Upon meeting her, you can tell that Ria is bubbly and energetic. She's the outgoing type, and will happily be friends with just about anyone. Optimistic as they come, Ria does her best to always see the good in whatever situation has been presented. Being the shining light in the room can get on people's nerves from time to time, but Ria tries to spread positivity wherever she goes. Most people who meet Ria for a few brief moments find her to be a very warm presence. While warm and inviting, Ria is also sharp tongued, passive aggressive, and just as judgmental as any southern grandmother. A sucker for gossip, Ria has been caught eavesdropping on more than her fair share of conversations. (Thank goodness she's gotten better at sneaking around over the years). But despite her faults, make no mistake that Ria is a loyal friend - and when she wants, the young woman can have very good intentions. Charismatic and nearly always up to no good, Ria seems to have a specialty when it comes to getting information from people. No matter the mask she’s wearing, Ria’s facial expressions always tell on her when it comes to her true emotions. The young woman is headstrong, determined, and - above all - ambitious. Ria has big dreams, and nothing or no one stands in her way when it comes to accomplishing her goals. A natural leader, Ria strives to be in positions of power and control. B I O G R A P H Y What do you get when you cross a good southern woman and a man with strong political ambitions? A surprisingly good love story. Lillian Isabelle James had started her acting career in her early childhood, and quickly won the hearts of America. Deciding to take a break from the hustle and bustle that was Hollywood, Lilly (as she was called) decided to go to college in New York. It was here she would meet Alexander Thorpe - a dashing young man who was the heir to a multi billion dollar oil and gas company, known as Thorpe Industries. He would also go on to be a Senator for the State of California. Shortly after graduating college, Lilly and Alex moved back to Georgia, and began to start a life for themselves there. Lillian found out she was pregnant shortly after her acting career started back up, and her husbands political career was taking off. The announcement didn't come at the best time, but was a welcomed one, nonetheless. Their first born child would be their son Lucas, and they would decide to adopt a new born girl, Ria, nearly a year and a half later. Life for the Thorpe siblings was easy, aside from the scandals that people tried to throw at their parents' careers. While Alex spent most of his time in the home state of California focusing on his political career, Lilly and the kids moved back to Georgia where Lilly grew up. The southern belle wanted to try and give her children as much of a normal life as possible - but when your mother is an actress, your father a senator, and your grandparents owning one of the largest equestrian centers in the country - things get complicated. The papers tried to paint Lilly and Alex's marriage as a sham. How could two people be in love and live on two different sides of the country? The answer could be found in the hundreds of love letters that they wrote to each other - they had found their soulmate. Thousands were spent on plane tickets as they visited each other between campaign rallies and between scene shooting schedules. Both of Ria's parents wanted what was best for their children, sending them to private schools their whole lives. Whatever they wanted, their parents gave them. For Ria, most of those things were ponies, jewelry, and the prettiest dresses a girl could ever ask for. While their mother wanted them to have a simple life, she wasn't going to let them be underachievers, either. Lilly wanted to set her children up for success. And so it began. Ria was thrown into piano lessons at age four. Ballet lessons at age five, though she pitched an absolute fit until her mother finally gave up when Ria was six. Lilly tried to get her daughter into a wide range of hobbies, but the only thing that ever came to Ria naturally was horseback riding. From there, she learned to barrel race, and how to even jump horses. Growing up, Ria participated in high level competitions and quite a handful of local rodeo shows. While her mother demanded excellence in Ria's competitions, she also refused to let her daughter slack off in her studies. Anything lower than a B+ and you were punished. For Ria, that meant no technology and no competitions. Horse riding was - and is - everything to Ria, so she was sure to keep her grades up. Through all of these lessons, and a ton of trial and error - Lilly began to notice things about her daughter. How she stared off and watched things in the distance, how she was drawn to plant life, and more importantly - how she would just never sit still. Any of Lilly’s concerns were always put to rest when people would tell her that Ria was acting just like any other child, yet something continued to tell her that things weren’t right. Nonetheless, Lilly did her best to give her children the best life that she could. The picture perfect family that Lilly had built was ruined when Ria was 12, and her brother was 13. Their father had finally landed himself a spot in the Senate, and the TV show that their mother starred in had just been renewed for a third season. Things were amazing for the Thorpe clan until Lilly was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. Alexander decided that it was best for his family to move to California in order to keep up with his political campaign, and for the better doctors for Lilly. Another incentive was that the children could go to his alma mater, Marble Heights - a boarding school - to continue their education. By the time that Ria was 13, and Lucas was 14, their mother passed away. Ria was a freshman at the time, and Lucas a sophomore. Their grades suffered, going from straight A's to mostly C's. Their mother was no longer around to keep them in line, and their father was to heart broken to care. Besides, C's were still plenty acceptable. The Thorpe siblings were enrolled at Marble Heights, and their father finally bought a house in DC, where he now spends most of his time. The second that Ria turned thirteen, more and more odd things started to happen. Strange creatures attacked, plants acted even more weirdly around her. It wouldn’t be until the week before her fourteenth birthday that Ria would be told the truth about her life. While in the common hall of the school, Ria was approached by a classmate - one that she had never spoken to, but recognized from Geometry, nonetheless. The young man spoke to Ria in a hushed tone, trying his hardest to get Ria to come with him. The longer the two of them stood in the school, the more and more anxious Ria could tell that the young man was getting. Reluctantly, Ria followed him outside of the school. Once outside, Ria was attacked by a Cyclops and knocked to the ground. The unnamed classmate did his best to try and defend Ria, but was ultimately backhanded by the Cyclops and knocked unconscious. This sent a wave of rage and fear through Ria, causing roots from beneath the ground to break through and wrap the Cyclops whole. Once she had dealt with the threat, Ria ran to the unknown boy's side, doing her best to wake him up. Once he had woken up, he explained everything to Ria - who was in a state of shock. Ria’s first reaction was denial. Mythology wasn’t real. Gods and monsters? No. Absolutely not. None of this made sense. But then it did. Ria’s father was too busy with work. A simple email to let him know she was ‘changing schools’ was all of the update that Alexander needed to know about his daughter's life. Ria did her best to explain things to Lucas, but she ultimately had to end up telling him the same lie that she had told their father. Upon arriving at CHB, Ria was claimed almost immediately at the campfire the night of her arrival. Ria has been proud to call the Demeter cabin her home ever since. Sign up sheets to be on the paper committee can be found by the Mess Hall Entrance. Please fill them out and return them to the empty bin, found beside the applications. Ria will be in touch. 🍄 Ria is the Head of the Paper Committee, and oversee's assignments. Ria ultimately has the final say on what get's published. The paper mostly consists of the coverage of the camp activities, camper interviews, a small comics section, and the crossword. There is a section of the paper dedicated to "Camper News" - Stories from the week that involved - well - campers. Each edition of the paper will be put in each of the cabins mailboxes each Friday morning at 8 AM. 30 Editions will be made for each cabin. 🍄 The Paper Committee meets on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 4 PM until 6 PM. Assignments are due each Wednesday, and that is the meeting in which the paper will go through the final check. Assignments will also be given out each Wednesday. The committee will meet at the Library. W E A P O N S 🍄 Bow and arrows disguised as bracelet. A B I L I T I E S ABILITY: Chlorokinesis: The ability to control plants. 🍄 Ria has the ability to identify any plant upon the moment she touches it. Upon touching a plant, Ria will know it's scientific name, common name, and what affects it will have on the human body. 🍄 Ria also has the ability to control plants. Flowers, vines, fruit and veggie plants, etc. bend to her will. She can also control trees, but only if they are thirty feet or shorter. Ria can cause a plant to grow super fast, can use their branches as weapons, cause the fruit to fly off of a bush, etc. Ria can also take life just as fast as she can give it, and can cause plants to shrivel up and die upon contact. 🍄 Ria has the ability to summon vines to grow from ground. These vines grow at a half a foot per second, and can grow up to ten feet tall. ABILITY: Geokinesis: The ability to control the Earth. 🍄 Can identify different rocks and gems upon contact. 🍄 Ria can levitate and throw rocks. The largest rock that she can control is two feet long and two feet wide. She can control up to three rocks at a time. ABILITY: 🍄 While Ria cannot control the temperature like her mother, Ria is nearly unaffected by temperature. She is not affected by the cold unless it drops to zero or below, and she is not affected by hot temperatures unless it is 110 or above. O T H E R
