@Tyler Aw shit, I missed your sheet. Interesting character, he has a very fleshed out backstory. My gripe has to be the fact that he has no real weaknesses or drawbacks - only limits. He has quite a few abilities... teleportation, hiding in a mirror dimension (Where he's completely impervious to harm and doesn't age), remote viewing, and eventually a telekinetic control over mirrors... I want some weaknesses to balance all that out. There's also a few questions. What would happen if someone breaks his mirror? How far can he teleport/view? How many mirrors can he control? Also, he's a little underweight. He should be a bit heavier.

Also, both your sheets are missing something important. Review the rules to find out what!

Thank you for your feedback. I am going to address each point individually and I hope we can work something out from there.

1) "He has no real weaknesses or drawbacks - only limits."
I struggled with this! I could not properly determine the difference between a 'limit', a 'weakness' and a 'drawback'. This is why I merged the two section of the character sheet as I felt I had properly addressed his weaknesses in the 'Limits' field. However based on your feedback and re-reading I have realised I have not done this.

I have outlined elsewhere in the character sheet that sport is not Mason's forte, and this lack of athleticism would definitely affect his ability in combat. I feel that would be a big weakness. He would be of little use in combat until his telekinesis develops, which I feel would come later - after his teleportation and remote viewing, definitely. And even then, his combat ability is limited to flesh wounds only, cut and stab wounds caused by fractured mirrors. He cannot damage machines, for example, nor can he cause enough damage to penetrate protective clothing such as armoured vests etc.

I would like to think of more weaknesses for him. I consider the fact that any time spent in the mirror world counts as "using his power" and thus pushes him towards exhaustion a weakness, though this sort of applies to all characters I suppose. Do you have any suggestions, perhaps?

2) "What would happen if someone breaks his mirror?"
If someone were to break his mirror, Mason would have to find another mirror to exit the mirror world through. Every mirror is a door/window in/out of the dimension. The reason he does not age is because his 'teleportation' is actually him wandering through the mirror world in search of the right door. Time and space works differently to allow for this, so that it would not take him years and years to teleport.

---

3) "How far can he teleport/view?"
As detailed above, he teleports by moving through the mirror realm and exiting through the mirror at his destination. This is why his power requires a mirror to be at any teleport destination, as these are the doors in/out of the dimension. In terms of how far he can teleport, I think in theory he would be able to teleport as far as he wanted; the catch is, of course, that being in the mirror world drains his energy and thus questions are raised as to how far he would be able to go.

I think for the purpose of the RP, we can say that at his current level his range is limited to the size of the school campus. As the story develops I would like to see this expand to the Black Fall area comfortably and further afield when strained.

His remote viewing ability should not be limited by distance in my opinion, as he does not need to enter the mirror realm for this. The further afield the mirror is, the longer it would take him to find and the more energy it would use, but I don't think a set-in-stone radius is relevant to this power.

---

4) "How many mirrors can he control?"

In terms of his teleportation, this is limited to one at a time. He cannot duplicate himself and thus he cannot be in two places at once. His remote viewing is also limited to one at a time. The way this power works is by looking into a mirror. Once he finds the place he wishes to view, the image of that location replaces the mirror. The change is visible to anyone looking at the mirror.

For his telekinesis, he could probably shift quite a lot of mirror by the time he develops it, as his powers will have grown. His telekinesis works in the same way as anyone else's, it's just it only works on mirrors. As mirrors are typically quite light anyway, and this weight will be distributed across smaller fractured pieces, the amount of mirror he can shift would not necessarily be the problem. The problem would be the amount of mirror available to him (remembering that reflective glass, water, etc does not count.)

I imagine he will likely carry a collection of mirrors with him that he can utilise in combat, 're-using' the shards throughout the fight. (Think Magneto and his ball-bearings from the X-Men movies, but without the overkill.) As he only has telekinetic power over mirrors he can see, unless there are any other mirrors at the combat scene then Mason is limited only to those he can carry with him without slowing him down.

5) "He's a little underweight. He should be a bit heavier."
This is deliberate and is part of the character's story. It is pseudo-mentioned at various points in the character sheet but I can go into more detail via PM is required.

I look forward to your feedback.

Hi guys. I have a busy week but the OOC should be up soon, and by the time sheets have been submitted and reviewed my schedule will be completely empty. (Hello, 5 month break! Gotta love university.)

I will, as promised, post the OOC here. Although, I should warn you that the name of the academy will be changing. I had intended the name Faraway as just a general surname (FA-RA-WAY), but I was browsing my Facebook yesterday and saw a post using the term 'faraway' (FAR-AWAY), as in to go someplace 'faraway'. I had not made this connection at all and now I can't overlook it, haha. But the premise of the RP will remain the same.

Thanks for the overwhelming interest. I can only hope the quality of character sheets matches the collective enthusiasm. I will try not to keep you waiting for too long.
Thanks for the interest. I'll start work on the OOC and will link it here when it is complete. You can expect it within the next few days.

In the meantime, as always, please continue to show interest or ask questions.
Thank you for the interest, guys. Hopefully we'll get a few more and then I'll kick up an OOC. Feel free to ask any questions in the meantime.
Pondsforge is a large town with a thriving community. Lying unassumingly on its outskirts sits a large, grand yet otherwise uninteresting manor. Everyone in Pondsforge knew about its history: once upon a time, Bush Hall served as the residency to William Bush, a wealthy aristocrat who had the lavish home built as a rural retreat. When the first plans to start a new settlement nearby were announced, Bush did his absolute best to stop 'Pondsforge' from happening. Obviously, his efforts proved futile, and within a few years his view of the rolling hills featured a new addition: a small collection of neat houses. It was not too much of an inconvenience after all, he had mused as he realised that he had perhaps been overreacting before. As it turned out, he was wrong. Every year, the town grew more and more - as did the noise, traffic and pollution that came with it. And as it grew, Bush's view from his dream house became less and less perfect. Eventually, the wealthy man simply abandoned the house and was rumoured to have moved further North. And there the house sat, unoccupied for centuries.

More recently - about twenty years ago - the house was purchased overnight by a mysterious man not local to the town. It was rumoured that he was an intensely private man, who desired Bush Hall primarily for its tall walls and situation away from the town itself. Within weeks, building work began and the house was soon restored to its prime condition, before a sign was erected by the wrought iron gates. "FARAWAY ACADEMY OF EXCELLENCE", it read in golden type. Underneath, a subtext read "School of learning for exceptionally gifted and talented youths."

The novelty of having such a prestigious and esteemed academy in the town soon wore off when the parents of Pondsforge realised that none of their children met the criteria for a place at Faraway. Frustrated mothers inundated the school with calls, letters and E-mails in vain attempts to convince the board that their child was something special. And yet, it seemed like not a single child in Pondsforge attended the academy.

The truth is, some of the towns residents were indeed quite special. But they simply were not special enough for a school like Faraway. You see, the special gifts that Faraway is concerned about do not involve mathematics or science or language... Faraway are interested in something much more special: superpowers. For the past 25 years, Michael Faraway and his team of experts have been helping young people with extraordinary gifts - people like you - to hone and shape their extraordinary gifts. And in its quarter-centennial year, you are a new student at the school.

You will attend classes and workshops to help you control your talents, meet new friends to explore the grounds with and potentially uncover some of the academy's secrets. For not all is as it seems; previously privately-funded by Faraway himself, the school has run out of funds. This year, a new sponsor has stepped forth to help the school's doors stay open... But at what cost?

------

tl;dr: Super-school roleplay that will deal with an underlying plot as well as the usual classes/social events that come with this kind of RP. It is not sandbox but there will definitely be plenty of opportunities to freestyle. I think the most interesting element of school-based RPs is their potential for multi-strand narratives, and I would love to explore the different story lines that each character has to offer. Please notify me of any interest and ask any questions below.
I'm going to have to pull out of this one. I'm very sorry for the misleading interest; I had hoped that certain real-world commitments would have been relinquished by today. Alas, they remain. Perhaps next time...
