Either RolePlayerGuild.com is glitching, or everyone is studiously ignoring my PMs.

"Oh! Uh, my name is Kiera and I live in Easthaven," said the girl, her tone wavering slightly in surprise. "Well, lived considering I was ever since I become a slave on this yacht."
Dessa offered a warm smile and touched Kiera's hand. The girl came off as a little nervous, and well she should, for she'd just been dragged off by a total stranger to a remote corner of the ship. And Dessa knew all too well how cruel the fairer sex could be away from prying eyes.

And Kiera, of course, had questions. "By the way... What do you mean by plans? What are you planning to do with Gurk? Not that I mind if anything bad happens to him, but I'd like to know what's going on."

Dessa gulped. She had to make this one count. She leaned closer and opened her mouth to speak.

Then she paused.

"I...do not plan to kill him," she began slowly. "But I do wish for him to see the error of his ways within his...short...lifetime." She glanced toward the entrance. No errant shadows on the floor or other human noises. Dessa turned back to Kiera.

"But that is not important now. You are here. You...I mean, you have incredible potential, perhaps rivalling even Lady Valentine herself. I thought to lend you a hand. Would you permit me to train you in what little ability I know?"

The princess's laugh made him feel like a million dollars. "I used to do the same thing when I was younger and I visited my sister here," she commented. "Used to go to the library lots too, poked my head into a lot of forbidden books. Sadly, I found nothing."

Her hand grazed Byron's shoulder. If he didn't realize she was flirting earlier, he did now, and he had to resist the urge to say something romantic and stupid. No one flirts with the princess except an equal. So he kept his mouth shut while she continued. "Sounds impressive, all those statues. Though, I suppose I never had a large affinity for them. Unless they carry secrets." Her lips stretched into a half-smile. Byron mirrored her expression and dropped his gaze, where he noticed the attractive sway of her hips. He found his own gait to be a tad more uncomfortable.

A nearby guard snorted at him. He glanced back just in time to see Sir Nero and Sir Quint snap back to their positions. Byron pushed down his anger and feigned a laugh as he turned back to the princess. "Seems the statues aren't the only ones with secrets," he joked.

They arrived at the throne room, where Byron pushed open the great doors to find King Dragan standing before a strange purple summoning circle. The King had his hands clasped together as he uttered a spell in a low, ominous chant. He paused to look up.

"Welcome at last, my daughter. Come hither."

Opening the chest proved a costly move. No sooner had he sheathed the Legendary Blade Gladius than he heard footsteps approaching through the cavern. It wasn't just Vanarys' steps he heard - there were about two, maybe three other people with him. If he was to survive, he'd have to get a move-on and not get distracted again.

His run down the blue-marked path finally produced the first signs of something interesting - literally. There was a rickety wooden sign attached to the cavern wall that warned of a "DEAD END." The tunnel appeared to continue on. Ravadon had a choice to make.

Believe the sign and turn back, and pray your pursuers get lost.
Don't believe the sign. You don't have time to backtrack.

Argh, this is so frustrating! Weekends are perfect for writing, but IRL people keep booking my time. Like, when my sister has been waiting all week to binge-watch this TV show with me, what am I going to say, "Sorry, gotta write with strangers on the internet?" Then it's 1:17am by the time I remember to write again, and I'm in no mental shape for it. e_e

Don't worry guys, I'm still brimming with story stuff and ideas; just a tad short on opportunities to write them lately. I'll post tomorrow afternoon.

Sorry about that! I've been really busy with school so I wasn't able to be on here as much as I used to. I'll start my post right now.

Ah, makes sense. Take your time.
I think this story needs a little something, a little "oomph" of emotion in it. Working on something. ;)

Still kinda waitin' on you. :3

As Ravadon plodded deeper into the caves, the only light came from the crystals hanging from the ceiling. The walls glittered at times, hinting of valuable minerals left close to the surface. He soon found himself following an abandoned minecart track, one rusted with age and unfortunately lacking in minecarts. The track eventually forked into three separate paths - on the ceiling of the left path was a blue crystal, the right path a green crystal, and the forward path a red crystal. The path with the green crystal came to a metal chest in surprisingly good condition.

"Of course I can help," the princess reassured him. "You can call me Isabella, or 'Bella' for short. I'm not that high up in the ranks. Plus, 'milady' gives me the shivers."
Captain Byron blushed at Isabella's comments. Her smile and wink instantly put him at ease . "Very well. Bella it is," Captain Byron replied, offering her a shy grin. "Your assistance will be much appreciated. The king's summoning of the Grim Reaper is particularly troublesome; I've heard rumors, dark rumors, that the two were once allies. Summoning such powerful beings, I hope you'll agree, would be gravely perilous to the health of the kingdom, let alone to the king. I think we should try to talk him out of it.

As they walked through the halls, they passed lifelike statues of past heroes. One bore the likeness of Tristan the Great, said to have had the very first Mark. Another was a completely nude model of the Immortal Valentine, which would have doubtless mortified the real Lady Valentine had the Void not destroyed her. She was renowned for her modesty and chastity (among other things), though some historians believe she was married to as many as ten mortal men during her lifetime.

The third statue they passed was the most realistic, impeccably sculpted to resemble the late King Edward Dragan. He stood with his sword drawn, his handsome face marred by a slight expression of pain. Small cuts were intricately carved into various places on his body. Curiously, his right hand was tucked behind him, and there were trace letters written on the back of his hand that could not be read from any easy angle.

Captain Byron jutted his chin slightly at the statue of the King. "When I was younger, I took a mirror and tried to read the inscription on his hand. I didn't get far before the palace guards caught me. It looked like an incantation of sorts." He turned to Isabella. "All of these statues are fairly new. There used to be just one statue, Immortal Nero's, but now there's a whole slew of them, sixteen in all, with heroic figures from the last few decades."
Oops, got a little sidetracked with my total conversion for E.V. Nova. I'll post soon. :P
