When people lead you on like they are attracted to you, spend a bunch of time with you all week then suddenly drop you - saying how they don't wanna be in a relationship with you anymore...

Yes, this has happened more than once - yes I am fed up with it.

Moral to all you out there, stop leading people on and if you like someone grow a pair and be committed.

New Rant:
When RPs you are in discussions for suddenly just stopped being alive, you wonder if your middle or superhero name is 'Black Plague'.

My rant(s).

People refusing to roleplay with me because I have a low post count. Listen, I have been doing mostly PM roleplay since I got here, and on top of that, I assure you I have lots of experience. Quit judging my skills just based off of my time on this site, jeeze.

Secondly, and this is no one's fault, really. But it sucks working on an advanced interest check for several days and then having no one bite or show any semblance of interest. I even made a bloody map!

Grumble grumble.

He even made a bloody map! (Seriously, I think this is really cool.)

And just state in your bio that you mostly do PM roleplays. c:

DID YOU SAY MAP?!

I like maps.

I'm gonna go find your RP just so I can look at the map now.

@Shorticus

Yep! A bloody map. It's pretty bare, but that's the intention of the RP is to explore and flesh it out.

@Pair of Hearts

Also yeah, I guess that would help. I have the problem with people glancing at my post count and then being like "hmmm nope" regardless.

@Gimple
Those who are worthy will take the courtesy of at least giving your profile and activity a onceover. People who jump straight at things without caring who they're roleplaying with at all give me bad vibes. It's kinda a prelude (my paranoia thinks) to, "I don't care who you are, or what you might want out of our roleplay. I just want to roleplay!"

UPDATE: I feel like a creep now for checking out profiles of people that expressed interest if the majority tell me they don't do that.

I feel you, Gimple. Really, I do. I used to try and make RPs all the time, put in system. Go out of my way to give people as much control as possible, add stuff to make the worlds more interesting. Work on flavor text and ultimately in the end at best to get like 2 people interested, whom realistically I would of rejected due to the quality of their CS submissions back in the past. Honestly, Cost of Magic is the first RP people have actually turned interest in.

It's like cooking over an oven, placing the pie on the window side in dodgy part of town and then coming back to find a letter saying "Nah" on top of it. It's one of the reason I went off RP'ing for like a...a year way back. For what's it worth. I thought it was good, I almost joined even but I I questioned if I could commit to it properly with my own one and RL stuff as well.

A lot of it comes down to presentation and... well, luck.

On the luck note, @Gimple, I'm soneone (since I've now looked at your thread) that normally WOULD take a bite. However, I JUST agreed to do a couple more RPs since my semester is ending in a week. I don't feel safe adding another to my plate without being sure I can keep a good pace in the roleplays I've agreed to. So, that means that while your RP would normally get my attention, it presently just isn't. I'm busy, and that's the rub of things.

Presentation can also be hit and miss depending on what you're presenting. And truth be told, it also helps if you can say "My roleplay was inspired by <X>," since that gives people something to compare your setup to. For instance... I don't think I'd have gotten nearly the attention I have in Masters of the Hidden Valley if I didn't leave a lot of King of Dragon Pass elements in my interest check.

Super lame bitching alert:

Changing meds makes my head woozy and prevent me from reading more involved interest checks with the attentions they deserve, as well as my now altered state of mind insisting kinda taking my muse to strange places. That blows. :(

Lame bitching done, you may proceed as usual.

You have some good points but there's no excuse to treat the ones who aren't drunk, aren't high, or lazy parents, like garbage.

Funny thing is, I have. And one thing you do not do is treat your customers like shit.

Thought everyone knew that.

So this is more of an indicator of my ever-growing anxiety than an actual problem, but the way post count is shown right next to "days since joining" right on every post I submit just destroys my nerves. I'm not exactly a consistent RPer; I'll join a game or two every couple of months and hang out and post until the things die (which, unfortunately, happens pretty quickly in most cases). Then, my RP hunger sated for the time, I pursue other hobbies. Rinse and repeat for two years.

Now I've posted 100 times over the course of 700 days and I constantly worry that someone is gonna think I'm an unreliable player or something because I disappear for long periods of time, even if I do take care not to abandon any RPs.

A good partner/GM would look beyond that and see the quality of such work. Some people stick to the PMs as well so they don't have a high post count. It's all good if you don't have thousands of posts.

I wish the people wanting "18+ ONLY" RPs would put that in the title instead of hidden inside their actual post so I could avoid wasting my time reading them.
Most of the time, people follow this rule already, but of course there are stragglers who don't and I get super happy clicking on their check.

It's inhumane to get one super excited for a plot/pairing only to read, "OH, these are 18+ only cause sexy times lol".
It's also extremely annoying.

Well, now. I'm guilty of this, since most of my plots are safe.

I started off in the Burnout forums and spent most of my time there, on SSX, and a bit in Spore. Biggest part for me was off-topic and graphics (Signature images and avatars).

It was a big forum too. Guild has about 250 online at the most, EA had 2,500 with most of them in Fifa and Sims. xD
