I asked that first question because both of the Canadian cities you have on the list already have CFL teams.

I know the basic rules, so I think I'm good on that front. Is this going to be pretty mechanics light?

Major mechanics are:
1. Managing the cap.
2. Managing facilities.
3. Managing your roster.
4. Some light playcalling each game.

That's it.
How did you decide where the teams would be located?

What kind of gridiron football does the PFL play? Do they compete with the NFL and CFL?

EDIT: Slightly tentatively interested.

randomly. PFL just uses very basic American Football rules: I admit I don't know enough about CFL except they have three downs?

If you know the basic positions and rules (forward progress, first downs, Quarterback throws the ball, Cornerback covers, etc) you're good to go.
How about these for Vancouver?

or

If I'm Anchorage can the joke be that none of my players like it there because it's so dark and cold?

These are the real questions.

I imagine that would be a real concern. You want to RSVP Anchorage?
american football, you say?

i'm down. can i take vancouver?

Sure. No problem. I'd like at least 8 people total so none of the teams are NPC's! If we get more that'd be nice. There will be tangible mechanics here but nothing crazy! Feel free to come up with a team name and logo if you'd like!
Welcome to the League

Due to the immense popularity of the National Football League, the expansion and competition of a spiritual successor to the American Football League was inevitable. Say hello to the PFL--Professional Football League. Starting small, with room to grow, the PFL will focus on smaller markets and underutilized geographies where love for the game is large but team presence is non-existent. Here is where you come in, as the general manager you'll build the facilities, hire the coaching staff and help shape a team to win the Sister of the Super Bowl, the MegaBowl. Among these facets: coaching, the draft, team philosophy, marketing and finances.

Given years of polling, eight new cities have been decided to host new PFL football teams. These teams have no identity, and in a rare--once in a lifetime opportunity--the PFL has decided to allow any team owner to create their own team, their own mascot, their own logo, their own identity. Divided into two conferences, Professional Conference North (PCN) and Professional Conference South (PCS), the following cities have been identified as ripe for expansion:

Professional Conference North
  • Vancouver, Canada -- Vancouver Leopards (Bee)
  • Anchorage, Alaska
  • Quebec City, Canada
  • Salt Lake City, Utah

Professional Conference South
  • San Antonio, Texas
  • Mexico City, Mexico
  • Santa Fe, New Mexico
  • Montgomery, Alabama

OOC: Hey all!

This is a nifty little idea I've had. If anyone likes any kind of sports management sims--this is a cool faction/team based RP that will be a bit lite on mechanics while allowing you guys to create a cool narrative and potential narrative in a fictional American football league. If I get 8 people interested in being the general manager of a football team, I'll take this OOC!

Fiscal Quarter 3 Update | August, 2090

Dividend Stocks
Some megacorporations, to incentivize investment, may pay out dividends in Fiscal Quarter 3 of every year their their investors. Dividends are a sum of money paid regularly (typically quarterly) by a company to its shareholders out of its profits (or reserves). These dividends are on a scale of one to five percent.

Every Public Megacorporation will, via IC post, decide whether their shares will pair out Dividends. If so, they will select between 1 and 5% to pay out. Paying out Dividends will increase the likelihood of Foreign Investors in buying their stocks. This also means in Fiscal Quarter 3 of every year, the MegaCorporation will need to pay out dividends to those investors.
