Either RolePlayerGuild.com is glitching, or everyone is studiously ignoring my PMs.

Erudessa's retort is roughly translated, "Go french-kiss an orc."

Gurgle stopped.
The crowd hushed.
Fifty pieces? For an elf? That was an offer old Gurgle had to seriously consider. With that kind of money, he could afford to buy off the crowd's good opinion and still turn a profit. And if he could make a show of freeing her so he wouldn't have to buy off anyone, he could keep all the proceeds for himself. Considering that all she wore now was a few cloth straps, the most embarrassing way to hand her off would be to force skin contact with her new master. He grinned, baring all his ugly yellow teeth. "Very well, Ranger. You can have her. Here, take her!" He took her by the arm and dragged her part of the way, then shoved her toward Lanik. With the partial paralysis already setting in, she wobbled, stumbled, and crashed into Lanik. The crowd roared with laughter. "Not so elegant now, are you, elf?" one woman jeered. "I bet your master's going to love you in bed!" one man taunted.

Sweating profusely and drawing ragged breaths, Erudessa only had enough strength to wrap her arms around Lanik's neck and pray she didn't fall further. Brutes...the lot of you... The only expression she could muster was an exhausted scowl. With her forehead buried in Lanik's neck, she got a whiff of his scent. Though she couldn't visually recognize him from the altar, his smell was more familiar to her. From the forest. I think this man is a Ranger. The one I helped? No, this one's a little different. His companion. Should I thank him? What if he has a more painful end in mind for me? I'd better hold my thanks until I know what he plans to do with me.

Gurgle roared again. "Ah ha ha ha! Aw, how sweet, how touching their reunion. Look at the way she holds him, like a whore spent from a night of lovemaking. Go enjoy your elf, Ranger! Wah ha ha ha ha ha!" All the onlookers roared with him.
"Eca, a mitta lambetya cendelessë orcova," Erudessa retorted under her breath.

A guard seized the fifty golds pieces, and the auctions resumed. Erudessa looked up at Lanik.
"Hello again," she breathed.
@Thinslayer I think it still works. She probably just arrived a little bit before they all came outside, so in your next post you can have her react to it all spilling onto the streets?

Sure thing! Given that she's unfamiliar with the Mad God or related theology, she wouldn't know which side to choose, so until she becomes better-informed, she'll endeavor to stay out of it.

@Infamous Empath Question. Can I assume D'ren is more or less immortal? Because that's the trait Freyja is looking for.
Dangit, I'd forgotten that the fight was taken outside. Should I edit?

The universe shuddered and groaned. The air, like a lense, focused for a moment, and in the blink of an eye, a silver sphere appeared on the earth. It sparkled like a million shooting stars until fading into nothingness, leaving behind...a woman. Her silver hair flew in her face under the stiff wind, and she pushed it back into her hood. Then she opened her eyes.

Shit Faced Tavern

She knitted her brows. "What kind of a name is that?" she said to herself. Freyja fished out a strip of paper with coordinates on it. "This is the place..." She shoved it back in her pocket and moved toward it. The closer she got, the more chaos she saw. Outside, people were running and tripping over themselves to get away. A man slumped to the ground. The shadows of a brawl danced in the windows. I suppose introductions are in order. She shoved open the doors to find an overgrown crocodile, a barbarian, and a shadow person duking it out between the tables.

"Nope."

Freyja shut the doors and went back out. A dark-skinned man had picked up the slumped-over man and put him on a wagon. Might as well get a bit of information from them. Should I pretend to be a concerned citizen, or just be casual about it? After a moment's pondering, she wandered over to the wagon and approached the dark-skinned man. "Hey, what's going on over there?" she asked, jutting a thumb at the inn.

Midhaven is laid out as follows: There is a tall white palace in the center of the city, with high spires and onion-shaped domes. Just south of it is the Auction House, a boring box structure. In fact, the rest of the city is mainly clay box houses with flat roofs and not much else. That said, the buildings are fairly modular, and can be stacked several times before structural integrity is compromised. The buildings further in are multi-story stores, with the bottom floor reserved for business and the upper floor for residence. Further out are the residential districts where you'll find inns and rental places. On the outermost edges of the city are the abodes of the wealthy, the larger and more ornate houses belonging to captains, generals, and aristocrats. Not all the outer ring is residence though - the northern half is heavy industry. Yeah, the blacksmiths and carpenters are in the center of the city, but the mines, mills, and factories, the real industry of the city, are along the northern rim. Farms and plantations can be found in the surrounding suburbs.

Midhaven also contains remnants of the former cultures that lived there. Their water treatment and sewage systems remain among the most advanced in the world, and there is a functioning electric power plant on the outskirts of the city. With the loss of electrical knowledge, however, the plant is now only used to keep the mines and water pumps running.

Buying a slave, especially an engineer/healer like Eru, would be an investment for him, then. He'd have to make more profit from her than he lost acquiring her, which might give him reason to put pressure on her to produce results. Combined with his preexisting disposition against her kind, there's plenty of room for conflict. I like your thinking. Let's roll with that. :)
