Bio

I have been writing as a hobby for longer than you have been alive. I have been a regular member and roleplayer of no less than fourteen different online forums during that time (including the old RPG), five six eight of which no longer exist.

I was previously a regular on the Homestuck forums, but I became so sick of thread turnover there that I asked around and eventually found the Guild. Since joining, I have exclusively only participated in Advanced RPs. Before Mahz gave NRPs their own subforum, I used to be an NRP regular in the Advanced Subforum. I am a Guildfall survivor, and know/regularly write with a few others.

If you ask anybody who has written with me in previous RPs, they should tell you that I have a generally open schedule, I post regularly and in a timely fashion, and I never drop an RP once I join unless the thread dies. Some of them may tell you that I have extensive expertise within the realms of Biology, Psychology, and Physics, which I will make no effort to validate since there is no way I can provide hard proof of aforementioned alleged expertise to anybody over the internet (though I am happy to try and answer any questions you send my way).

My favorite fandom is the Myst franchise, which seemingly nobody other than me has ever heard of.

I was a Contest Moderator for the Writing Contests Subforum for just a little bit over two years. I wrote the Moderation Policy for that subforum and I ran a contest called the Twelve Labours; you can still go there and see all of them and the entries people wrote for them in the Contests Section and the Victory Archives.

I have been quadruple secret banned from the guild discord. That is not a joke.

@AbysmalDemon, your primary species are Humans, correct? You might want to illustrate that point more clearly. You all but imply it in the culture section, but never come right out and say it. As well, the amount of detail across the application is lacking to an extent where I'm having trouble perceiving the faction as a whole. I have no idea how large it is, what it's agenda is, how it's organized, etcetera. In general, the entire sheet is lacking a great deal of detail normally expected of advanced applications. I'll accept it as a work in progress, but until it's more fleshed out I cannot approve it.

Additionally, I'm not entirely sure I understand the progression of events described in your Governance section. The True Vacuum has only existed for four weeks, but you imply that an entirely new faction had time to be founded, splinter, reunited by a charismatic general, fall apart again once he died, and then be conquered. Which probably /could/ be squeezed into four weeks, I just wanted to make sure you knew.

Checking it out now.

In the meantime: @MonkeyPants has been accepted.
@Eschatologist has been approved and added to the OP.

Also: The OP has been updated to include the chatzy link. I only mentioned it and forgot to include the actual link. Silly me.
How much time has passed since the "True Vacuum" catastrophe?
What were the effects?
Should we need to account for any damage?

If the catastrophe happened decades or a century ago then I may try to make a "civilization" as an interstellar trade company called the White Interstellar Corporations.

We will say for the sake of drama that the Catastrophe happened exactly four weeks ago at the start of the RP - which gives everyone a 40,000 lightyear scouting umbrella if they moved immediately.

The effects are stated in the premise, but here's a reiteration of them:

-All structures in the universe - galaxies, star clusters, nebulas, star systems etcetera - have had their constituent parts randomly redistributed throughout the True Vacuum universe. This means that no galaxies star clusters, or nebulas currently exist. Supernova remnants (which can be like nebulas) remain, so expect a few of those littered around. Singularities and galactic cores have also been displaced but remain intact. Galactic Gamma Bubbles also remain intact, meaning there may exist large regions of the True Vacuum which are impassable (introducing a natural barriers aspect which would normally not be present). Thankfully for everyone, RPJs did not remain intact, and so there's no need to worry about being obliterated by those.

-The exceptions to the above: Your civilizations. Every star system and planet controlled by your nations were lifted out of the False Vacuum universe cookie-cutter style (nobody knows why). All your systems and territory remains in the same configuration in terms of distances and such. However, all surrounding territory is completely unfamiliar, composed of utterly alien star systems with planets and stars completely unknown to you.

Damage that could have occurred to your nation includes the loss of trade routes and alliances, the loss of territories you controlled in name (plantations and the like), and incidental damage from a lot of planets and stars either be closer or further away from your own star systems (imagine if a new star appeared within 70,000 AU of Sol, or if a couple of new rogue planets hurtled into the system). However, it would not be unreasonable to say that apart from displacement shock and loss of external assets, the nations did not receive any major infrastructural damage unless they were a large Trade federation or the like.
is there still room for another this looks very interesting

We are still open and accepting. Feel perfectly free to submit an application or ask questions.
@TerminalPinging only works with the first post.
Edited in users won't receive an alert. I didn't receive one now so I suppose you added the names later.
So maybe you can try it again.

Thank you for informing me. I'll keep that in mind. Removed the pings from the previous post and replacing them here.

Pinging everyone who expressed interest (and ASTA) just to let them know.

@Sigma, @TheSovereignGrave, @Skylar, @Facepunch, @MetalLover, @Eschatologist, @Willy Vereb, @The Grey Warden, @Monkeypants, @ASTA, @Nilesapa.
@Nilesapa, having reviewed your sheet it seems sufficiently detailed, although it could probably be better organized. Keep working on it, but consider yourself approved - you're cleared to post once the IC goes live (and your name has been added to the active roster in the OP).
What are the methods of power generation in this setting and how easy is it to disperse heat?

Anything you'd like. You can use fusion, antimatter, or even straight up alenium. This is a soft science RP, so I'm not going to enforce you to use scientifically rigid power sources.

Same goes for heat dispersion, although if you're looking for actual advice on the matter: In Mass Effect, heat is stored in lithium capacitors along the inner hull of the ship. Ships regularly stop inside atmospheres and discharge built-up heat by converting it into electrical discharge. Personally, I prefer to deal with it simply by not having large active crews and using base radiation to shed heat before it starts to interfere with integral components. One other roleplayer I know managed to work out a gas-exchange/filtration system that recycled internal atmosphere into thruster propellant.

Use your imagination.
No, I will accept works in progress as long as there is at least some evidence that some effort was invested in the sheet. If you have a bunch of completely fleshed out sections and two or three that are works in progress, that will be sufficient. I'll go ahead and review the Sanctum for you, give me a few minutes.
OOC is up. Go crazy.
