@Flora

Vestus was slightly embarrassed, so he decided he would apologize to Nathaneil.

"Heh, uh sorry about the heat didn't mean to do that!"

He smiled melancholily at Nathaneil, and then sunk his hands in his pockets to cool down, for a while.

"I understand, it would be like hugging a water heater that's over heating or a stove!"

He said jokingly to the man.

"Our powers seem like they would be used for heating things or setting things on fire, although I do admit I loved watching the campfire when I was a kid it was like T.V. in the outdoors!"

He looked around at everyone who were seemingly silent and not very chatty, he looked at them all then back at Nathaneil, he thought all these people were very odd and sometimes very different from each other.

Emeka looked on silently as Libe slowly succumbed to recoil from the overuse of his magics. So even this power comes with a price, or maybe this thing is a growing pain he thought. However unlike his current allies he did not run and go to help. He expected everyone to carry their own weight, weakness of any kind could not, would not be forgiven.

He did not understand why they could not leave Libe where he lay, not infact the youngest in the group picked the man up and went to drop him off back in those metal containers. It seemed a smart yet futile thing to do, now that Libe had become a burden, it would take much to change Emeka's viewpoint on the man.

Emeka of course did not follow them back to the shrine, he merely shrugged and turned around and made his way towards the village he had seen off in the distance. If the others wished they would catch up soon enough

Soon enough, my slime had let go of my hand after it had sapped a bit of my body heat. The slime still looked like it was shivering a little, but overall it seemed to have recovered in the process. I grabbed my hand which was now cold to the touch, but felt relieved knowing that it would warm up over time and that judging by the weather it wasn't anywhere near the winter time. I liked the cold and didnā€™t really mind it, and while I was somewhat resistance against it I didnā€™t have any other clothes I could wear to warm me up or anything. In fact, I didnā€™t even have a blanket.

I slipped my hand in my pocket in an attempt to warm it up faster, as my gaze turned towards the windows and the outside world that lay on the other side. Looking through the windows of the building various trees could be seen, though looking at them gave me the impression that something was off. Almost as if they werenā€™t ordinary trees. Looking away from the windows I saw a door. Should I open it? No one told me I couldnā€™t right? My curiosity got the best of me and I slowly walked over towards the door and gripped the handle, and as I did so I paused. Was this really okay to do? I looked back over towards the group behind of people behind me. Maybe I should wait for them, but it couldnā€™t hurt to just take a peek right? Yet part of me felt it wouldnā€™t be a good idea, after all this was a strange new world that I knew nothing about. I thought to myself for a quick second before feeling two slimy appendages grab my left arm. ā€œOpen the door, I want to see whatā€™s outside as well you know.ā€

Sighing I shook my head, looks like Iā€™m not the only one who wants to see the outside world. ā€œAlright Iā€™ll open it then.ā€ I told the slime as I opened the door to reveal a large forested area. I looked around in awe at the natural untouched beauty of this place. Examining the trees closer a lot of them appeared to have some type of new fruit I had never seen before in my life. Some weird type of blue-skinned curved pear with lighter specks of blue dotting its surface. I took a small step forward practically ready to explore this new world. It was almost like something was calling me, telling me that I needed to find the secrets of this world, and yet as I took yet another step forward I had to stop myself.

I could only think about one thing. That this place, this world, while filled with beauty was also extremely dangerous. I had to be cautious and try to keep safe. There was no telling what could happen in this realm.

"To be honest, I was more used to taking TVs apart myself rather than watching them. But I never really went camping due to certain... complications involving personal matters."

Catching movement out of the corner of his eye, he sees that Azorel was already heading out the door. He was welcome to the distraction, and went with it. Looking up at Vestus, a wide grin spread across his own face. "But I guess now is not the time to think like that, as we can make up for lost time. Azorel seems to have found the door, so we can head out and explore this nature firsthand."

Marching forward, he did hesitate or turn back. It felt incredibly awkward to walking away from that situation for several reasons, but he was currently relieved.

Darius ā†’
@Laue
Darius opened his pod and coughed coarsely, clearing his throat aloud. Death by explosion. Probably one of the coolest ways to die, but the most instantaneously painful of them. His attire was charcoal black. It was covered in ash, and some of the threads on his clothes were loose as if they had been pulled by strong forces and burned. If one thing was for certain, though, there were many cases in this world where killing a human wasn't as unethical as it would be in the real world. He felt fine. Sore still, but as healthy as he was earlier.

The brunet rose slowly from his pod. Standing, he brushed some of the dust and ash from his clothes and pulled the hem of his T-shirt. Damn. He craned his neck to look down his body, his back, his arms, his legs. I need new clothes. And then the newly-resurrected lab coat man was there, talking to Darius. The boy looked at John immediately upon hearing the first few words and listened carefully. A good question, really, but a little trivial in regards to the situation. Well, he could remember his memories vividly and was currently reliving the events that led to his first death. That was one question answered.

"Likely instant perfect clones, bodies only regenerated to full health." Before reaching the second clause, John was out the door and back inside, confirming the facts that were, to Darius, very unimportant. In a world of some fantasy, Darius found it safe to dub most of their environment magical in nature. And John spoke again, in his rushed, straight-forward tone of voiceā€”of course, in Darius's opinion. "I know your name already. You said it while your body began to fester on the ground." He gingerly put his hand forward and shook John's slowly. "Darius. Darius Sterling." He released John's hand immediately after saying his name.

Vestus followed Nathaniel who seemed to be dodgy about the previous conversation about campfires and complications of some kind but now that they had found the so called "door" but he really wasn't in a hurry to get anywhere.

As he walked behind Nathaniel he said to his new friend who shared an almost identical power.

@Flora

"So why do you think we are all here?"

Vestus asked his friend who was marching ahead without looking back, Vestus continued so he could explain his point of view first.

"Because I think we are here for a special purpose of some kind like to learn about our powers or find a place to fit in, or find an environment that suits us best, what do you think?"

He finished explaining then asked Nathaniel with an eyebrow raised.

Alison

It's okay now, Sir LibƩ. The magic woman will take care of you until you're healthy enough to be my Knight again.

Alison paused briefly at the entrance to the shrine, waving a tiny goodbye to him. Then she steps outside, feels the darkness curling around her shoulder blades, guiding her wings through. They fan out as they grow, and shimmer in strange patterns. Alison closes her eyes, prepares her special flying princess power, and takes to the skies.

It's high up here, and the sky is so blue she can hardly see any clouds. Below, sparse forest, and the grassy plains in which they'd fought the spider. Buildings scattered in the distance, and a lone figure walking through the grass towards the buildings.

That must be a village. I bet they're part of my princess kingdom.

She homed in on the man, swooping down to barely two meters above his head and flying in tight circles as she kept up with his much slower pace. "Hey, Emeka! Let's go to the village over there! I bet there's some really cool stuff! You want a ride?"

"H-hey wait for me!" Rina called out futility as Alison once again soared into the sky. "Aron come on!" she said as she chased after Alison. It looked like she was heading towards the village, Emeka was probably headed there as well. "Stop just a moment, hold onto me please." Aron said as he developed a look of intense focus.

Wondering what he was going to do Rina stepped next to him and held onto his arm. He gestured and a circle of dirt rose from the ground, with them on it. Aron pushed his hand forward and then began moving through the air after Alison, albeit a bit slower but still much faster then they could move on foot.

"Alison, wait for me!" Rina yelled out as they managed to finally catch up to her. It looked like she had stopped to fly circles around Emeka. "I'm headed to the village as well, guess we should all go together right?" Rina asked the two of them cheerfully.

As Azorel steps outside the shrine, he is immediately greeted by a smell of the ocean, carried by a pleasantly cool breeze. The sound of splashing waves can be heard. The shrine seems to be at the very edge of a forest, where the trees have taken on a slight watery blue hue; the pear-shaped blue fruits hanging from the trees appear to be particularly moist. One low-hanging fruit is even being slowly chewed on by a tree-climbing fish of some sort.

But no, that's not the most noticeable feature in the vista; the most notable feature is almost always the most dangerous. In this case, it is a large pirate ship docked roughly some distance away on the beach. Admittedly, the culture on this world may be different, and it may not actually be a ship owned by pirates... But any ship that has a large black flag depicting the bleached skull of some kind of horned lizard, and a pair of crossbones, is bound to be not very pleasant. And that's not even mentioning the series of cannons that can vaguely be seen protruding from one side of the ship's hull. On the other hand, the ship is docked next to what appears to be a peaceful little village, with ordinary-looking houses that decidedly lack any macabre skull motifs. A few other boats can be seen, but they also look normal and not the least bit intimidating; the large ship looks completely out of place next to them.

Nothing else notable can be seen, unless the group of transhumans are to go deeper into the forest, walk along the beach in the direction opposite of the ship, or go into the sea somehow.

@helltank (Alison); @Eklispe (Rina); @Grimoire (Emeka)

As the three transhumans approach the village, they begin to see more webs of bluish light hanging in the air, like the ones they've seen earlier from the white spider. In some places the webs are sparse enough to be walked through safely if one does it with care, but in other areas, there are extremely dense clusters of webs that form almost solid masses of light.

Then they spot the villagers. One can instantly tell that they're not human, from their dull, pale, bluish green skin. Each of the creatures is around two meters tall, possessing musculature rivaling those of the bulkiest human athletes on Earth. Tufts of black and dark brown hair can be seen on their heads, and a pair of relatively dull tusks jut out from each creature's mouth. Their eyes have shades of blue, green, and gray, showing more intellect than the creatures' brutish strength may suggest. Overall, aside from their more exotic bodily features, the creatures' physical builds are similar to humans, and even display the same type of sexual dimorphism. In fact, they bear a not insignificant resemblance to orcs in many fictional fantasy settings from Earth. However, none of them are in armor; their clothes are mostly made of furs and leathers. They do appear to be genuine farmers, at least on the surface.

At the moment, a group of three orcs are doing battle against six of the white spiders the transhumans have seen earlier. The battle is taking place at the border of the village; the orcs are presumably fighting to prevent the spiders from entering. With a bellow, one of the orcs raises her right hand, and unleashes a cone of pale blue frost, which seems to rapidly freeze a section of the glowing webs. At the same time, two of the spiders spew jets of luminescent silk from their mouths, toward the second orc. The silk seemingly passes through the orc's body, but he still lets out a choked cry of pain, and falls to his knees, muscles twitching. He then grits his teeth, and wills a burst of fire to emanate from him, burning away all the webs. But his face still doesn't look like he's feeling very well at all.

"Shit!" The third orc growls, in a language that isn't quite English but somehow still understandable by the transhumans. "Olaghog! Should we call for reinforcements?!" It's clear that none of them have seen the transhumans yet.

[I used an online generator for the orc name. Sue me.]

Stepping outside further I could smell the salty air of the ocean. As I moved onwards I could see that the soil seemed to turn into a sandy beach. My only question was whether or not I was on an island of some kind, or was I on an actual continent, so to speak. A cool and pleasant breeze swept through the air as I continued to look around and see even more exciting things. For one thing there was a cute little fish that had climbed a tree to munch on some fruit. There even seemed to be a village, though while it looked rather small there were probably some nice friendly people there. However right next to the village there appeared to be a pirate ship, does this world actually have pirates?

Looking down towards my slime it seemed to pause at all of the new sites before slowly moving towards the village. "Come on let's go and check it out." it said as I hesitantly followed after it.

It's not that I didn't want to explore the village or talk to the locals, but rather I was just a bit frightened by the ominous looking ship docked near it. Was there a raid going on in the village? Perhaps the ship's owner was violent or dangerous? Though perhaps it could also be the opposite? Maybe it was used to scare off those seeking to plunder the town? Maybe it was a whole village filled with criminals and convicts? As I thought about this some more I quickly became worried and felt like turning back. Yet at the same time if I really couldn't die, then there'd be no reason to at least go into the village and have a look right? If there was a raid going on maybe I could help in some way? I glanced towards my slime and recalled when he shot those pressurized spurts of goo at that one lady, whatever her name was. El..., Elliot? No that's not right. Whatever the case, it could protect me and others if a fight were to occur. Though, the only question was, just how much power did this slime of mine have? Would it even be enough?

As we approached the village even more I stopped myself and prepared to turn around and head back to the safety of the shrine. "Let's go and head back, I'm not so sure about..."

As I said these words I felt a slimy tentacle wrap around my arm. "You shouldn't worry so much. Come on, let's go explore this place."

I sighed, realizing my slime was right. What did I really have to fear? I'm immortal now, right? Flashing a weak smile at my slime I softly muttered the words, "A-alright, if you say so."

Rina looked at the village curiously as they neared. It seemed nearly overrun, what with all the spider webs everywhere. As they got closer they were able to get a good look at the residents, they appeared to be rather similar to how she imagined orcs from Lord of The Rings. Then she saw the battle that was going on. The orcs were outnumbered 2-1, and from what she could see they were defending themselves. Which meant the spiders were attacking and they should help the orcs. Rina thought about what Libe had said earlier about the spider being intelligent, well even if they were intelligent they still had to help the victims, and from the looks of things that was defiantly the orcs.

"Reinforcements are already here!" Rina cried out as they made their way into the fray. Though of course that was assuming Aron could fight these things. "Rina please stay back" Aron requested as they landed and he stepped off the platform. Rina did the same taking several steps backward and watching to see what he would do. Aron made a gesture and the earth they had been traveling on rippled, then changed into a spear like object. As he grabbed it the same metallic substance that covered his skin spread to the spear, giving it a deadly gleam. Then he rose up his free hand and blasted one of the spiders with a ray of freezing energy. Hopefully the others would also help, she didn't think Aron could take all six of the spiders even with the orcs helping.

Stepping out into the serene setting, the experience was not lost on him. The unusual scents, sights and sounds all were exhilarating and he wanted to just explore it all.

@Blackmist16

Managing to stop himself for a moment to take a breath, Nathaniel calms himself down and turns to Vestus who was behind him. "I don't really know why we are here, either. I can just theorize it is related to our quest to defeat those powerful beings, but why that woman summoned us here to do that is lost on me since she could have likely done it herself." Letting the thought trail off, he glances around at the surroundings once again. "We were given these powers to - what I assume, at least - to defeat these guys, but she also said our powers could be improved."

Once again pushing up his non-existent glasses, he looks straight into the forest. "I don't think we can face them as we are, but it doesn't mean we can't explore and try facing one if we meet it. As such, it might be best to determine where to go at the moment. You mentioned you liked campfires before, so do you have experience in forests? If so, we could check it out since your experience might help, unless you personally want to see what that village is about."

Vestus was quite taken aback by the scenery, it was all awfully beautiful and hard to take his eyes away from but he made himself listen to Nathaneil.

@Flora

"I do have experience in the forest I was a hunter before this and I was quite the outdoorsman so yes I could help"

He explained to Nathaneil as plainly as he could.

"First of all I would rather romp around the forest before we go anywhere near that village, maybe we have more powers but at the moment I would suggest you and I go do something in the forest maybe we should set up a camp in the woods!"

Vestus suggested the idea of a camp so they would have a main base of action if anyone would attack them and they could also make traps around the camp, because he knew how to make traps, like trip vines or a trap that drops heavy rocks onto the intruders head.

Going into the forest was a good idea in his mind.

@Blackmist16

Nodding at the response, he gestures for Vestus to take the lead. "It doesn't seem necessary to make a base of operations due to the building we left being fairly accommodating and the fact that venturing too far without knowing where we are headed might not be for the best. Testing our powers does sound good, though, since I really want to see for myself what I am capable of." Nathaniel assumed they could likely test their abilities on the nearby plant life, but he personally wanted to stretch his legs and explore for the time being so he did not voice the opinion.

He gestured for Nathaniel to follow him and he began to walk a little ways into the forest near the shrine but far enough so they could safely use their powers so they wouldn't draw any unwanted attention.

"Now what should we do first climb to the top of a tree and test our abilities in accuracy maybe, or what do you have in mind?"

Vestus asked Nathaniel and wondered about what they were going to do.

A frown crossed Alison's face as she saw the orcs struggling with the spiders. She didn't like the spiders, especially since one of them had attacked her earlier, but orcs were definitely bad. How could they not be? They were ugly, stinky, smelly big fat brutes. Look at what they were wearing! Like savages and cannibals.

Bleh. And that dull blue skin.

She shook her head in disgust, started to fly away, leaving the evil monsters to fight the evil orcs. The Princess would have no part in this battle. Then she saw Rina and Aron, moving towards the spiders. Aron raised a hand, blasted one of the spiders with a ray of cold.

Aww, shucks. Knights have to be valiant, I suppose...

"HEY ARON!" she shouted, turning loops in the sky. "COME BACK! THOSE MONSTERS AREN'T WORTH YOUR TROUBLE! LET THEM KILL EACH OTHER!"

[@Raptorman hasn't posted in a long while, and didn't reply to my PM, so I'm going to retcon his character out of existence for now; he hasn't really interacted with anyone anyways. If he comes back, he'll be treated like a new arrival.]

Before Nathaniel and Vestus have decided on their next course of action, they hear the sound of rustling leaves and shrubbery coming from deeper within the woods. Moments later, a figure emerges.

At the first glance, the figure resembles a young human woman, maybe barely more than a teenager. The first sign one may notice that hints at the woman's non-human nature is a faint, sea blue tinge to her otherwise fair and smooth skin, the coloration appearing entirely natural rather than some kind of sickly pallor; her shoulder-length wavy black hair has a similar tint. Upon further inspection, one can observe that the woman's ears have prominently pointed tips, and are far sharper and thinner than normal human ears. Gills can be faintly seen on the sides of her necks, a set of small fins protrude from the backs of her forearms and lower legs, and her fingers and toes have slight amounts of webbing between them. She is lightly dressed, wearing a midriff-baring sleeveless top and what resembles a pareo or sarong wrapped around her hips, both made of some strange, dark green leafy material and decorated with simple blue patterns; the clothes complement her tall and slender figure and make her look quite attractive by human standards. Not knowing what kind of being she calls herself, a human will likely label her a "sea elf".

However, the elven woman carries a runed hunting knife in one hand, and a wooden rod resembling something halfway between a torch and a magic wand in the other hand. And her fiery red eyes are full of alarm and hostility.

"Who're you?" The young woman hisses, trying to keep quiet and sound menacing at the same time. The language is comprehensible to all of the transhumans, but strangely doesn't sound quite like English or any other language they've heard. As she speaks, he tip of the rod in the girl's left hand bursts into flames, and the metallic blade of her dagger begins to burn red hot. "Are you with those damn pirates?! Answer me if you don't want to get cooked alive!"

@helltank (Alison); @Eklispe (Rina); @Grimoire (Emeka)

"Thank you, stranger!" One of the orcs shouts as he sees Aron blasting one of the spiders with cold energy. "We-"

"Ziz's dung!" The second orc curses, as he struggles to get back up and recover from the spider's earlier attack. "Now we've got a demon on our hands too?!" He mutters, while looking at Alison, specifically at the wings of black energy emanating from her back. "Yes, Ghorzak! Reinforcements! Now!"

"On it!" The first orc, apparently named Ghorzak, answers, then promptly leaps into the air far higher than even something of his strength should be able to. A gust of wind howls behind him, and he seems to glide further into the village despite his great physical bulk.

The spider that was struck by Aron's cold ray is now severely chilled, shivering and suffering from frostbite all over. However, this has caused the other five spiders to turn their attentions toward the three transhumans. Moreover, the orcs are looking at the transhumans too, tense and ready to attack; they definitely weren't particularly pleased by Alison's words.

So, this guy Darius and him were the only ones left. Since no one else is in the pods, the others are alive at the very least. John was eager to explore, but first they should try and find some kind of civilization here. A base of operations so to speak. Depending on the state of society in this land, John could have invaluable expertise. Or at least he counts on the fact that his knowledge will be one of a kind and extremely useful to whatever settled place he goes. He was irreplaceable back on Earth. But here, without his sophisticated machinery and software, he's pretty much a very knowledgeable apothecary. Except he doesn't really know any of these plants. Nor did he back on Earth. If he needed something, he would either synthesize it in the lab or get it delivered to him. But John viewed it as a challenge. Yet another way to learn something new and improve himself. Maybe he could learn to analyze biological structures with magic?

"So, Darius, let's go on an adventure, shall we?" John beckoned his companion as he was heading out. "W have much to do, and standing around here is rather dull, don't you think."

Rina frowned at Alison's words, how could she be so heartless? These orcs needed help, they couldn't just leave them to die. She took a few steps further back leaving the spiders to focus on Aron instead of her hoping he could handle it. Aron looked at his opponents carefully, five versus one would be a difficult fight, hopefully these orcs would be able to assist him. "I will take care of these spiders until you get help." Aron called out as one of the orcs seemed to fly into the village, presumably to alert some others of his kind. The air around him slowly began cooling and a watermelon sized chunk of earth flew into the air hovering in front of him waiting to be shaped into a form. Aron watched the spiders coolly waiting for some sort of attack from them, he remembered the webs they had seemed to dispel his magic. If they hit him that could be dangerous.

Darius ā†’
@Laue
"I'm way ahead of you." Darius emphatically replied, foot already out the door to the shrine. "Grant and I already found a village somewhere deep in the woods."

He really didn't want to lead John around the forest, especially with that hovering aura of menace and distrust. But alas, John had yet to wrong the boy, and until that happened, Darius had no grounds to cast out the imprudent pharmacologist. Grant, on the other hand, could be trusted; however, for whatever reason, the lawyer was nowhere to be found in their surroundings. After the malfunctioning drone had taken the duo out, so to speak, the younger man saw nothing of Grant. In his absence, Darius had no other choice but to deal with John in the meantime. On a practical level John at least had some proficiency with science unlike Grant, who only knew U.S. law, which was hardly useful in their current predicament. It was settled that John and Darius would set for the village of the wood elves in the forest, and Darius began the walk in that direction once he left the shrine. If John were truly with Darius, then John would follow. Otherwise, it was the boy alone.

The teenager had a few things on his agenda that he'd seek before moving onto larger steps of action. He wanted to:

a. secure a journal somehow, in which he could record events and thoughts as well as make plans and take notes,
b. develop a better understanding of the world they were in,
c. ally himself with some sort of society or group in that world, and
d. move onto growing both as a person and as a god without losing himself to a destructive or immoral nature.

Darius couldn't care less about whatever power struggle was afoot. His main focus was self-preservation and uprightness. Otherwise, there would be no telling of what sort of monster Darius could turn into. His biggest enemy would be fear, and the realm would turn into a battleground between good and evil.
