Either RolePlayerGuild.com is glitching, or everyone is studiously ignoring my PMs.

Quest Start: Destroy One Hundred Golems Before They Destroy the City!
@Darkwatck01
No sooner had Edward deposited the man on his feet than the other patrons dragged the unfortunate individual back and started to pummel him. The man cried out in agony as their blows drew blood on every corner of his body. Then they stood up and came for Edward and Ravadon.

"What...madness...is this?" Ravadon gasped. His eyes narrowed. He slipped Gladius out of its sheath and levelled it at the patrons. "Now look here, you slimy scumbags! You cannot treat people like that in my glorious presence. I hereby sentence you to-"
A patron threw a punch at him.
Ravadon instinctively sliced back.

A stone head rolled to the ground.

These were not humans. These were golems. Ravadon had barely picked his jaw up off the floor when he heard screams erupting down the street. "Edward," he said slowly, "Perhaps it's time for a retraction to your earlier statements?"
__________

@ineffable
The screams soon grew common enough to be heard inside the castle walls. Sir Byron motioned for a guard to go outside and investigate. The guard came running back. "The city is under attack from...from golems, sir!"

The King rose to full height.

"The Dragon is here."
((Samdragonx has granted the GM permission to manage his character for a few days until his return. I shall endeavor to manage Ravadon with all due dilligence and respect.))
@Samdragonx@Darkwatck01
One of the patrons approached them, a giant of a man with thick, rippling muscles and barely enough shirt to hide them. He came within two feet of Ravadon, crossed his arms, and sneered. "Just who do you think you are, boy? I'll tell ya - yer a robbin', lyin' thief and a scoundrel. If I weren't a-feared of higher powers, I'da pulverized ya to goop on the wall. In fact, I'mma thinkin' of doin' just that..." He coiled back his arm to throw a punch.

This, as history will recall, wasn't Ravadon's brightest moment. "I think I am the Glorious Ravadon of Xyllodan, the One, the Only. If you will but listen to my tale-"

The man didn't. The man's fist connected with Ravadon's cheek with a loud crack and spray of spittle. Ravadon stumbled back and regained his footing. He ducked just in time to let another punch thunder over his head. "Now, look here, sir!" he retorted, wiping the blood from his mouth. "I'll have you know you've embarrassed me grievously, and shall pay dearly for that. Have at you!" He pulled back his fist as far as he dared, then unleashed it upon his enemy. His knuckles struck the man's chest with a thud - a glorious hit!

Silence.

The giant man chortled, a deep, menacing rumble that shook Ravadon's very bones. "You call that a punch? I'll show you what a punch is, weakling-" His monologue was cut short by a bloody cough that dropped him to the floor. "What the- what is this?" Ravadon clutched his own hand, knuckles still throbbing from the strike. He couldn't show his pain, not now, when victory was so close. So he grinned. "That, sir, is the might of the glorious Ravadon. You would do well to remember it."

The other patrons, however, didn't seem to remember it so well, and cracked their knuckles as they marched toward him. Ravadon backed off to Edward's side.

"Um, this doesn't look so good, my friend. Got any bright ideas?"
Glorious Ravadon! At least, as I imagine him.
All right, time to implement the first batch of plot twists.

These "drunk thugs"...aren't ordinary mooks...and they're not drunk.
Depending on wording, yes. However as it stands getting rid of it can have just as bad of a problem if it wasn't there. Its a double edge sword is all.

Damned if you do Damned if you don't. Thats what I am getting from you.

That's not really what I'm trying to convey, but I'm going to end my side of the debate here for fear of further derailing my RP. xD

So, you guys want me to handle the NPCs now, or are we gonna see some action? :D
This Regulation isn't meant to control ISPs. Its meant to kept them from going full Bipartisan Monopoly on your ass. Trust busting at its finest.

At no point does the Government have the ability to tell ISPs what they can or can't show. This prevents the ISPs from doing what was listed above. Outside of that, the Government has no hands in the Internet.

Of course the government can't tell ISPs what the can or can't show right now. That's what makes these door-opening regulations so enticing - they're so small, so limited, that they look entirely harmless, beneficial even. You know how the 16th Amendment was sold to the American public? Let me tell you, they didn't sell it on the 33+% income tax rate we've got going now. People were told it would never rise above 1%. It was small, it was limited, what harm could it do? But the problem was, by creating the 16th Amendment, they set a precedent for the government to tax our income. They created a new tool.

NNR is the same deal. Today, it looks harmless and beneficial. It only tells ISPs to quit messing with the internet. The issue isn't with the NNR rules themselves - I agree, they're completely harmless, in and of themselves. The problem, I must repeat, is precedent. By allowing the government to create a rule in this area, you set a precedent for the government to create even more rules in this area.

Does that kinda make sense?
Um...

You do know with out the current Regulations, ISPs are able to charge you for internet access to websites. It also stops them from Throttling/Blocking/DoS attacking/and out right bulling Websites into pay ISPs other wise they will basically get cut off from the world. It also opens up ISPs to be able to allow them to basically sell you websites like a Cable package.

Please read the NNR (Net Neutrality Regulations). Because with out them ISP can go against you 1 st. and 4th. Amendment rights. This is the Government strong arming ISPs back and keeping the people safe. Ya I know strange concept but, its the truth.

[Edited because I mistaked one of the admendments in the Bill of Rights*]

NNR isn't necessary to guarantee 1st and 4th Amendment rights. They're enshrined in the Constitution (by definition, being Amendments). A simple legal challenge should suffice on that point.

For the rest...like I said, I agree. I don't like ISPs being able to charge me for internet access. I don't like them being able to block certain websites and allow others. I just don't think NNR is the correct solution to the problem. I think the power of the wallet and greater economic freedom is more powerful in the long run.

My biggest problem, frankly, is with the government involvement. I look at it this way: for every new kind of regulation created, the government acquires a new tool, useful for good or ill. If you allow the government to control ISPs through regulation, you grant them precedent to control YOU through the same regulatory principles. I look at Trump's proposed border wall the same way - today, it can be used to keep illegal immigrants out; tomorrow, it can be used to keep emigrant Americans in.

Let's not give the government any new tools to control us with.
It's about time. Considering the incompetence of the previous and current administrations, I'm not too eager for even more government regulation. Government tends to screw things up whenever it steps outside its role as a moral enforcement agency. Plus, I really don't want to let the government get its foot in the door with internet regulation. It's not that I disagree with the principle of Net Neutrality; I just disagree with the implementation.
