I hadn't had anything concrete in mind before starting this, other than wanting it to be Metro themed. Now that we've pretty much decided London as the setting I'll be able to write that lore up. Right now I'm thinking that the local political figures were evacuated into a station together and essentially formed what would be the continuation of Parliament. Initially they would have tried to maintain their control throughout the entire Tube, though over time that control would diminish to only a few stations, with other factions taking hold throughout the Tube. As these things are established I'll be adding them to the OP.
London is most likely what we'll be going with, though an alternate version in where the tunnels and stations were built with the use as bomb shelters in mind. As for your characters, they can be from any walk of life, but they will end up venturing into the tunnels. It'll likely be starting in a station, where the group will be taking on some kind of task that has them set out together.

In 2013, a nuclear war forced humanity to seek shelter from a now hostile world. The surface around densely populated areas had been hit with major amounts of radiation, causing the land to be lethal to human life. Where possible, humanity sought refuge in the metro tunnels beneath their home cities, with others being unlucky enough to become mutated into horrendous creatures along with the local fauna. Outside the world's major cities, the radiation wasn't as bad. Some areas remained hospitable for humanity to survive, though most creatures over time still managed to mutate, causing the land to be filled with vicious creatures as well as humans who had resorted to a life as bandits.

In a world as harsh as this, only the strongest survive, along with those they choose to protect. Railway stations became cities under the watch of such strong people, providing humanity a place to attempt to flourish underground. Local governments formed in these stations, along with militaries to protect them. When resources begin to run scarce however, will these civilizations be able to find a way to maintain their life below the surface? Or perhaps they'll forge new paths, heading out from the dark tunnels and into the light of the hostile world above.

Welcome, everyone, to Metro 2037. Taking place in an alternate version of our world, and following the events of the Metro series, this story will begin by following the story of a small group of metro dwellers as they brave the odds, facing mutants, bandits, the leftovers of pre-war factions, and perhaps the most threatening of all, limited resources. The world above is flooded with radiation, requiring the use of gas masks for any kind of surface travel within major cities. As a member of this group, how will you shape your story?

Thank you for your concern, I'm doing fine now. Regardless of that though, I'll likely be making the OoC tonight. Between you and the ones who showed interest in the Casual thread, I've got seven people for this now, which is plenty for a group of metro travelers. Once I've made it I'll be posting the link here as well, so be on the lookout.
Unfortunately only about 45% of London's rail system is underground, so the size of the underground metro would be about half the total length of Moscow's. In any case, I think enough interest has been gathered to open an OoC, so I'll likely be doing that later tonight. When I do I'll be tagging everyone to make sure you're all still onboard. Once we're in there, we'll be able to hash things out a bit more in depth. Honestly though, I'm currently debating saying all the lines are underground for London's metro system in this AU. It would make things much less complex.
St. Petersburg would work, though a cpuple of people would like to avoid setting it in Russia. If we were going to do London, we probably would need to say it was an AU, and say the tunnels were built in a manner similar to Moscow's metro. In all honesty that's probably what we'll need for any setting other than Russia, or perhaps Pyongyang's metro. That system is only like 22km or something though.
I'm doing fine now, thanks for the concern. I suppose if Polis is only that deep then the London tunnels would probably be safe, but the other issue is that according to that map the tunnels appear to resurface in a few places, even along the Circle line. I'm not exactly familiar with the layout of London so I can't confirm this one way or another, though if it does we could just say it's AU, and the underground lines are only underground, unless they transfer to an above ground line or something. And I doubt the Tube has blast doors like Moscow's Metro, so those will likely need to be added as well.

As for weapons, a majority of the weapons in Metro seemed to be hand made. The only pre-war weapons were the AK47, the Kalash 2012, the VSV, the Bulldog in Exodus, and the Saiga-12. All the rest were made from scrap basically. I believe the brits had their own assault rifles to replace these though. In a world where nukes were launched, I'm sure London probably had some kind of military presence protecting it, and thus some military grade weapons and ammunition.

Foxes might be a good start. I'll need to see what else there is.
I'll throw my hat in the ring.
