2nd option certainly sounds the most promising though Explorers sounds fun too. With that being said, you could still merge the universes somewhere down the line.
@WXer If you can come up with a good reason, you could probably convince me to start with a pistol.

Well, I'm currently leaning towards a man-at-arms working for a merchant guild that sells firearms. Just shoot and pistolwhip his way to glory, convincing the nobles to buy his guild's wares and become rich enough from commissions and retire.
Yup, still here. Was kinda waiting for your posts on the character tabs before posting my character since the initial spot(s) usually go to the GM.

Count me in as well. Heck, I hope my character will be worthy enough to have a flintlock pistol included in his starting inventory.
Here's the first draft for my character. Since a character sheet wasn't posted, I might have missed something important so do let me know if that's the case.

As for the setting, are there any settlements or structures outside the tower? Like, a shipyard next to the shore or a keep that guards the path towards the tower?
Hey there, I'm interested in joining this as well.

The main character I have in mind is an instructor who's concerned with the preservation of knowledge. He'd most likely be a former adventurer who can no longer travel so he sought out Vysantha in order to help train the next generation of heroes and make sure that what remains of the arcane arts continues to flourish.
I could have sworn I posted that I was dropping out but might as well make it official. Though, I sort of assume the 3 day rule would have killed my character anyway. Sorry if I held this up, life sort of got in the way in a really fantastical fashion (having to move continents for work being one of them)

The serene morning's peace would be broken by the roaring engine of a street racer pulling up to Mather High's parking lot. "This is your stop, kid." From the front passenger seat, an over-dressed Eddie would step out and take a deep breath. It wasn't the first time he had been here at the school with this exact same car but the empty hallways and faculty offices made it less intimidating. A new sensation of fear and excitement started to take hold of him as he stood in awe of the school. However, as he stepped away from his ride, his uncle Joel would speed away while blasting classic rock and waving goodbye. "Heh. Lucky that traffic patrol hasn't had their morning coffee yet." Eddie remarked with a smirk, as his uncle clearly violated the school zone speed limits. This small act of defiance against the law was enough to jump start his confidence once more.

As he entered the school, he would shoot a few glances to his left and right before proceeding to the locker area. Some members of the busy student body would take notice of Eddie's eccentric wardrobe but he paid them no mind as he kept his head high while not making eye contact. However, as he reached his locker, he would initially struggle to get the combination right and would make a minor commotion as he tried to pry his assigned storage open. It would take him a moment to regain his composure lest he simply try to kick the lock off. In the end, he would overcome this unforeseen obstacle with only a few moments before the assembly started. Hastily leaving his blazer inside the locker, Eddie would try to blend in with the mass of students as they funneled into the auditorium.

Throughout the presentation, he would maintain a stern face but applaud when appropriate. While school spirit was apparently popular among the students, Eddie merely felt awkwardness from the skits. Specially the rapping librarian's. He didn't have plans to visit the library at all and that merely cemented his decision. The only announcement he had taken genuine interest in was Mr. Lehrer's Social Conscience Program and only because he had to take it. Being the new kid and a late enrollment didn't leave much in the choice of classes, he figured. With the start of the year assembly firmly behind him, it was off to his first class: Biology.

His first class was pretty much a blur but Eddie would like to think he did okay. After all, he somehow managed to make two friends along the way. Not too bad, specially since it was first period.

"Edd! When are you bringing around that Challenger from last week and this morning again?! It's not in the lot, I checked, but don't think you can hide it from me, brother. I know you too well, haha!" exclaimed one of his new acquaintances. Tall and loud but somehow charming in a way. This was Frederick.

"I don't think that was his, Fred. Like he said, his uncle is Guy Garvin so that must have been a supercar that they were working on. The owner is most likely from Burberry Heights since you obviously can't afford to even ride in it!" Snide yet well-intentioned, the other was Richmond. The two would boil down to an argument while Eddie would utter a quick farewell under his breath, excusing himself since he couldn't afford to be late to any of his classes. After all, this new school might as well be a maze. Before Eddie could leave though, Frederick would tell him one more thing.

"Meet us at the school lot during lunch. We're gonna get burgers or something since the cafeteria menu sucks."

A man of his word, Eddie would show up at their designated spot during lunch time but somehow expected a catch from the delinquent duo. Once he got there, it was all too clear when he saw the souped-up Civic with Frederick in the driver's seat and Richmond in the front passenger seat. He would reluctantly get in and strap himself as they exited from the school grounds. They would then speed off to a drive-thru and get burgers, with their Chinese compatriot ordering with a thick accent on purpose to sate their crude humour. As they pulled up to the pay window, Richmond would switch over to a more refined cadence as they held back their laughter, Eddie with his eyes closed and facing away the entire time. Afterwards, the trio would race around the block while eating lunch as if they were at a racetrack. This day was perfect.

With directions from his new friends, Eddie would find himself at his last class' designated room. He would await for a few others to take their seats before taking one himself but made sure he wouldn't be last to sit either. None of the faces seemed familiar but he could tell that they seem to have a lot on their minds. Even Jonas looked like he had a hidden agenda in mind. When the promise of equivalent credit came up, Eddie suspicions rose up once again. Just like before, there had to be a catch.

As the question was posed to the class, he would raise his hand to answer. With the murder and his past experiences in mind, he would state the initial response to the question: "Man tries to justify his crimes. Animals don't care."

A well-groomed young buck whose perennial babyface betrays the persona he cultivates. His hair is always swept to one side using a fine-tooth comb and kept in place with pomade. Eddie also has an inability to grow facial hair though the pronounced cleft on his chin more than makes up for it. Aside from that, the only other noticeable feature on his face are various persisting scratch marks near his eyes.

As for his choice of wardrobe, it usually consists of a floral blazer and shirt combo complimented by ripped jeans. To finish his ensemble, he always has a pair of shades with him.

Hyperhumans are still men. No genetic mutation can wipe away all the flaws of humanity.

In the case of Mr. and Mrs. Brigandi, finding out about their son's Hype-gene mutation was a major turning point in their lives. Slowly, they accumulated wealth through less than legitimate means with Eddie's help. Gambling, swindling, grifting, racketeering, and just about any other get rich scheme you can think of - they had their hands on those honey pots. It wasn't long before their lifestyle choices caught up to them.

Eddie soon moved in with relatives who lived in New Hampshire. His uncle Joel owned an auto repair shop while aunt Rhea worked at a clothing store over at the local outdoor mall. For once, his life was on track to be normal. But's its never that simple. Nightmares began to set in. Soon, they developed into daytime hallucinations. Creeping shadows at the corner of his eyes that disappear the moment he turns his head.

Cursed eyes. Taunting him in every moment, waking or otherwise. It wasn't long before the idea to gouge them out crossed his mind. Even though he concealed the attempts to the best of his abilities, it was apparent to his guardians who actually cared about his well-being. After a visit to the hospital and a few therapy sessions later, Eddie then found himself enrolled at Mather Memorial. The recommendation came from his doctor, stating that the faculty staff was experienced in guiding at risk youth.

Now as the new kid in school, he's hoping for a fresh start. While old habits do die hard, Eddie is ready to take on the world with a fresh new perspective.

//ABILITIES:
◼ EDDIE'S HYPER-ABILITY| Redacted.

//SKILLS:
◼ SLEIGHT OF HAND| Eddie is quick with his hands from all the tricks his family pulled with their small time cons. Cards are his favorite tools to display his swiftness.

◼ AMATEUR TRADESMAN| Picking up some tricks from his uncle Joel, Eddie now can tell the difference between a bolt wrench and an adjustable spanner. Turns out it isn't really much.

//LIMITATIONS:
◼ HYPER-ABILITY LIMITATION| Redacted.

◼ SECOND HYPER-ABILITY LIMITATION| Redacted.

//WEAKNESSES:
◼ HYPER-ABILITY WEAKNESS| Redacted.

◼ TROUBLEMAKER| The subdued life is not for Eddie. Though he has promised Aunt Rhea that he'll keep out of mischief, the urge to express himself through devious means can seldom win out. However, he makes sure no one physically gets hurt in his pranks.

◼ A MODERN DAY ROBIN HOOD| A fool and his money are soon parted. For someone with the means to accelerate this like Eddie, he can't help but uphold his duty against the oppressive elites.

▼ N O T E S:

//SUPPORTING CAST:

▼ ALLIES
UNCLE JOEL GARVIN| His mother's younger brother. Joel owns and operates his own garage. While he has no kids of his own, taking care of trouble making Eddie has reassured him that he made the right choice.

AUNTIE RHEA GARVIN| A fashionista who loves her family to a fault. She's willing to overlook any potential mischief that her boys get into.

▼ FRIENDS
FREDERICK YAKOBOV| A tall, zit-laden lad who wears the same St. Louis Cardinals cap to school every day. He speaks in a sarcastic tone most of the time though he totally swears he's being sincere. He's also a car and street racing enthusiast, with his current ride being a '97 Honda Civic.

RICHMOND CHEUNG| A rich, first generation Chinese immigrant who hangs around with Frederick and Eddie after they got grouped up for a Biology project. While he knows formal usage of English, Frederick has been teaching him common phrases to use in every day life. So far, it's only gotten him in two fights and one locker stuffing.

▼ ENEMIES
CUSTODIAN GEORGE BEAUREGARD| A part-time, elderly maintenance staffer who holds a grudge against Eddie after an incident involving doughnut marks in the student parking lot before the school year even began. Without missing a beat, Mr. Beauregard always manages to greet Eddie in a cold tone every time their eyes meet.

//STOMPING GROUNDS

◼ SEABREEZE OUTDOOR MALL| The mall where Eddie's aunt Rhea works at. There's a designer clothing store, a sneaker outlet store, a theatre, and a grocery store among other shops. He usually hangs out with Frederick and Richmond here if he has free time. While some of the shops are in a state of disrepair, it gets plenty of foot traffic from the locals.

GUY GARVIN'S GARAGE | If he's not at the mall or at home, Eddie is probably at his uncle's auto shop which is a brisk walk away from their home. While he isn't an official employee, he does help around when he can. The establishment somehow makes a profit even with the presence of larger franchises in the area.

//PARAPHERNALIA

◼ SUNGLASSES| Yes, he does wear them at night.

◼ EYE DROPS| Over the counter but they work miracles on his eyes. Covered by his aunt's health insurance policy.

◼ OLD EYE DROP BOTTLE| An old eye drop bottle. It's seemingly filled with another kind of liquid other than his prescription.

◼ CONTACTS + CONTACTS HOLDER| Eddie himself doesn't need them.
Did somebody say Clayface?
