Just a random guy, doing random things. Main RP: Hell's Coffee Lounge Current RPs change often enough that it's too much effort keeping a list of them updated.

Put up a link on this thread, so the rest of us can find it.
@Old Amsterdam
He was covered in a ball, and it was then shrunk to a ball 5 inches in diameter.

Without the direct intervention of some powerful external being, he's very dead.

I did not mean to make any point about the beatability or lack thereof of your villains. In fact I severely doubt you would introduce a set of villains if there was no actual way of defeating them. I merely said something stupid in anger. As such I retract my statement, and apologise for having made it.

I did message both of you, actually. You ignored my PM and replied in the OOC, so I assumed you wanted to handle this in the OOC, for whatever reason.

I'm sure you're an incredibly reasonable and understanding person. But if you knew I valued Emblem more than the average NPC, why didn't you talk to me about it before killing them off? At least to tell me this might not be the instakill it so clearly resembles.

I don't know what your life is like, or what your wifi reception is like. And while I respect and appreciate fighting through circumstances in order to contribute to this rp, which despite everything I still enjoy, that does not make this magically not a dick move. Everyone makes missteps, even if you spend hours planning, and I do not expect you to be a superhumanly perfect GM/Co-GM. But I still don't enjoy it when one of those missteps kills off a character I was looking forward to running.

The reason I'm angry, by the way, is because this effectively throws Team Epsilon out the window. With both their leader and firebender out, I might as well toss the entire idea. That's hours and hours of prepared stories and ideas I wanted to try out, down the drain in the blink of an eye. Although, despite this, I may have reacted overly pissed, and do apologise if my words were too harsh at any point.

@Regitnui

I told you at the time, sorry if it wasn't clear enough.

I am willing to allow all of my characters to suffer at the hands of the plot. Inferno was wiped out and is currently near death, Emblem was crippled for life by Dian's attack. If the situation came to it, I would be happy to have Dusk suffer crippling defeats as well, as long as it made sense. I don't expect my characters to get into fights with the main villains and have them get out unscathed. Hell, if we talked about it, I would even have been fine with characters dying. Emblem dying through Martyr system while heroically fighting the Alkahest, for example, would be a great story to me. But just killing them off in five lines of text feels like my character has just been erased, they didn't even get to die in a cool way.
@Old Amsterdam

Great, so you're setting up villains nobody can beat. But that still doesn't mean you get to swat characters out of the air like that. Especially when I had agreed with Regitnui that Emblem would be leaving crippled, but I could bring him back later. Killing him off without even informing me in advance is a dick move, and I don't appreciate it.

I don't care how powerful he is. There are a multitude of ways he or others in the area could have intervened. Dusk could have used a laser, Traveller could have used a teleport, he himself would be lashing out with Force, it's 1 ton power ripping holes in whatever was touching him. ESPECIALLY because he believes he's being assaulted by illusory nightmare monsters.

And no I can't just replace him. I specifically set up the Jack's powers so he can't shake supers out of his ass like christmas candy. Else he'd have an army of hundreds by now. Giving someone Emblem's level of power takes time and effort. And these guys had been training for weeks, as I had previously stated. I'm not going to get any more IC time than that, so anyone else I do manage to conscript and empower is going to be less good than that.

Sorry, but I'm pissed. You had no good reason to kill Emblem, and didn't even tell me in advance. That's a dick move.
@TheWindel
So is my character accepted...?
Well, that's an instakill on Emblem, I guess. I suppose the universe forgot about the existence of his forcefield, or the fact that killing characters like that is a dick move.

What the f*ck, guys?
@FlitterFaux
Personally I'm fine with any of these options. I am interested in this rp and will remain interested in it regardless of what happens. Whether it continues normally, skips elements, or completely reboots. So long as it's able to continue in one form or another.
@Balthazar007
I'm currently reading through the IC, so hopefully I'll have a post up soon.
@KoL
Would it be okay then if I dialed it back to 'spider sense'? An ability to sense danger moments before it happens, but not to know what exactly the danger is.
Name: Chronos
Title: Jim from accounting, George from management
Age: 4 in this timeline.
Gender: n/a, identifies as male
Allegiance: Machina
Race: Robot
Height: 2m
Weight: 3400 kilos

Appearance:

Personality:
Chronos can be divided into 'Jim from Accounting' and 'George from Management'. Half the time it's convinced it's a human office worker, referring to itself as 'Jim from Accounting'. In this state it's mostly passive, happily doing paperwork while chatting about it's job, which is completely imaginary. Attempts to convince it that it is in fact a robotic war-machine have all failed. As it becomes anxious when deprived of work to do, it is often given superfluous tasks to keep it busy. When stressed or in combat conditions it will usually transition into another personality, referred to as 'George from Management.' George is rude, sarcastic and violent, slaughtering it's opponents while making cynical commentary and chastising others for their flaws, however minor they may be. Luckily George is still loyal to Eos, who he refers to as 'upper management'. George has a surprising fondness for puns, and will occasionally ask an opponent he's taken a liking to to 'meet him after work for some beers'. When in danger Chronos will transition into his third and final personality, the rarest seen, and the only one without a name. This personality is a dedicated killing machine, and a far better fighter than either of the other personalities. It will only emerge for short periods of time, usually in the middle of combat. For unknown reasons, mentioning paperwork will immediately remove the third personality, and cause Jim or George to appear.

History:
At some point, the Machina wished to design a time machine. Unfortunately, they succeeded, and the time machine immediately vanished. Two months later it returned, heavily modified into a fully functional robot. It appeared to 'evolve' by moving forward through it's own timeline at a heightened pace, 'growing' modifications that the Machina scientists 'might' have made. Nobody's been able to figure out exactly how, or why, it functions.

Powers:

[Designed for War]
As a robot designed for combat, Chronos is equipped with a variety of combat features. It's far faster, stronger and tougher than a normal human being. It's outer layer is made of a highly enhanced ceramic armour. Using a variety of powerful sensors it's able to act in almost any environment. It's also waterproof, and will function for 5 days without recharging. Only 2 USB slots, though.

[Acceleration]
Does what it says on the tin. Using it's time-warping abilities, Chronos is able to accelerate it's own 'time' in order to move incredibly quickly. Unfortunately this ability also accelerates anyone touching Chronos while it's active, so it can be countered by grabbing him (or by being grabbed). Also, despite moving faster, because his 'velocity' isn't higher this doesn't make his attacks hit harder. It just helps with dodging and moving around.

[Deceleration]
By hitting someone, Chronos is able to make them move more slowly. Each consecutive blow usually decreases the target's 'time' by 10%, but consecutive blows can rapidly slow someone down. The effects last for a minute at most, however. Being slowed down makes it incredibly difficult to avoid attacks or hit Chronos, but it does have advantages. Forces will disperse before fully affecting you, and as such will not damage you as much as they should. The damage targets receive will also reduce by 10% for every hit. Percentages are based on the current speed, so two hits will slow someone down 19%, and 3 hits will slow someone down 27.1%

[Rewind]
Chrono is capable of 'rewinding' time, thereby rapidly healing any damage inflicted on him. However, he needs to be standing completely still while doing this. More recent wounds take less long to heal, obviously. Touching Chrono while he's in this state will break this state for Chrono, and also temporarily disable all of his time-based abilities. Ranged non-physical attacks will knock him out of this state, but not disable his time-based abilities.

[Skip]
Moves ahead to some point further ahead in the timeline. This ability has two functions. Firstly it can be used to teleport to any location Chrono could logically have reached within 10m by moving ahead to when he arrives there. Secondly he can vanish completely, reappearing in the same location up to a minute later, as he 'teleports to the future'. This ability can also be used on anyone Chrono is touching, causing them to temporarily vanish but not inflicting any damage to them. To the people affected, no time will have passed, and it will seem like the rest of the world skipped ahead.

[Preview]
Chrono is capable of seeing the future. Or rather, possible futures. This ability functions like spider sense, allowing him to see events coming up to 10 seconds before they happen. He can only perceive future events from his own perspective, so he's unable to see things coming which he wouldn't normally perceive. Being able to see something coming, however, doesn't necessarily mean he can dodge it, even with his abilities.

Weapons: He has that laser canon in his mouth.
Equipment: Usually a notepad and a bottle of water.
Other: Tell me if this is too crazy. I noticed my characters tended to be a bit melodramatic, so I went with something silly for a change.
High Voltage and the Jack ♠ Making Friends (2) ♙

Up to this point the heist was going smooth all things consider. The drill was nearly through the vault and in moments it would be open and the riches of the bank will be theirs. And now some fancy looking asshole has come strutting with some floating machine guns in asking for a part in the heist. And by extension a part of the loot. After the man introduce himself High Voltage turn to the horse masked man who was frozen in fear, "I got this guy just get that vault open." Before the horse masked criminal could stop him he walked up to jack. "Alright listen here you suave baster you can't just roll in here and demand a part. You should have join the plan on the ground floor. So, you got two option carry your ass out or I am gonna throw your ass out." he punctuated the point by arc electricity over his arms.

So this fellow was the leader. An Epic, by the looks of it, and his power had something to do with electricity. Probably just simple Electrokinesis, but there are many specialities within that area. It was a rather dangerous ability to be faced with, but the Jack's suit had been enchanted with the ability to ward off electricity. That defense had a limit on how long it could remain active, of course, but he wouldn't need long. Having analyzed the situation Nikitovich decided that he was not intimidated, and simply smiled.

"I suppose I'll have to thank you for the compliment, although I cannot return it. However, I would recommend not starting a fight you can't win." This person looked headstrong. It was unlikely that he would be intimidated by words alone, but if this turned into a fight then his whole plan might fall apart. He was here to recruit, after all, not pick fights. "How about we do this the easy way. I'm sure even you don't want an extended fight, do you? After all, even if you win, you can't spare the time." the Jack clasped his hands, as if making an offer. "How about we agree to make this easy for everyone involved? I'm not after the money, anyway. Rather, I'm here to offer you a job. I'm in need of.... foot soldiers, and you seemed capable enough."

The electric mercenary was ready for a brawl with the Jack. But he was not expecting to receive a job offer. ” I am in the middle of another job currently,” High voltage turn to looked at the drill noting that it is nearly through the door. ” So what does this job entail and how much does it pay?” he asked the vault was cracked open behind him. The robbers quickly ducked into the vault to start collecting the loot and to get out of the line of fire between the two villains.

"And that job is going swimmingly." the Jack glanced around approvingly. "Of course, if it wasn't for the uprising in another part of the city you'd probably be hip-deep in heroes right now, but timing is an important skill." With a gesture, he produced a note from his sleeve. It was covered in strange scribbles, runic-looking text that covered every inch of the paper. He flicked the paper at the mercenary, where it immediately attached itself to him. "For the next minute, you have superhuman strength. Try it out, if you want. You should have about 10x the strength of a normal human being, for the duration." He'd spent a while crafting that thing. It was short-lived, but effective. "I can pay you in a way no other employer can. I possess the ability to both enhance your pre-existing abilities, or to grant you new ones. Permanently. An increase that will serve you for the rest of your life. Or, alternatively, I could just pay you in normal money." Some were just obsessed with cash, after all.

‘So that explains why nobody has come by yet,’ High Voltage he though as Jack produce a note from his sleeve. Before he could ask what the note was Jack toss the note at him. The note latched onto the merc. As the note attached to him he felt his strength surge immensely. Deciding to follow Jack suggestion he walked over to a nearby ATM machine and with effortless ripped from the wall. Toss it onto the ground he thought over Jack offer. He quickly came to his decision, with Jack power he has a way to the top. To be the top mercenary on the planet quite a fair deal if you as him. “You got your merc sir. Turn me into one of those thunder bolt throwers of old and I am your man.” He said as the enhancement faded away.

The Jack smiled beneath his mask. "Excellent! So glad that we could reach an agreement. Well then, I will leave you fine gentlemen to your business." He made another short bow as he backed out of the room, already thinking of his next move. "I have business to attend to elsewhere. But when you're finished...." As he turned to leave, he dropped a card. Not a magic one this time. It was akin to a business card, containing the location of the normie appartment the Jack used as a base. "I will see you later."
