Chaos was born from the War in Heaven. The Chaos Gods draw strength from fear, destruction, pain, suffering, and disparity. However, in addition to this, they draw immense power from Faith. It was stated that during 'modern times' the Chaos Gods were drawing power from all religions, the faith of humans allowing them to tap into all human emotions. To an extent the faith of humans formed the consciousness of the Chaos Gods, who emerged from the mere Chaos that had existed before around the Dark Ages. Even the peaceful and friendly religions were feeding their power, and the Emperor, realizing this, sought to spread atheism. But it was only after the Apocalypse that he made his presence actively known, forming the Thunder Warriors and actively guiding humanity on it's path to prosperity.

Keeping people informed about Chaos is a double-edged blade. Psykers are like a beacon to Daemon, but those unaware of the existence of Daemon are warded by their ignorance, to an extent. Psykers who are aware of Chaos gain the ability to perceive it, however, and in turn can be more easily affected by it. Furthermore, it vastly increases the risk that someone would call out to the Chaos Gods. While to an objective observer they are clearly beings of pure evil, to someone with limited knowledge they might seem close to benign, and the Chaos Gods have often granted gifts or boons to mortals in exchange for worship. Except Nurgle, because he considers diseases gifts, so nobody likes him.

Also, the Emperor wanted to leave Interex alone. It was Horus who ordered the destruction of Interex, and used this event as a tool to assist in turning Magnus towards Chaos.

As a devoted 40K fan, I trump your mere wiki knowledge with obsessive research and owning many of the books.

The Emperor fought against Tyrants, declared all men and women equal, and enforced a fair and just set of laws in a postapocalyptic world. He was also a highly scientific man, abolishing things like the religious bias against homosexuality.

The Imperial Truth was important, because unlike with real-life concepts, deviating from the Imperial Truth literally creates space monsters. It's partially because of the general populace's deviation from the Imperial Truth that the Chaos Gods have the power they do.

The destruction of the Diasporex and Interex was a result of the extremist views being utilized by the Primarchs who would eventually fall to the side of Chaos. The Emperor was opposed to alien life, but he wished to control it instead of annihilating it.

The Imperium of Man under the Emperor's rule was a good place, it was only after his fall that it fell into a state of zealous extremism and constant warfare.
Might join this, not gonna app 40K, as it is brutally and unstoppable OP.

With a popping sound and a slight puff of smoke, Drac and Mithias appeared in the centre of the Theatre. As always the coffee lounge was filled with customers, a wide variety of figures from all over the multiverse coming to sample Bob's collection. Always in the centre of things was Bob himself, spinning and laughing as he casually multiplied, multiple forms taking orders and serving them across an expanse the size of a small city. The scents and sights were maddening, but the two weathered souls that had now made their way to this realm were well versed in the madness of Bob's domain, and would find it more nostalgic than stunning. Laughter and screams were aplenty here, and a chorus of unearthly musics tied the entire scene together.

Before Drac could take a step, one of Bob's many bodies appeared in front of him, smiling as he began to speak. Then, suddenly, he stopped, leaning down to stare Drac in the face. Every other Bob disappeared, as the baffled Chaos God inspected Drac's soul. Holding up a finger to shush Drac for a moment (comedic timing forcing him into silence) Bob pulled out a massive tome, bound in the still-living bodies of screaming unborn children. He flipped through the pages, scanning the vast list of names before finally coming to the one he'd been looking for. He seemed to take a moment, looking between the book and Drac, clearly confused.

Then, with the speed of thought, Bob swept down and pulled Mithias down near the floor. The Chaos God's face was nearly pressed to Mithias ear as he, in overly dramatic fashion, whispered into his ear. "Don't look now, but there's a dead guy standing behind you...."

You'd rather live under one of the generals of pretty much literal Satan than live under a rightful and intelligent ruler who spreads prosperity throughout the entire galaxy?

I have no idea what religion you're from, but I haven't yet met one that mandates masochism.

Nova acknowledged the human's experience. It appeared that this stranger had more knowledge of interdimensional travel than the Emperor, although he possessed little technical knowledge of it's workings. A practical, simple soul. A warrior of sorts, with straightforward morality. It was odd, meeting with such an uplifting soul after such tragedy had struck. But it was sometimes good to keep around people like this, who cut through the fat of complexity that always surrounded important decisions. "The plan, unfortunately, seems to have backfired mere moments before your arrival. It seems you have a habit for arriving when you are needed. An important talent, to be sure." Nova nodded at Absolis as he marched indignantly through his portal, and made his accusation. However, he would address Ace first. "You are familiar, I take it, with life-threatening endeavours with high risks? There is an alien faction that possesses technology I require. You will move into a military base filled with hundreds of hostile targets, all heavily armed and well trained. You will then use the scanner I provide you with to scan a large portal placed at the centre of this base. Then you will somehow make your way out of this base through a combination of stealth and skill." As Nova spoke, he psionically ordered the Kolons to construct a ship for Ace, as well as getting him a scanning device with enough processing power to contain the blueprints for the Goa'Uld portal technology. They were eager creatures, and the devices would be done and waiting for Ace before he'd even left the Palace. "The location of this alien territory is already placed within the ship I've prepared for you. Should you be in need of assistance, I will be able to teleport you directly to this base the moment you exit the alien base, I believe that the alien technology may prohibit me from affecting you as long as you remain within their base."

Having concluded his business with Ace, Nova turned to Absolis. He was confident the human would carry this task out with his usual precision and skill. After all, it was in this being's nature to succeed when it shouldn't be able to. "As for you... you believe that I had any intention of causing such damage. I overestimated the intelligence of the Outliners, and my mistake has had devastating consequences. But had Ruiko not utilized the weapon I gave her, do you doubt that all those I sent would now be dead, trapped within this afterlife of yours?" Nova smiled slightly at Absolis' gesture to draw his blade. "My vision is limited, and even I am prone to make mistakes. And this one was grievous indeed. I believed the Outliners to be an organization that could be reasoned with. If you wish to abandon my cause for this, then feel free to do so. I will not hold it against you. But know one thing."

Nova stood from the Golden Throne, stepping down from the massive construct to be level with Absolis. He looked the human in the eye, and Absolis would notice that they were quite literally aflame. "They harmed my allies, and in doing so they declared war on me and mine. So if you walk away today, I would ask you to stand in the shadows. For I will not rest until those responsible have been annihilated from this world, and your Conablum Labs have been torn to the ground." He allowed his words to sink in for a moment, staring down Absolis. He then turned and moved back to his seat. He had a war to prepare for, and no time for kind words. Whether Absolis stayed or left was his choice, the Emperor had no need for those not prepared to fight by his side.

With a thought, he sent a message to Banha and Ruiko. "Return to my side. Any further interaction will only harm you. Rest and recover."
- Kisaki Mao -

- Tartarus, Spider's Den -

The warrior sat in one of the many hive chambers, silently meditating with crossed legs. He would soon return to the city to sleep, as he had completed the task given to him. Although the child he had sought to rescue was dead, he had avenged his death manyfold on the spider population, and had retrieved evidence of the child's passing. At the very least he hoped to provide some measure of consolation to the parents. He would love to refuse the meager monetary reward he had been offered, but even a great warrior needed to eat, and he doubted these creatures were in any way edible. Although, then again, maybe if cooked right....

This catastrophic train of thought was interrupted by the sound of a stone, moved slightly. A normal person might have missed the slight sound, but Kisaki had spent his entire life honing his senses. Someone was moving through the tunnels, and from the sound (or rather, lack thereof), they were doing so with some measure of skill. There was no reason for one of the locals to approach this place. It held no riches, and was the home of the spider-like creatures that preyed on the inhabitants of this world. Based on this person's stealthy approach, they were skilled. This meant one of two things. This stranger had arrived either to help him, or to kill him. And Kisaki had no intention of waiting to find out which of the two it was.

With all the grace and litheness of a snake, he uncoiled himself, before softly pushing off against the ground. He softly floated up to the ceiling, absorbing and redirecting the force of gravity to assist him in his semi-flight. This was Air Dance, a technique he had developed to increase his mobility in combat. And it served him well as he waited on the ceiling, much like a spider himself. He placed himself directly over the entrance to the chamber, even as he heard the occasional sound of movement to herald the approach of this mysterious stranger. He waited there for almost 2 minutes, patient and silent.

A slight shifting in the earth was the only herald of the incoming attack. The ground under his hands rippled as the earth itself pulled him in, hard stone clamping around his hands as he was unexpectedly held in place. Hunter became the hunted as a his opponent revealed himself, a cloaked humanoid figure whom's face was obscured by the hood of their robe. Two glowing dots showed where the eyes would have been, some kind of vision-enhancing spell that had allowed this mage to spot him through the stone that had separated them. He had barely made this realization when the mage gestured upwards, a gout of flame erupting from their outstretched hand.

Forced into a corner, Kisaki unleashed a powerful burst of kinetic energy from his hands. The stone holding him in place shattered with a loud crack even as the force launched him backwards and away from the magical flamethrower. He moved through the air like a glider, Air Dance carrying him over the sudden wafts of hot air as he moved to the other side of the dark area. The flames died out and once more the darkness pressed down on the combatants. All he could see of his opponent was two glowing dots, and yet he already knew that his every move was clear as day to this mage. He shot forward, Dragon Form augmenting his speed as he dashed blindly. His body and mind had been trained for combat in all environments, and his feet automatically placed themselves on the uneven rock even as his stance automatically adjusted. But even with that he was at a disadvantage in the darkness.

A second burst of flame came to meet his advances, the sudden brightness blinding his eyes. But he had many other senses to rely on, and he knew that if he were to dodge to the side, the flames would simply follow him. If he were to move back, he would be kept at a distance continuously, unable to get into melee. Normally that was an excellent tactic, as mages would often run out of steam long before his more energy-efficient power ran out of energy. After all, he recharged just by existing, constantly siphoning energy from the force of gravity. But this was a rather cramped space, and the only exit was behind his attacker. The more ground he gave, the less room he would have to manoeuvre, and the less he would be able to dodge. His only shot was a direct attack.

As he met with the wall of flames his right arm shot out, punching the air in front of him. He focused the energy of his entire body, putting the power of his entire body behind it. He then projected that force, placing it beyond his fist and into the air, pushing at it and manipulating it with the power of his body. An invisible vortex shot forth from the tip of his fist, a vacuum forged from the parting of the air directly. The flames were torn in half, a pathway becoming visible for just a moment as the mage took a step backwards. The Hollow Fist, the ability to project a vacuum to counter flames both magical and mundane. It granted him a moment, which was all he needed. After all, even the most powerful mage would be surprised for a moment after their spell failed.

Kisaki filled his body with kinetic energy, launching it forward at superhuman speeds as he closed the remaining distance in less than a second. The mage was already raising another hand, preparing a spell of some kind, as Kisaki's fist moved in. He struck the mage in the forehead, a calculated blow as he regulated the energy of the impact. He absorbed part of the force back into himself, and applied the rest to the Mage's forehead. They rocked back under the force, their brain being slammed into the back of their skull. It was a force that would knock out a normal person, and yet this mage was merely stunned for a moment, as they found their footing again. Their body had been reinforced by magic, increasing their damage tolerance. Kisaki performed a quick second punch, applying a bit more force. This time the mage went down, sprawling on the floor as the light from their eyes faded away. The two consecutive punches had happened in the blink of an eye.

Kisaki took a moment to calm down, gathering his wits about him as he listened for any secondary attackers. There were none. This stranger had attempted to assassinate him on their own. That had been a bad call on their part. Kisaki reached down, picking up the mage and flinging them over his shoulder. It would be a while before they woke up, and Kisaki needed answers. If there was somebody out for his life, he would need to know their name and location. It seemed he wouldn't be staying in Tartarus after all.

Well, I'd love to see some Chaos up in here. We had a Daemon Prince a bit ago, but the guy playing him disappeared, and Chaos has been completely leaderless ever since.

As Ace walked through the doors, he would find himself in a rather strange place. It was a large hallway, with large pillars holding up a curved ceiling. The hallway was lined with skulls, a bright golden glow emanating from behind the eye sockets which brightly illuminated the room. The floor seemed to be made from carved marble, and the walls forged from gold. The entire scene would have been intimidating, had it not been for the crayon scribbles that covered every surface in sight. Even the ceiling was covered in scribbles, as if the entire place had been attacked by a magical flying toddler. But more interestingly would be the end of the corridor, which he slowly approached.

There, the God Emperor sat. A man easily 2 meters tall, covered in a layer of muscle. His body seemed to be sculpted from stone, and his eyes looked like they were made of fire as he looked down on the human. He was clad in golden power armour, the great gauntlets enhancing his already magnificent stature. He sat on an equally imposing throne, a massive device nearly the size of a house, with a long staircase leading up to the chair itself. Wires and tubes covered it, running alongside engravings made in the golden surface. Even a being with no psionic capabilities was able to sense the aura filling the room, as if the very air was filled with a running electric current. It didn't help that the Emperor's worry had heightened his psionic presence.

"My name is Nova. I am the Emperor of... well, this world, now. You most likely came to this place by accident, as did I. This place seems to exude some kind of pull, which pulls beings from various universes into this one, at this location." He didn't mention his explanation for this, as Nova believed that Arcadia's interdimensional pull was a result of the large amount of Terminals that could be found here. He had no time to explain the method of interdimensional travel to this adventurous human. "You were among those most recently drawn to this world. I was among the first. This is the stronghold that I have established in this world, the Imperial Palace. You are here because I believe you will assist me to establish a government in this world, through the elimination of the various evil forces that exist within it. You have experience facing many shadowy villains, but I believe these enemies will prove to be a challenge even for one such as yourself." Of course, even as he spoke, the Emperor mentally directed the events in Arcadia-2.

- Conablum Labs -

The lizards secured a position in the labs, but remained out of range of the automated defences. While they were childlike in mindset, their brains had been hard-wired for absolute obedience, and none would stray from their orders. They logged what they saw as the Emperor applied his knowledge of mechanics and computing. While the Conablum technology was foreign to him, it was leagues beneath what humanity had achieved during the Dark Age of Technology, before it had fallen into chaos. With an almost inhuman intellect, Nova began deciphering the several firewalls that blocked his access to the system, directly psychically interfacing with the programming. He could have simply destroyed the walls by erasing the code, but he had a sneaking suspicion that such attempts would activate a backup mechanism, erasing any data he hoped to gain access to. And it had been well coded, it would take some time to dissect, even with direct access.

Of course, as was typical in this world, his efforts were interrupted, as a new psionic presence suddenly appeared in this world. The Ethereal arrived, a sudden stark contrast to the empty void that had previously filled the grounds. He sized up the situation, and made his presence known through military might. Even as this was happening, Banha made his complaints known. However, it was foolish to think that Nova had sent in these beings with no hope of victory. And as the Advent soldiers moved to take out the lizards, they would soon discover the error of their ways. After all, Banha wasn't the only one who had been implanted with knowledge.

The suits worn by the reptiles were based on the original Space Marine armours designed by the Emperor, modified for their inferior size and physical stature. The Black Carapace had been implanted into them, granting them a direct interface with their armour. While they were physically far inferior to the Astartes, their stats were approximately peak human. The Armour boosted that force significantly, making them a force to be reckoned with. Especially as they were now able to wield the Bolters, weapons usually reserved for Space Marines.

The Advent soldiers opened fire, only to find their bullets blocked by what appeared to be an invisible force field surrounding the space marine, capable of easily tanking the tiny rounds. Heavier fire managed to pierce the field, but dealt only mild damage to the reptiles, the suit's plasteel and adamantium plating. They readied their weapons, a row of bolters held up and ready for combat. Giggles and cheering filled the room, as the reptiles complimented themselves on their sudden mastery of combat discipline. Through the helmet's, the sound of the raspy lizard voices laughing was almost unearthly and did not assist the morale of the advent troops, who saw their weapons being made utterly useless by superior defence. They were merely waiting on Banha's order, deferring to him as their commander in a combat situation. With a single word, they would unleash a hail of steel on the enemy forces.

Of course, that was when Eto made her presence known. A monstrous being of blood and writhing flesh, an abomination of nature and a perversion of the human form. Nova frowned, as he sensed this creature's presence. While he would love to interfere directly, he did not wish to abandon his throne at this time. Therefore, he simply called out to the most loyal of his followers through the webway he had constructed in his time on the Golden Throne. And as he called out, they responded, those who were feared even among the Angels of Death. The death dealers of the Emperor, the warriors without name or chapter, the Damned Legion.

They appeared clad in ethereal flames, black scorched armour hiding their forms as they materialized in bursts of flame. They surrounded Eto, silently placing themselves between the Ghouls and the others. Their nature was clear to the Ethereal, beings not of flesh and blood, but rather disembodied souls, forging a physical form in this plane. They were neither living nor dead, the reincarnated forms of those souls that had died in the name of the Emperor. Loyal even in death, they marched as an army of avenging angels. And now 50 of their number had materialized in this room, ready to once more sacrifice their lives in the name of their Emperor. It was as much as the Emperor could do, as this was the purpose of his webway in the first place.

Smiling, Nova gave a last message to the trio of diplomats. "Banha, my forces are under your command. Use them well, with wisdom and ferocity in equal measure. Ruiko, you remain my voice. I have sent aid, but I cannot leave my location. And Rivard.... try not to die." The Ethereal would have heard this message as well, as Nova wished for the Outliners' representative to be aware of the trio's positions. But the second message would be heard by the Ethereal only. "Treat my soldiers with respect, and I will do the same to you."
