Today's the first time in a long time that I've felt empty. Not even sad or tired, just empty. This quarantine is getting to me more than I thought.

@Jessica Bunny: You live in America! College is optional (and expensive) and around you is opportunity. I believe you can make it!

"It's nice to meet you, Nathan. And I hope so to." Karen shook Nathan's hand. "I'll admit that I am eager to get to know new people, but also equally eager for the lessons to start." When Nathan asked about trying out for the Quidditch team, and Charlyn asking about positions, Karen nodded and said: "Yes I have, actually. I was considering trying out as a Chaser or Seeker. I'm not really sure which, but I have a whole year to decide."

Karen began picking out a serving of every morsel of food on the table. From the way she looked and acted, the amount of food she had on her plate was unexpected - it was almost enough for three people. Before digging in, she turned to Charlyn. "I think the tryouts are usually announced a week or two after the first day of classes, but it shouldn't matter to us yet. First years aren't allowed to participate, apparently."
Pica woke up. Then fell asleep. Then woke up again and realized it was nearing midday - almost 1:00. And that was when she really woke up. In a mad scramble of limbs, Pica jumped out of the bed, blanket still draped over her and hair a mess.

"Oh no," she squeaked as she threw the blanket over her and rushed to put on clothes. She grabbed the paper she had acquired from the lady a day ago. Thankfully, a friend of hers new how to read and write, so she got him to fill it out for her. Her hair combed down and tied by a single ribbon, Pica put on her most presentable outfit - a plain wool cloak and brown dress tunic. She rushed back to the inn, hoping that she would reach there in time.

After a good while of running, Pica finally arrived. Much to her relief, it seemed the lady was still there, and surrounded by quite the crowd.

"A-ah! Excuse me, ah, this is my paper. I, uh, I don't know how to read or write, but I got a friend of mine to do it for me, if it's okay!" she announced rather loudly as she placed the paper down on the table in front of the woman.

"O-oh, and please ignore that last part please! I was rambling when I asked my friend to write that. I was rather nervous and excited you see," she said, a little red in the face. She remained standing, shuffling her feet while waiting for a reply.
@Aisling CS for dragon and rider. Can be edited if you wish, and if necessary they don't have to be a pair.

Name: Pica
Age: 15
Gender: Female
Cave: 7

Personality:
Soft spoken, caring and self-sacrificing. Pica is a martyr through and through, to the point that her life is constantly in danger because of the actions she chooses to take in the service of other people. Her emphatic nature means she is sensitive to the feelings of others, and can easily get affected by their feelings as if it were her own. Despite these traits, however, she is not naive or gullible. She knows full well that her kindness can be taken advantage of, but feels that so long as she is the only one victimized, then there is nothing wrong with it.

Looks: A small, fragile-looking girl. She stands just an inch or two above 5ft. Pica has straight black hair that reaches below her shoulders. She has large, clear, grey-green eyes with long and thin eyebrows. Her skin is pale and easily bruised and sensitive to sunlight.

What you personally have with you: Tea herbs, cooking utensils, and a windpipe.

Dragonling name: Dylin
Gender: Male
Species: Purity Dragon

Personality:
Sadistic, impertinent, snarky, and apathetic; there are only two things that Dylin really cares about: Himself, and his rider. Everything else are either toys for his enjoyment, food, unimportant, or else beneath his notice. Dylin is unwavering in his loyal and will absolutely not stand for any slights or threats to his rider. Not really fond of working hard, but will put his best claw forward if needed. Absolutely uncontrollable when his rider is not around. Despite his mean and bullying nature, he is deeply intelligent and cunning, making for a terrible combination.
Dylin is unexpectedly brave and steadfast to the few values he has; he will not bow down to power, and neither will he be influenced or riches or promises to power, and is not afraid to fight to the death.

Looks:

Hatchling Abilities:
1.) Small Flame
2.) Telepathy
3.) Mimic

Karen nodded slowly. "That's alright. I suppose I'm unused to interacting with anybody but adults, so I had gotten used to introducing myself like this." It was true. Most of the time she had met a new person, it was either someone who had come to mourn for her parents, or else came for their research. As much as she despised the latter, however, both had to be met with respect. Her parents would expect no less from her.

Before she could continue talking any further, the Headmistress - McGonagall, if Karen recalled correctly - called everyone out to be sorted. She pulled out the famous Sorting Hat, an item Hogwarts had in its possession for thousands of years, which had been sorting the countless students that had passed through its halls. Karen stared at the ragged thing and swallowed. It was such a small, old artifact, and yet, the influence it held over their future was staggering.

They lined up and one-by-one, they were called to the the stand like criminals for a hanging.

Okay, that was a bad comparison, thought Karen dryly.

At last, it was her turn. Once the hat was upon her head - though it would be more accurate to say it had swallowed it - she couldn't help but grimace on the hats commentary on her character. She didn't need to hear that, especially not from a hat. She breathed a sigh of relief once her sorting was finished, and stepped off the podium. She elatedly joined her place at the table of the cheering Ravenclaws.

She frowned when she hear Bishop's sorting into Hufflepuff. She was hoping they'd be in the same House. No matter, she thought, she would have plenty of time to spend with him after classes.

Karen faced her new Housmates with a polite smile. "Hello Callum, everyone," she began, ready to introduce herself using her whole name once again, before Brynn's advice came to mind. "I'm Karen, it's a pleasure."
@Cinderella Man are you still in?
@LordofthePies, @KahleenCuthald, @Classpet, @Weird Tales

Karen paused and her arm went down. Her effort to get Bishop's attention had worked, but also had the unintended consequence of gaining the attentions of the people around him. She decided to go join them as she was invited, but firstly she would rejoin with Bishop.

The girl listened as her friend gave her an surprise but nonetheless interesting debriefing on the different characters that composed the little group. A blood purist, an apathetic bystander, and a cheery person. Quite a gathering of personalities, she thought wryly. Well, it was not as if it was her business how they chose to act, so long as she was unaffected.

"Ha ha, I'll be sure to follow your advice then," she laughed lightly in response to Bishops advice, but nevertheless considered his words seriously, because no less than a second of him finishing, Charlyn, the - Karen presumed - aforementioned 'Bubbly One' began speaking with him in a quick, excited manner, though it seemed she was at least attempting to hold back. "I see that you're a bit busy as of the moment. Let's talk some more later." While Karen waited for Bishop to finish speaking with her, she turned to the girl that had waved her over.

"Hello, I'm Karen Diana Irving McGrave. It's a pleasure to meet you," she greeted with a neat lilt in her voice, lifting the hems of her robes and bowing her head for a small curtsy. The introduction was given to the girl, but practically was meant for all of them in the group.

She turned to Isaak. "It's a given that those raised in the magical world know about Quidditch I think," she replied, tilting her head slightly. "Though to give a straight answer: Yes, I know what Quidditch is, and I consider myself as a fairly decent player." Of course, this was going by her observations on professional players she had watched and how she evaluated herself next to them. She did not consider herself anywhere near their level of skill, but felt as though she could emulate their ability enough that it was satisfactory. Perhaps time in Hogwarts would correct her estimation of her skill, but she considered that for later.
@Weird Tales Ha ha, well that depends on who's going to what house - imagine if we all inexplicably got stuck in Hufflepuff :D
