I could see stages with stage fatalities at the end just for fluff. For example, standing on top of what is similar to a rancor pit from star wars and they drop down upon defeat.

That would be fine. But. Constantly having to combat the opponent and arena? Nah. I can see for tournaments, either the final round he a challenge map or the matches be a challenge then a normal final.

So as I of today I haven't heard from Mahz, which is understandable as he had stuff come up at work.

At this juncture I believe we can do some extra stuff. If we start building up the threads we can possibly go ahead and start the ranking system and whatnot. However if we do start and he is able to code it in it could cause a reset of some sort. Are we okay with that?

Thr next threads we need are a welcome to the arena thread in which we explain everything. A FAQ thread. And the ranking that itself. In theory I can do two of them but being limited to q phone it may take a while. I'm going home this weekend and can do it Then On my computer.

If one of you decide to do themy make sure you will be around to make the updates. Also send whatever you do to me so I can check over it and see what Elkhart is needed.

The first tournament can take place as early as May (if we do one every four months and July if we do one every three(since April is almost up)).

This is a show we can get started on and then we can transition to a multi verse.

Are you guys watching my fights with Shiden and Schradinger? Ive never been so excited, shit's got me sweating behind a computer screen!

I'm gettin dat practice in, you better be ready for me when a tournament comes around muthafukas.

EDIT: I vote for May tourney, give it a cool name, I may not actually take part, but If i dont, I want to be in control of where they fight (BG), which will eliminate any natural advantages of letting the combatants choose.

The first tournament should have more simple battlegrounds. All the classics such as forest, desert, plains, etc. I like more involved battlegrounds then rilla but this tournament should get people more used to battles then starting things off complex.

I'm too busy to be typing up threads right now. I need to catch up on my character of the days and an arena battle I'm in.

The settings are generally random. The tournament host usually picks. The actual people FIGHTING don't, ever. Keeps them honest.

So if we do one in May, that means around 3 a year. So the next one, and last one of the year, will take place in Sept.

Jan.
May.
September.
Jan.
May.
Sept.

otherwise it would be.

Jan.
April.
July.
Oct.

As the tournaments take place in a calender year.

Alright well at the very least I'll make sure the batch of tournament grounds are nice and fair, as the groundsman I will make a bunch of non-exotic locations for yall to fight in fairly.

Like this one

The Arena setting needs to be decided by the scope of the powers are are going to unleash. On the assumption it is powered...

In general, I would lean in favor of making it a larger map as well, as there may be longer range characters that wish to be utilized. I'd also suggest that it be quite simple. A few things like trees for some cover, some sort of water, etc. It should have a diverse amount of 'materials' to work with.

If you need simple graphics done for the tournament grounds, please let me know. I can quickly whip up something in photoshop representing the terrain.

Do you wanna be the Tournament host for this one, Dynamo? Someone else can host the next one. As host you get to decide number of players(preferably at least 8) and how many bonus points they get for winning, in addition to the 100 for each individual tournament fight they win(or was it 100 first, 200 second, and so on + Bonus points?) You also get to decide the type of tournament.

I would lean towards actually very defined terrain maps for competitive fighting, as location within them does matter and it stays consistent without constant referencing of previous posts for the added description by both the current participants and future ones.

For example, something such as this:

Dark Green is trees. Grey are stone columns about 20 feet high. Light green is obvious meadow. Dark blue is water. Light blue is open air, as this would be a floating platform. The choice of a barrier preventing knocking someone off would be an option. I'd lean towards a large diameter for the circle, such as 60-100 feet.

@Rilla hmm maybe not for the first one, cause I'm itching to fight a lot of you guys in a tournament. Definatley the next one though!

@Innue Thats a great map, itd be great if you submitted that into the Arena thread!, however sometimes its better to leave the properties and placement of some maps a little more vague, if its a fairly basic match anyway, at least for newer players so they dont have to take into account character placement and speed of getting to point A to point B, even as an Intermediate I find all of that very difficult to keep my head all the way round. It definitely has its place in more advanced matches though.

@Dyanamo

I can understand, but I've seen the position of such things come into incredible importance, which is why I advocate for such things.

This is why it's good to have all types of maps both crazy, detailed, simple, and left to the imagination. Different opinions and all. Some tournaments could involve different types of maps with a certain theme, such an all all wacky tournament where you need to worry about traps.
