Current I think watching fight scenes can help in general terms with writing combat, since it can give you an idea of flow and choreography.

At least if you're writing something you know, with knights.

I mean, depends on what you're writing, and the tone and theme of what you're writing. Trained armored knights were legitimately monstrous on the battlefield, so looking up how they fought helps.

As much as there's a lot of reasons twitter sucks, I genuinely don't want to see it die for the sake of all the artists who now rely on it. Hoping the shithead stops trying to directly administrate.

roleplayerguild.com/posts/5… If anyone's up for fighting some kaiju, why not try out my new RP, Godzilla: YATAGARUSU?

The Beach

CrocoKill roared with irritation when it realized its water blast failed to pierce the armored hero, when its attention returned from the annoyance who had struck it in the back. Now long past words, it hunched forward again and lunged forward, tossing sand up as it bounded across the beach.

Only to be greeted with explosions, as multiple missiles struck it directly as it lunged for its target. The force sent the beast tumbling backwards, vanishing into a cloud of smoke as it did. For a few moments, it was hard to see what had happened. But then, as the smoke cleared, it was obvious that the explosions had managed to do some damage. Scales had blown apart, revealing tender, bleeding flesh and burned patches. CrocoKill lunged back to its feet, eyes wild with rage.

Market District

For a few moments, Reika looked on in confusion as the other girl mentioned how there were shady people around. After a pause, the smallish redheaded girl turned to look around, and her eyes fell on... oh. There were a bunch of guys, right near the bank. And... wow, as she looked at them more, she realized there were definitely some weird, angular shapes under their coats. Like they had something on under there. Reika took a deep breath. It didn't take a genius to figure out what was about to happen. They were hiding some kind of weaponry under those coats, and they were planning on using it to rob the bank. Take people's hard-earned money, hurt people in the name of greed...

She clenched one fist, then turned swiftly to the other girl.

"Don't worry!" she said trying to sound as confident as she could, "I'm sure it's all going to be okay!"

With that, she turned on her heel... and hovered quickly to the nearest alleyway she could. She couldn't let anyone see what she was about to do... she still had to keep her identity secret! Not all superheroes did, but.. she couldn't handle it if people started asking her questions or anything...

Port District

Kiko stood firm, remaining at attention even as her eyes fell on the pair of robots approaching her. They were more knight robots, and... Kiko didn't feel guilty, not as she reminded herself that they were just, well... they were automatons. They were more like a tractor then her. Which was a shame! But it also meant that, well, she didn't need to worry about cutting them in half or anything, like she did that first one. Kiko stood at the ready, eyes travelling from the robots to the man who was controlling them. Well... boy who was controlling them. Her blue energy blade hummed as she held her mind up, sliding her foot to the side. She could fly over them and try to detain the supercriminal directly, too...

"My name is Machine Doll Kiko!" Kiko introduced herself, as prompted, jerking her thumb towards her chest. Regardless of the path she took, she was pursuing justice! Whatever these supplies were, they were probably really important to the people they were going to! And people could have gotten hurt! All kinds of really bad things could have happened, and could still happen! So this was an important duty of justice, there was no doubt about it. "And I'm a hero!"
@Great Sogeking: Hmm... my only reservation here is that the other Esper currently in-setting has a much narrower skillset(though she's also enormously powerful). With that in mind it would follow that Espers can only do one thing.

@Weird Tales: Oh, I forgot. I'll talk to GS and we'll figure out a judgement on it today.

@Poke: Alright. Just wanted to make sure so I didn't feel too bad for a low-rank hero slicing them up. Even if she's rather tough, she's still kind of a goof.

@Kouki: It would be, I'd have to see what you have in mind.
The Beach

"Raaagh!"

CrocoKill snarled as a fist slammed into its chin. It staggered back for a moment, before its yellow eyes fixed on the armored hero who had delivered that blow. It was the first time a human had ever managed to lay a hand on it! ... Granted it was the first time it had ever fought a human, but still. It was furious! The crocodilian monster lept back several meters, sand tossed up under its clawed feet as it hunched down on all fours. Its throat inflated, displaying that it had some sort of pouch in its neck... and when it opened its mouth, and blast of water, strong enough to tear through steel and obliterate flesh, tore from its gaping maw.

At least, until something hit it in the back. It was hard enough to be aggravating and painful, but CrocoKill's back was hardly easy to injure. Like the animal it resembled, the monster's back was armored, and difficult to harm. Crocokill snarled and waved one hand in a bid to backhand its assailant.

Market District

The girl had a really bad reaction... She' screwed up really bad, hadn't she? Reika had blundered right into the other girl and she seemed really upset... Reika stared at the ground, looking away from the other girl as she complained, and mentioned she was 'letting her off lightly', but... that wasn't really okay, was it? The girl didn't know, but... Reika was supposed to be a hero, and heroes didn't just clumsily bump into people and stuff, right? With how fast she was going, it actually could have hurt the other girl, too! Reika shuffled her feet, awkwardly, small humming sounds coming from her hoverskates. After taking another deep breath, she looked over her shoulder at the girl as she was passing.

"I-Is... is there any way I c-can make it up to you?" she asked. She was in a hurry, but... Reika felt wrong if she didn't make any kind of effort. She had to. Being a hero was about doing the right thing, right? "... S-sorry, I just... sh-should have been paying more attention, u-um... a-and with these hoverskates I could h-have hurt you!"

It was hard talking to people sometimes, but... she really felt bad about this!

Meanwhile, the figures in longcoats seemed to be... milling about, not particularly doing anything unusual... but still, something seemed rather fishy.
Miyu, Rather Worn out in the City

For a while, Miyu didn't respond. It was rather quickly apparent that the reason for this was that, in spite of her not exactly being pleased about being picked up again, she couldn't really handle the sudden fatigue she'd been hit with and had briefly nodded off. It was only when Takeyoshi put her down that she awoke with a start, sitting and rubbing her eyes. After a few moments, she realized what she had been doing and shot to her feet.

"Before you ask. I wasn't sleeping. Or tired. Or anything like that," Miyu said, quickly, placing her hands on her hips. She watched as the tengu leaned against the wall, looking rather exhausted himself, and raised an eyebrow a little. He still had to get her candy! ... Though, when he was this worn out... getting candy might not have been a good idea... the tiny blonde girl huffed to herself with annoyance. Of course her candy would have to be delayed... but she guessed getting rest was important to him, too. A rather more serious though crossed her mind as she looked back in the direction they'd come from.

"... I hope some people got out of there okay... those stupid dogs shouldn't have been allowed to get to anyone!"

Mimori, Heroics in Action

"... My name is Takahashi Mimori," Mimori introduced herself, eyes remaining mostly on the woman. Thankfully, it seemed that she was no longer intending to fight them. Instead, she was more concerned about their strange circumstances and the things that were going on. At least, until the tendrils appeared... and some sort of strange mob of creatures emerged... Mimori quickly found herself no choice but to run with the others. Still... she hung back as much as she could, swallowing her fear. She had to make sure, after all, that no-one got left behind.

Eventually they reached some kind of... safe haven, and without any hesitation Mimori quickly found some sort of broadsword, with a plain hilt but a decently sharp blade.

She was on guard, even though the woman who had introduced herself as Charlotte said they were safe.
@deanmachin: It's Sunday, so no class. ^^;
I figured the robots were mooks who weren't too tough to deal with. ^^; Please say otherwise if that's not the case, [@Poke}.
Market District

It was hard to keep focused on a lot of things, thinking about the opportunity that she'd missed out on. And... well, at least she wasn't focused on all the people starting at her... Reika's eyes were rather downcast, even as she approached Meiko Mart. Of course, she was moving rather quickly given her hoverskates, and fast movement combined with not looking where you were going was generally a recipe for disaster. Reika let out a yelp as she collided with... something, her hoverskates keeping her upright even as she almost fell over onto her rear. Forcing her legs back into cooperation, and ensuring she was stable after a few moments, the dark redheaded girl looked up to see what she'd bumped into. Or rather, who.

It was another girl, one she definitely didn't know. Short, grey-ish hair, blue eyes... frantically, Reika made to apologize.

"I-I'm s-sorry! I d-didn't... I w-wasn't... i-it's my fault I'm s-sorry..." Reika trailed off after a few moments, looking down and away. It was embarrassing... and it really was all her fault. She hadn't been watching where she was going, and she'd knocked right into the other girl like that. She hoped she hadn't somehow hurt her, at least... that would be terrible. She was supposed to be a hero, even if she wasn't doing anything heroic right now. Reika didn't want to hurt some random person... it was really, really wrong if she did!

"... A-are you okay?"

The Beach

Just as CrocoKill was about to swipe one clawed hand down and shred the schoolgirl to ribbons, something struck it in the back. With a snarl, it whipped around, fanged maw dripping saliva. The braided schoolgirl took this opportunity to stumble to her feet and run into the waiting arms of her parents, who quickly fled.

"Raagh... are you a hero...?" it cocked its head to the side, eyeing the armored figure with some level of confusion amidst its rage. "I didn't know that humans came with exoskeletons... do you taste like crab under there? Rrrgg... let's find out!"

The humanoid crocodilian creature lunged forward with a roar. Of course, it had never seen power armor before. It simply assumed that humans came in forms with shells, now.

Port District

There were people in danger at the port...

The blonde girl took a deep breath. Of course, technically she didn't need to breath. But it had been a design feature, in order to make her as human as possible, among many others. There were people in danger at the port! And at the beach, but she was closer to the port... And besides, she was certain plenty of heroes would show up to help out! Even if this was a B-Class villain by the reports... that didn't matter. Even if she was a D-Class Hero, she had to do her best no matter what!

"Machine Doll... ARMOR ON!"

There was a flash of light and sound. Kiko's clothing seemed to shred apart. Thankfully, light was quick to obscure the possibility of exposure, and her combat bodysuit swiftly formed over her frame. Then it was followed, piece by piece, by armor and weaponry. An enormous shield, an energy blade, plating on her arms and legs, boosters to allow her to fly... it clamped into place over her form. Kiko took another breath as the light faded, displaying her in full combat mode.

In the middle of a busy street. Needless to say, the civilians around her were rather surprised. But Kiko rocketed into the air without pause! The wind whipped against her synthetic skin, carrying her hair, as she tore through the sky as fast as she could. Sure, skill-wise she was only D-Class... but a lot of heroes started out that low, or even lower! She had to carry out justice, to help people and keep anyone from being hurt! That was what being a hero meant!

It wasn't long before the port came into view. And... there were... robot knights? Robot knights! But they weren't the kind of robot Kiko and her "big sister" were...

"Haaah!"

With a shout, she zoomed down as fast as she could. Her energy blade crackled blue from its base and flashed, slicing one of the robots in two. She was D-Class... but she could do this! She was a hero!

"... Stealing..." she began, raising one hand to point squarely at the perpetrator, a boy on some terribly-painted submarine, "... is wrong!"
  • Name: KKR-V2(Kodona Kikai Ningyo Version Two), translated as Advanced Machine Doll Version Two. Her given name is Kiko.
  • Hero Name: Machine Doll Kiko
  • Age: Physically and mentally, she is a robotic replica of a sixteen-year-old girl. However, she has existed in an operational, completed state for roughly eight months.
  • Gender: Female
  • Appearance: Wearing the undersuit that acts as the base for her weaponry. She is blonde, with light skin, and green eyes. The suit is mostly white. Kiko is around 5'1. Her exposed arm and leg joints are the only things that would indicate she is a robot to an observer(hatches in her back are invisible when shut), and exist due to the fact that Kiko's larger joints caught the synthetic skin in them.
  • Superhero Appearance: I can't draw it too well, so have something that fits.
  • Personality: Kiko is a cheerful, friendly girl. As an advanced AI, she has a full emotional range, and her most commonly expressed emotions are happiness and cheer. She loves meeting new people, trying new things, and in general experiencing just about anything pleasant. Kiko also enjoys food(thankfully her body can burn it as fuel) a great deal, and loves making ramen for her friends. All of them. Every time she makes a new friend, she makes them a bowl of ramen. No matter what. Kiko is strongly convinced that she should try talking to anyone, even enemies, to see if she can get them to surrender. Only someone truly evil would ever earn lethal treatment from her, and even then she would try and talk them into reconsidering and surrendering first.
Kiko is also extremely devoted to justice, holding an incredibly strong desire to protect the innocent and stop those who would harm others for their own sake and do evil. However, Kiko is incredibly naive and unaware of the world around her, and is easily fooled by white lies. However, she can also be remarkably perceptive in a fight and figure out battle strategies and bluffs. She has a tendency to jump into things too quickly, at the same time.
  • Equipment: Kiko is capable of summoning a suit of advanced armor. This armor protects her body further, and grants her flight capabilities. It is equipped with an energy sword capable of inflicting lethal or nonlethal damage depending on the settings. She is also equipped with a beam cannon and a set of small missiles with the armor activated.
Kiko can trigger different modes of her armor. For now, this is Gear Blue, a ranged form constructing a set of floating cannons that can join into a much larger one, and Gear Red, a melee form focusing all power into her sword and detaching most of her armor to add speed. She can also divert power to various areas of the armor in its base state. Her use of the armor is constantly monitored by the Kimura institute in Japan.
  • Abilities: As KKR-V2, the second in a line of extremely human-like robots, Kiko's body is composed of an incredibly lightweight durable alloy frame beneath a layer of life-like synthetic skin. Her body replicates a human girl's, to the point where even close observation would render no discrepancies. Well, aside from the exposed joints of her legs and arms. She is incredibly durable, capable of withstanding high heat and pressure. She can continue to function even after losing limbs, though systems in her torso are liable to damage.
Kiko's AI is contained in a black box inside her head, capable of withstanding even extremely powerful explosives that would obliterate the rest of Kiko's body. Each limb is strong enough to crush concrete and bend solid steel from impact. Using a highly advanced technology, Kiko can summon a protective armor, which also grants her flight capabilities. Finally, Kiko has a module that taps into "emotional output". In essence, the more fired up she becomes, the more powerful she can potentially become, though this can be hazardous to her body.
  • Skills: Kiko is programmed with a full understanding of Japanese and English, though she is less used to English. She is also incredibly capable at making all varieties of ramen.
  • Brief Backstory: Kiko is based on a sixteen-year-old girl of the same name, who died tragically in a car accident. Her father, part of the project, modeled the new KKR-V2 on his daughter as a result, and advocated for increasing her firepower. His motivation was, in fact, so that his new "daughter" would never face the same fate. Built as a mechanical hero created to defeat threats to the world, Kiko was completed eight months ago. Her first deployments were as a normal schoolgirl. Her very first deployment ended with her stopping a truck with her bare hands when it threatened to crash into another girl. Roughly two months ago, she confronted and defeated a D-Class supercriminal in downtown Ginmura.
  • Hero Rank: D-Rank
  • Theme Song: (Need to pick one!)
Really glad to see people are enjoying the RP so far.
