It is certainly not 'optimal', but it *is* doable, depending on what you want to do with it. You could go swords or valor bard and play them more like a warrior with some magical ability

Sara cursed to herself as she saw a flare shoot up from the settlement they just passed. Why? Why did they do that? Did they think the flares would scare them away? The flare did little more than let the train know that they were being tailed, and lo and behold, the drones and mechas on the train began to mobilize. The quick smash and grab now became a firefight- The drones weren't particularly smart, but there were enough of them that they could overwhelm one of them if they were singled out.

"Marking bandits." Sara called out as she began moving into position. Thirteen red dots began glowing in her 3-d mini map that sat at the bottom of the cockpit, between her knees. "Wonder how they got the funds to afford all those drones." Sara wondered aloud. Drones weren't exactly cheap out here in the fortune lands, unless you knew a guy who knew a guy.

Sara lined herself up with the train rails, the Jager Hound still hanging below her via the cables. The activated her afterburners and began rocketing forward. "Robin be a dear and take out those AA guns for me." Sara said, eyeing the train's AA flak guns warily. "I don't want to derail the train by shooting it with missiles, that risks destroying the elemuntum." With that, Sara hit the release on the cables that held the Jager Hound, dropping it onto the train as she soared by.

A red light bathed Sara's face as a high pitched beep began to fill her cockpit. At the top of her vision, a red warning light blinked on screaming 'Missile'. A glance at her rear view camera confirmed that one of the drones had launched a missile at her. Sara pulled up on her controls, the corners of her vision dimming as she clenched her core muscles and breathed. Her mech angled upwards and shot into the sky, the missile straining to turn and catch up to her. These missiles were much bigger than the Serpent missiles that Therux used- it also meant they were easier to dodge.

"ACM Deployed" a robotic feminine voice spoke into Sara's headset as her mech launched a counter missile at the offending missile, rewarding her with the sound of a detonation a moment later. With the missile dealt with, Sara turned her machine around to deal with more immediate threats. Chasing after her were a trio of enemy drones- one that had launched a missile at her, and two more with ballistic cannons. At her current range, the enemy fire was ineffectual, and it took little more than a few light taps on her strafe thrusters and her shield to block or dodge most of the oncoming fire.

Sara breathed out a happy sigh, her first combat mission in a while. Even though she was dealing with just drones, it still got her adrenaline pumping. Pushing her mech forward, she dived at the three oncoming mechs, her directional thrusters allowing her to weave back and forth, confusing the drones' rudimentary targeting systems, while she targeted two of them with her own missiles. Sara focused on weaving through the enemy fire as she listened to the rapid beeping of her targeting system as it attempted to lock onto the incoming drones. Her ears filled with the solid tone of a missile lock and she launched two missiles as she banked and turned, flipping her machine in the air as she moved and charging back in at a different angle.

As the two missiles launched from their racks, they broke into four smaller missiles each, the sudden appearance of more missiles causing the Drone's evasion routines to seize up for a moment- unsure of which missile to react to. By the time the evasion routine knew what to do , two of the drones had were struck by the volley, one exploding outright while the other fell back to the earth, its entire left half missing.

The third remaining drone turned to face the fast white machine, but she was already upon him. "Hello!" Sara said sweetly as she squeezed her finger around the trigger, the cockpit shuddering slightly as her autocannon opened up on the mech. A flurry of autocannon rounds collided with the center mass of the drone, forcing it out of the sky with the sheer force of the rounds. Had their been a human pilot in the cockpit, they likely would've been dead, but since it was a drone, it still attempted to shoot her down.

"and goodbye!" Sara called out as she finished the drone off by smashing her shield into the center of its torso, the long plasma claws, alongside the concentrated mass of the shield knocked the drone out of commission.

She brought her eyes back to the minimap- she was still out of range of the train's AA guns- she would avoid flying into that until after Robin or someone else finished them off. She'd settle for the drones for now. "That's three drones down." Sara reported over the team's comms. She didn't care for a response, but it was good for the team to keep account on the current number of enemies.

Something to listen to
Rear Admiral Victor Galahad
'The Lion of Ganymede'

Name: Victor T. Galahad
Age: 48
Gender: Male
Unit: Warfleet Charles, 5th Fleet 'The Fighting Fifths'

Rank: Rear Admiral
Role: Fleet Commander
Allegiance: The Dominion

Equipment:
  • Dominion Naval Officer Dress Uniform
  • A revolver sidearm
  • Photograph of wife and daughter

Appearance:
Tall, and straight-backed, Victor Galahad is well known as one of the tallest officers in the Charles Warfleet. Standing in at 6'4", he strikes an imposing, almost regal appearance, that is marred(or accented) by a missing eye and a myriad of scars over his face. His steel blue eyes are sharp and piercing, and seem to constantly scan and analyze whatever it looks at, and his deep brown hair contrasts the pale skin of one that spends a large amount of his life in space. He walks with a slight limp in his left leg, and constantly wears an eyepatch over a cybernetic prosthetic.

Personality:
Direct and to the point, this man is a sharp witted soldier that avoids beating around the bush and doesn't mince words. Brutally honest and blunt, Galahad's calm and collected demeanor is often mistaken for an uncaring and aloof disposition, and his cynicism and pessimist/realist attitude does little to change the opinions of others. Underneath his quiet persona lies an innate brilliance, a highly intuitive and calculative mind. Highly logical and orderly, Galahad is efficient and analytical, but often accused of lacking outward compassion. He is a competent tactician boasting considerable knowledge of theory, and decades of field experience. Strong willed and possessing an air of determination, Galahad likes to maintain awareness over every situation he's in and is quick on the ball, able to make snap judgements in combat and react to a constantly changing situation.

Despite his cold demeanor, Galahad is well respected by the men under his command- he demands a lot from his men, but wouldn't command them to do anything that he would be unwilling to do himself. Viewed as an inspiring war hero for aspiring Jovian officers, Galahad accepts nothing less than 100% effort from himself and those under his command.

History:
Victor Galahad was born the first son of Thomas and Amanda Galahad on Ganymede, the largest of Jupiter's moons, and the Capital of the Jovian Moons in the Sol System. His father was a retired engineer for the Dominion military- injuries had left him unable to continue service, while his mother worked as a nurse at the local hospital. Despite his humble family origins, Victor nevertheless excelled in school and earned excellent grades, earning himself a scholarship to the esteemed Mars Military Institute, one of the most, if not the most decorated military academy in the Sol System.

The Mars Military Institute was an extremely competitive area, success in this academy meant you were destined for greatness in military service as a true commander of the military. Failure, or even mediocrity meant you would find yourself in vitally important, but utterly boring staff and support positions. Victor proved that he had what it took and more time and time again. He became a thinker, able to think of solutions that others may not. Pitted against computer simulations programmed to understand even the most complicated battle tactics, he was trained in reading terrain, gathering information and even in espionage. Graduating at the top of his class, Victor was well received by the Dominion Military and was given his first command at the age of 22.

His first command was on the DNS Hectate, a blockade runner tasked with delivering needed supplies and munitions to beleaguered worlds and fleets on the front lines of the conflict. Despite being a minimally armed warship with a notoriously short life expectancy, Victor Galahad managed to lead his crew through 17 successful relief missions in his first few months of duty. Shortly after his first year of duty, Galahad was reassigned to the command of a patrol frigate tasked with hunting down pirates or providing support to larger naval vessels. He rose steadily through the ranks over the course of the next decade. During this time he proposed to and married his highschool sweetheart and had a daughter soon after.

While a successful and respected captain in his own right, Galahad didn't earn any particular notoriety until 5137, during the Siege of Ganymede. This was a battle which took place between the remnants of the 16th Battlegroup, consisting of a carrier, a cruisers and a pair of frigates, attempting to break through a massive blockade andsiege by a UDSN invasion fleet. Cut off from reinforcements and facing the destruction of both the battlegroup, as well as the loss of Ganymede, Galahad and his small command arrived to the aid of the the beleaguered Dominion ships. Forced into employing a risky plan, the Dominion forces resorted to using a diversionary tactic, the remaining frigates and cruiser rushed the enemy lines, while a fast attack cruiser under the direct command of Victor, escorted by a small unit of fighters swept wide around the enemy formations to destroy enemy capital ships and key structures. With most of the armament depleted, the Dominion forces used Victor's cruiser and his fighters to launch nuclear mines into the midst the enemy formations.

During the attack, Victor launched a total of twenty two nuclear warheads at the UDSN fleet from close proximity. The success of the Victor's tactics resulted in the destruction of the the UDSN flagship as well as several other capital ships. Without the leadership to coordinate the large fleet's action, the ensuing disarray allowed the remaining Dominion ships to hold out long enough for a relief fleet to rescue them. While the fleet had been decimated and reduced to a single carrier and cruiser, the UDSN had been beaten and Victor dubbed a war hero. Victor earned himself the title 'The Lion of Ganymede' that day.

Earning a medal for heroism, Victor was promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral and spent several years leading successful campaigns against the UDSN, and played a key role in the reconquering of the Vega System. With his highly successful 'Fighting Fifths', a small, but elite fleet made up primarily of Jovians, Victor is a force to be reckoned with, and was requested personally by the esteemed Imperial Duke Charles to aid him in the defence of the Galactic South of the Orion Arm.

Now operating directly under Imperial Duke Charles, Victor serves as the commander of one of the Duke's venerable Carrier fleets, leading his elite Fighting Fifths into battle at the Duke's whim.

5th Imperial Expeditionary Fleet

Rear Admiral Victor Galahad, also known as the 'Lion of Ganymede' is known for making a lot with a little. At his command is the venerable 5th Imperial Expeditionary Fleet, 'The Fighting Fifths'. Based in the Sol System, The 5th Fleet is an elite unit made up of mostly Jovians, and pulls many of its members from the various decorated Military Academies on Mars, Europa, and Earth. Under the command of Victor Galahad, this unit has seen many successful campaigns, from the Vega system to the Deneb and Callisto systems. With an extremely strict screening policy, only soldiers and officers of high caliber are considered for selection from transfer requests, and Victor Galahad has hand picked each and every captain that currently commands the ships within his fleet. The 5th Expeditionary Fleet is known for the tenacity of their officers, exemplary record, and combat prowess.

"I just figured you'd have more expensive tastes is all," Sara said with a noncommittal shrug. People in Hamasaki's position weren't exactly unheard of at the academy- there were plenty of kids whose parents owned major companies and manufacturers, a lot of them were in their own little rich-kids clique.

Sara watched Rio as she spoke- the tall girl was an interesting thing. She certainly looked the part of many of the rich kids on campus- many of which didn't spare Sara the time of day- scholarship kid and all. Sara waved away a waitress who came to take her order, the store looked busy enough that it'd be a while before she got any food, and she didn't feel particularly hungry. Sara tilted her head to the side in mild amusement as Rio asked Sara about what team she was on last year.

"I wasn't on a team last year." Sara explained, "I didn't have my own GEAR, so I couldn't be a part of the competitive scene even if I wanted to- they're not exactly affordable for someone of my economic status." she said with a sigh, looking out the window.

"I spent most of last year test piloting test models for different manufacturers. I think I did the trial runs for your family's 'PARA' line GEARs. I tested with Lockheed Martin last winter and over the summer they offered to lend me my Valkyrie for extended stress testing."

"I did watch a lot of the matches though- what about you?"
oh yeah. My turn. I'll get something up soon
@Duoya@Liotrent@Feyblue@Pathfinder Anyone wanna kick off the train battle?
Maverick breathed hard as he drove his sword through the center of another of the little golems, cleaving it in half. Bringing his armored boot up to his chest, he kicked another across the room, bowling to a few more of them. The golems were sturdy and strong, but their small size and slow movements made them relatively easy to hold at bay- at least until they were overwhelmed. Shooting a look over his shoulder, Maverick kicked one last golem away before he sprinted up the stairs.

Bounding up the steps with Archimedes, Maverick paused at the door, holding it open for Urkwia before he slammed the door shut. "Sparky! Lock it!" he called out as he shoved his shoulder against the door. He could hear the sound of stone and concrete falling and tumbling, so Urkwia's water seemed to be working for now, but he'd feel more comfortable if the door was firmly locked behind them. The little companion program chirped happily as it floated in front of the door, a small interface appearing as it interacted with the doorknob and locked it.

With the door good and shut, Maverick breathed out in relief and joined Urkwia and Archimedes at the laptop, his helmet opening up to reveal his face again, now that the threat was over. Reading the text himself, Maverick found himself shrugging, not totally sure what to do, and not particularly caring what the Hacker had to say- All the hackers they had run into had some sort of superiority complex- As Archimedes pointed out. It was the main reason why these Collisions always looked like artistic representations of places instead of a drab and simple grid-zone. The youngest and least experienced of the three, Maverick generally found himself gravitating toward's the decisions of the others.

"We're not gonna get anything done just standing here. We oughta just keep going, and roll with the punches as they come."
I guess I'll put up my application first.

Dropped my character to a Rear Admiral instead of a Vice Admiral- seeing as his fleet is considerably smaller than ~200. Also added flavor text for the 5th Expeditionary Fleet, added a few more ships/ship classes, and some listening music.
yokay!
I'm kind of wary to press on with the bandit train until @Pathfinder manages to get a post in- he didn't post last round so I feel kinda bad
