The masked night stood motionless for a second, the only movement being the slight rise and fall of his shoulders with every breath. Following the pause he rolled one shoulder to move his cloak clear of his swords handle. When he spoke his voice echoed strangely behind the metal mask, flat and lifeless.

"I am the Tyrant Sword. I fight for any worthy cause that I am paid for. But..."

The knight paused in thought as strange sounds were heard around him. Another world indeed. With his left hand he bared a hands width of steel for a brief pause and let it slide back into it's sheath. His head inclined to face the man opposite him.

"I don't know enough to accept a contract right now. Perhaps you could make this offer another time."

@Dezuel
Apologies for the delay. Been a little busy but things are clearing up now.

As the giant birds attacked she dove into cover, just as quickly leaving again under a cloak of shadow. A shot from her crossbow did little but startle one of them as it sailed wide of it's target. Szeren hung the weapon on its sling instead of reloading. Such a light crossbow wouldn't have the range that was needed here unless the Roc was already diving towards her.

Instead she slowed her pace, moving from cover to cover through interconnected shadows until she reached the group. Her cloak faded until she was just recognizable from close by.

It looked like a plan was in progress. She reloaded the crossbow and moved to stand against the shadowed wall of a building, blending in with a practiced ease born of necessity. With the weapon shouldered, her eyes scanned the sky as the others moved.

The hopelessly paranoid knight was in motion before the first flight of arrows had reached the formation. His bad leg was already slipped from the stirrup and he, somewhat less skillfully than he might have hoped, rolled from the saddle to land on the ground in a half crouch. He drew his blade and cast about with his eyes. Some feeling or premonition had set his nerves on edge.

The strange weight in his sword, was it a trick of his mind and the tiresome days on the road or something else.

A heartbeat later his horse screamed in pain and bolted, leaving him open. Indrau swore and made for the safety of his fellow knights.

"I'm sure he does a lot of venting, lest he explode."

Suddenly they were under attack. Salz pivoted on the spot, thrusting her burden of children between herself and the wagon. Such a large target couldn't possible come through a volley unscathed however. As a couple bounced harmlessly off of her armour a single one pierced the chain over her shoulder. With a vicious snarl she snapped the shaft near the head between two fingers and reached up into the wagon for her spear, her own height worth of oak as large around as a mans wrist and topped with a slender leaf shaped head as long as her hand.

"Get under the wagon and stay there."

Now she pulled off the heavy canvas cover and used it to cover at least one side of the wagon. Spear in hand she stood over the Sunfield twins.

I like

@TheFake I believe that the one who messed up the numbers was @drewccapp tho..? You're correcting the wrong person.

And I also made the same remark a few posts ago anyway...

Woops, I thought that @vancexentan was using the quote to defend the stats in some way. Anyway, it's not like there's a need for actual numbers anyway.
