@Ammokkx then add Óðinn#7167 and I can invite you to my server. It's very small server though, and IDC who really gets in there. ATM it's just people I know and friends, all more or less from RPG.

@Raddum Yeah, I wasn't naming names but that Intchk is pretty obviously the one I was talking about in my earlier post.

[@Also Raddum] I'm down for a blacklist. If it's willing to acknowledge different skill levels (ie. there's no "this person can't spell and is bad at writing" category), and if it can stay objective in its goal of cataloguing fickle RP-deserters and backseat-GMs and so on, then it might work out well.

We just need to determine whether it can stay here, where it would get more publicity; or if we need to resort to off-site methods to avoid incurring the wrath of Mahz.

Doing this, in my experience as a forum moderator, would be a form of public shaming and is a form of trolling and member harassment. So yeah, you will [most likely] get the wrath of a staff member if you proceed on this path.

@pugbutter We do need to take note of skill levels. That's one reason I think we still need the subforums; Putting it all together would be extremely fucking messy and despite tags people would still try to join Advanced RP's with short CS's lacking detail, and then complain that they can't do any more.

At least we'll get their attention at the end of the day.

@The Spectre you are also free to add me and get invited. In fact everyone is. The server has always been open to everyone, I just didn't care to spread the invite link, lol.

I think most player problems transcend skill level, tbh. You'll find thread-deserters in Free and in Advanced alike.

Fun fact: if you remove the obvious outliers, here are all the RP subforums ranked with a ratio of posts to threads (the higher the better):
  • Nation: 170.300
  • Advanced: 161.67
  • Casual: 149.446
  • Arena: 64.002
  • 1x1: 61.940
  • Free: 28.141

Obviously I cannot measure how much of each thread on average is OOC compared to IC (not without resorting to a small, randomized sample size), but I found it interesting anyway.

I don't think it's accurate to not count those rps with the 10k posts. Because, regardless of how long they've been going on and how many cast changes they've had, they are still on-going. Not that I was apart of either of those three, but still.

Also, as for the discussion at hand, I don't think there's much we can do to better the community. We can hope that people will want to better themselves, but can't force it on people. Either they'll be cool people who will let people in their happenings or continue their ways. After all, a leopard can't change its spots unless it wants to.

This is not a solution in the slightest. The Free section is intended for users that don't have English as a first language, are new to a computer, and/or are new to Roleplaying as a whole. If anything, this would only result in isolating more people.

@The Nexerus The Free section is a containment board. Without it, all those horrid roleplayers will scatter, and some of them will infiltrate Casual/Advanced for their daily fill of RP.

Just in case you weren't kidding, of course.

To be perfectly honest, the most active RP's I've been in are free RP's. ^-^' (Least on this forum. Or 1x1's that happen to be with members.) So, while I'll be mildly elitist sounding by saying. "Yeah, that's not really the best way to roleplay." But...it's better than doing nothing but admiring how fucking boring and complicated you can make 10,000 words be. You know RP's work best with quick interactions between players, can't do that if you and everyone is just too lazy to write a book. ^-^'

This probably came off as mildly jerkass-ish. Sorry, I blame my dinner not being ready yet. <.<

I would rather write succinct, interesting, and well-written posts than post rapid-fire sentences back and forth. Free is not for me. There is a reason that it [according to internet history archives and caches] used to be called the Beginners section.

I would as well. But I won't outright call out people that do. (or try to at least. <.<) Unfortunately, a lot of elitist types I've seen, not here but just in general. Aren't really interesting either. -.- They just write a whole lot more...which yes, in a way, does show they have the patience to write that much, which beginners probably do not have. But it also demands people be active as well and actually be good at roleplaying. Hell, I'd argue good writer doesn't equal good roleplayer. Especially, if they're the GM. I do sometimes look at people's writing and how they behave and wonder why aren't they just writing a book? :P
