> Well, I kinda understand your idea but this is simply not how it works, and it would kinda throw a big middle finger to the consistency of the events to come. First, you don't just casually stroll around and find a low level demon. Without any prior experience, it's pretty much stumbling while blindfolded on ice, hoping to find some kind of life form. And you can't really know how powerful it is, since demons don't really have any ways to respond, and you can't really gauge it's power. And if it does respond, you know you majorly fucked up. Spirits don't usually do benevolent things unless it is good for them in the long run. > > That is an interesting idea that you have though, and I could see it working. In fact, it can fit in very well in the main story. But as I said, your starting state has to be, at the very least, unaltered. Seeking lost and forgotten knowledge will be the first major story arc for the mages. There is nothing wrong with your character losing said humanity, she just has to start with said humanity. Well, I'm not the game master so I didn't really knew how much this would mess with consistency of things to come. And yes, not benevolent by any means, obviously it wants Mastrix to be able to bring him to the mortal realm but you can't just give some instructions and woop de-do, so the girl's mostly a tool bag. But ok, I'll edit tomorrow.
Well, I guess you got where I am going with that girl, ancient mage decides to fuck with the beyond to escape certain death and goes around thinking: Heeeeey, if I take the traits of the demons and eventually lose myself in him, it works both ways! Finds himself a low level demon to 'Take control of him', making a spirit in his image. Is that spirit an ancient mage or just a sham? Who knows. Anyways, said cosmic entity is really eager to get some vengeance going and goes on to possess some mage more receptive to him. Maybe her parents tried to dable in the Beyond as they were in the run, they died. But the thing is that it isn't her seeking to open fuck with the beyond, its him trying to fuck with reality. So I'd argue that she isn't Over Power super high level as much as the guy on the other side sometimes assume control to do things. She doesn't work by knowledge, but by instinct as she after all had little in the way of training, and of course, using the focus of said ancient mage really helps the guy telling her what to do. So, any ways I could make that fit in or should I just do something else?
I hope this isn't too mary-sue-y. And also, this new formatting is shit. Name: [Mastrix of the Scar](http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2013/174/7/e/flem_ber_mage_by_suburbbum-d6adjob.jpg) Race: Human Age: 19 Alignment: Rogue Mage Personality: - She hates the paladin, considering them responsible for all that is wrong in the world, blaming them for her life of misery that could have been spent ruling like a divinity back in the days of old where magic was a benediction and not a curse, they were no worthy enemies but rather theft that use their own form of magic against the rightful owners of the world. She holds very little respect for normal people, silent spectators destined to be ruled by an overlord or another and as for other mages, until proven otherwise they are cowards without an ounce of ambition. Her world is that of hate and despise but still even with her fancy armor on, she remembers that the paladins crushed them long ago and that she is still a kid sucking humidity of wall and eating insects to survive while the bastards eat meat and drink fresh water in their castles and so she never underestimates an enemy. Bio: Nothing is left of her childhood as she was raised in a community of wandering mages that refused to bow down to the Paladins until they were exterminated by a raid. She fled in the wilderness being only 7 years old but already before her parents died, the mages could tell there was something wrong going on with her. Some said her parents traded her soul for powers with a demon, that she contacted one herself, being a rather impressive caster at a young age or that in her dream world one linked himself with her, but still even if she was mostly an unruly kid throwing tantrums all the time, she still had surprising moments of lucidity or 'Hunches' allowing her to find ways to survive in the wild. Eventually she found that the best way to survive the onslaught of paladins hunting for her kind was to hide where it was too dangerous for them to hunt her. The scars proved to be, against all odds, the place where she grew. She found there ancient things and fed on the few mushrooms and herbs growing in dank caves, until one of her 'hunches' led her to a corpse. An ancient nameless mage that died long ago but that still held on its corpse its possessions. Another corpse to loot for her but as she gazed into the past to watch what happened to him she found one of the lords of old, a mage of great power that had fought the Paladins and in this she found, as a silent observer, some inspiration. There had to be more to life than eating moss and ambushing adventurers, no? Despite being a bony, borderline anorexic survivor of a inhospitable land, she done the armor she found and began to imitate this man from long ago. Initial spells/techniques: - Eldritch Fire: A fire that slowly burns living things, making a large amount of smoke, is actually painless but will still slowly melt the flesh anyway and cripple or disfigure you. Land where this fire has burned may no longer bare life again and where large patch of land have been destroyed, attacks from beasts of the Scars are much more frequent. - Curse: A slow and perverse thing, Mastrix can link herself to another mortal and force her wounds away on him. She still receives the initial wound and if mortal, it will kill her, but otherwise she will heal at an increased rate by making the cursed one slowly die. Paladins may use negation magic to make her suffer through the link but the effects will be felt by both parties. Considering Mastrix doesn't have the constitution of a Paladin however she prefers not to abuse of this ability with them as most likely she'd die before the paladin gives up. - Echo from the past: Some double sight of sort, with some concentration Mastrix can have some visions of before, although this isn't always done of her own volition. This can provide insight on secret passages or secrets thought to be lost. She however will never get used to most of the ancient mages having magic to detect divination and invisible spectators that occasionally, despite being dead for so long, notice her. Skills: - Eidetic Memory: Mastrix has an almost perfect memory and remembers each and every rocks of the Scar she lives in, each words that were ever spoken to her. This means that she also has a knack for imitating basic spells and remembering their casting. - Inhabitant of the Scar: Generally deadly environment where 36 things can kill you only in the immediate square meter next to you? What people would call an hostile environment where no man can set foot is the definition of home for her and in the Scars she lives as easily as a paladin would live in his castle. The reverse however isn't as true. - Omnivorous Cannibal: Sucking the humidity out of a mole in a dank cave or eating another human are only normal for her and while this may seem like obscene to others, she is still proud of her ability to survive in the most barren wasteland. Her ability to see a disemboweled human and feel hunger also means that very little in the way of gore and violence can phase her. - Lost knowledge: Seeing visions of the past and stumbling on old spell books and scrolls in the scars made her a veritable library of knowledge thought lost forever . Combat strategy: - She will lure her opponents in dangerous places, corner them to then slowly immolate them and when they are at their weakest, she'll link herself with them watching them slowly die and all of this as much as possible without revealing herself. Like most mages of old, she can't defend herself for crap in close combat and will try to avoid it at all cost. Still, she likes to 'extend the pleasure' and isolate her target, making it die slowly and gloat in the shadows. Afterward it isn't rare for her to eat their heart, believing that the nature of paladin mana allows her to expend on her own mana pool by consuming the seat of a paladin's power. Ki-Tan users are a delight for her she'll get out of her way to consume. Unique equipment: - Ring of the Master: A simple ring of silver that gives her limited control over some of the beasts in the Scars. It doesn't allow her to give order as much as it allows her to lure the monsters in a certain direction, leaving their murderous ways do the rest. - Staff of Twilight: Those with knowledge in the ancient mages will remember this focus coming from a mage of incredible power that with its armies and magic carved the very land. An artifact thought to be lost in the destruction of the mage that would be no means befit a neophyte like Mastrix. - Bone Armor: An enchanted armor giving the wearer practical immunity from fire and also an intimidating stature. Still, the armor is made to make the wearer imposing and protect a mage in a duel against other magic users and while it can somewhat protect against a paladin's magic, it's too light to give practical protection against physical blows.
Oh god, this is so weird.

Of course, he has a dislike of the Jews for the same reasons as Hitler, the fact that they are bankers above all, but still his opinion on the subject is that they should just be bared to enter education, politics and banking as to prevent their influence. Above all however, he is staunchly catholic in saying that 'Jewish bankers wouldn't be a problem if Germans didn't meddle with usury in the first place'. Otherwise some consider him as a weirdo with some issue due to his habit of trying to make himself feel at home where he is. He calls it an habit from the trenches and so he likes to give the floor a broom sweep, find a rug, a few chairs and a good book, a tidy little living room in the middle of the ruins of the battlefield, even add a potted plant or two if possible. He looks at the civilians more like neighbors rather than enemies, considering that this isn't a war between Germans and Russians, but rather between National Socialists and Communists, the people around them only incidentally being on the communist side. Still, on the same logic he doesn't hesitate to put a bullet in the head of Russian Commissars as even if he doesn't consider himself a Nazi, he'd rather live under a Fascist rather than a Communist state. Background: Son of a minor Freiherr (Baron) in Austria-Hungary, he enlisted as soon as he could in the Austrian army to fight for Emperor and Country as a hussar in the Cavalry. At first he still had some kind of romanticized view of war but was quickly brought back to reality as the fight against Russia went on. In early 1917 he was captured by the Tsarist forces and had the luck to be in one of the better prisoner camp around rather than in Siberia building railways. Still, things were bleak but as the communist rebellion became more and more generalized through the Russian ranks, he managed to leave with a group of fellow Austrians and go back to the Australian lines after 3 days of marching without anyone even trying to stop them. He went back to the front with a medal for his Valiant escape but not for long, the armistice ending the war less than a year later. Still, he had a taste of the real war on the Western front and became an advocate for Austrian neutrality immediately after. Still things were not perfect, the Austrian Empire was dismembered and it wasn't good to be an Austrian in Yugoslavia. At this point his mother died and his father had become a monarchist reactionary crusader. Without money of his own or the possibility to have a real job, he joined the counter-revolutionary white movement in Russia. This was where he met his wife, Veronika Tolstoi, eldest daughter of a family of nobles trying to flee communism. At this point the campaign was failing as the foreign allies of the Tsarists were less and less willing to spend energy on this after a costly world war and so he suggested, and his step family reluctantly accepted, to flee. Most the family moved to Great Britain but having proposed to Veronika, she followed him to Austria where his father had gotten killed by the police. With all his brothers dead in the War, this left him as the sole inheritor. He had no land but still received a hefty amount of money held in Swiss Bank accounts. Trying to look toward the future with his wife, he had many children, followed up on studies in architecture and managed to find stable employment, thanks a lot to some friends he had made in the war. When the war began, he actually managed to shield himself and his children (Well, most, his eldest was really in the whole Reich thing and got himself killed in Africa) for quite some time by playing the 'Race Traitor' card on himself and his child who were no pure Aryan due to their mother being a Slavic Mongrel (Something he finds hilarious since he rarely sees anyone with more Aryan and blonde features such as her). Still, this only went so far as to protect his Children, he himself was still 100% Germanic and was called to arms. He made arrangements for his family to move in the house of one of his cousins in the Austrian Alps to protect them from the constant bombardments in Vienna and joined without trying to dodge the draft, not wanting to attract more attention than needed on himself and his family. Do we really need a whole bunch of people to start with? Why not begin with 3 and have the unit separated, if more people join then we find our other men later a sole survivor joins up with us, another unit is merged with ours to reform the company and so forth. I do think it is futile to try to have such a large RP anyways with the current state of the guild. If they like what they see, the players will join naturally, etc.
I'm just wondering if there's the possibility of playing a mage that survived the purges, one that wants to go back to the good old days at that.

@Wernher: I'd say that you briefly being part of the White Movement in Russia would give you enough justification to both know the culture and having learned Russian, that and being able to have met your Russian wife there too. It matches well with your hate for Communism. But that is just my idea.

Edit: Slightly more bearable doesn't make it much better, the conditions were pretty bad, even if you were in the best camp available. I am aware you never stated that you had it easy or hard though, but i'd figure you may have had some rough times is all.

Of course. it's all reasonable and I'll make edits once this reach the OOC stage.
"The Russian governments inability to supply the POWs in their camp with supplies was due to inadequate resources and bureaucratic rivalries. However, the condition in the POW camps varied, some condition were more bearable then others."

As it said varying from one to the other, I assumed that some would be better. Overall, I'd say it was luck to find an officer sympathetic to the conventions of war and like I said, who was still chivalrous.

And yes, British rations through the Lease

Odd yes, but life is full of little odd things no? It's not like it would have been a generalized thing, it's the whole Russian civil war thing and this coupled with the fact that as stated before hand, said officer would have been generous to the PoW would make for a likely Mutiny. The imperial family captured, St-Petersbourg falling to the Bolsheviks and so forth. Of course it's a stupid decision but what's best? Now that the man's family is with him on the south-west Russian front, should he make them escape through an hostile turkey? Send them through Siberia in the far east? Make them go north to try and find a convoy that could somehow go to Britain pass Germany? I agree this is an almost silly decision, but between this, an even more hazardous journey or waiting for the Revolution to spread to his men, it was the choice between a bad and worst decision. If you want me to change, I can, no problem (Marry after the war and have a legitimate escape, etc.), but while Romantic, I think it makes for a good conversation around a beer, and justifies someone speaking Russian.
