-sanctioned superpowered individual. She has weaseled her way into STRIKE, becoming the head of their R&D department. Her understanding of light and sound as well as her computer science understanding has become a vital part of STRIKE's surveillance of superpowered individuals, or as Eileen likes to say, "I AM the Police-State". She has setup her own private lab within STRIKE HQ that people call the 'Recording Room'. Early in her life, due to her intelligence, she saw the governments of the world as inherently broken, but she did not succumb to angst and rebellion. She sees super-powered individuals as the catalyst necessary to subjugate the old conflicting governments and create a new united utopia for Earth; an Earth that can stand toe-to-toe with the allies and enemies in the galaxy and the universe at large. Her final ambition is to establish a Star Trek-esque United Federation of Planets, with Earth at the center, securing a place for Earth in the universe. Her intentions are pure, but her methods may be a little extreme as she has no qualms with 'sterilizing', cleansing or purging the world of the 'old order' as she sees necessary.
Storylines:
  • Cheating STRIKE and the government of resources
  • Creating the AI being, Mythos Biblios Omniac
  • Assembling a team of villains
  • Attempting world domination
Notes:
  • She wants to recruit both villains and heroes to her cause, since she sees 'villains' and 'heroes' as labels the world uses to divide supers from helping each other to greatness.
  • Eileen will slowly attempt to accumulate things that are useful to her. Her hunger for power and knowledge is insatiable: if there is easy-to-use magic, she will attempt to infuse it into her inventions; if there is alien tech, she will reverse engineer it and incorporate it into her designs. She will cannibalize her surroundings to become more powerful. If STRIKE has a 'secret' vault, that's what she will rob right before going rogue.

Here's something happy~

And here's something a little more...contradictory and noisy~
Hey, I might be interested in this, but jumping into an RP halfway is really, really not my style. Still, I can see that the IC is only two pages long, so story-wise, It doesn't initially look like you guys have gotten very far (I haven't read it yet, FYI), but the OOC is over 20 pages. It will take quite a bit of time for me to read through everything, but I'm willing to be in this for the long haul.

Now this is before having read anything yet, but I'd like to make a Advanced Techno/Evil Genius, basically, my version of Dr. Doom. I don't know what the current roster is (if there are too many heroes, too many villains, etc.), but my character works best in a team and is very generous with the technology they develop, like Iron Man giving Spider Man the Iron Spider suit, my character will attempt to buff up their allies, and attempt to create a team of villains. I guess one issue is, I want my character to start out as someone in the government as a 'hero', they're trying to gain access to databases of super-powered individuals as well as research funding. If possible, my character will use funds to create an artificially intelligent being (Omniac, a second character who would essentially be a technology elemental). I don't know if I want the other players knowing my character actually has ambitions of world domination, although I suppose that won't be a problem as long as people don't metagame.

Zhou Yu took some mild offense at being knighted by Crocus due to the fact that his undying loyalty was to his lord Emperor Sun Quan of Wu, but he kept his displeasure to himself.

When Crocus touched his shoulders he felt an unnatural surge, and a sudden influx of knowledge of what power he had been granted, noting that they were thematically apt, evoking the greatest, most successful battle of his life.

The next few seconds were absolutely stunning as he felt himself be whisked through darkness, and bursting out into the heavens, coming to a stop after the words and music had ended. Zhou Yu shook his head a bit to reorient himself and assess his surroundings. Him and his companions have had a change of clothes. They were in a metal house and it was nighttime outside with a splendid view of the moon. The funny thing about how the human brain processes large things like size and distance is that it doesn't. He couldn't tell initially that they were getting any closer to the moon-like object. Something unsettled him though; he wondered why he could not see the horizon outside the window. The Heavens crept downwards with no Earth in sight, but that was preposterous, the duality of Heaven and Earth was eternal since the Mythical Pang Gu split the primordial egg that floated in the void, thus creating the world. A stifled panic seized Zhou Yu, brought on by the thought that he was currently floating in that primordial emptiness before the creation of the world. To ignore this panic, he put on a smile and decided to introduce himself.

"Well, I suppose we should explore this house and look for this 'princess' our 'god of chaos' mentioned, but first, I don't think I've properly introduced myself. I am General Zhou Yu, style name: GongJin, of the Kingdom of Wu, ruled by the wise and benevolent Sun Quan." He picked the strange handle from his belt and began fiddling with it while waiting for his undead compatriots to give their names and statuses, though he already knew the skeleton was called 'Benny'.
Cassie looked over to Rebekah and Mako. "You know," Cassie said, using her power to project her voice, "you shouldn't recklessly test your abilities in public spaces. As an example to other supers, we should only try the limits of our powers in government-regulated testing facilities." While the words themselves may be condescending, she spoke in an instructive way, seeing herself as the role-model, the paragon to these impressionable youth (though Mako wasn't much younger than herself); youth who had only known and looked up to heroes like Mr. Incredible, who was hardly the ideal Cassie felt these girls should be striving towards.
@DFTBA Yeah, just another nudge more. Truly, she wants to try it out and see if she can do it, but she also knows better then to try it out on someone else's stuff, let alone these people's stuff!

Cassie's gonna be the party pooper here.
Zhou Yu took deep breaths as he tried to come to terms with what he was seeing. Calming himself, he decided that he'd take everything in stride; after all, the Chinese pantheon had many gods, who's to say this wasn't one of them? Having regained his composure somewhat, Zhou took on a slightly smug attitude. "So we're here to entertain you? What, pray tell, can a humble strategist like myself do to humor the God of Chaos?"
I'll get a post up tomorrow.
Glad to see this has revitalized. I'll probably get a post up tomorrow.
